How does a PowerBuilder 12.6 program invoke a Crystal Report 2013 file (rpt)?

Background:
We have been trying to find a solution how to invoke Crystal Reports file (.rpt) from Powerbuilder 12.6.
From the various forum discussions, it seems that the Crystal Viewer OLE control has been deprecated in Crystal Reports 2013.
What methods are available to invoke Crystal Reports 2013 rpt files from Powerbuilder 12.6, if any?
What methods are available to invoke Crystal Reports 2013 rpt files from other platforms, e.g, C++, .NET, Java, etc.?
Please post a solution or suggestion to accomplish this.

You don't even need to create a group. Just sort the records on the fields that define "duplicate". Then you can just use
if {field} = PreviousValue({field}) then crYellow else crNoColor
in the format's Background Color formula. This will cause the background to be yellow on duplicates. (If you need to check more than one field in order to determine duplicates, just insert
and {field2} = PreviousValue({field2}
and so on for each field that needs to be checked.

Hi Vivek,
To you may create on demand sub report.
In main report only the link will be shown when you click on the link the sub report will be opened in a new tab.
It can be placed in a Group header and to show the data for that particular group only.
Click on the Help menu in the crystal Reports Designer and open the Crystal Reports Help
Go to Index tab and type in subreport
Select Creating On demand you will get lot of information on that.
Please let us know if that is enough to solve your problem

Invoking a Crystal Report stored on a BOXI3.1 server from a remote web page

We would like to run Crystal Reports stored on our BOXI 3.1 server directly from an in-house intranet website written in ASP.Net. Is there a recommended way of achieving this?
Some possible options we are considering are:
1) A pop-up window opens with InfoView loaded and showing the correct report already open. The user would then populate the parameters and submit the report as if they had logged into InfoView and navigated to the report themselves.
2) We write our own BOXI Crystal Report submission page in ASP.Net. This page would call the BusinessObjects Enterprise .NET SDK to retrieve the report parameter information and submit the report. This page would need to support Static, Dynamic, and Cascading report parameters.
3) Use some sort of 3rd party or SAP imbedded Web Component that we can place on our intranet site that interfaces with the BOXI server and supports parameter setting and report submission. This Component would allow users to specify Static, Dynamic, or Cascading report parameters.
Ideally we would prefer option 3 as this would be simplest to implement, however Iu2019m not sure such a component exists.
Do SAP have a recommended solution for invoking a Crystal Report stored on a BOXI 3.1 server from a remote web page?

Hi Paul,
there are several options:
- you could open InfoView via URL and the user navigates to the report
- you could create you own application
but the easiest way is an application called OpenDocument that is available out of the box which allows you to pass in several URL parameter and in that way you could open up the report.
when you go to help.sap.com and go to the BusinessObjects area search for OpenDocument and you will find the documentation with the details.

How does the Filter Operator "Contains" work on the Interactive Reports?

I'm creating Tool Tip definitions for the Operators in the Filter on the Interactive Reports. I was looking for a definition for the 'Contains' operator and from what I've found this operator is used to do a text search and it returns a relevance score for every row selected.
I've also read that in order for that score to be determined that the column(s) need to be indexed with a CONTEXT index. Non of the columns in the tables are indexed with a CONTEXT index, however, when I put a value in the Expression box for a column I get a record returned.
If I run the same query in PL/SQL Developer like:
SELECT <column>
FROM <table>
WHERE contains(<column>,<search text>,1) > 0;I get an error that the column is not indexed, so how does it work in APEX?

How do send to call on Infoview programated parameters did Crystal Reports

I created some reports in Crystal Reports 2008 that have parameters, these reports function fine, but when I try to view them on Infoview, my reports still appear all the information without requiring all the program parameters.I have done the following steps to try solve that, but the problem contnues:
1. connect to the Central Management Console (CMC)
2. open the properties of my report
3. expand Default Settings and click on Parameters link
4. I checked "Prompt when viewing"
I´m using Business Objects 13 and Crystal Reports 2008
Do you have another solution?

please open the report in the CR designer und go to File. Unselect there the Save data with report option and save the report again in the BOBJ repository.

Hi Murtaza,
Unfortunately, I am not aware of any method to suppress the prompt for the input parameters, but still use them. It is truly a design-related issue for the report. The reason that the prompt appears is because the parameter it is prompting for is used in the report; in particular either the Group or Record Selection, or referenced in another formula.
The only way I can think of to not show the prompt, is to not use the parameter in the report. You did mention that you are setting the value of the parameter inside of the report -- are you doing this through using a formula? Perhaps you can just remove the parameter and only use the formula that you are setting the default values with.

