How do you specify class file for appletviewer?

List,
I have searched over dozens of posts for "NoClassDefFoundError" and "wrong name" as well as "appletviewer" and others. I have read many posts about people who have the same problem I do, but I still can't seem to find a remedy:
My machine is running Windows ME
My application runs fine stand-alone
(it's main() method sets up and runs the init() method it is intended to be an applet)
My classpath includes "." as well as the JDK directory and the full path to my applications jar file
All classes are part of the package iCalendar and jar'd in a file called iCalendar.jar
When I compile and run my app stand-alone I use the following:
javac ./iCalendar/ViewController.java
java iCalendar.ViewController
However I cannot get the application to run in either appletviewer or the browser. My applet tag is as follows:
<APPLET CODEBASE="." CODE="ViewController.class" ARCHIVE="iCalendar.jar" width=700 height=700>
I consistently get the message NoClassDefFoundError wrong name: iCalendar/ViewController
So if anyone could tell me what set up is need to get this app running in appletviewer/browser I would be greatly appreciative, I've been on this all day!
Patrick

Drop one iCalendar out. The classpath should not
contain the path C:\JavaObjects\iCalendar.I did this, I also removed all duplicate copies of the .class files to make sure appletviewer only has the jar file to work with. My new CLASSPATH is:
.;C:\JavaObjects;C:\JavaObjects\iCalendar\iCalendar.jar
You should also decide whether to use the jar file or
not - that can cause problems with netscape -
weird problems.I definetely want to figure this out using the jar file, I want the entire jar downloaded to minimize trips to the server.
Try putting iCalendar.jar and iCalendar.html to
another directory and it should work - somehow
(probably because of the classpath or because
iCalendar.html is not where it should be) the
appletviewer is picking the class from outside the
jar.I created a directory off of the root C drive and called it temp, I copied the jar file and the html file to the temp directory and then tried appletviewer from the command line:
NoClassDefFoundError: ViewController (wrong name: iCalendar/ViewController)
Can this be because the jar file contains all of the class files whom all belong to the package iCalendar? Because to run it stand alone I must address iCalendar.ViewController, do I need to jar these files differently, and if so can I jar the directory structure?
Thanks again for the help, I have no clue at this point.

  • How to get the .class file for the extended Controller .java file

    Hi,
    I did the below steps.
    1. Created New OAWorkspace
    2. Created New project
    3. Imported the page .xml file
    4. Added new .java file by extending the controller class
    5. Added code in the .java file.
    6. Ran the .xml file
As I copied all the folders from Unix box, the page was opened.
But My question was where can I see the .class file the extended controller. It's a .java file. How to compile and get the .class file for this .java file. If I get this .class file, I can go to the page and click the personlize page. and change the Controller name to the new path by ftp ing the new class to the cust.oracle.apps.pos.changeorder.webiui.
Please let me know how to create the .class file.
    Thanks,
    HP

All are Java files are stored in JDEV_INSTALL_DIR:\jdevhome\jdev\myprojects\
In your case the path java would be
    JDEV_INSTALL_DIR:\jdevhome\jdev\ myprojects \cust\oracle\apps\pos\changeorder\webui\
    AND
Once you compile the java file in Jdeveloper, Class files get generated @ below path
In your case the path of class would be
    JDEV_INSTALL_DIR:\jdevhome\jdev\ myclasses \cust\oracle\apps\pos\changeorder\webui\

  • How do you crop QT file for projection on a video projector?

Trying to output QT files for playback on video projector in normal NTSC 4:3 aspect...the projector will be hooked up to a PC and play thru whatever inane video player the PC uses...therefore it will be displaying more of the image than a normal 4:3 frame....
problem is: in my FCP project I shifted some images in the 4:3 frame using the Motion tab...thererfore when they are played in QT player or on a computer, or thru a projector (as in this case) the extra bits of the image off to the side and top and bottom that would never be visible on a 4:3 frame are now visible...
if I crop the image, then I get a black box around the outside...do I resize the output file in terms of pixels or do I have to create a mask in QT to play without a black border?
    Please help.

