How do you make a button download pdf file in edge animate?

Hi does anyone know the code or know how to make a download button in edge animate, that when you click the button it will fetch a pdf file from your pc root folder and offer it to download.

Hi Wayne,
To make a button download a PDF, you'll have to upload your PDF somewhere online and add the link to your button in Animate using the Open URL button in the actions popup.
Here's a good tutorial which will get you started with some of the basics of Animate, including how to create buttons. The link on your button would just be the URL of your PDF.
Cheers,
Sarah

  • How can you make one button preform different actions in Xcode?

How can you make one button "preform a click" and "orderfront"? Is that possible? Because what I am doing is making a welcome window to my application for Mac OS X 10.6, and I have two buttons in that window, one says "Connect" which connects a a WebView to a url and the other button opens up the main window. So how can I a make a button do multiple things at once??

Ah - If you are just using bindings between various objects from Interface Builder, you can reduce your application code a bit (sometimes quite a bit), but there is only so far you can go. Typically variables and routines are defined in your application that Interface Builder hooks into, so that your application code (usually Objective-C, but can be others) can use these variables and routines to determine what is happening in the user interface.
I'm not sure how up-to-date the project code is (or what programming code you are familiar with), but you can take a look at Apple's Cocoa Application Tutorial to see what is (usually) involved in creating an application.

  • How do you change text on a PDF file

How do you change text on a PDF file

If at all possible, you don't. You get the original (pre-PDF file), you edit that.
Adobe Acrobat has some very limited facilities which sometimes allow very simple text edits to PDF (e.g. change a phone number).

  • How do you make multiple buttons link to specific paragraphs within the destination page?

    Hi
The best way i can describe this is I want to link four buttons on my homepage to a page named 'services'. Each button refers to a different section on the 'services' page.
So what I want to happen is when I link each button, i want the user to be able to click on one and then be transferred to the 'services' page, but halfway down the page at the relevant paragraph or wherever the relevant section is.
How do you do this people?
    Thanks for your time

i would kind of like a mini form, like failblog has. they have a pic, and then some comments, how do you do that? i don't need them to log in or anything, i'll just have a name section, then the comment area.
also how do you have users upload files?
even though i'm doing this for a class project, i'd like to do this part, to make it look more real. anyway, i want to have a form, i guess with name, e-mail, then i want them to be able to upload a file, but how do you do the uploading part?

If your web server supports PHP, you'll find what you need at Gentle Source.

  • How can I make chromium to open PDF files directly in okular?

    Hi all,
I switched from firefox to chromium and there is one thing that I would like to have solved: At the moment, the only way to open PDF files from the web is to first save them locally and open them afterwards from the chromium statusbar or from the chromium downloads tab (chrome://downloads/). Is there a way to configure chromium to open PDF files directly from a remote URL in okular?
Thanks in advance & kind regards,
    jamesbond007.

Yes, I would like to know that as well. Here it tries to open pdf files with the adobe plugin but fails (grey window). It's especially annoying with javascript links that do not allow to use "save as".

  • How do I make safari open a pdf file with acrobat x instead of reader

I would like a pdf file from a link in Safari to open the linked file with adobe acrobat x rather than either adobe reader of the safari version.  Where can I set the preference to get this done?

Aha!  The properties for the plugin file nppdf32.dll for Adobe Reader indicate the file is for Adobe Acrobat.  This misidentification is then used by SeaMonkey as a label in the helper application list.
Adobe Reader 11.0.3.37:  nppdf32.dll has version 11.0.3.37.  This is the version in SeaMonkey's plugins folder.
    Adobe Acrobat 7.0.8.218:  nppdf32.dll has version 7.0.9.50.
As for having both Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat on the same PC, this generally works providing Reader is installed AFTER Acrobat.  Reader is freeware, and I want to keep it current.  Acrobat is purchaseware, and I cannot afford to keep buying  upgrades or newer versions.

  • How do you remove a symbol from the stage in Edge animate?

    Hello-
I'm wondering how to remove a symbol from the stage in Edge Animate so you can jump to another place in the timeline.  In Flash, the symbol was only on the stage for the amount of frames you indicated.  Not sure how it works here.
For example, I have 2 buttons on my first screen with some text that animates in.  I want the button click to take the user to another section in the timeline or (basically another scene, like in Flash)  that contains different content.  If I change the visibility the buttons are still there and will ( I assume) create problems when other elements are placed on top.
Or is the only way with code.  If that is the case what would that code be?
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thank you!

What I usually do, is, once you have everything set up in the scene you are done with. highlight it all
    right click
    group elements in DIV
Now all those items act as 1 group and then you give it a properties name, much like a symbol.
THEN you can refer to that scene name and move it anywhere or hide it and slide in another scene that has the content for that next scene.
basically you take all the elements that make up 1 scene, gruop it up, name it, and then in the code for the button say something like:
    on click:
    scenename.play(framenumber);
that will then animate that scene according to any animation you gave it, such as moving to the left, off stage. while moving scene 2 that you create into the stage.
or just have something like this hide it
    sym.$("scenename").hide();
    sym.$("scene2name").show();
but if you do that, make sure in your CompositionReady code you hide all scenes EXCEPT the 1st one, so the user doesnt see them all instanatly anyway.

  • PDF files in edge animate

Is there a way to load a PDF file into a symbol on the stage that does not require an internet connection?

Here is a simple example using an iFrame - sample just loads a .pdf file into an element, using required parameters as per Acrobat documentation
    View: http://www.heathrowe.com/edge/embed_pdf/
    Dl: http://www.heathrowe.com/edge/embed_pdf/embed_pdf.zip
Once downloaded open .an file in Animate and go to the Stage > CompositionReady event handler. You will see a use case to load a pdf file from your drive. In my example the source file (src) is relative to the root (Edge Animate) document. In other in the sample folder as the edge .html file.

  • How do you make a button's background invisible?

I'm trying to make a Jbutton in which you can only see the icon on it, nothing of the background to it. I can make the border dissapear, but when i set the background to null it comes out a nice shade of grey which doesnt compliment the image the buttons happens to be over at that time.
What do I need to do?

But that may not help, cuz if the panel under the button is gray, that'll just show thru also. ...
that should've been setOpaque(false) for transparent.

  • How do you make the button to be displayed beside the text field?

I need help on doing this for a company. As of above subject.

In the intern's defense, that documentation isn't what I would call a "quick read." It's virtually >impossible to assimilate all the voodoo in one gulp. And the whole branches, buttons, items and >layout stuff is pretty frustrating. I'm just getting started, and I can sympathize with the tone of >voice. I couldn't disagree more......
In my experience, a prerequisite of learning any computer language or system is reading the associated documentation. If you're the sort of person who likes to just dive into writing code without understanding the fundamental basics of how the language/system works then you're going to encounter lots of problems no matter whether you're using Apex, Java, Perl etc.
Nobody is saying that you should spend days and days reading the documentation as though you were preparing for an exam, however if you don't take the time to learn some of the basic concepts then the only person who is going to suffer is you (and also perhaps the users of your system!).
If you feel the documentation is too big for you to take in in one sitting, then break it into chunks. Set yourself a few little mini-projects to do, with each one using a different piece of functionality (for example reports, branches, collections etc).
The more you put into learning (and using) Apex the more you will get out of it.
