How do specify Class-Path in exploded directory deployment?

Currently I have an app.ear(ejb.jar,lib.jar,web.war). In the MANIFEST file of
ejb.jar I do Class-Path: lib.jar. Now I exploded the app.ear and the components
into app(ejb, lib, web) directory structure, how do I write Class-Path? ../lib did
not seem to work for me. Any suggestions?

I got the answer at the EJb newsgroup. Instead of ../lib, use just lib.

    hi all,
I've got an exploded app and I'm trying to deploy a session bean
which has some dependencies on other helper classes.. I've wrote a manifest file
and I've specified the class-path attribute, but I still get java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError..
I wonder if manifest file is working for an exploded structure...
    did anybody tried that ?
    thanks for your time,

Manifest classpath (aka JAR dependencies) is a J2EE 1.3 concept. Expect to see it when iAS supports J2EE 1.3.

  • How to detect the path of Temp directory

I am writing a class library which allows users to manipulate a database in the web server java applications/applets. In my logic the Application/Applet communicate with a CGI script/Servlet in the server and that do all the database handling. My objective is to make the Client independant from the Database Drivers, and to some restrictions and possible security threats that can arrice when accessing the database directly.
99% of the work is done and now I am doing the fine tuning.
    My Problem:
When the user downloading a blob object from the server database. each time the program read the blob it will get a new copy from the server. This is not good if the blob is large (few 100 megs) . So I am going to implement a cache system. but the problem is If I am caching in the memory it will not support large objects (Memory is a limited factor). So the preferance is use the Temperary files but I do not know how to detect the path to temperary folder.
And my 2nd questions is are the applets allowed to write and read in temperary folder.

The Java default temporary file path can be determined with
System.getProperty("java.io.tmpdir")This is typically the same value as the os environment variable

Also, put these lines of codes after getting System Properties.

    The answer is to
    - Remove the saxon9he.jar from the ${java.home}/lib/ext
    - Add APIs to whatever application requires them, at run-time.

  • How to specify relative path for file name in java class

  • How to set (class)paths for a Managed server?

How does one configure the PATH and CLASSPATH and pass definitions (like "-Djava.library.path=c:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\bin")
    to a remotely-started managed server?
The section in the WLS 6.1 AdminGuide.pdf that talks about configuring a managed
server's Remote Start tab says on pages 3-9 to 3-10 that, "If you don't specify
values for these fields and attempt to start the target server from the Administration
Console, the Node Manager will attempt to start the target server with the values
for these attributes that were used when starting the Node Manager. The Node Manager
will be able to start the Managed Server in that case if you specified the required
values on the command line when starting the Node Manager."
So it sounds as if I can get the java.library.path definition and CLASSPATH sent
to the server via the Node Manager startup command.
Does that work when using the Node Manager as an NT Service? Here is my Win2K
command file for setting up the Node Manager as an NT Service. Note that I'm trying
to tell it where to find the Windows native libraries (wlserver6.1\bin for wlntio.dll)
    and the JDBC drivers (C:\SHADOW\jdbc\... and C:\Orant\jdbc\... ) :

But when I start a server remotely, it can't find the native libraries and it
can't find the JDBC libraries in the CLASSPATH. Otherwise, it can serve up HTML
pages at the correct port number so I know it's running.
When starting a managed server remotely via the WLS 6.1 console, how do I tell
the managed server where the native libraries and JDBC libraries are?

  • How to specify relative path for background image  in xsl

    Hi,
I am generating a PDF from Apcahe FOP. I have an xsl for that, in the xsl fo:block I am displaying a background image. When the image path is absolute like..C:\image\logo.png it works fine. But I want to have the image in my WebContent\images folder and my xsl file is in WebContent\xsls folder. So when I try giving the relative path as ../images/logo.png, the image is not displayed.
Can anyone tell how to do this???
    Thanks,
    Sanjeev.

    I have a fo:block like this :
    <fo:block border-style="solid" border-width="0.2pt" text-align="left"
                             background-image="url('http://localhost:8080/Project/images/table_header_center.png')"
                             font-size="8pt" font-weight="bold" color="white" padding-top="1pt"
                             padding-bottom="1pt">
                             <xsl:value-of select="tr/td/span" />
</fo:block>In the above code you can see that the the background-image="url('http://localhost:8080/Project/images/table_header_center.png')"
has been given as absolute. The images folder is in my WebContent directory. I want this path to be relative to the context of my application , something like background-image="url('../images/table_header_center.png')".
    Thanks.

  • How to get the path of current directory?

I have the Java servlet to produce text file, and it produces to C:\hello.txt,
but I want to output in the current directory as the Java File:
    i.e. C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.1.30\webapps\ExtendedGUI\WEB-INF\classes
    try
         PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter("hello.txt"));
         out.println("HELLO");
         out.close();
    catch(IOException e)
    any ideas?? Thanks!!

The current directory is defined as the directory that you started your servlet container from. In your case, it was c:\. If you want it to fall into the same directory as your class files, I would start by finding out what TOMCAT_HOME or whatever container you're using is and adding to the directory until you get to your class directory. Make sense?
The easiest way is to read the output directory from a properties file as a resource or a hardcoded path.

  • How to know the path of file.

i am facing a problem,i have prepared a jar file of an application, which should have a path-file in it & that path-file contains loaction from where applicatioin starts, and creates some file there. but i dont know loaction when i prepared the jar file.how to solve this problem.

but it is not in my hand, My jar file will be used by a vendor to code a Servlet which will access the classes in the jar file. it cannot be solved by My jar file.
    My Question was
I have to deliver a jar file which contains my classes. This jar file will be used by a vendor to code a Servlet which will access the classes in the jar file.
One of the classes in this jar file is required to simulate a file-system (we call it "Repository"). Essentially, it creates a certain directory and reads-writes files into it.
My problem is how to specify the path (i.e. directory location) of the "Repository". Following are the possibilities I could see :
    1. Hardcode the path in the java code - This is not desirable since we do not know it while I am preparing my jar-file.
    2. Create a properties file, put Repository.path=... as an entry and package it with the jar-file - The problem is that sine this properties file is packaged in the jar, it is read-only. Hence, it cannot be changed at runtime.
I want to know what are the general approaches to this?
