How does JSTL set sql:param types?

Specifically I'm using PostgreSQL 8 with JDBC driver 8 and I'm simply trying to pass an sql param with value 1 as an int like this:
<sql:param value="1"/> should be passed as intbut:
<sql:param value="1"/> passed as varchar
<sql:param value="${1}"/> passed as bigint
<sql:param value="${1 - 1 + 1}"/> passed as bigint
<sql:param value="${1 / 1}"/> passed as double precisionI don't know why an int value is passed as bigint, and where the disconnect is between JSTL and the JDBC driver. Is there a way to coerce this param as an int using JSTL and EL?

>
Does passing the value as a String/BigInt cause
problems with your sql queries?Yes, PostgreSQL JDBC driver v8 has very strict typing, so passing varchar or long parameter to FUNCTION foo(int4) results in function not found errors.
Anyway I managed to workaround this by creating an Integer attribute and passing it to the sql param tag
<%
  request.setAttribute("one", new Integer(1));
%>
<sql:param value="${one}"/>

  • How Do I Set XML Content-type in Flex 3

    Hi,
    My Flex 3 project makes an ExternalInterface call to some Javascript. The Javascript is then turned into XML.
    But, my xml isn't parsing in IE. It works in all other browsers. I think that the problem is that I haven't set the XML's content-type. As I understand it IE requires that the Content-type be set. Is this correct?
    My code looks like:
    myReturn =  '<myXMLReturn>' + myReturn + '</myXMLReturn>';
    myReturn = '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>' + myReturn;
    xmlReturn = new XML(myReturn);
    How would I set: header('Content-type: application/xml'); for an ExternalInterface call?
    Thank you.
    -Laxmidi

    Okay. I figured it out. I don't need to set the Content-type.
    I had a case sensitivity problem in parsing the xml. Thank you.

  • How do I set the content type ?

    Hi
    I have to upload a file from my Java Application to a remote servlet.
    I have used the HTTPConnection class to connect to the remote servlet and made it call the POST method explicitly.
    How do I set the content type of the file I am uploading from my Java apllication?
    I tried to change the content type in the doPost method. by giving
    req.setContentType("multipart/form-data"); in the doPost.
    It still doesnt work..
    Is there any way to set the content type in the Java application?
    Thanks in advance

    What class is your req variable? If your using a HttpServletRequest, then there is no method req.setContentType("");
    In the HttpServletResponse this is for telling the web browser or receving medium what kind of mime type to expect.
    And what package is the HttpConnection class from?
    I think more precise info is required before this question can be answered.

  • How to access PL/SQL data types through JDBC

    Hi,
    We have stored procedures written in PL/SQL. These stored procs take both IN and OUT parameters. The parameter types are both regular datatypes like NUMBER, VARCHAR etc. So far so good. I know how to handle these data types.
    Some of the stored procs also use parameters that are defined as composite data types like %ROWTYPE or %RECORD. How would I set the values of these data types? Can I use the oracle extension - support for Oracle Objects to accomplish this. If so please let me know with an example. If not any other suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    JDBC (and SQLJ) only support SQL types as stored procedure arguments, not PL/SQL types.
    If your stored procedure uses a PL/SQL-only type, such as BOOLEAN, record types, or index-by tables, then you cannot call it from Java (or, for that matter, from other languages as well).
    There is one exception: scalar index-by table arguments have been supported since JDBC 8.1.7 in the JDBC-OCI driver (refer to the JDBC manual for specifics).
    One workaround is to create wrapper PL/SQL stored procedures that take SQL arguments and convert them to PL/SQL -and vice versa- and call the original PL/SQL stored procedures. For example, a record type could be exploded into individual arguments, or it could be converted into a SQL object type, index-by tables could be represented as SQL collection types, etc.
    You can find a small example of this in the back of the JPublisher manual, where an example is given how to call a PL/SQL stored procedure that takes BOOLEAN arguments.

  • How does one set databse parameters in Tomcat to run a servlet?

    Hi, I am trying to run a applet-servlet code, downloaded from the web. According to the installation instructions, the following is stated:
    Database Parameters. You can provide different database parameters to the servlet. These parameters are set during the administration of the servlet.
    dbDriver - name of the database driver class name (default = sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver)
    dbURL - complete database URL (default = jdbc:odbc:StudentDatabase)
    userid - user id (default = <none>)
    passwd - password (default = <none>)
    I am running TOMCAT on a Windows2000 machine. My question is how to does one set the parameters in TOMCAT. What is the default userid and password for TOMCAT.
    Any help/advise is appreciated in advance. Thanks.Regards.

    May be parameters must be set in web.xml in your war

  • How does one set the DPI when resizing images in Bridge?