I see - you're concerned about blanking and other 'blackspace.'
If that's the case, try this:
Drop your QT movie into Compressor 3
Apply the DV-NTSC setting (under Advanced Format Conversions)
In the Geometry Pane, adjust the Crop values for the 4 edges to taste (I'd highly recommend scrubbing thru to make sure you've not over/undercropping).
I'd personally recommend dragging the red borders in the Preview window, just be aware of a small screen bug where it squishes the image (if only in the Preview window). To counteract that, hit the Back arrow button in the Preview window (top left), then hit the Forward button. Toggling between the source file (by hitting back) and destination file (by hit forward) allows the image to 'pop back' correctly.
If you were only worried about blanking - the black edges that cameras produce, then you'd only need to crop maybe 8 pixels from the left and right. But since you've got more stuff to worry about it, it's hard to suggest what to do, exactly. But remember to crop according to aspect ratio. That is, if you're taking 8 pixels off the left and right each, you've got to take 6 off the top and bottom each (aka keep the trims 4:3) otherwise you'll distort your image, however slightly.
Confirm that Frame Controls are activated and that Resize is set to Better. (This will dramatically increase encoding time, but otherwise, your output will be very poor). However, unless you're working on a very robust machine (or have a lot of time to kill), I would not adjust any setting to Best - it simply takes too long.
    Submit. And wait for it.
You output will now be a 720x480 file with no blanking or other 'blackspace.' If you've got Frame Controls set right, you shouldn't see much, if any, reduction in image quality.

store the output of a system() command within a c++ program to a string and/or variable
A number of apps call Unix utilities and capture both stdout and stderr, typically for viewing in a log window, but for other uses as well. Xcode, for example, starts up gcc and does various things with the text that gcc might otherwise print in a Terminal window. Most apps that rely on Unix commands that way don't use "system()", which is a rather crude way of launching utilities that leaves the parent program with very little control. Usually, the best way to manage helper utils from a Cocoa app is by using NSTask and NSPipe. If you spend some time with the two following pages, you'll learn how to do almost anything you want with command line utils from inside a Cocoa app:
The first link goes to a great tutorial on using NSTask. Capturing stdout and stderr are only covered briefly towards the end, however. Note the last comment explaining why "system()" is a bad idea.
The second link goes to a forum thread. Scroll down to the code posted by "blb" for some very clear examples of launching with NSTask and reading the output with NSPipe.
If you really want to use a shell command, you could give NSTask a command like ' +bash -c "ls -lt | grep drwx"+ ' (see how setArguments: is used in the tutorial).
If you just want to do something cheap and dirty with "system()" so you can see some awk output while you're learning how to do things the right way, I guess you could do something like this:
    system(" cat ~/random.txt | awk '{print $2}' > MyFile.txt");
    NSString *myString = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:@"MyFile.txt"
    encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:nil];
Of course you can just read MyFile.txt into cin if you're not using Cocoa.

  • How to convert a class file to exe file and how to cteate a class file to d

how to convert a class file to exe file

    Hi Bhaskarq,
    Hi,
It is not at all possible.
But it is a really worst method.
    Please go through it.
This is a very common question asked in the comp.lang.java newsgroup. Its often useful to have an
    executable application when deploying your
applications to a specific platform, but remember to
make your .class files available for users running
    Unix/Macintosh/other platforms.
Microsoft provide a free system development kit (SDK),
for Java, which includes the jexegen tool. This
will convert class files into a .EXE form. The only
disadvantage is that users need a Microsoft Java
Virtual Machine (JVM) installed. If your target
platform is Win32, you can either redistribute the
    virtual
machine, or raise the level of your system
requirements, to include Windows 98, or Windows 95
    with
Internet Explorer 4. Systems matching these
requirements will already have a copy of the Microsoft
    Java Virtual Machine installed.
Note : You must specify all of the class files your
application needs (except for standard java packges)
as a parameter, so if you have third party libraries,
you'll need to include them as well. You can use wildcards * though, and you don't need the original source code.
Also please see this Forum which will give a good idea
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=149733
I hope this will help you.

  • HOw to create a Batch file for java application and whats the use of this ?

