How Nokia Lost Me as a Customer

Dear Nokia,
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this message, but I am tired of not being heard by any of the other means of communication with the company.
I bought a Nokia Lumia 900 around April 2012 (right after release) for full price and off-contract. The phone works great and looks even better. In terms of functionality, wp7.5 is great and in my honest opinion way better than iOS and Android. In fact, I was thrilled to hear Nokia had gone with Windows Phone, which definitely factored into my desicion to buy the Lumia originally.
However, what I did not know, was the extent of neglect that Nokia would put me through after that. I am a student, and about 3 months after I bought the phone, I left the US to begin a study abroad program in Spain. When I tried to unlock my Lumia 900 for international use, I hit a brick wall. As it turned out, the Lumia 900 is an AT&T exclusive, so while Rogers users (in Canada) and in other networks around the world could unlock theirs without an issue, AT&T users were STUCK until the magical date of October 8th (the date at which the phone would become eligible for unlock). 
We are now at October 17th, and despite my numerous attempts to obtain an unlock code, my phone is still locked. This is what my experience has been: AT&T asks for my IMEI #, then claims that the phone is indeed eligible for unlock, but they cannot for whatever reason find the code. After HOURS on the phone, they "opened a case" for it, for which I never received an answer. AT&T also recommended calling Nokia. Off to call Nokia. Nokia says that they do not have the unlock codes, and that I should call Microsoft. Off to call Microsoft. Microsoft says that they do not have the codes, and that I should call AT&T. Needless to say how much time has been wasted on this and how stressful, frustrating and futile the effort has been.
This entire issue is not even to mention the fact that my phone will not be able to support Windows Phone 8. Which essentially means that I am stuck, overseas, with an obsolete phone that I can't use and can't sell.
Thank you Nokia for at least venting my frustration. Unfortunately though, you have lost a previously passionate customer.

Sorry to hear about your experience obtaining an unlock code. Providing unlock codes is the responsibility of the carrier and Nokia Care will not be able to assist you with this. Besides that Nokia Support Discussions is a user to user support platform and not a 'direct to Nokia' support channel.
I understand that being in Europe will make it more difficult to communicate with AT&T but unfortunately there is no other option. I will however forward your post internally and ask for this to be looked into. You are obviously free to contact Nokia Care USA directly to voice your opinion on this to them as well. You could ask them to also forward this. You can reach them through voice, mail or chat using the 'Contact us' link on this page.

