How do you update an .SWF file with Javascript

Hello - I have this Flash map that I've created. It uses
javascript calls from within Flash to swap out hidden DIVS when a
user clicks on a county. When the user clicks on the zip code
region of that map, a javascript triggers the check box.
What I need to do now is to have a way that when a user
unclicks the check box, the zip code region in the map will be
unhighlighted. Essentially, I need to have javascript tell a movie
clip within the .SWF file to goto a certain frame and stop.
I've never done this before, so I'm seeking someone's wisdom
on how to proceed with this.

How to place a Flash swf file with a movie FLV file embedded in DW

     My hair is getting shorter by the hour or maybe missing. I have created a SWF file with Flash 8 that has an embedded FLV file that was created from a MP4 file.   The SWF file works perfectly in FLASH including my Flash nav buttons, and the movie with soundtrack and the buttons for control of volume and start stop. Now I am ready to place it on the web using DW to make the html page. What happens when I test the page on FireFox or IE is the background loads, the buttons load but do not work properly anymore but worse than that: The slide show and the control buttons do not even show up.
     I am also having trouble defining my site locally. I select new site and tell it where every thing is but no luck. All in the same directory, right now I have a image directory but I have not used them on the page as the only image is a jpg and flv file and they are embedded in the swf file.
     I know this is 2 different programs but the Flash files need to be placed in a HTML file to be uploaded, and I have to text them first.

Just do the update on your syncing computer. All the items should be in your iTunes library or, for synced photos, on the computer. The items will be synced back to the iPod during a latter stage of the update.

Does anyone know how to load a skin . swf file with video to dreamweaver

I have input the video into flash cs3 and then used the
properties section for adding the video in the source section. I
then put the skin with the first drop down. I saved and just put it
in dreamweaver however does not work.. I was told the skin may not
have be sent automatically. How do we do this. Get the skin . swf
file to go with the video or get them both into dreamweaver. I does
not show up on my site.

Help!! How do you build the SWF files?

Hi, I since I am new to Flex & Flex Builder2, I have
tried to recreate an empty swf file, similar to the sample file
"EmptySwf.swf"
However, when I replace the default EmptySwf.swf with mine, I
keep getting: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot
convert flash.display::Sprite@fda2a81 to mx.core.IUIComponent.
Steps to reproduce:
i) I am using Flex Builder 2.0.143459
ii) in the mxml file created when choosing 'Flex Project', I
add the FAbridge information as instructed
<fab:FABridge xmlns:fab="bridge.*" />
(I have also tried using <bridge:FABridge
xmlns:bridge="bridge.*" id="bridgeInst" /> )
iii) Select BuildAll and then copy to the samples folder
(overwriting the original).
iv) The error occurs in the browser.
What gives?
The FA Bridge is supposed to be an easy 'learning curve' to
get into Flex.
This is quickly pushing me away!!!!!

For those others that are new to Flex, I found that creating
an
ActionScript Project in Flex builder to be the way to create
a 'blank' swf file that works.
Note:
- you'll also need to add a library reference:
${FRAMEWORKS}\libs\framework.swc
- you'll still need to add the FABridge reference:
x:\somepath\\FABridge\src
Then, make your main actionscript file look like EmptySwf.as
as shipped with the samples.

How do you protect the .swf files ?

Is there any flex techiques for more security? What about HP SWFScan?

There are several different options... each with varying degrees of security, technical complexity, and cost. Entry level protection usually involves some kind of obfuscation which makes your code difficult to read / re-use - but not impossible. If this isn't enough you'll want to look into swf encryption... which raises the bar significantly. The last item worth mentioning is loading a swf from a protected source. You could also improve this last approach by loading your swf from _inside_ another swf. Here are some links to get your started.

Apparently those converters do exist.
Google or similar are your friends.

