How do improve video quality

help

No one here can help you without details.  Unknown if any psychics are on board.
Exactly what problems are you having?  Home made video?  Website video?  Size of video?  Which video application?  If using a browser, which one and version?  Camera video?  iSight video?  Adobe Flash Player updated?

  • Presets for improving video quality.

    i make small informercial sort of videos. I use a bluescreen for all of them. My camera is Sony HVR-Z1U. Since I don't have a lot of space, I can only keep my subject about 3 - 5 feet away from the bluescreen. This makes it really hard for me to key. Therefore my video quality sucks. So are there any presets that will improve video quality? I will buy it if necessary. Thanks for any help.

    I can throw in a vote for Primatte as well. Eons ago we painted a wall in blue in our facility just for emergency pick-ups and it has no proper depth, but Primatte can key that without much ado. Specific to your other concerns: Do not forget, that it doesn't matter how you generate the Alpha. It's quite possible to overcrank contrast and brightness in the weirdest ways just to get a good key and then use that result, which is generated in a pre-comp, as amatte on the original source. Similarly, you can generate a second matte from that, that only covers the borders. If used as an adjustment layer, it can serve as a basis for removing color bleed or it can be used as a driver map for Compound Blur to adaptively smooth out rugged edges. If you can post a sample frame, we can certainly provide more guidance...

  • Improving Video Quality?

    Video quality doesn't appear as good as it did when Steve demonstrated it some time ago when more than two are video chatting. I'm using a PowerMac G5 QUAD with iSight camera and invite the first person on my home network via Bonjour everything looks good, but when I invite the second person on my home network via Bonjour, both invitees pictures go blury. The other two machines are a Core 2 Duo iMac and a Core 2 Duo MacBook with built in cameras. All three machines are connected to the LAN at 1000 Base T speeds and all three are connected to the same Gigabit switch (which is a LinkSys Gigabit switch). All three have Quicktime Streaming configured for 1.5 Mbps/T1/LAN. iChat is configured to not limit the bandwith.
    I would have expected a clear picture when my two guests are connected, but as soon as the second guest connects, the two guest pictures become blury. They also report the same thing. Is there anything else I can do to improve the picture quality? How did Steve obtain such good quality, does anyone know?
    Thanks

    Hi Dnar,
    Do you know what actual throughput you are getting ?
    There might (I stress might) be some improvement over a local network with the very top Quicktime setting but it does seem this is not stable enough for Internet connections

  • Help! How to enhance video quality to catch thieves?

    My phone was stolen the day before yesterday in China. Caught 2 female theives doing the pocket-picking thing under CCTV camera. And I recorded the footage with my camera. Wish to get a closer look at their faces, cuz the local police isnt gonna do anything...
    Do anyone know how to do tricks about improving the video quality???
    I do wanna catch those bad theives, wanna do it so badly...

    You can use sharpening tools like Unsharp Mask.  You can use third party up-rezzing tools to increase size with better quality.
    But, realistically, given you only have a camera recording of a video screen of the CCTV, it's very unlikely you'll ever extract much meaningful detail from it.  Don't believe TV shows, image enhancement is not really so advanced.
    Personally, I'd just extract the best still frame of their faces you can find, then use Photoshop to zoom and enhance as much as you can with Unsharp Mask.

  • How to improve th quality of photos in iphone 4s

    How can i improve the quality of the photos clicked by iphone-4s???

    Hi there,
    Good focus and good lighting will help you to take good quality photos. (Hold your camera still, and possibly use flash?) Also, there are great photo editing apps out at the moment, for example Instagram which can increase the quality of your photos by applying filters and effects to your photos, enhancing the look of them.
    Hope this helps,

  • Camtasia to FCE: how to improve canvas quality

    I recently started using Camtasia on a PC and saving the files as an HD quality mp4 file and then importing it into FCE on my iMac. When I watch the file on Quicktime or in the FCE viewer the quality is great, however when I watch it in the canvas the video quality is terrible. The problem seems to remain after I finish the project and watch it in quicktime.
    I tried to change the file to .mov and that didn't help. It is also taking 30-40 minutes to render a 7 minute clip.
    Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop losing the quality of the video when I go to edit it?
    Thanks

    Hi and welcome to the forum!
    Open the clip in Quicktime and click Command-I to view more information. What are the exact specifications of the file?