I am trying to reference an object on my report which contains a Formula field.
I have read the following 2 threads, but they refer to textObjects:

But I cannot even get those to work. I can reference a object which refers to a database field but as soon as I try
reference a textObject or reportObject I just get a NULL variable.
Below is the code I am useing
IReportObject dbField = reportClientDocument.getReportDefController().findObjectByName("BOB1");
IReportObject textBob = reportClientDocument.getReportDefController().findObjectByName("BOB2");
"BOB1" is the name of my DB field Object, and "BOB2" can be a Text box or a Formula item and I just get nothing.
I have just tested it with a FieldHeadingObject and that returns a valid object, so clearly I am going about this the wrong way
for objects I place on the reports which are not driven by the database items.
Ultimately what I want to do is reference an object in the Report Footer which will contain the RecordCount of the number of
records contained in the report, which I am them going to use to determine if the report holds data,
if it does I will print it, else ignore it and move on the the next report. I am doing this so that I can at an extra filter to split
a report up into groups and produce a sinlge PDF for each group instead of one massive PDF containing all the groups.
So if someone has a solution to any of my problems I would be very greatful, and I dont mind being told Im an idiot and should
rather do it another way, as long as you supply that other way

Right I have made some headway.
Firstly, Im an idiot. I was making changes and setting up test fields on my report, but then when running the app, I had it looking at
the backup report, which would explain why all the new textbox fields were not being found.
The stupiditity did force me to delve deep and work out a fair bit of how the reports work, so cant complain too much. BUT, I am still
not able to return values of Formula fields and formulas extra. Could someone tell me if this is even possible. I get retrieve the formula field
name, and properties but not its value once the report has been populated. Am I wasting my time?
Well I will continue dismantling my reports till I find the answer, or someone points me in the right direction.
If any one is interested this is the code I used to drill down to my text boxes:

How to avoid the parameters accepting screen generated by crystal report

I designed one rpt file which will take one parameter and trying to run that file from java servlets. But I am getting one problem. I am passing parameters from jsp and setting those to the crystal report but, instade of generating the report, it is generating one jsp page which is having text feild , after enter the parameter value onece I submit this page then only I am getting required output.

How do i access multiple bex queries in one crystal reports??

I have 10 cubes and 30 bex queries on it and i need to create 3 final crystal reports on these 30 queries.
I am on BI 4.0 & CR 2011. but my client is not on correct SAP patch ie., he is on 15+ but he must be on 23+ to access multiple bex queries on CR 2011 Database expert. (I am unable to see bex queries in Database expert to link couple of bex queries)
And my client env doesnt have SAP EP for SAP BW Netweaver Connection to create a connection to access cubes or queries in IDT.
Do my client env need EP? so that SAP BICS Connection will work in IDT?
How do i approach to achive this...

Hi,
have you checked the option "allow external access" in your query? SAP Toolbar will find all queries but the database export needs this flag to be set.
Using multiple queries within one crystal report is using the "multi database join feature" of crystal reports. You can link your queries by key fields and crystal will join them in memory. So when there are many queries or many datarows this can be a huge performance killer.
Actuallly one of our customers is running a report which has more than 20 BEx queries linked together. It runs just fine.
Please be sure to set your joins correctly. E.g. crystal will try to make a join on the "key figures" sturcture if you let it create a suggestion or it will try to link on all fields of an infoobject. This will bring MDX errors.
So you should be setting your joins correctly - the [infoobject]-[20infoobject] fields are fine for that.

How to pass values to Oracle store procedure in Crystal Report

I am newbie on passing values to stored procedure parameters. I created a Crystal Report using the Crystal Report wiward with PULL method and data come from Oracle stored procedure. In an ASP.NET page, I have stored two values in Session and need to pass them as input parameters to Oracle stored procedure to print the report. In Crystal reports 2010 once you connect to a stored-procedure as data source, it automatically creates the parameter fields with Crytal Report Viewer. Please show me how I pass values to store procedure at runtime automatically.

I put a break point to debug but display the error at the following lines:

Eventhough, if I set a specific value to Course=1000 and Class = math and still receive the error:
Invalid index. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002000B (DISP_E_BADINDEX))
