How does "Select Ignore Suspected Duplicates" work?

During import, if I select "Ignore Suspected Duplicates" how does LR decide if a given picture is a duplicate? The on-line help doesn' say.

It is looking for actual, same name and file type duplicates. Basicly with this unchecked it will re-impmort images you have already imported so you will have more than one copy and the will be reported under an 'Already in Library listing under 'Previous Import'.
It does not apply to differently named same images or same named (including extension) different images.

  • How does, Do Not Import Duplicates, work?

Here's what I found in the user manual. (how about that, I read the manual before someone pointed it out to me)
Aperture checks the filename of the master to determine if an image is a duplicate of one in the library.
Aperture is checking the filename of the Master. So, if you always rename Masters, then this feature wouldn't actually do anything. Correct?
What if you are importing an image which happens to have the same filename. Perhaps you've reset your camera's naming feature. Or your importing from a different camera (probably same manufacturer) that happens to be a the point of overlapping, default names?
Does it actually check the entire Library? I wondered since the option is in the section where you are picking the Project to store them in. It makes me think it's only looking in one particular Project.
Either way, I'm not sure this is such a great feature. I'd rather have duplicates, as opposed to skipping files it thinks are duplicates.
What's the best way to utilize this feature?

The user manual says that Aperture checks the filename. I'm not exactly sure what that means.
I imported a couple of images. I changed both the Version and Master name. Then, I used the Batch Change command to change the time zone, so the times were different.
I then tried to re-import the same images. If I checked Do Not Import Duplicates, Aperture hid the images I just imported. If I unchecked it, I could import the images. I left it unchecked and imported the images.
I wound up with duplicates. Even though the Version name, File (Master) name and Date fields for both duplicates were different.
So the feature appears to work pretty good.
My issue is, since I don't know how it works, I'm not sure how to use it.
My concern is that if it's checked, Aperture hides duplicates, so you have to uncheck it to see what Aperture thinks are duplicates. It would be nice if Aperture showed the images it thought was duplicates, but had them grayed out with no way to check the import box.
It would be nice to know how this feature works. How does Aperture decide what makes an import you are about to import a duplicate, or not?

  • How does new Label Management feature works in Aruba Central?

Q: How does new Label Management feature works in Aruba Central?
A: Central provides a standard web-based interface that allows you to configure and monitor multiple Aruba Wi-Fi networks.
With as many as devices that central could manage, searching a specific device or set of devices becomes difficult. This is where "Label management" feature of Aruba Central helps out.
With "Label Management", administrator can create various labels in advance and use them to assign it to different IAPs or Switches as required.  Once the labels are assigned, user can use the label string to search a device or group of devices in central.
Follow these steps create various set of labels in "Label Management":
Login to Aruba Central and click on "All Groups"
In the left-menu, under "Maintenance" select "Label Management"
Click on "Create Label" button and create as many labels you require as per the environment and ease of use.

  • How does the Mac App Store work?!

Hey guys i recently posted this quesiton in a different area of the community but instead of being helped was just ridiculed for posting in the wrong place... +1 for helpfulness guys :/ lol Anyways... ive been told to ask in the development section.. I have a $9.99 app and it was sitting at 10th place in the top grossing apps a few weeks ago on the UK app store, now I noticed in the morning that it was ahead of an app which was 49.99 so i presumed that I must have sold at least 5 or 6 to be ahead of him (my idea of top grossing is quantity x price) but when itunesconnect released their reports in the afternoon it turned out that i'd only sold 1 copy.. so what im asking is basically how does the top grossing section work? and how regularly does it update? is it live? daily? etc
    Thanks in advance!

Your rank is better than the other app because you've made a sale while they've made none. When you make a sale, you jump in the charts, and after that you slowly go down if you don't make another sale. In other words, the bottom of the charts has many apps that didn't make any sale recently. I've also noticed that if you make some sales in other countries than the current chart, that'll very slightly improve your rank.

  • How does the LCM rollback feature work in theory?

    Hi
How does the LCM rollback feature work in theory?
    Let's say
    1. I've Webi report 'x' in QA system
    2. I promote a modified version of webi report 'x' from DEV to QA using LCM. So now I've 'x1' in QA.
    3. I "rollback" this promotion job in LCM. Which means I've get back 'x' in QA system.
So does this mean that LCM kept a "backup" copy of 'x' in QA (CMS+filestore file backup) before overwriting with the promoted 'x1' from DEV?
If yes, does it clear the 'x' anytime from QA? (maybe after second iteration of 'x2'?)