    I have been a strong supporter of Apple products since I switched from a PC four years ago. I've told everyone how great the products are and how well they work. I've gotten my friends and family on board with various devices and computers.
    That has now all changed.
    I am a freelance multimedia designer. It's how I make a living. So when I have computer issues, I need them fixed or I lose money and clients.
    - Last week my MacBook Pro booted to a blue screen.
    - I searched the Apple discussion forums to find a fix. 
    - I held down various keys to try to boot from safe mode, from the installation disk, etc.
    - With none of these options working, I called Apple Support and paid $50 for over the phone support
    - After explaining everything I'd tried, the technician told me it was the Hard Drive and I needed to take my computer to an Apple Store, boot it up from a separate Mac, and run disk utility to try to repair the disk.
    - The closest Apple Store is 1 hour away.
    - I drive an hour immediately to the Apple Store, and have them do what the technician said
    - The response I got was "Your HD is shot, it needs to be replaced."
    - I say "Well, I'm here, let's do it. Time is valuable here."
    - They say "We aren't doing repairs tonight. You have to come back tomorrow."
    - I say, "So if I drive an hour home, and then an hour back tomorrow, you'll be able to back up my data and replace the HD?"
    - They say "No, we can replace the HD but we don't back up data. You need to have a 3rd party do the back up. But we can get you a 1 Terabyte HD, where now you only have a 100 gigabyte one."
    - So I drive an hour home, and find the closest place that can back up my data. It is also, an hour away.
    - So Monday, I drive an hour to a 3rd party company. I drive an hour home.
    - Tuesday I drive an hour back to the 3rd party company, pick up my external hd with my backed up data, my computer, and drive 30 min back to the Apple Store.
    - I tell the technician I need a new HD. He says the best they can do is a 160 gigabyte HD. I ask about the 1 terabyte one. He says that's not possible. 
    - He asks me what OS I am running.  I say "Snow Leopard, the latest version. Here's my installation disk." He says "We don't need it, we have a copy."
    - I drive an hour home
    - Wednesday I get a call my computer is ready for pick up. 
    - I drive an hour to the Apple Store.
    - I pick up my computer and bring it home.
    - I turn it on, and they've installed regular leopard, not snow leopard.
    - I find out Lion is released. I get excited. "I'll just get Lion right now!!"
    - I cannot get Lion running regular leopard. I need snow leopard to get Lion.
    - I try to install snow leopard myself. I get an error 10 min in. And then my computer won't boot up again.
    - I call Apple Support and reopen my case. The technician, Robert, calls the Apple Store for me. He says he is sorry for the confusion, but he has set up a appointment for me the next day and I need to take my computer back to the Apple Store, and have them install Snow Leopard. 
    - I ask "Can't they just install Lion?" He says "No, you have to download and install that yourself."
    - I get mad and call the Apple Store directly and demand they install the correct version that evening, not the next day. The woman I spoke to said "No problem, we spoke with Robbert so just get here as fast as you can and we'll take care of you."
    - So I drive an hour back to the Apple Store, for the 4th time in 3 days, for the 2nd time that day
    - When I get there, the woman I spoke to is gone and no one has any clue what I'm talking about.
    - I speak to the manager. He says they can install the correct version, but it may take over night.
    - I tell him "I know it only takes 45min to do, so if you think I'm driving home again and back tomorrow he must be insane."
    - They rush and get Snow Leopard installed as the store is closing.
    - I drive an hour home
    - On the way, I purchase a song on my iPhone to try to ease the stress. The song does not download, but instead erases all media from my phone. Great.
    - I get home, and immediately turn on my computer, open the Mac App Store, and buy Lion.
    - Error Message: You do not have the right processor to buy Lion.
    - Of course.
    - But at least I have my computer back and I can work on the now 3 projects I've been pushing back.
    - Computer freezes again. Boots to blue screen again. Exact same problem I had at the very beginning.
    - Not only was the diagnosis wrong with two paid on the phone technicians and the Apple Genius bar, but no one bothered to check and see if the problem was ever fixed. They guessed, had me pay for a new HD and labor, and sent me on my way.
    - I give up, exhausted and worried. I turn on my Apple TV to get my mind off things. No streaming videos with no computer. Open Netflix. 
    - "Netflix is currently not available."
    - Thursday, 7/21, I reopen my case on the phone for the 2nd time. The technician, evidently a different "Robert," listens as I explain the whole ordeal and how badly I feel I've been treated.
    - I demand a refund in the "fixes" because they didn't fix anything. He says "Let me call the Apple Store you went to and see what I can do."
    - He calls back an hour later and says while he can't refund what I've already paid, he is going to make an exception for me seeing as all the trouble I've been through has affected my business and my view of Apple products.
    - He says he will ship me a box that will arrive Friday, 7/22. I am to put my laptop in the box and mail it back. They will work on it and I will get it back by Wednesday, 7/27.
    - He apologizes again and says not to worry, they are going to set me up with "quite a nice machine" to make up for all this.
    - 2 minutes later I get another call from Apple. They want to know if I am interested in a part time job as a support specialist. I forgot I had applied earlier this month.
    - I do a 30 min interview about my knowledge and troubleshooting with Apple Products
    - Friday goes by, no box arrives.
    - I do a 2nd interview about becoming an Apple Support Specialist
    - Saturday, Sunday, & Monday go by, no box arrives.
    - Monday evening, tonight, I reopen my case a third time just to make sure the address is correct and to make sure the box will come tomorrow.
    - I speak to a senior technician named Khurram. I ask for Robert. He says he cannot connect me with Robert.
    - I tell Khurram the whole story, everything I've been through. I ask about the box and how I want to confirm my address. 
    - He does some checking, and tells me Robert never sent a box, at all.
    - I've been waiting 3 days for nothing.
    - He takes my information and says he will get me a box tomorrow. 
    - I tell him that Robert promised me a very good machine and I say I just want something that will run Lion
    - Khurram says no, that's impossible.
    - He says he will take care of me, just like Robert said.
    So now we're back to square one. A week and half ago I was practically a walking Apple crusader, telling everyone and anyone that Apple was the way to go. I even applied to work for them.
    But after this insane, poorly managed fiasco, I don't want to work for Apple. My view of the company and products has changed entirely. I've been passed from one "genius" to the next, driving for hours and hours, losing money everyday because of this. 
    I lost one of my freelance jobs. A second one is on the fence. I have to borrow a PC from the third company in order to meet a deadline. I feel I've been made to look so unprofessional.
    I cannot run a freelance business that hinges on a product that is so poorly supported in technical problems. I doubt my next system will be an Apple product. I doubt I will be recommending Apple products to my friends and family in the future. I know I won't step foot in the Apple Store at Polaris Fashion Mall in Columbus, OH again. I might however, be relaying this story.
    That is how much this issue has affected me and my business.

