How exchange messages between two user-bean instances?

Hi,
I would like to let several user to log-in my web site (I'm using tomcat) and then let them exchange some messages until they are logged-in. Is there a way using JSF?
I was thinking about implementing a list of messages inside each user-bean. The user should know that other users are logged-in, that could be listed in a table, and click on its name. I would like that the click action create an item in the list valiable of the selected user. Is that possible using JSF? I didn't find any of such kind of communication between two user-bean instances.
Do you have any hints? Is that the right way or is there other possibilities?
Thanks

You could get hold of a map of sessions in the application scope. Make use of HttpSessionListener to add/remove sessions to/from the map.
JSF is just another component based MVC framework on top of JSP/Servlet. Everything which you can do in JSP/Servlet is just still possible. You only need to understand how JSF works under the hood.

  • How Exchange Messages Between ML Desktop iMessage and GMail on PC?

    iMessage Mavens,
If this forum (iChat) is not the proper place to post iMessage questions, please accept my apologies.
Earlier today, a client requested an IM session. On a WinTel system (PC), they use Gmail and a PC-Gmail client.
After an futile hour of research, I cannot find a way to exchange messages from iMessage (specifically using the Mountain Lion desktop iMessage client or iMessage on my iPad or iPhone) and my client's GMail account.
How can message exchange between iMessage and a PC running a GMail be provisioned?
    Many, many thanks.

    Hi,
Lets start with some terms so we are all talking the same "Language"
The Messages App in Mountain Lion can do two sorts of Text chats
    1) iMessages to iOS devices and other Macs using Messages (that have registered an Apple ID for IMessages)
    2) Instant Messages (IMs) to various services such as AIM, Jabber or Yahoo (In iChat 6 or later)
iChat will Text chat to a person using an Google Talk ID if they are logged in to a web Browser > Google Mail or iGoogle) with Talk Enabled on their Account
You just have to have a Jabber account of some sort logged in on iChat and have added them as a Buddy.
They could also be using any one of a number of Instant Message Apps that allow either PC or Mac users to login to multiple services.
Google have also released a Stand alone App called GoogleTalk for PC users.
It may be simpler if you don't want to set up Messages for a Jabber ID that you use your Web Browser and A Google Mail Login having Enabled Talk on your Account.
    To be clear.
iMessages are a form of communication
They are text Messages to iOS devices or Macs who have registered an Apple ID for iMessages
They can not be sent to any old email Address
They cannot be particularly, sent to other services such as AIM or Jabber  (this is despite the Messages window having the Text chat area)
Google run a Jabber server using the IDs of the Google Mail Service with the "Talk" option enabled to be valid Jabber IDs
You needs to use a Jabber ID of some sort in Messages (Or iChat)
In the Mountain Lion Community here at Apple Support Communities there is a "Messages" Category tag you can use when posting there.

  • How merge iTunes between two users sharing a Mac

I have my "side" of our iMac G5 pwrpc; my wife has hers. Just been given an iTouch for our living room receiver dock. So would like to merge our music libraries onto one side or the other and produce a playlist we can share.
Can this be done? If so reference to instructions?
    Thx!

First, back up your computer in case it does things you don't like.  I'm not testing this on my computer.
You'll have to deactivate iTunes managing your music (deselect in preferences having iTunes organize your music and copying it to your media folder when adding to iTunes).  Do the same for iTunes in her account.
Go to your iTunes folder and drag the music folder in Media to the Shared Users folder at the top level of the drive.  You may also need to get info on the music folder and change permissions on it and all enclosing items so she has permission to use it too.
It is just possible your copies of iTunes may track all the moves. It would be good if it does.  I know I have manage music disabled on my computer and iTunes is good at tracking when I move things around in Finder, unlike when iTunes is totally terrible at tracking when you let it manage music.  If it doesn't track then you may have to face rebuilding your libraries using the music in the new location.
You will have to come to an agreement in deleting music.  Fortunately in the manually manage mode you are using if you delete a track in your iTunes it will not delete the actual file.  You have to manually delete it in Finder which is good because she may still be using the file.
If one of you renames the file, it will affect both. Haven't tried this but in theory you would each retain your individual ratings and last played.
Let us know if it works.