Dear friends, how does EXIT modules in DMEE work?
If I want to use this module DMEE_EXIT_DK_OCR_ACCOUNTNO to extract the account number of an OCR line, what should I do?
And especially what do I put in the import parameters?
    /René

The module called DMEE_EXIT_DK_OCR_ACCOUNTNO is a dummy module or template module if you like.
The problem is that the module DMEE_EXIT_DK_OCR_ACCOUNTNO has a condition that never where fulfilled!
I copied the module to Z_DMEE_EXIT_DK_OCR_ACCOUNTNO and changed the conditions u2013 and then everything was working with import and export parameters!
Either is DMEE_EXIT_DK_OCR_ACCOUNTNO a serious mistake in standard SAP or just an undocumented template to be modified!

Unless you enabled Find My iPad on it before it was stolen then there isn't any way to locate it. If you did enable it then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPad disabled on it.
If it was stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

  • How does select stmt with for all entries uses Indexes

    Hello all,
I goes through a number of documents but still confused how does select for all entries uses indexes if fields are not in sequences. i got pretty much the same results if i take like two cases on Hr tables HRP1000 and HRP1001(with for all entries based upon hrp1000). Here is the sequence of index fields on hrp1001 (MANDT, OTYPE, OBJID, PLVAR, RSIGN, RELAT, ISTAT, PRIOX, BEGDA, ENDDA, VARYF, SEQNR). in second case objid field is in sequence as in defined Index but i dont see significant increase in field even though the number of records are around 30000. My question is does it make a differrence to use field sequence (same as in table indexes) in comparison to redundant field sequence (not same as defined in table indexes), secondly how we can ge tto know if table index is used in Select for entries query i tried Explain in ST05 but its not clear if it uses any index at all in hrp1001 read.
here is the sample code i use to get test results.

Thank you for your answer, its very helpful but i am still nor sure how does parameter rsdb/max_blocking_factor affect records size.
    Hi,
The blocking affects the size of the statement and the memory structures for returning the result.
So if your itab has 500 rows and your blocking is 5, the very same statement will be executed 100 times.
Nothing good or bad about this so far.
Assume, your average result for an inlist 5 statement is 25 records with an average size of 109 bytes.
You average result size will be 2725 byte plus overhead which will nearly perfectly fit into two 1500 byte ethernet frames.
Nothing to do in this case.
Assume your average result for an inlist 5 statement is 7 records with an average size of 67 bytes.
You average result size will be ~ 470 byte plus overhead which will only fill 1/3 of a 1500 byte ethernet frame.
In this case, setting the blocking to 12 ... 15 will give you 66% network transfer performance gain,
and reduces the number of calls to the DB by 50%, giving additional benefit.
Now this is an extreme example. The longer the average row length is, the lower will be the average loss in the network.
You have the same effects in memory structures, but on that layer you are fighting single micro seconds instead of
hundreds of these, so in real life it is rarely measurable.
Depending on table-statistics, oracle might decide for short inlists to use a concatanation instead of an inlist.
This is supposed to be more costy, but I never had a case where I could proove a big difference.
Values from 5 to 15 for blocking seem to be ok for me. If you have special statements in customer coding,
it #might# be benefitial to do the mentioned calculations and do some network tracing to see if you can squeeze your
network efficiency by tuning the blocking.
If you have jumbo frames enabled, it might be worth to be analyzed as well.
If you are only on a DB-CI system that is loopback connected to the DB, I doubt there might be a big outcome.
    Hope this helps

  • GRC - Role Expert v5.2: how does the Transaction Usage functionality work

    Hi All,
re: GRC - Role Expert v5.2: how does the Transaction Usage functionality work
We are implementing GRC suite v5.2, but specifically my question is regarding Role Expert:
SAP documentation states that it is possible to use Role Expert to do the following: for roles allows you to see if, or how much, a transaction is being used, when it was last used, and who used it.
My question is how without Audit Log or RBE?
Let me know if you have ever used this functionality and if it requires the SAP Back-End Audit Log to be turned on or RBE.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Gary,
You dont need a RBE tool activation to get the successful transaction usage log with Role Expert.
Role Expert functionality allows you to log all the transactions that have been added/deleted to the role that is changed. Also when you create a new role via the Role Expert then automatically the transaction log starts.
If you go the "History" tab in the Role Expert, then you can find all the last changes made to the role.
Also you can go to the "Risk Analysis" tab to find the log of Risk Analysis performed with the added tcodes.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Kiran Kandepalli.

