How do yo highlight highest and lowest values

I Excel you can use conditional formatting to highlight the lowest or highest number in a row or column.
As a new user of iWorks I was wondering if this can be done with the conditional formatting feature within Numbers?

Not directly. The conditional formatting doesn't allow any types of formulas, only comparisons to specific cells. Create a cell somewhere that uses the MAX or MIN function to determine the highest/lowest number in your column or row. Then your conditional format will be "if equal to" that cell.

  • How to Find the highest and lowest cell in a column and figure the difference

    What I am tryng to do is have numbers find the high and low in Cloumn B and and put the difference in B6. So I would need it to Figure out that B3 is the highest and B2 is the lowest and give me the difference of .25 in B6

    Don,
    Begin by making Row 6 a Footer Row. You will find that option in the row tab menu that appears when you hover over the 6 tab and click the triangle.
    Then enter this formula in B6:
    =MAX(B)-MIN(B)

  • Help Displaying Highest and Lowest Numbers

    Hello everyone, I'm new to Java and I have an issue with my program.
    All it does is randomly select 5 numbers from 1-10 right now, but I want it to display to the user the highest and lowest number that was selected. I'm not entirely sure how to do this so if you could help me that would be great. Here is my program.
    import java.util.Random;
         public class Dice
              public static void main(String[] args)
                   Random generator = new Random();
                   int num1;
                   int num2;
                   int num3;
                   int num4;
                   int num5;
                   int lowestnumber;
                   int highestnumber;
                   System.out.println("Let's roll the 10 sided dice!");
                   num1 = generator.nextInt(11);
                   System.out.println("Roll #1: " + num1);
                   num2 = generator.nextInt(11);
                   System.out.println("Roll #2: " + num2);
                   num3 = generator.nextInt(11);
                   System.out.println("Roll #3: " + num3);
                   num4 = generator.nextInt(11);
                   System.out.println("Roll #4: " + num4);
                   num5 = generator.nextInt(11);
                   System.out.println("Roll #5: " + num5);
    //This is where my problem is, I'm not sure how to go about getting my two integers to read the highest
    //and lowest number.
                   System.out.println("The highest number you rolled was: " + highestnumber);
                   System.out.println("The lowest number you rolled was : " + lowestnumber);

    }Instead of having a bunch of separate ints, you could just have one array and use an insertion sorting algorithm...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insertion_sort
    So instead, you would have:
    import java.util.Random;
    public class Dice
    public static void main(String[] args)
    Random generator = new Random();
    int[] nums;
    int lowestnumber;
    int highestnumber;
    System.out.println("Let's roll the 10 sided dice!");
    nums[0] = generator.nextInt(11);
    System.out.println("Roll #1: " + nums[0]);
    nums[1] = generator.nextInt(11);
    System.out.println("Roll #2: " + nums[1]);
    nums[2] = generator.nextInt(11);
    System.out.println("Roll #3: " + nums[2]);
    nums[3] = generator.nextInt(11);
    System.out.println("Roll #4: " + nums[3]);
    nums[4] = generator.nextInt(11);
    System.out.println("Roll #5: " + nums[4]);
    nums = InsertionSorting(nums);
    //The sorting method will sort the number from lowest to highest, thus:
    highestnumber = nums[4];
    lowestnumber = nums[0];
    System.out.println("The highest number you rolled was: " + highestnumber);
    System.out.println("The lowest number you rolled was : " + lowestnumber);
    public static int[] InsertionSorting (int[] a) {
              for (int i = 1; i < a.length; i++ )
                  int value = a;          // next item to be inserted in order
              int j;
              // Back up in the array to find the spot for value.
              for ( j = i - 1; j >= 0 && a[j] > value; j-- )
         // This element is bigger than the element being inserted,
         // so move it up one slot.
         a[j+1] = a[j];
         // a[j] is the item that should precede value.
              // Put value after it.
         a[j+1] = value;
              return a;
    The comments in the insertion sort are not my own... I yoinked it from the web.
    I apologize if there are any errors. Hope it helps
    Edit: __colin  has a good suggestion... you'd want to use something like that as well for error protection.
    Silly me, I just realized that my sorting is way more complicated than it needs to be... But it's fun anyway! -slightly embarassed-

    Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I dont know which tablel you are referring to, is it PAYR table and the field VOIDR?
    If a cheque is voided, it would have a reason and it is stored in VOIDR field of this PAYR table.
    Check if the field VOIDR is filled, if it is filled, do not print the amount and date.