    Your whole story ***** and I am sorry for you. However, this is what I do when that sort of thing happens. Apparently your MacBook is old if it has a Core Duo (not a Core2Duo for Lion).
    The easiest solution would have been to just buy a new one, and have the old one repaired at leisure. That's what a  professional would do. Then, once your old one is repaired, it is a back up machine for future fiascos. Also, buy APPLECARE. It's worth it's wieght in gold. Once, I brought an iMac in for repair for the same issue a second time and their solution was to just hand me a brand new iMac, two models newer than the broken one.
    When my wife was working on her master's thesis, her iMac died. Just died. No startup nothing, no screens. Just dead. It was 8 pm. her Thesis was due in 5 days. We rushed to the Apple store and simply bought a new iMac. Then the next day, I brought her old one for repair. It took a week, but was fixed--after the thesis was due. But it wasn't a point of stress for us because her thesis was on Time Machine backup and on her new iMac, and turned in.
    So although your situtation is insane and I totaly feel for you, you have to operate under the assumption that EVERYONE IS A MORON, and cover your own butt (maybe it's just the Gen-Xer in me). I assume situations like yours will happen everywhere. The Apple Store, the Crocs Store, Cold Stone Creamery, the driver's license place, ... customer support will always be like your experience. If you think that it doesn't happen everywhere, just go buy a Dell--I've used their support as well. only they mailed me a bluetooth chip and had me install it myself...omg.

    I ask this question for the Nokia 808 PureView 41MP camera. It produces stunning image quality but exposure can only be controlled via EV +/- compensation. I need a lens profile to correct for vignetting to get even skies in panorama (which turn out stunningly otherwise). There is no profile for the Nokia 808 PureView I am aware of and I'd like to produce one.
    Is the Adobe profile creator able to correct for varying exposure using EXIF or overlapping parts of the chart or background?
    Or would the Adobe profile creator ignore EXIF if I use studio flash to enforce a constant lightning situation, even if shutter speed would vary (aperture is constant and ISO can be set constant, just not the shutter speed)?
    Or did Adobe produce a profile internally they can share?

    If you read the first post, this is the camera-app of a 41MP Nokia Pureview 808 camera-phone, so maybe someone could write a new camera app but the phone is Symbian OS which is dead, making that unlikely.

    It would probably be easier for Adobe to rewrite the LPC to allow vignetting to be computed from a single shot of a blank wall without a target in the shot, than to have someone rewrite a camera app that allows manual exposure.
    Another idea about how to get the phone to keep a constant exposure would be to experiment with putting darker and lighter objects in the field-of-view away from the target area to make the camera metering adjust things so it’s exposure is the same from one shot to the next.  This would take some doing but should work, unless the LPC uses the part of the frame that doesn’t contain the checkboard target in its computations.
    You’re basically varying the scene around the target so the camera takes the same exposure of the target each time.

      Yes you are right. In FI transaction you can get the sales invoice wise , reference field of the header data.
      As you are aware that while creating a sales order , no FI entry is generated.
      In my opinion you can get the required report through customization.

    My scenario is that I want to create a unique id for a message which should be remain unique throughout  biztalk so that I can track it anywhere.
    I got messageID context property of message in decoding pipeline component through IBaseMessage pInMsg.MessageID.ToString() and
    got the same messageID   in orchestration through messageName(BTS.MessageID) in expression shape.
    But when I am using a custom disassembler component , I am unable to get the same messageID in orchestration because disassembler stage create a new messageID.
    Can I use interchangeID of message for this scenario ?
    If yes,how can I get interchangeID in custom decoding component as well as in orchestration ?

  • How do I tell if the customer is B2B or B2C

    I'm wanting to create a "dealer" area on our website.  A place where B2B customers can go to download special deals, pricelists, etc.
    My idea was to put a link on the my account page to an asp page that I would build.  On that page I need it to figure out if the customer in that session is B2B or not.  If not, give them a "sorry" message, and redirect them back to the my account page.
    If it's a dealer, it displays the page with all the dealer info.
    Is there a way to do this in netpoint already?  If so, how?  If not, how do I tell if the customer is B2B or not in an asp page?