How can you make Automator see files with no extensions

I'm trying to create a workflow where Automator would have the Finder find Photoshop or TIFF files even if they don't have file extensions. If I choose Kind>Image, it gives me everything under the sun including every image from web sites I've visited during the period specified. If I use a file extension criteria, it misses any files of that type that don't have file extensions. I thought since file extensions aren't required in OS X that Automator would be able to tell even if the file extension is hidden.
Any suggestions other than go back and add extensions to all the files?

I've been using Macs since 1984, and never got into the habit of using file extensions (suffixes) to the names when I switched to OS X. Now I find, though, that in Automator, it doesn't find files when the extensions are hidden. The Finder still recognizes file types even though the method it does so has changed. What I wanted to know is if there is any Automator action that would be able to find files of a certain type even if the extensions were hidden.
I'm not looking for a way to create file extensions from scratch or get into resource code. I'm just trying to find a way to work with the files I already have, that already have associations with programs and have associated file type extensions even though the suffixes are hidden.
So basically is there a way to do it or not without renaming all my files to make extensions visible? If there is, I'll use it. If not, I'll have to find a method of batch changing all the files.

How do you play a swf file from the desktop

I have created a swf file using flash. It can be downloaded
onto the desktop. It is zipped. When unzipped it is called
yadayada.swf. It does not get associated to the flash player or the
shockwave flash player which are both installed. So if i double
click on it it won't play.
What do I have to do to make it play from the desktop in its
plain swf file format. I want people to be able to download it onto
their desktop for both Mac and PC users. I published it as a
projector .exe file but mac users cant run it.
What should be my next step?
I have installed Flash on my development box so this isnt an
issue but it is for my test computer that doesnt have flash
installed.

mm 2 things you can do.
1. Create a html page that loads this SWF file, This will
work on both OS's.
2. Create a Projector file for PC and HQX for the Mac. You
cannot have one
file todo both.

Hey, I'm trying to create code to create a jar file with a text file, but I can't figure out how to add the text file. Here is what I have so far:

Pretty sure I just downloaded the .exe files to the SD card (I have a directory called "drivers" there & ran from Windows, no need to boot from anything else. Didn't even need to use Safe Boot. The files do need an .exe extension IE someimes downloads as _exe. No idea why but would just need to rename if download has the underscore and not the period. The you can run them.
Was so easy I really did not think about it. One of the Intel Platform drives does say "requires 1.60 update" so that is the one you need. Do the 1.60, reboot, and then the Intel update.
Key point is the release note on the Intel Platform Installer
"Release Notes
1.Please install the Windows BIOS version 1.60 or higher for Encore WT8-A (PDW09x) before installing this Intel Platform Installer update." note this says "BIOS" and not "USB BIOS" which is a smaller file.

How do you update Mackie Logic control with logic pro 7?

I moved my setup to a new location and now when I boot up my logic control its just a blue screen. Ive found its firmware has been blanked. I did some research and it seems emagic used to send users an old .mid file to fix it, but that was long ago. Now all i have is a 1.02 from Mackie, but every time i go to play the song it says error code 1. Does anyone know how to fix this? I think I turned off MTC and the midi clock, but still no go. Does anyone know how I can correct this within Logic pro 7? Any help would be appreciated! Ive never had to do anything with logic control before this, but turn it on!

I figured it out! I had to reset midi drivers in Logic, then a unitor tab came up that was NOT previously there (?) under midi settings and from there i was able to turn off VTC/LTC which was causing the error code.

I have a jsp in which i need to show some links with the background colour.The links depends on certain conditions which is known.But the requirement is that the background color should be grey and white alternatively. I could have hardcoded the background color with the link. But the problem is that all the links are not visible to all users. The background color is defined in the .css file. I need to check the background color for the previous link. I am declaring a boolean within a jsp and then verifying the value of that boolean( in the javascript within the same jsp) so that i could know the bckground color for previous link.but i am not able to use the element in the .css element in that javascript which is having if-else loop.It's showing an error when i tried doing this. So can some one help me out how can this be done.
