How do you manage multiple users, iTunes and icloud

I haven't figured this out yet.  I have an iTunes account, two daughters who buy most of the music on it but we all share the account.  We all have Macbooks and iPhone 4 or 4S.  I don't want to download their music and they don't want to download mine.  How do we blend iTunes, iCloud and our phones and Macs without so much cross-pollination?  I already have music in my library that has been downloaded since I got my new iPhone and activated iCloud and it's music they purchased.

After you have done the search, you can swipe downward slightly on the keyboard and it will disappear and you will see "EDIT" in the bottom right corner. You can tap on that, select whatever emails you want and then you are given the choice to "Mark, Move, Trash, Cancel". It will even verify the number of mails you have selected.

  • How do you setup multiple users with multiple devices on itunes?

I'm trying to find the easiest solution to our family music situation.  4 users, 4 devices (ipods, ipad, imac, pc laptops), and 4 different musical song interests.  I'm sure there are millions of households that have the same exact situation.  I want to be able to pull up only my musical library, not my kid's music, and then easily synch it to my ipod.  Everyone in the family wants to do this same thing.  I have spent alot of time trying to search the forums/internet and there does not seem to be one "most popular" solution.  I did setup iCloud for each family member using a different Apple ID than my main Apple ID, and I'm happy that ALL the music shows up on my ipad.  But between iCloud, MobileMe, Home Sharing it all gets very confusing.  Some say to setup multiple computer login accounts, and others say to setup 1 playlist for each family member and synch from that playlist.
I would think 1 itunes account allows you to easily share a purchased song with 4 users, instead of buying songs twice.
So here are a few of my questions-
1-Is it best to have only 1 itunes account and then synch all devices off of 1 main computer?
2-Or since we each have iCloud accounts, will they be able to synch their ipods from their own pc laptop?
3-And when they synch, what is the easiest way to exclude other users music in itunes? (other than unchecking hundreds of artists)
4-Or setup 4 separate computer login accounts on the imac and then keep 1 itunes account?  If so, how does this work when they open itunes?
Again, I'm hoping for a straightforward simple solution.  I don't want to move & create libraries, download 3rd party software, etc. etc.  Please reply if you found something that works for your family.  Thanks in advance.

turingtest, I do have a couple questions.
Number one, does everyone in your family only sych their ipods from only 1 computer?  If everyone only uses itunes from 1 computer I can see how that will work.  But what if kids want to use itunes for windows?  Will "Home Sharing" allow all their music purchased on the MAC, to be also displayed on their itunes for windows laptop?  I noticed you have PCs and also an ipad.  How do you manage your family's music on these devices?
Also, how did you first get everyone's music library into their own library?  Drag & drop?  Is the "grouping field" you mentioned under "view", then "view options"?  What does this do?
    Thanks.
Sorry I missed your post earlier. Normally I follow up on any replies. This one must have fallen off the page on a busy day.
As my kids have left home I have created for them a complete clone of the familiy library, then deleted the tracks from it they don't want. Over time their libraries will divirge, but if needs be they can still update their devices using the library at home. Handy when eldest's kit was stolen.
Grouping is just another property, useful because it isn't generally overwritten by other software but is stored in the tags, so preserved when you copy files from one place to another. You can make the column visible and edit for multiple tracks in Get Info. Some software calls the same field "mood" or "sub-genre". iTunes has a specialist purpose for it generally used with classical music, but it doesn't seem to work very well for that and I don't use it that way.

  • How can I Manage Multiple Users?

My wife and I both want to organize and edit our digital photos with PSE10.  Up until now, I have managed all of our photos by myself, and I have synchronized all data on both of our computers (and backed up all of our data to an external harddrive).  Now that my wife also wants to organize and edit our photos on her computer, I am finding it difficult to synchronize the PSE Catalogs and photos on our two computers.  So, I am looking for a better procedure.
Should I (and can I) keep my PSE Catalog & Photos on:
    (1) an External Harddrive (which would be connected to only one computer at a time, while that computer user is organizing and editing photos), or
    (2) on a Home Network location where both users could access the photos for organizing and editing (with a "lockout" for photos which are being edited by the other computer user)?
Are there other good or better procedures for managing multiple users of PSE?
My computer is running Win7 Home Premium 64-bit.
My wife's computer is running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