  • How to improve the quality of the quick time movie file

    When I press command + option + enter, the graphics looks very good but when I look at the quick time mov I saved, its so bad. It's fine if I 'drag' the quick time window to the smallest but when I look at it in full screen mode, the picture is so bad... What can I do to improve the quality?
    Please give me step by step instrustion
    Flash CS4 I am using, action script 3.0

    The text in your original Flash movie is a vector representation.  The text is drawn to the screen using a mathematical structure that is resolution independent and so the text will look crisp and sharp regardless of the enlargement or reduction of the image. When you take this Flash movie and export it as a compressed video file using the Quicktime file format, you are turning that vector image into a raster image. The compressor that you choose when exporting the file to Quicktime takes the text as it sits on the stage, at whatever that stage size is, and records the pixels. These pixels are then compressed by one means or another to produce a manageable file that can be played back in a linear method using the Quicktime player.
    In other words, there's a lot going on in that export. Flash works best when it can work with just vector artwork. Flash is a runtime playback tool. The Flash file is stored as a set of instructions for the Flash player to execute when the user plays the file. Quicktime is a file format. The Quicktime player reads the comressed file and decompresses that file as it plays. It is a linear process. It starts at the beginning and goes until it stops. Quicktime's compressors take the original content and compress that content by storing the information about the pixels that make up the file. Quicktime, and all of the other video file wrappers, play back best when the final file is played at the same size and frame rate as the original. Like any pixel based image, the quality of the image degrades as it is enlarged.
    Some compressors can provide a better quality image when enlarged, some don't. There is no 1,2,3 for creating great QT from Flash. You'll need to work through the compromises of original stage size, video compressor, audio compressor, output size, frame rate, color depth, video keyframing, etc. What works very well for one file will work less well for another file.

  • Improve video quality (Premiere Pro CS4)

    Hi everyone,
    I've been given an mpeg file that's really low quality, ie. it has a lot of compression artifacts. I wondered if there was a way to somehow improve the quality using premiere pro. I've never use this program before so would probably need basic instructions if there is a solution.
    Appreciate any advice.

    As John T. points out, once heavy compression has been done, there is no undoing it. The bits of data are just no longer there.
    Now, one can improve some aspects, but this is just making something bad, a bit less bad. Depending on the footage, a bit of Levels (not Auto-Levels), a bit of Highlight & Shadow (turn OFF Auto and then change the setting down quite a bit), Fast Color Corrector, perhaps Neat Video (optional plug-in from Neat Video), and then a touch of Unsharp Mask as the final. That might improve things a bit, but do not expect magic, as it is not going to happen.
    Good luck, and if there is ANY way to get back to before that MPEG compression, get that. You will be so much farther ahead.

  • How to improve image quality

    I've been using Motion for a couple of years now and although I'm no expert, I'm really pleased with the possibilities. I mainly use it to create animations that are then watched on a computer - either on a CD or on the web. I've also done a few animations that were later exported to a DVD. I must say, the quality of the image on a TV is terrible. It really looks like an amateur animation. I was just wondering if there was a way to improve the quality of the animation shown on a TV screen. Is it just a question of settings, compression or codec?

    The color space on a TV is completely different, and much, much more restrictive, than that of a computer monitor. If you work is destined for NTSC or PAL TV, you really should use a calibrated monitor to view your project as it will be seen so you can make the right choices of color, title and action safe, and watch for interlace issues. You need to make sure your luma and chroma levels are broadcast safe as well.
    Under the File menu is the new Share feature for exporting movies to different devices (in Motion 4, FCP 7)

  • Improve video quality and flip video

    hello-
    Here is my issue - I am taking video from an iphone app and I need to put it into another software package - the video is not high enough quality for the analysis I need to do and when it goes in the software it is turned 90 degrees.
    questions
    1) can I use compressor to sharpen the video and decrease the blur? The clips are short about 3-5sec but they are sports clips with quick action hence my blur.
    2) If yes to question 1 - any suggestions on settings?
    3) Any suggestions on how to get the video turned 90 degrees and not decrease quality?
    Thank you

    You are mistaking marketing hype for reality. There are no miracles in video, only hacks that lead inexorably to lowered expectations.
    Your following post is a quote from the marketing hype for Apple's particular flavor of a standard creative analysis tool, "optical flow." The video must be good before it can be improved. Your video can be run through this tool, give it a try and let us know what happens.
    You should look up the definitions of the terms is the product description that you do not understand clearly. Optical flow is available in Motion, too.

  • How to maintain video quality after resizing?

    I have a 640 x 360 px video that I want to resize to fit a 480 x 270 px flash movie. When I resize the video to fit the smaller stage the image quality suffers, it looks like low res. When I crop to fit, it looks fine. Is there a way to maintain image quality when reducing size?

    I have nothing on this computer aside from Adobe and a few other audio apps. This is a dual Xeon 6GB system. I work in IT and am MS certified. I do not think it is the system. I am using AE CS6. =A0Keyboard is set to its defaults. I do not touch the keyboard mappings. The effect brings the clip down to 10% or so. How should it be resized? SHift - click and drag works in all of my apps like Photoshop, so it isnt the kb or the system. Is that the way it is supposed to be done in AE? If you have AE, are you able to try this to see what I mean?

