Hi,
Please start CyberLink PowerDVD THEN open the DVD to see how it goes.

You can't. The only way is to transfer the movie to your computer and import to iTunes (making sure it is compatible) and either use home-sharing or airplay the movie off an ios device.

In addition to garyfromrio linda's excellent response, make sure you go into System Preferences>Hardware>CDs & DVDs.  Set it to When you insert a DVD:  Open DVD Player

we are trying to watch a dvd that is playing on pur mac but we want to watch it on the tv that is connected to the apple tv.  what do we do?

Also, even a new Mac cannot Airplay from DVD player as Apple blocks the video signal and you get a grey checkerboard pattern
A program like VLC might play thgeh DVD though and allow you to Airplay if Mac hs teh feature or using Airparrot.

  • How can I watch a DVD movie on my Satellite A200-1HE with WXP?

    Hello,
I have purchased a Satellite A200-1HE notebook and have uninstalled Windows Vista. Now I have installed my own purchased copy of Windows XP and downloaded the drivers from Toshiba web site. But now I want to use the computer to watch DVD videos and/or write CD disks, for example, and I cannot find the software provided with the notebook (Intervideo, Disk Creator, etc.).
Do I have RIGHTS for that software? How can I download and install them FOR FREE, since I just don't want Vista, I want to use XP?
    Thank you

This additional software was bundled only with the Toshiba image and cannot be downloaded for free! You must understand that there are different copyright restrictions and only original Toshiba software (drivers & Utilities) can be downloaded from the Toshiba page.

    This is illegal.
It is illegal because our legal system and many around the world have ruled it illegal.

  • How do I watch disk DVD's on iPad?

I have a few DVD's of my own made using FCP Studio. I have not yet bought an iPad for my wife, she would be more interested if she could watch these on it. Is it possible?

If you have the source material on your computer, convert it to MPEG-4 and import it into iTunes. If not, purchase Apple's MPEG-2 playback component(you may already have it) and use MPEG Streamclip to convert the VOB files on the DVDs to MPEG-4.

You may look at this as an option:

Or you may look at players from other manufacturers.

  • HT2499 How can I watch a movie and have two subtitle tracks at once?

How can I watch a DVD using Mountain Lion's DVD player with multiple subtitle tracks, such as english and chinese, simultaineously?

This will depend on the media player. I do not believe DVD Player in OS X offers this, and don't think even versatile players like VLC or MPlayer support it. Most give you the option for one subtitle track at a time.
One option is to use a transencoder like Handbrake to rip the DVD and "burn in" one of the subtitle tracks but include the others. This way the burned in one will always display, and you can then enable the second one. It's a bit of a workaround, but will ultimately do what you're looking for.

  • How do you airplay a dvd on your imac to appletv

I have an apple Tv and want to know how I can watch a DVD from my IMAC to Apple TV to watch on my bis screen TV. Is this possible?

AFAICT, iDVD 7.1.2 should be on your machine. If not, reinstall the OS or use Pacifist to extract it from your install disc.

  • Watching a DVD with srt subtitles

    Hi there,
Recently I bought a french DVD which turned out to have no subtitles. I did find subtitles for that movie on the Internet.
Now, how can I watch the DVD on my Mac without having to merge the subtitles with a DVD-rip? Is it possible to do that with DVD Player or another (preferably free) app? I have VLC but it only opens subs from a DVD.
    Thanks.

It's not pretty, but you can do it VLC and Apple's DVD player together.
Start VLC and click "Open File" (not "Quick Open File") in the "File" menu.
Click "Browse" and find a movie at least as long as the DVD movie.
    Click the "Open" button.
Check "Load subtitles file" and click "Settings".
Click "Browse", find your subtitles file ( ,srt, or .idx if you have .idx and .sub)
    Click the "Open" button.
    Click the "OK" button.
    Click the "OK" button.
    Click the Pause button.
Click "Mute" in the "Audio" menu.
Select the desired "Subtitles Track" in "Video" menu.
Move the VLC window down on the screen.
Start playing the DVD with Apple's DVD player.
Position the DVD window over the VLC window, leaving just the bottom (subtitle) part of the VLC window visible.
When you reach the start of the actual movie, click VLC's Play button.
Click the DVD Player icon in the dock, so get the DVD window back on top.
    Start eating popcorn.
If you are going to do this often, you may want to make a custom, long, solid black, movie, (extreme film noir) to avoid distracting backgrounds under the subtitles. This movie should compress to a very small file. if you pick the right codec.

  • How Do I Use my MacBook Pro to Watch a DVD From External DVD Player

    Hello Everyone!
While waiting for Apple TV to become available in my place of work, I want to use my MacBook Pro monitor for watching a DVD movie played on an external DVD player. The DVD player I have is an LPC-D1000, which is a new model. While Mac has its own DVD player, I'm trying to make use of my LG DVD player. If that's possible, please guide me on how to do it.
    Thank you.

You could use Elgato Systems' EyeTV product to view external video sources on your MBP.
There is additional cost involved, but it would achive what you want. You can buy the Hybrid product, and connect your external DVD player via Composite (red, white and yellow connectors) to your MBP via the EyeTV.