    HI,
How to create a Batch file for java application ?
And whats the use of creating batch file ?
    Thanks in advance

    First of all, you're OT.
Second, you can find this everywhere in the net.
If you got a manifest declaring main class (an classpath if needed), just create a file named whatever.bat, within same directory of jar file, containing:
javaw -jar ./WhateverTheNameOfYourJarIs.jar %*By the way, assuming a Windows OS, you can just double click the jar file (no batch is needed).
    Otherwise use:
javaw -cp listOfJarsAndDirectoriesSeparedBySemiColon country/company/application/package/className %*Where 'country/company/application/package/' just stands for a package path using '/' as separator instead of '.'
    Don't specify the .class extension.
Javaw only works on Windows (you asked for batch, I assumed .BAT, no .sh), in Linux please use java.exe (path may be needed, Windows doesn't need it 'cause java's executables are copied to system32 folder in order to be always available, see PATH environment variable if you don't know what I'm talking about) and use ':' as classpath (cp) separator.
The '%***' tail is there in order to pass all parameters, it only works on Windows, refer to your shell docs for other OSs (something like $* may work).
This way you have a command you can call to launch your code (instead of opening NetBeans just to see your app working). You could schedule tasks on it or just call it in any command prompt (hope you know what it is 'cause there have been people in this very same forum with no clue about it, if not just hold the 'Windows button' and press 'R', then type 'cmd' and run it).
Finally add dukes and give 'hem away.
    Bye.

  • How to make the class files to run in a particular platform only

Class files which are created from the java files should only run on a particular platform only..say i'm going to create the class files for windows environment then those class files should only run on that environment only. it should not run on unix environment etc..how to do this..

    hi,
i cant think of a reason why you would do something like that.. You cant prevent your class files to be read by the JVM of a different OS, but anyway you could do something to stop your code from running in a different OS, for eg.
    Properties prop = System.getProperties();
    if (prop.getProperty("os.name").startsWith("Windows")==true)
          //code
    else
           System.out.println("Sorry i will not run in this OS");

How do you delete a file from an iPad?
There are 2 versions of a document file on my iPad.
I want to get rid of the obsolete one.
The iPad Users Guide does not describe how to delete a document file.
    This is very frustrating!

The iPad Guide is for the iPad itself, not other apps you may install.
If you use Pages then read the online help here: http://help.apple.com/pages/ipad/2.2/ - specifically this: http://help.apple.com/pages/ipad/2.2/#/tancfc4d5c02
Delete a document from your iOS device

Tap , then tap Delete Documents. To cancel, tap anywhere in the document manager background, or tap Done.

  • How to create different log files for each of web applications deployed in OC4J

    Hi All,
I am using OC4J(from Oracle) v1.0.2.2 and Windows2000. Now I want to know
    1. how to create different log files for each of my deployed web applications ?
    2. what are the advantages in running multiple instances of oc4j and in what case we should run
    multiple instances of OC4J ?
    3. how to run OC4J as Windows2000 Service rather than Windows2000 Application ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kumar.

    Hi Avi,
First of all I have given a first reading to log4j and I think there will some more easy way of logging debugging messages than log4j (If you could provide me a detailed explanation of a servlet, jsp, java bean that uses log4j and how to use log4j then it will be very helpful for me). The other easy ways (if I am not using log4j) to my problem i.e creating different log files for each of web applications deployed in oc4j are
I have created multiple instances of OC4J that are configured to run on different ports and so on each instance I have deployed a single web application . And I started the 2 oc4j instances by transferring thier error/log messages to a file. And the other way is ..
I have download from jakarta site a package called servhelper . This servhelper is a thread that is started in a startup servlet and stopped in the destroy method of that startup servlet. So this thread will automatically capture all the system.out.println's and will print those to a file. I believe that this thread program is synchronized. So in this method I need not run multiple instances of OC4J instead each deployed web application on single instance of oc4j uses the same thread program (ofcourse a copy of thread program is put in each of the deployed web applications directories) to log messages on to different log files.
Can you comment on my above 2 approached to logging debugging messages and a compartive explanation to LOG4J and how to use LOG4J using a simple servlet, simple jsp is appreciated ...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ravi.