    I am sure I am missing something here (so excuse me if its a simple answer) but I am used to using Photo Mechanic and there you are able to set lots of variables while resizing.  I don't understand this Bridge resizing window when using Batch Processing thru Photoshop.
    -There are two boxes for sizing.  If you put the same dimension in both does it just set the longest dimension to that size?
    -What if I want say a 10x10 inch image at 72 DPI for web use as opposed to a 10 x10 inch image at 300 DPI for printing purposes, where does one enter that info?
    Thanks,
    Joshua

    You don't "resize" anything in Bridge, nor does it set PPI, pixels per inch—and most certainly NOT "DPI" (Dots [of ink] Per Inch) which is exclusively a feature of the printer.
    Bridge is just a File Browser.  It used to be called simply the Photoshop File Browser".  It doesn't open, edit, manipulate resize or even save anything.
    It merely hands the file(s) over to the appropriate application, whether that be Photoshop, adobe Camera Raw, Illustrator, InDesign or even MS Word.

    Again, you mean PPI in both instances there.
    You enter that in whatever application you're sending the image from Bridge.
    For instance in Photoshop:

  • Help w/MaxDB Function; also: how does the "Debug SQL" function work?

    Hi there forum folks,
    In my former life, I was a Basis guy, but I haven't had the pleasure of working directly with SAP applications in a few months.  My current project is to attempt to use MaxDB in a real estate environment.  We're tracking home listings so that we can build statistical reports... such as "what agents are in the Top 100 in postal code X?"
    Anyway, as part of this project, I have attempted to construct my very first MaxDB database function.  Unfortunately, it doesn't give me the answers I'm hoping to see.  Here's the function:
    CREATE FUNCTION COUNT_LISTINGS (AGENTID CHAR(10)) RETURNS FIXED(6,1) AS
      VAR COLISTINGAGENTID CHAR(10);
          LISTINGAGENTID   CHAR(10);
          MLSNUMBER        CHAR(7);
          UNITS            FIXED(6,1);
      SET UNITS = 0;
      DECLARE FUNCTIONRESULT CURSOR FOR
        SELECT MLSNUMBER,
               LISTINGAGENTID,
               COLISTINGAGENTID FROM FREDDIE.GLAR_SOLDS
         WHERE LISTINGAGENTID = :agentid OR COLISTINGAGENTID = :agentid;
      IF $COUNT IS NULL THEN
        BEGIN
          CLOSE FUNCTIONRESULT;
          RETURN UNITS;
        END
      ELSE
        SET $RC = 0;
      WHILE $RC = 0 DO BEGIN
        FETCH FUNCTIONRESULT INTO :mlsnumber, :listingagentid, :colistingagentid;
        IF ( LISTINGAGENTID   = AGENTID AND COLISTINGAGENTID IS NULL ) OR
           ( COLISTINGAGENTID = AGENTID AND LISTINGAGENTID   IS NULL ) THEN
          SET UNITS = UNITS + 1
        ELSE
          SET UNITS = UNITS + 0.5;
      END;
    CLOSE FUNCTIONRESULT;
    RETURN UNITS;
    I've tried to follow the official MaxDB documentation.  My first deviation from that standard was the use of the "$COUNT" variable (instead of the "$RC" variable) immediately after the DECLARE/SELECT statement above.  When I tried to use $RC, for either a successful or unsuccessful query, $RC was always set to a non-zero value.
    I believe I'm past that, but now my issue is down around that FETCH statement.  The UNITS variable doesn't end up with the value I expect.  I know that it can be terribly confusing to try to analyze someone else's logic, but here's a brief narrative that describes what I'm trying to do...
    The GLAR_SOLDS table holds one line for each home sold.  It's keyed by the MLSnumber.  Each record also stores up to four agents who've been involved in the transaction: the listing agent, the co-listing agent, the selling agent, and the co-selling agent.  The database function I've written above pertains to the listing side only.  If I can get this to work, a separate function will process the selling side.  If no co-listing agent is involved in a given sell, that agent should get credit for 1 unit sold.  If he/she has help from a co-listing agent, the agent should only get credit for 1/2 unit sold.
    Also, does anyone know how the "Debug SQL" functionality is supposed to work within Database Studio?  When I right-mouse click on my function, and follow the path thru "Debug As...", after entering the connection & function arguments, I'm presented with an empty screen.  If you could point me to some documentation somewhere, I'd gratefully read it.
    I'm using MaxDB 7.7.06.09 on Windows XP (WIN32) with MaxDB Database Studio 7.7.06.09 (build 009-123-202-944).
    Thanks everyone for your help & advice.
    ~Fred

