How do you solve issue of reports timing out with SSRS (2008 R2) Report Manger?

When trying to access reports through Report Manager we get an error:
An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError)
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
The reports were all running ok until the night before last when some more reports were deployed.
Now that this has occurred it is impossible to carry out any action on the reports in the Report Manager - e.g. delete etc.
This issue is also affecting Reports that are accessed through the ReportServer.
A typical log we get is as below:
  <Product>Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 2009.0100.1600.01 ((KJ_RTM).100402-1539 )</Product>

  • HT1918 How do you solve an issue with the card? I don't get the option of 'none' :(

How do you solve an issue with the card? I don't get the option of 'none'

I had this exact same problem with the new iPhone I bought on 1/4/13. The walk through they provide on how to do this is useless because it fails to explain that if you are already having the problem of not getting the "None" payment option with an Apple ID then you will need to create a completely new Apple ID.
I had to do this 7 times since I bought my iPhone on Friday until this morning to figure out how to finally be able to use the Home Sharing option in iTunes to put my music collection on my brand new $500.00 iPhone. Pretty pathetic if you ask me but since it made me so angry I want to make sure other know how to do this so you don't get as upset as I did.
#1 If your current or soon to be "old" Apple ID is not providing the option for "None" as a payment option then you need to make a brand new one. But you have to make it specifically how I tell you.
#2 You will need to use an email address that has not already been used for anything related to a previous Apple ID. You might need to make a brand new email address.
#3 Open iTunes, then open iTunes Store (upper right corner of iTunes).
#4 Click on App Store (upper center of screen).
#5 Scroll down the screen page until you see Top Free Apps on the right side.
#6 Choose any one of the FREE apps.
#7 You should either get the option to create a new Apple ID box, either that, or it will pop up with some kind of disclaimer and then it does the create new Apple ID.
Either way just create a new Apple ID when it gives you the option to and then when you get to the page that looks like the payment page the "None" payment option will finally be available.
Note: You will still have to fill out the information on the payment page. As long as you choose the "None" option it will not request any credit card information.
#8 You will be sent a confirmation email to the new email account. Just follow through with what ever it tells you and viola now you can use your Apple Device.
What a pain in the keester, eh?

  • How would you solve the following Synch Async scenario?

    Hi,
I have the following use case and would like to know thoughts from the community on how to solve it -
There is a web based portal sending a create order request to ESB and the ESB does some message processing and passes it to a CRM to complete the order processing and generate a order id to be sent back to the portal user.
    Non Functional Requirements -
    1) Reliability
    2) Performance in terms of response time to the user.
    Issues -
    1) The web service exposed by CRM takes a long time to process the request and it is not acceptable that the Portal end user waits for that long to get the Order ID back..
    2) If we make a SOAP/HTTP call from Portal --> ESB and then another SOAP/HTTP call from ESB ---> CRM then the reliability is compromised.
    Solution -
The solution that we are proposing is as follows -
    1) Make a SOAP/HTTP call from Portal to ESB and then put the message in a JMS Queue which will persist it. This will provide reliability and QOS.
    2) Generate a random unique number (which will act as the order id for the user) inside the ESB and send it back to the user immediately after persisting the message in the queue. Also persist this interim order id in a database.
    3) Pick the message from the queue using MDB or Proxy service (specific to Oracle Service Bus because that is what we have as an ESB) and send the message to CRM.
    4) CRM takes its own time to process the request from MDB and sends the response (actual OrderID in CRM) which is then persisted corresponding to the row in step#2. Thus for future search by the user we can use this mapping to get the actual order details from CRM.
I do not see this as a scenario which is unique or unusual, where an Asynch request needs to made to look as synch to the user. But the solution we are proposing seems to be crude to me and with loopholes (like how to handle scenarios where CRM returns an error etc.) which would require lot of effort to be fixed.
    Questions -
    1) What is your opinion about the solution and suggestions about a better/cleaner way to implement it?
    2) Is there any standard approach to solve such kind of issue without creating so much of complexity (where we have to write code to keep the mapping and take care of all other issues)?
    3) Is there any pattern that can help solve this problem?
    4) Have you ever faced this issue and how did you solve it?
    Regards
    Ananya

    Hi Ananya,
If its not required to give Order ID to Portal user immediately, you can update Portal with Order ID in async manner.
    What I propose is,
    1. Let Portal call in Async manner, thread is released. (JMS can be used as well to improve reliability.)
    2. CRM takes the request and responds with order id or an error, calls webservice of AIA.
    3. AIA's WS then update Portal with Order ID or error in proper format.
    Thanks,
    Manish

Local Mac shop said to hold down "c" after inserting disk to get "disk utility" to come up in order to wipe hard drive.  I can't seem to get it to do this.