  • How to increase video quality?

    How do I increase the quality of an uploaded video? When going straight from iMovie to iWeb the 2 min clip gets reduced to 5-7MB and it looks terrible.

    First, I would do a Search on this forum for "FRAPS." There are several articles with comments on the best workflow and also settings for Import and for Export.
    Next, YouTube is trobulesome. First, they re-encode everything and their specs seem to change weekly. It's tough to find out what they want on any given day. I'd go to their site and get the very latest instructions and attempt to duplicate those perfectly, knowing that they might be different tomorrow.
    Good luck with this one, and good luck with the FRAPS footage.

  • How to improve render quality of FXG graphics (gradients, paths, alpha)

    Hi
    I created a  FXG graphical asset in Illustrator. Basically, it has some radial gradients along paths in it. Overlapping gradients have alpha values and blend over. I would assume this is a pretty common use case if you create glassy/half 3D designs.
    After importing this FXG into flex i can see that the code is clean, e.g.
                <s:Group x="0" y="0">
                    <s:Group x="0" y="0">
                        <s:Path data="<.. some coordinates... >" winding="nonZero" x="0.5" y="0.5">
                            <s:fill>
                                <s:RadialGradient scaleX="213" scaleY="213" x="106.5" y="106.5">
                                    <s:GradientEntry alpha="0.15" color="0xffffff" ratio="0.913963"/>
                                    <s:GradientEntry alpha="0" color="0xffffff" ratio="0.932299"/>
                                    <s:GradientEntry alpha="0" color="0xffffff" ratio="0.976023"/>
                                    <s:GradientEntry alpha="0.15" color="0xffffff" ratio="1"/>
                                </s:RadialGradient>
                            </s:fill>
                        </s:Path>
                    </s:Group>
                </s:Group>
    There are several groups with the gradients in my application and they overlap.
    In Illustrator it looks all very nice blended. In Flash 10/Flex 4 beta 2 the render quality seems to be not that nice, is there a way to improve that with some sort of setting maybe?
    The left one is the Illustrator rendering, the right one is the flash one.
    I tried:
    stage.quality = StageQuality.BEST;
    and added those lines to the addedToStage Handler of an AIR 2.0 application. It does not seem to make any difference.
    Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Philipp

    I can't reproduce the path in the screenshot with the code you provided so I'm just blindly guessing, but can you try this on the latest nightly build: http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4
    We recently made changes to how blendMode works on a Group that might affect this.

  • How to improve audio quality

    I got the 8GB Nano as a gift. I already had good headphones -- Shure eC4's. The audio quality from the Nano is not as good as what I get off my laptop. Fooling around with the EQ settings gives a small improvement but overall the quality off the laptop still beats the Nano. Most of my tunes were ripped at 192 using Musicmatch several years ago. Did iTunes somehow transfer these to my Nano at 128? What is the default rip rate under iTunes? Can I change it? Or is the audio quality on the Nano just mediocre to begin with?
    Thanks for any advice you can give me.

    You must re-import everything at the new bitrate of 192kbps. You can clear your iTunes first before doing this to ensure there are no duplicate files.
    The info contained in the other post is wrong. You cannot just sync your iPod at the new bit rate you selected, this will change nothing.
    When you imported your CDs at 128kbps, a lot of info was lost from the original CD. This is how compression works. Put simply, when importing the songs iTunes discards any info that you cannot hear in order to make the file size smaller. That info can consist of anything such as frequencies that the human ear cannot hear (but which may affect harmonics). The theory being that if the ear cannot hear it, it's of no use.
    Once imported into iTunes at 128kbps, increasing the bitrate to 192kbps without importing the CD all over again will not replace the info that was lost originally because it was discarded and cannot be recovered, and it will not improve the sound quality of your already imported files.
    If sound quality is important to you, import the CDs again at the new bitrate.

  • How to improve the quality of DVD?

    I know that there is a option of best perfermance or best quality in the preference menu.
    I have tried the "best quality" and encode a 1 hr. video from DV Cam , the size of the video is only around 2 G out of 4.2.
    While I use my DVD HD recorder to make a DVD, I chose the best quality and the quality/resolution of the DVD is much better compare with the one made by the Mac book.
    How can I increase the quality of DVD captured from DV cam?
    Any helps?
    Macbook 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    welcome wwb to the  board ...
    there are no manual-settings in iDVD for setting bitrates...
    to "set" the highest possible bitrate, make project shorter then <60min plus choose "Best performance"... (the naming is irritating... BP creates VBR, which is "better" compared to CBR, which is in iDVD-ish "Best Quality"...)