    In R/3 we have a Plant PL01. In the initial load of object DNL_PLANT this creates CRM BP #101 with role BBP003.
    In R/3 we have a Customer CPL01 (linked to Plant PL01 in R/3 customizing table T001W). In the initial load of object BUPA_MAIN this creates CRM BP #102 CRM000.
    In R/3 we have a Vendor VPL01 (linked to Plant PL01 in R/3 customizing table T001W). In the initial load of object VENDOR_MAIN this creates CRM BP #103 with role BBP000.
    Question 1: How can we create the R/3 Plant PL01 in CRM as BP #PL01 (i.e. using an external number range)?
    Question 2: How can we create the Plant, Customer & Vendor as a single CRM BP #?
    Points will be rewarded.

    The problem you face is that CRM is going to download those as three separate partners.
    Note 865321 gives a solution on how to load plants into CRM in an external range that you would specify.  This is however for DNL_PLANT.
    Your next issue is unless your plant as customer and your plant as a vendor are in separate account groups for each, you won't be able to map these into a single business partner in CRM, unless you do some manipulation.
    I guess what you could do on an initial load for those objects is the following:
    1.  If the customer or vendor is a plant:
    - Remanipulate the BDOC so that it becomes the single "plant business partner", on the ERP side.
    2.  For delta's you will need to also do this remanipulation.
    3.  If you plan on sending delta changes from CRM back to R/3 then on the CRM side you will need to decide how to distribute the changes from the single business partner back to the customer and vendor partners.
    This is definitely possible, but it is going to take some effort and you will need a very seasoned middleware developer to make it happen.  I am guessing a couple of weeks for a experienced middleware guru to complete this.

    Amruta,
    I had the same query today and finally found the answer.
    In order to change the title text or description of the "Customer Data" tab in ME23N, etc. you need to define a new text symbol in program SAPLXM06. The text symbol must be number 111 for the PO data. Make sure you define this text symbol in the language you are using when viewing the PO. I had issues with this as the original language of object SAPXM06 is not my logon language.
    The standard code which picks up this text is in function module MEGUI_BUILD_PO_ITEM_PLUGIN. I could not find any documentation around this functionality.

    Hi,
    The steps are -
    1. The customer number must be entered in the corresponding vendor master record
        a. FK02->General Data -> Control
            In the 'Account control' tab, in the 'Customer' field, enter the customer number
        b. In the Company Code Data --> Payment Transaction Accounting, select the checkbox - 'Clrg with Cust'
    2. The vendor number must be entered in the corresponding customer master record
        a. FD02->General Data -> Control
            In the 'Account control' tab, in the 'Customer' field, enter the vendor number
        b. In the Company Code Data --> Payment Transaction Accounting, select the checkbox - 'Clearing with vendor'
    3. For testing, create a vendor invoice through FB60 and customer invoice through FB70.  Note that customer and vendor are properly selected.
    4. For clearing the open items.  Use the Tcode F-32.  On clicking the 'Process open Items', the vendor invoice (KR) and customer invoice (DR) are shown automatically.  It will generate the FI document with proper entry.
    Note:  Partial / Residual payment between customer and vendor is also possible

    Label used for search helps.
    Only uppercase letters are stored in this field. Your entries are converted automatically to uppercase letters.
    There are two of these fields for search terms. These fields can be used independently of each other.
    Procedure
    You can use your own criteria for entering the search term.
    Example
    You can enter the main part of the name or an organizational ID.
    For example, for the company "Hechinger & Sons", you could enter "Hechinger" as the first search term.
    The second search term could then be the name ID you use within your company, to help you identify your data later.

    I call the custom code in the cell with the following equation:

    I have the format for the cell set to 0.00%, but it’s not being followed.
    I want the result to be formatted as a Percentage, but instead I get values like: 
    -78.9473684210

    After testing the issue in my local environment, I can reproduce it. Based on my research, I find this issue is caused by the type of Units_VAR_Percentage cell is string, while the type of CDbl(Parameters!Var_Threshold.Value) is double, so they cannot be
    compared.
    To fix this issue, we can add a hidden column (Textbox91) next to the Units_VAR_Percentage column, and type =(sum(Fields!TY_UNITS.Value)-sum(Fields!LY_UNITS.Value)) /sum(Fields!LY_UNITS.Value) as the expression. Then use the expression below to control the
    BackgroundColor:
    =iif(iif(reportitems!Units_VAR_Percentage.Value=CStr(format(reportitems!Textbox91.Value,"0.00%")),reportitems!Textbox91.Value,0)>CDbl(Parameters!Var_Threshold.Value),"Yellow","PaleTurquoise")
