How do my wife and I both edit a shared document on our iPads?

We both use iPads as our primary devices. When I share a Numbers document with her through iCloud, she can open the link on her computer but not on her iPad. On the iPad it is suggested that she download a copy of the document, but then any changes she makes don't populate back into the document that was shared. Seems like a huge oversight to not provide a mechanism for collaboration on iPads when they are quickly becoming the primary, or even only, computing device for many people.

At this stage it is apparently only possible to collaborate the way you want if one or both parties are using the webapp, which is not available via an iOS device.
You can ask Apple to fix this via

My wife and I both have iphone 4s phones and I have and ipad2 and she has an ipad3, how do we share ibooks that we've purchased thru our seperate itunes accounts

You cannot. Content can only be downloaded on other devices using the same ID. You own the book, and the license to that book does not permit sharing.

  • My wife and I both have iPhones, we just got a iPad air. Can we use iPad together or can we only set up for one?

My wife and I both have iPhones, we just got a new iPad air. Can we set it up for both of us or should we give it it's own setup separate from our phones?

It's a trust issue. You can set them up so you don't receive each other's messages as long as you each have your own email address.
The trust issue is the fact that either of you can change the separation at any time via Settings by checking the appropriate (inappropriate?) email address.
To be absolutely sure you can never receive each other's messages will require two Apple IDs.

  • How do my wife and I both share photos from our iphones to one mac via clouds photostream?

My wife and I have seperate apple store id's, and we have one main mac desktop updated with lion and icloud.
when I take photos on my iphone 4 it synchs and shows up via photostream to my mac desktop.
When she takes a photo using her phone, it doesn't show up.  How do I sync her phone to be able to send via photostream to the same desktop?

Decide which ID will be the primary iCloud ID. For example, I chose my iCloud ID to be the primary iCloud ID for both devices and the Mac to receive the Photostream.  (Since iCloud IDs dont cost anything - you could set up a new one just for this purpose - which would have the added advantage that the other iDevices will not be able to access the email for the primary iCloud ID)
On your device (let's call it the primary) turn on iCloud and ahve all the toggles you require set to on.
Delete the existing iCloud ID from your wife's device.
Sign in to iCloud on your wife's device with your (or the newly created iCloud ID)
On your wife's device turn OFF all the mail, calendar, contact toggles (so that your wife doesnt get all your personal content - emails, contacts, calendars etc) in the iCloud panel
Create a new Mail account in the Mail, Contacts, Calendars on your wife's device with her iCloud ID so that she can receive email, calendars etc.
On the Mac - use your iCloud ID as the primary iCloud ID. This will ensure Photostream content arrives.
If your wife primarily uses this Mac - do the same set up performed on iDevice - ie turn off mail, contact, calendars in iCloud and create a new Mail Account in system preferences with the email address.
    Hope that helps

  • HT204053 My wife and I both have music on each of our accounts but we would like to merge our libraries so we can both access our music together. How can we do this?

I bought an ipod nano for my wife for Christmas and added music to it from my library. She now wants to add some of her music from her library on her mac. How can we do this??

You will have to continue to share since you cannot merge Apple ID related accounts.  They are permanently separated.

  • How can I use the Messaging App & Game Center when both my wife and I are using same apple ID on our ipads?

When I try to set up my wife's messages app, it tells me the apple ID is already in use and won't let me go through with it.  Also, after the IOS5 update, my wife's game center login went away and syncs to mine and we cant figure out how to get it back to hers.

You will need to create a new Apple ID for your wife.  This may require a new email address too.  As for Game Center, there is a sign out dialogue on the main page if you tapon your ID.

  • How can I change the icloud id on my phone. my wife and I both use 1 acct. I would like to have a separate acct for my phone

I would like to create another ICloud acct under my apple id for my IPhone 4. My wife and I both have IPhone 4's and we are using the same acct. Please help

You can only create one iCloud account with your ID.  To create a new one, you will need a second Apple ID.  To migrate your data to a new iCloud account, first decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, any data in your accounts that you don't want (such as your wife's contacts in your account, and vice versa), you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete it.

  • My wife and I both have the iphone and we use my macbook pro with iTunes to sync our ipods. When I do something on my iPhone it shows on hers. How do I set up her a seperate iTunes acct on my mac so she can operate independent of me?

There's info here on setting up separate libraries and user accounts. You won't have to reload (or re-import) all the music, just copy it.
The reason I suggest separate accounts on the Mac is because if you have the two libraries under the same user account, iTunes will also open the last library that was open in that account, and you'll always have to be mindful of which library that is. If you open iTunes and find it's not your library, you'll have quit, relaunch holding the option key and select the other library.
No, you won't have to log in and out of the Mac. (If I'm understanding your question here.) Multiple accounts can be logged in at the same time. And with fast user switching, you can toggle between user accounts.
I'll admit that maintaining the two libraries gets a little tricky, because if you share all the same music, you'll have to add it to one and update the other. (That won't happen automatically.) But I think Home Sharing makes this much easier to do.
    Hope that helps!

  • My wife and I both sync our iphones on the same computer. I have lost my notes and they have appeared on my wife's iphone. How do I fix this?

My wife and I both sync our iphones on the same imac.I have lost my notes> they have then shown up on her iphone. How do I fix this please ?

You can sync as many iphones/ipods/ipads as you like to one computer/library.
Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want, sync
Do the same with the other iphone.

Try using the app Viber, i sent a video from my iphone 5 to my sisters Acer phone via this Viber app and she got the 3minute video perfect. I imagine they will allow as many minutes of a video that ya want to send

  • HT3529 My wife and I both have an iphone.   We initially created it under her apple id.   We will receive each others text messages from certain people not all.   Any ideas why and what we can do to stop it

My wife and I both have an iphone.  We initially set them up under one apple id account.  When we text sometimes we will receive each others text messages from others.   Example I will text a friend...she will not see my text but the reply comes to both of us.  It seems to be random which ones.  Any ideas how to correct this

    Yup, get your own AppleID.
The messages that are being sent to both phones are technically not text, they are Apple's iMessage. They use the data part, not the texting part. So if you have an iPad or a Mac computer, you can send/receive the iMessages there too.

  • How can my wife and I use our two iTunes account on one iPad

How can my wife and I use our two iTunes accounts on one IPad

Unfortunately it will be difficult. iPads are personal devices like phones and done have credentials. You can of course log out of and into the app store to download purchased apps but the iPad will then have all the apps of both your wife and you (though you could put these into folders I guess).

    Generally YES.
It's possible to hold separate iTunes library's on a single machine.
Generate two new folders inside the Music folder of the Mini and name them differently; e.g. man and woman.
Copy your whole library into "man" and your wifes into "woman"
Go to sharing in the system settings of the Mini and share the Music folder in your network.
After copying the whole library's to the Mini you may point iTunes to the new location at startup by holding the option key (alt) at the keyboard.
iTunes will then ask you where the library is located.
Point it to the matching library on the Mini.
    That's all.
    Lupunus
PS ... If you both use only the Mini you have to setup a user account for each and just copy the whole library to the Music folder in particular.