How do I share one itunes account between two users on the same computer without taking up twice as much space on my hard drive?

You would need to move the itunes folder to a location that both users have permissions to access such as the Shared folder or any folder on the root level of the macintosh HD.
You can find instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203 This method allows you to share the content without sharing the same library.

Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly   Thanks anyway!

  • Reg: How to automate updation of tables between two oracle DB Instances

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to auto update the tables between two oracle database instances. What are the possible solutions to handle this kind of situations.
Please help me out in identifying the correct solution.
    Thanks in advance :)

The possible solutions are outlined in the distributed database documentation
    They are
    a) trigger (6.0 and higher)
    b) advanced replication. Creates triggers on every table. Requires every table to have a primary key (8.0 and higher)
    c) Streams (Uses logminer, has no impact on table. Requires every table to have a primary key, or supplemental logging will be used. (9.0 and higher)
    d) Change Data Capture: superset of Streams (9i and higher).
If you don't require realtime updates you don't need c or d. b is difficult to manage. Using a) the source db can potentially have to wait for the target db to complete it's transaction.

  • How to share/exchange songs between two iPods?

    Hi,
I would like to know of a way(s) to share/exchange songs between two iPods (synced to two separate computers).
    Thanks,

    Apu,
It's possible to share between two computers but not two iPods, change the settings for the pod to manual > Edit > Preferences > iPod.

  • Exchange Messages Between Foreground and Background Tasks

I'm working on an Application where I use background task for handling Bluetooth communication. For that, I'm trying to exchange messages between foreground and background tasks when the Bluetooth device sends
something and want to notify the foreground about it. Similarly, I want the foreground to send messages to background when the user activates something. I've started doing that using event handlers but it is not reliably working. Looks like the problem is
coming from the synchronization between these two tasks. I found the class BackgroundMediaPlayer which does what I really want , except controlling the media player. What are the options of doings that?

    Hi Rob,
Thank you for your reply. So in this case, I guess each process shall keep reading the file and see if there are commands to be processed. Is there a way to raise an event when the content of the file get changed? Are there existing file handling classes
    that support this?

  • Can you transfer files between two user accounts on the same macbook pro?

Can you transfer files between two user accounts on the same MacBook Pro?
Specifically, I used the Migration Assistant to move music and photos from my old PC to my new MacBook.
Somehow, I missed the fact that it was creating a new user account when it was doing this.  So none of music and photos are in the user account I originally set-up.  Instead, all these files are now in a different account.
I'd like to consolidate all my files on the one user account and delete the other one.
Is this possible and, if so, how do I do it?
    Thank you.

you can crop files from one account to another using the Public Dropbox which every user account has.  Log into the user that has the files you want to move, then drag the folder you want to the new users' dropbox:
I suggest a small scale test on a few files first before moving gigabytes of files.

  • Using the same photos and music between two user accounts in the same Mac

    Hi,
I think this question might have already been asked in the forum.
    1. I have one MacBook Pro and two user accounts (One for me and one for my wife)
    2. We are having two seperate iPhones with seperate AppleIDs
    3. We want to maintain the apps / calendar / mail / reminders / contacts as seperate - Through iCloud (Seperate Apple ID approach) - All this is fine
    4. All we want to have it shared is the Music files and the Photo library without duplicating
I have tried the shared folder approach for the music and having the iTunes point to that directory for the libary location in the preferences but unfortunately if she adds a folder to the library mine does not get updated unless I do a add folder to library and vice versa.
Whats the best way to deal with the Photos / Music sharing between two user accounts on the same mac
    Thanks
    Shas

To give other users read-only access to your iTunes library, use the Sharing features of iTunes. Sharing works over the local network as well as on the same computer. See the built-in help for details.
To give others selective access to your iPhoto library, you have the option of using iCloud Photo Sharing, if the privacy implications don't bother you. The images will be stored temporarily on Apple servers.
If you want to give full read/write access to more than one user, see the support articles linked below.
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users
There is a way to share the library without moving it to a secondary volume. If you really need to do that, ask for instructions.