  • How I can highlight, copy and paste using magic mouse?

    I'm wondering how I can use Magic Mouse to highlight, copy and paste documents. I look at directions in manual and preferences, but could not find the answer.

    Just like any mouse. Click down at the start of text you want to highlight, drag to the end of the text. To copy, either use cmd-C, or ctrl-click (hold down the ctrl key and click) or right-click, and click Copy in the popup menu. For paste, cmd-V, or use Paste in the right-click menu.

  • After zooming, how do I get x and y values?

    I have an instrument that saves data in a simple x and y format. When viewing this data I would like to determine the peak width, height, position and area. I have utilized the peak detector vi to pick the peak and set the threshold, however, I have not been successful at getting the peak width and area for a specific peak. I think my first step is to isolate the data range that my peak resides. So, after zooming on a specific peak, how do I extract the x and y values for that zoomed region and apply them to peak integration and fitting? Does anyone have a sample vi I could look at or is there already a canned vi in Labview to do this?
    Thanks
    Brian

    Have you tried to use the peak detector vi to search for *valleys* ? That could give you the peak start and end.
    If you decide to use manual positionning of peaks, you can get the x limits of the graph display using property nodes : Right click on the graph terminal then Create>>Property node. Right click on the property node then Properties>>X scale>>Range.
    You could also use graph cursors (wave form graph or XY graph) : make the cursor legend visible (right click on the graph), then give a name to cursor n°0 (peak start) and cursor n°1 (peak end). Set the cursor to "Lock to points". Get the x and y cursor coordinates using the cursor list property node, as illustrated in the attached example.
    Once you get the x start and end coordinates, data
    processing should not be too difficult, but depends on the data type you are dealing with (are the points equally spaced ? Are the data noisy ?..).
    If your start and end X coordinates do not correspond exactly to experimental data, you can either interpolate through the points or search for the index of the nearest points in the x array (use the Threshold 1D array vi for that, pass the x fractional value (that you got from your windowing zoom) as input, as shown in the second example.
    Ask if you need more help.

  • How to access sort direction and filter value of columns?  Can I catch the 'filtered' or 'sorted' event?

    We have some columns being added to a table.  We have set the sortProperty and the filterProperty on each of our columns.
    This allows us to both filter and sort.
    We want to be able to access the columns filter value and sort value after the fact.  Can we access the table and then the columns and then a columns properties to find these two items?  How can I access the sort direction and filter value of columns?
    We would also like to store the filter value and the sort direction, and re-apply them to the grid if they have been set in the past.  How can we dynamically set the filter value and sort direction of a column?
    Can I catch or view the 'filtered' or 'sorted' event?  We would like to look at the event that occurs when someone sorts or filters a column.  Where can I see this event or where can i tie into it, without overwriting the base function?

    Hey everyone,
    Just wanted to share how I implemented this:
    Attach a sort event handler to table - statusReportTable.attachSort(SortEventHandler);
    In this event handler, grab the sort order and sorted column name then set cookies with this info
    function SortEventHandler(eventData)
        var sortOrder = eventData.mParameters.sortOrder;
        var columnName = eventData.mParameters.column.mProperties.sortProperty;
        SetCookie(sortDirectionCookieName, sortOrder, tenYears);
        SetCookie(sortedColumnCookieName, columnName, tenYears);
    Added sortProperty and filterProperty to each column definition:
    sortProperty: "ColName", filterProperty: "ColName",
    When i fill the grid with data, i check my cookies to see if a value exists, and if so we apply this sort:
    function FindAndSortColumnByName(columnName, sortDirection (true or false))
        var columns = sap.ui.getCore().byId('statusReportTable').getColumns();
        var columnCount = columns.length;
        for(var i = 0; i < columnCount; i ++)
            if(columns[i].mProperties.sortProperty == columnName)
                columns[i].sort(sortDirection);

  • Linear Regression - How to view t-statistic and p-value

    How can we view the t-statistic and p-value for the predictors in a linear regression or multiple linear regression model?