Thank all of you for your replies.
    Re SOFTWARE CHOICES:
I decided that my wife and I will each use different software on our different computers.
I decided NOT to upgrade my wife's software from "Windows Live Photo Gallery" (WLPG) to "Adobe Photoshop Elements 10" (PSE).  After a detailed discussion of my wife's wishes, I discovered that she only wants to (1) move our pictures into folders, (2) cull the pix, and (3) create "Album" folders (with only our most memorable pix) to be printed as 8.5" x 11" pages for the Albums.  She wants me to crop, edit, add captions, and print the Album pages.  See the image at the bottom for our current Photo Mgmt Plan.
I will continue to use "Lightroom" (Lr).
    Re SYCHRONIZATION:
I decided that we both can use the same picture files.  I use "GoodSync" to sychronize files between my computer and my wife's computer (and between my computer and my backup HDD).
My wife's "WLPG" does NOT appear to use a database.  My changes (including "Keyword" edits or adds) show up in her "WLPG" program, when picture files have been changed by myself in "Lr" and sychronized with her computer.
After my wife adds folders and/or changes the folder contents, I sync her computer with mine.  I open her folders (which are now also on my computer) in "Lr", and "Import" any of her new and duplicate pictures into "Lr".  Surpisingly and thankfully, the pictures that have been moved to a new folder by my wife do NOT show up in "Lr" in the previous folder (i.e. I do NOT have to find and delete any "Missing" images which were in the previous folder location).
Re MULTIPLE USERS OF A DATABASE:
I do not need to use this now, but I read that "Lr" is designed to work with the "Lr" database (and pictures) on an external HDD.
Thank all of you again for your very helpful replies.

  • How do YOU manage multiple displays in Mountain Lion?

I'm finding that Mountain Lion's changed display management awfully hard to rationalize. I recently purchased a Macbook Air. I love it, but as a developer I did need more screen real estate. A few days ago I plugged an external 22" monitor in and was horrified to discover that a) full-screen mode renders one display worthless b) flipping between spaces flips BOTH screens.
This is entirely incomprehensible to me, but I'll leave the question of the wisdom of the decision for others to debate.
What I want to do is simple. Either:
    a) be able to flip between spaces on either display INDEPENDENT of the other
    and/or
    b) Flip between spaces on one display while leaving the other untouched. For example, using one as a reference screen while flipping between the browser and my code editor.
So, fellow developers and power users, how do YOU manage this scenario? Is there some 3rd-party utility that allows me to easily restore the functionality I had in previous versions of OSX?

    Why not start here.

  • How do we manage multiple users in a CAL account

    Hello Gurus,
A colleague of mine has created an instance of HANA in CAL and I'd like to access it because we need to develop together, but we're not sure how to do so. We can see tabs "Accounts" and "Users" in CAL but how do we add someone else's user to your own CAL account?
Ideally, we'd like to both manage the same account (to start/stop the instances) with our own separate users. Should be very easy to do and yet there's no indication on how to do it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Daniel,
Lemme explain that in detail so that, you have a clear picture on this :-)
    For Paid Subscriptions:
    >> The pricing works per active instance, per month: so you can have only one active instance at a given point in time in your CAL account. This means you should see only one instance under the "Instances" tab in your CAL account (the state of the instance can be active or suspended but as long as you see an instance under the "Instances" tab - it is counted as an active instance).
    >> If you want to create another instance (a new solution instance), then first you will have to terminate/destroy the previous instance under the "Instances" tab so that, the Instances tab is empty and then you can go ahead and create a new instance. You can do this multiple times and create multiple instances from the solutions library as long as you follow the above mentioned rules.
    For Free Trials:
    >> The above restrictions do not apply for free trials and you can create multiple "unique" trial instances in parallel. For example: you can create one trial instance for BW on HANA trial and in parallel you can create another trail instance for ERP on HANA and another instance for CRM on HANA (so you can have 3 different trial instances running in your CAL account at the same time under the "Instances" tab) but you CANNOT create two instances of the same trial (so you cannot have two instances of BW on HANA trial in the same account).
    For Users:
    >> You can add multiple users from your organization in your CAL account and give them administrator or read only access to the solutions instances in your account.
Btw, thanks for bringing-up this question, I will add this to our FAQ section as this would be helpful for everybody.
Hope this info. helps and lemme know if you have additional questions.
    Best Regards,
    Adarsh

  • How do you manage multiple Instances of an adjustment

I'm trying very hard to learn Aperture but, one thing that I can't seem to figure out is how to manage multiple instances of the same adjustment. As an example, I create a new exposure adjustment to brush in exposure on the subjects teeth and then a second exposure adjustment to bush in an exposure on a tree in the background and a third instance to brush in exposure to some other element in the photograph - how do I know which exposure brick adjusts which element in the photo. I guess I could use the overlay to identify the element associated with each adjustment brick but that seem kind of heavy handed.  Is there a better way to associate each instance of an adjustment brick with the elements in the photograph it impacts?