    Fred,
    please either provide the full SQL statements for your example or stick with mine.
    I'm not going to build it up myself a second time to suit yours now.
    >  But now, my issue is how do I store the resultant data in its own table?
    So where is the problem?
    INSERT INTO <target table> (field 1, field 2, ...)  (<your query>)  UDPATE DUPLICATES-
    With my tables this looks like this:
    create table sell_result (list_agent varchar(20) primary key, SUM_CREDIT fixed (10,2))
    insert
    into sell_result (list_agent,sum_credit)
        ( select list_agent, sum (credit) as SUM_CREDIT
          from ( select sh.object_id,lag.name as list_agent, 1 as credit
                 from soldhomes sh join agents lag on lag.id = sh.list_agent_id
                union all
                 select sh.object_id, lag.name as list_coagent, 0.5 as credit
                 from soldhomes sh join agents lag on lag.id = sh.list_coagent_id
          group by list_agent
    update duplicates
    Check what we have now
    sqlcli db770=> select * from sell_result
    | LIST_AGENT           | SUM_CREDIT        |
    | -------------------- | ----------------- |
    | Lars                 |              4.50 |
    | Lisa                 |              3.00 |
    | Mona                 |              2.50 |
    | Paul                 |              2.50 |
    4 rows selected (600 usec)
    Now add some sales data...
    Insert into soldhomes values (11, 1, 2, NULL, NULL)
    Insert into soldhomes values (12, 2, NULL, NULL, NULL)
    Insert into soldhomes values (13, 2, NULL, NULL, NULL)
    Re-run the INSERT command and you're done:
    sqlcli db770=> select * from sell_result
    | LIST_AGENT           | SUM_CREDIT        |
    | -------------------- | ----------------- |
    | Lars                 |              5.50 |
    | Lisa                 |              3.00 |
    | Mona                 |              5.00 |
    | Paul                 |              2.50 |
    4 rows selected (390 usec)
    Neat, isn't it?

  • Save Dialog in Office Application does not set the Content Type to the one selected on Document Creation.

    We have a Library that supports 4 Content Types  ("Content Type 1","Content Type 2","Content Type 3","Content Type 4")
    The user clicks new and selects "Content Type 3"
    Word is started
    The user edits the document
    Clicks Save
    "Choose Content Type" dialog is shown set to the Content Type "Content Type 1" because the Document content type is ordered as First (which also means Default)
    What is expected is the "Choose Content Type" dialog to show "Content Type 3" as selected
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    According to your description, there is a library with four content types, you create a document with one of the content types, click save button in Office application,
    then a “Choose Content Type” dialog will show up for selecting a content type.
    I tried to reproduce as below:
    1. Create a library with four content types;
    2. In the ribbon of this library, “FILES”->”New Document”->”Content Type 1”, then the Office application with the predefined template will be opened for editing;
    3. Click the “Save” button, choose the save path as the current library, click “OK” to finish the process;
    4. Refresh the library in browser, the newly created document appears there.
    In my test, there is no “Choose Content Type” dialog showing up when save the document in Office application.
    I would suggest you provide more details about how to reproduce this issue(screenshot would be better) for further research.

  • How do I set the mime type for an attachment to "application/zip"

    I'm sending out an email with a zip file as an attachment. The following code works fine, but the Mimetype for the attachment is set to "application/octet-stream"
    FileDataSource fds = new FileDataSource(zipname);
    DataHandler dh = new DataHandler(fds);
    MimeBodyPart mbp2 = new MimeBodyPart();
    mbp2.setDataHandler(dh);
    mbp2.setFileName(fds.getName());
    I would like the mime type to be application/x-zip. Unfortunately I seem to need a data content handler for this mime type as I get this exception.
    javax.activation.UnsupportedDataTypeException: no object DCH for MIME type application/x-zip
    Building a date content handler in the activation framework seems like a lot of work to do a very simple thing. Am I missing something obvious? Is there a simple way to do this?

    I found the solution after much chasing around. The default mimetypes file that comes with the activation framework does not list zip.

  • Ajax: How can I set Item of type "Display as text" ?

    Hello Everyone,
    I would like to set an item to a calculated value using ajax. I'm perfectly able to do so for items of the type text field using any of the many examples available on the web, but I can't make it work with an item of the type "display as text".
    What I'd like to achieve is set a value in a form field and then have a hyperlink appear next to it with that value as one of the arguments. Any idea on how to make this work ?

    Hello Jari,
    Following your comments I changed the following to my javascript script:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function sumItems(){
    function getVal(item){
    if(document.getElementById(item).value != "")
    return parseFloat(document.getElementById(item).value);
    else
    return 0;
    /* test1
    $x('P18_TOTAL').innerHTML = getVal('P18_ONE');
    /* test2
    document.getElementById('P18_TOTAL').innerHTML = getVal('P18_ONE');
    </script>
    The result in both cases (test1 and test2 ) is that nothing happens. In Firefox I don't get any warnings in the error console but in google chrome is see the following message when inspecting the element:
    Uncaught Error: NO_MODIFICATION_ALLOWED_ERR: DOM Exception 7
    [Exception] #<a DOMCoreException>
    I believe its something very trivial I'm missing - can you give me some more direction please ?