  • Conditional formatting: greatest and lowest values in a column?

    I have a column of data, with about 30 rows of values. Is it possible to setup conditional formatting so that Numbers highlights the top three highest values and the lowest three values in the column?
    thanks!

    How's this:
    1. Create the second table for the large and small formulas. I did one column, you should be able to copy it to the rest of them.
    2. Create the conditional format for the first data cell in the first row of your data table (go to the cell inspector and choose "show rules" to get to the conditional formatting pane).
    3. Select the cell, Copy Style, select all the other data cells in the row and Paste Style to copy that conditional format to the other columns. At this point, the conditional format in the other columns will be incorrect (they will all refer to the large/small values for the first column), you'll have to modify each manually so they refer to the correct cells in the "large/small" table.
    4. Copy Style and Paste Style each of those conditional formats to the rest of the cells in each column.
    One caveat: You may get more than three smallest/largest values highlighted under certain conditions. For instance if you have four 1's and "1" is your smallest value, all four would get highlighted. If you have two 1's and two 2's, and they are your smallest values all four would get highlighted. If you have 1,2,3,3 and they are your smallest values you would also get four highlighted. Similar case for the largest values. It doesn't appearthat this would be a problem for your data.

  • How to update bind variable and restrict values in a Model Driven LOV?

    Hi Guys,
    Using JDev 11.1.1.2.0
    I've recreated an excellent Frank Nimphius article about restricting values derived from a model driven LOV (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/44-restrict-lov-169186.pdf)
    But my bind variable isn't updating. Deleting the bind variable gets me the entire LOV. Activate the code below and insert a bind variable into the where clause like Frank says and I get nothing back. Bind variable is blank. Any ideas? Code wasn't supplied with the article. It seems simple enough but the bind variable isn't updating in the SQL, even though the updated value shows up here...
      public void onLovLaunch(LaunchPopupEvent launchPopupEvent)
        BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
        BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
        FacesCtrlLOVBinding lov = (FacesCtrlLOVBinding)bindings.get("DepartmentId");
        lov.getListIterBinding().getViewObject().setNamedWhereClauseParam("deptId","60");
        System.out.println("lov name: " + lov.getName().toString());
        System.out.println("lov Param Attrs: " + lov.getListIterBinding().getViewObject().getNamedWhereClauseParams().getAttribute("deptId").toString());
        System.out.println("lov View Object: " + lov.getListIterBinding().getViewObject().getName().toString());
        System.out.println("lov IterBinding: " + lov.getListIterBinding().getName().toString());
       }Gets me ...
    lov name: DepartmentId
    lov Param Attrs: 60
    lov View Object: _LOCAL_VIEW_USAGE_lov_model_queries_EmployeesView_DepartmentsView
    lov IterBinding: DepartmentIdList_2

    That's a good idea, but it's still not working. Here is how I implemented it. It might be different from your suggestion as I'm still pretty new to this.
    I have a recursive tree table. You select a node. You then click a button which calls the listener below. "findParents" is a method call to the AppModuleImpl class and it finds all parent nodes of your selection. "restrictPartBomLOV", also of the AppModuleImpl class, then modifies the model driven lists' View Object (partBomLOV) to exclude those parent node values.
    The resulting model driven LOV on the popup should be updated, yeah? But it still isn't udpating. If I manually type in the updated Where clause in PartBomLOV.xml query tab, it works, but it doesn't programmatically.
      public void insertPopupFetchListener(PopupFetchEvent popupFetchEvent)
        BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
        OperationBinding operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("findParents");
        parents = (List)operationBinding.execute();
        operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("restrictPartBomLOV");
        operationBinding.execute();
       public void restrictPartBomLOV(List parents)
          ViewObjectImpl vo = getPartBomLOV();
          String wcl = "";
          Object[]   p = parents.toArray();
          for(int i = 0; i < p.length; i++)
             if (i == 0)
                wcl = wcl + "PNUM <> '" + p.toString() + "'";
    else
    wcl = wcl + "AND PNUM <> '" + p[i].toString() + "'";
    vo.setWhereClause(wcl);
    System.out.println(vo.getWhereClause().toString());
    vo.executeQuery();