Frank has answered your question.  I have a follow-up question:

Are you able to apply multiple Exposure Bricks?  I have never been able to do that.
The workflow you describe seems to derive from Photoshop (with it's named layers).  Aperture is by design more focused on the end result than the process.  I tend to use as few multiple Bricks as possible.  I do vary the strength of the Brush when brushing in different parts of the Image within the same Brick.

  • How do you manage all your vector and image resources?

I plan to reuse many images and vector arts I've created. As of now, if I want to reuse an image or vector, i have to oepn the file and copy/paste image vector. Is there a faster way than this? Is there a manager I do not know of?
    Thanks!

You nissed an important part of the video if you hold the shift key when you drag and drop then the artt or image is embedded. If you do not hold any keys while drag and drop then it will be linked you have a choice.
The bridge offers you much more flexibility and information about the file as well include=ing the metadata, also you missed the point about the fact that as part of ID and Photoshop then have a panel, like any other panel, that accesses the Bridge, it is called the mini bridge. So you only would launch Illustrator and access the mini brif=dgte if it had the feature.
But since it does not have the feature like ID or PS then you need them both visible. I happen to always keep the bridge active in the background and bring it to the front when I need it with a keyboard short cut.
But as you are suggesting because you are not use to this work flow you have a hard time relating, but it is a powerful tool thaat allows you to work with many auto feaatures of PS, FW, AI etc.
All you have to do is read about the Bridge in the help files or check out the Bridge Forum and ask about the fetures and you will find it an incredibly powerful tool that will saave you time and many headaches.

  • How do you acquire multiple image buffers and save to disk later?

    Good morning everyone,
I am working with the LabVIEW code posted below.   I am taking images through a CCD camera at a high frequency.  Therefore, I need this code to be able to keep up with the trigger.  I take anywhere from 30 to a few 100 images and acquire them through buffers.  The code I have now (which I got from someone else in my lab; I did not write it) saves the images in the for loop in which each is required.  This slows down the code considerably.  Timing is important to my application.  Does anyone know if there is a way to set each buffer aside after they are acquired and then save them to disk AFTER all the images are acquired.  I think this will allow the code to keep up with the trigger.
As a side question, I would like to have the code trigger my camera on both the rising and falling edge of the trigger pulse.  As you can see from the code, I tried to set this up, but the method I tried doesn't work; each time a new trigger is setup it wipes out the old one.  Is there a way to set up 2 triggers?
    Thank you very much,
    Matt

Left from the loop there's an "Array Subset" vi because I didn't use the first two pictures of the ring.
So you can forget about it and wire the ring directly to the "For Loop".
You can see the Ring as an array of images, so basically you don't need any VI to retrieve an image from the ring, just an "Index array" will do.
Wire the output of the "Index array" to an image control.
This is of course if you first fill the ring and then process it.
If you want live images, then you can use the vi you're using to extract an image from the buffer but I understood that you want to acquire images as fast as possible and process them afterwards.
Correct? Yes, then you don't need the "IMAQ Extract Buffer" vi.
And yes, you can remove everything from the loop, just check if the number of frames is reached.
When all frames are acquired, quit the loop and process the ring buffer.
I checked your code again, and observed that you do nothing with the ring buffer
You build it up in the first For loop and delete it at the end of the code but never used it in the loop
I attach a larger view of the acquisition loop, so that you can have a better idea of the whole ring stuff.
I have a shift register for the ring so that all states can access it.
The state "Save all images" loops through the array, to save the images one by one.
I'm sorry I can't post the complete vi, it's way too large and contains lots of sub vi's to analyse the images and handle the I/O toward the process line.

  • HT1351 how do I manage multiple iPods (mine and my children's) on one computer?

Hi--my children recieved iPODs for Christmas and now I'm faced with managing 3 iPODs on my laptop.  How do I keep the accounts/playlists/syncs separate?
    Thanks

The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways for managing the media content. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iDevices using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their device. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed and need rebuilding. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.
