How do I save a Pages template as a separate document? I madea schedule template, and now that it is filled in for Sept/Oct, how do I save it as such?

The first time you save a document made from a template you will get the new document/save as dialog. A template is a special kind of document that will open a new, untitled document when you choose it, either in the template chooser or by double-clicking in a Finder window. A Pages template has the .template file extension. If your "template" isn't really a template, you will need to duplicate the document & then save it.

You can Duplicate the file then Save it as a .doc file.
In Mountain Lion (I don't think this is in Lion), you would click on File then press the Option key to get 'Save As'.

How can I save a pages document so it can be opened in a Windows (Word) program?

Word can't read .pages documents. You have to export the Pages  document to a Word document. File > export or share > Word
Download the Pages User Guide from your Pages Help menu to learn more about how Pages works.

  • How can I save one page from a long PDF document?

I have a 400+ page PDF and want to email just one page to a colleague. How do I save just that page? I've tried the Print > Save As PDF, but it says "not supported."

Gracias, Claudio! I did as you recommended and it works. I wish it were possible to save individual pages using the Reader, though, as I don't do that enough to justify purchasing Acrobat. Also, I don't know how to tell if a PDF is protected, and maybe this one is. Thanks!

  • How do you save a Pages '09 document so that it can be read by an older Mac with Pages '08 loaded

I am trying out a version of iWork '09 but can see no way of saving a copy of documents in iWork'08 so that someone can read the documents who has not upgraded can read the document.

You can read one of the many threads about Save As… no longer in Lion. It has been replaced with Duplicate then Save… which gets you to the same dialog box. This screenshot is from Save in Numbers, but it looks the same in Pages. Check the box next to Save copy as & choose iWork '08 from the drop-down menu.

  • How do you save a pages's document as a word document?

I'm working on a report and need to send it to someone that works on a PC

    File > Export > Word.
More information on this you can find in the Pages User Guide downloadable from your Pages Help menu.

  • How do you save individual pages in a template

If I create a template it gives me an option of how many pages to capture. Capturing three pages then gives me one item in the menu for managing pages. If I save this as a template when it opens I get three pages.
What I need in the template is three individual pages, say cover, text 1 and text 2, all selectable from the pages menu - just the way the apple templates appear.
The user manual gives instructions about deleting pages if you only want them to appear in the submenu but in spite of a number of experiments I've failed to make this work. Any deletions, after capturing a page but before saving the template simply lose the page.
Can any one provide any insights into how to create templates with a list of pages.
I've posted a related question on section breaks that may form part of the solution.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    G4 MDD, 17" Pb   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

To capture individual pages you need to put a section break at the beginning of each page. Then follow the instructions in the help menu. (See your other post for details.)

  • How do I save a Pages 2012 document as an iWork '08 file?

How do I save a Pages 2012 document as an iWork '08 file?

    Kev,
The File > Save... dialog seems to be only available for documents that are in an "unversioned" state. (I don't know what the official title is for the condition of having a document that is unmodified from its initial naming, so I'll call it "unversioned", meaning that it hasn't had a version update to it's base state.
If you start from a template your first save will be a File > Save... Right after this first Save, your document has no Version History. It's "unversioned".
If you File > Duplicate you have created a new document in an "unversioned" state and your next Command-S will give you the option to save a copy to '08 format, the same option you had during your first document save.
My understanding of this situation is that any file with a Version History is stored across two files, one with the base document and one containing the revisions, the changes you've made since the initial save. Save a Version updates the file containing the changes. File > Duplicate combines the base file and the revisions into one new base document, ready to be Saved. After saving, if you make some changes in this new document your option is again to Save a Version or Duplicate and the cycle continues.
There are also Revert options that I haven't discussed, but I haven't studied them to know what the menu behavior is.
I know it can seem confusing and I'm not defending it, but I will recognize Apple's right to try to move the technology forward and I accept that I can learn what's going on and move with them, or I can get off the bus and watch it go down the road without me. It's not the first time I've had to try to figure out what's going on, and I'm sure it won't be the last. If you think I have the logic wrong I'd love to discuss your observations. I'm not interested in discussing if Apple should be doing this or not.

  • HT4641 How do I save a pages document into a format a pc can open?

How do I save a pages document that a pc can open.  eg jpeg, rtf pdf etc?

I assume you're using Pages on an iOS device since that is the forum you've posted in.
Tap on the wrench/spanner at the upper right & choose Share & Print. From there you can choose to e-mail or save to iTunes & then choose a format such as PDF or Word.
If you should be asking about Pages on a Mac, use File > Export & choose Word or PDF.

  • How do I save a Pages document unlocked

My partner is sending me Pages docs,  but they are all locked, so I can't edit.  How do you save pages docs unlocked

    Hi JC,
Can you open and read the documents in Pages?
If not, do they open, and are they readable in Preview, MS Word, or one of the open source Office applications?
If the documents open in Pages, they are likely Pages documents; if you can then read them, the documents themselves are not 'locked.'
They may consist of text in text boxes, and if so, the text boxes may be locked to prevent accidental changes to their contents or position. To unlock, select the box you want to edit. You should see a small 'x' at each corner of the box when it is selected. Go Arrange (menu) > Unlock to unlock the selected object (in this case a text box).
More detail, please on what behvoiurs lead you to describe the documents as "locked."
    Regards,
    Barry