This W7 was purchased for using Fusion, as others did - per reviews from amazon.  The technician today called their contact at VMWare - Fusion not officially for use with Lion - even though I read at the VMWare support site that others have made it work.  Apparently my setup doesn't work.
Do you know how to do the proceedure for bringing up the disk utility when starting the disk?
BTW, some of the windows applications I want to continue using are Incredimail, Calendarscope, Stamps.com and a few others I have used over many years.  What do you use for email and calendar?
Wow, sounds like another reason to not use MS Windows.
Regarding your Disk Utility question, please elablorate I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Disk Utilty is just that...a utility, it's something most users never have to use especially on a new computer. Let me know what you're trying to do there before I give you some instructions.
As for as your Windows apps I would recommend using Mail and iCal, both come as part of OS X and are very robust tools. Don't discount the software built right into OS X it's very robust and powerful not all like the bloatware most Windows boxes ship with. Stamps.com well I'd look for another alternative. It's clear they don't support OS X which makes me a little suspicious that they're so behind the times.
Also if you have not been exposed to these links before I'd strongly recommend bookmarking them and using them. They're extermely useful!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How Do You Solve the Xcode 6.1.1, Playground's "unable to find suitable target device"?

Hi. I've reset Xcode 6.1.1 (I'm on Yosemite 10.10.2), have restarted the iMac (late 2009), have plugged in via USB the iPhone 5 (runs 8.1.3), resetted even the SMC and PRAM but I still get the Playground error: "unable to find suitable target device".
I checked the Xcode's Preferences - Downloads, on the Components pane or window it says iOS 7.1 Simulator which you could download but when I try to download it, it's just a blank progress bar, even if left for hours, it's not downloading at all. Yet when I press update and install in Preferences - Downloads, it checks it but says there's not update (if there's no update why is iOS 7.1 Simulator an option to be downloaded in the Components window?).
How do you solve this. Do I need to reset XCode at a more deeper level? Could this be a bug in 6.1.1 update?
Thank you in advance. God bless, Rev. 21:4

This response is a little late as I just read about your problem. I have a 2012 Dodge Charger and a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country and both worked flawlessly with the iPhone 5s my wife and I had. However, we just upgraded to the iPhone 6 and Uconnect will receive calls but you cannot answer them. You can callout successfully, however. the annoyance being the inability to answer incoming calls in the HandsFree mode.

  • How do I prevent downloading messages from timing out when a large file is attached to an incoming mail?

When an incoming message has a sizable attachment (say ~1 MB or more), I have to click manually on Get Messages many times before it finally downloads. Until I get lucky, the software seems to allow a period of about 30 seconds (I haven't clocked it) until it quits trying to download new messages. And until the message with the large attachment finally downloads, all other incoming messages are clogged behind it and can't get through. How do I adjust settings to prevent timing out or increase the time-out limit substantially to work around this difficulty? If there's no fix, I'll have to give up on Thunderbird and go directly to the provider website to get e-mail.

Is there any way you could get such attachments sent to you otherwise, such as file sharing? Thunderbird has a feature to address this, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/filelink-large-attachments Filelink], in case the sending party is using Thunderbird it may be useful to let them know about.
Are you using POP or IMAP? Either way many settings can fine tune this, in different ways, please add this information so we can provide a more detailed answer.

  • How do you put safari web pages into icloud with the safari iCloud button?

how do you put safari web pages into icloud with the safari iCloud button?

What that button does is sync your tabs between your devices. So if you have multiple macs with Mountain Lion and/or devices with iOS 6 (once it comes out this fall) you can pick up where you left off. For example, let's say I have apple.com, nytimes.com, and facebook.com open on my mac, but I need to run. Later, if I need to use another computer in my household, I can just restore the tabs that I was using before on this other mac.

  • How do you get multiple screens on the iPad with iOS 5.1.1?

How do you get multiple screens on the iPad with iOS 5.1.1? We just upgraded to iOS 5.1.1, and we see no way to be able to open multiple screens at once. Before, there was a small button in the upper portion of any window. That button would take you from a particular window to the place where multiple windows are open at once. Does it do it differently? Is there a special setting button that we have missed? Thanks!
One more thing: We are only talking about Safari.

    Guitaristica-
I don't think I've seen a way to have separate Safari screens visible at the same time.  The small thumbnails were deleted in one of the iOS updates, and replaced with a multiple "Tab" system.
You can open an additional screen in a new "tab" by pressing and holding on a link until a new menu comes up.