  • How does SMB 3 Multipath actualy work?

First of all, sorry if there is a better form to post this in, I didn't see a general networking or SMB forum.
I've been trying to find anything about how SMB 3 Multipath actually works at a networking level (OSI Layer 2, Layer 3). I can't find anything that actually talks about how it achieves multipathing once it's out of its exit interface. Even how it actually chooses
potential exit interfaces is still a mystery to me.
How does the MAC address forwarding work? Does it somehow dynamically learn the available MACs on the destination and split the load between them? If that's the case does it work over layer 3 subnets if there are two available routes? How does it learn about
multiple available paths and actually get the network equipment to use them? In other words if Server A and B have 4 NICs they have 4 MAC addresses or more, one or more IP addresses, teamed or not teamed. Layer 2 adjacency vs Layer 3. There are a lot of variables
that it has to work with. Is DNS involved at all? If my connection attempt is the server.domain.local DNS might have more than one IP address that server is reachable from but if I connect to 192.168.1.1 then I'm specifying an IP and DNS doesn't come into
play, does that affect SMB 3 Multipath?
I know SMB 3 works when in a team and not in a team, I've tried it. But if it is in an LACP team then once it leaves the server NIC it's up to the switch to forward that to the destination based on the hash, for a single flow in normal situations the switch
would pick the same interface but I get increased bandwidth so I know the switch is sending to both interfaces, so I assume there are multiple flows. That means something about the flows has to be different, I assume the destination MACs, but I haven't put
    a packet capture to look...yet...
Does anyone know of any papers or details that talk about these issues they can point me to? Every blog post or video I've seen is super generic about how it actually works. It's not magic.

    Hi,
With Multichannel, SMB will create multiple TCP/IP connections for that single session (at least one per interface or more if they are RSS-capable). This allows SMB to use
the combined NIC bandwidth available and makes it possible for the SMB client to continue to work uninterrupted if a NIC fails.
Although a team always provides fault tolerance, SMB without Multichannel will create only one TCP/IP connection per team, leading to limitations in both the number of CPU
cores engaged and the use of the full team bandwidth.

  • How does "SELECT" statment  work?

    Hi,
    Correct me if I'm wrong.
Data selected by SELECT statement  (without ORDER BY) is unordered and sequence of selected lines may differ every time you execute the same SELECT.
My problem is that data on a production system has been always selected ordered ( without ORDER BY)  and suddenly it changes and the rows of a result set are unordered.
It's also strange for me that it works differently on a test system and data is selected ordered ( the code is the same on both systems ).
    Two questions:
    1. How is it possible that data was always selected ordered? (the only answer which comes to my head is "LUCK" )
    2. What has happened that data is now selected unordered? (and works as SELECT statment should work by definition)
    Thanks for any ideas,
    Mario

    Hello,
I see there is an equality 3-3 in the match here, between
    1) those who are for "it's ordered" (Rodrigo Ariel G..., Danish2285, pavankumar.g)
    2) and those "it's not ordered" (Diwakar Aggarwal, Keshav.T, Matt).
So I'd like to play too :-D and my answer is "it's not ordered" (with Diwakar Aggarwal, Keshav.T, Matt).
    now 3-4
My advice is: always trust the SAP documentation when it's said explicitly (I'm aware that the arguments or context are sometimes missing, so a confirmation is then needed).
You'll find it also in the wikipedia for SQL article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQL#Queries): "The ORDER BY clause identifies which columns are used to sort the resulting data, and in which direction they should be sorted (options are ascending or descending). Without an ORDER BY clause, the order of rows returned by an SQL query is undefined."
Oracle SQL Reference, in the Query Optimizer section (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10752/optimops.htm#35891) : "If data must be sorted by order, then use the ORDER BY clause, and do not rely on an index. If an index can be used to satisfy an ORDER BY clause, then the optimizer uses this option and avoids a sort."
In fact, this is logic when we know how RDBMS are built, all this is about the selection of the access path to get the data (that we see with the explain plan, the path depends especially on what the database contains, that is different between test and production), the faster way to do things (an ordering is not always required, so why the RDBMS would spend time to organize it)
Don't we have this question in the Forum's FAQ by the way?
