How plot Current VS Voltage (XY graph??)

Hello,
I obtain current and voltage by analog inputs of an USB 6009, and I need to plot it in the same graph (C vs V).
Please help me, it is very important to finish my proyect.
I attachment a sample of the graph that I want.
Thanks

Can anyone  tell me how to plot a graph in labview with any other parameter other than time on x-axis. I am not able to plot v versus i graph, as I guessed it is only able to plot v versus time and i versus time!
You can edit the label of the x axis to say anything you want. The string "time" is only the default label. If the X values are equally spaced, all you need is define x0 and dx for a plain waveform graph. If the x values are not equally spaced, you need an xy graph.
You really need to be a bit more clear explaining what you want. Attach your code and some typical data. Show us what you get and explain what you want instead.
All this is well defined. No guessing needed (especially if your guess is wrong!).

  • Using XY Graph to plot current and voltage

    Hi,
I'm making an I-V curve tracer, and am hoping to plot current and voltage measurements I'm acquiring onto an XY Graph in realtime.  I'm using Labview 2010 on Windows Vista, with the VISA drivers installed; my acquisition hardware is an Arduino Uno communicating over USB to serial via VISA drivers.
My data is coming in over the serial port formatted like "voltage, current":
    237,521
    320,402
I've read through the relevant documentation for the graph builder, the 4 samples included with LabView, and quite a few posts on this forum.  I modified Jazlan's sample VI to read the current and voltage, and display the values on the front panel - it works just fine.  However, when I wire those values to an Express XY Graph builder (and set the 'clear data on each call' property to false) and run the software, it just sort of freezes... I try to stop it, but it keeps running for about 10-20 seconds.  The current/voltage values are not updated, nor is anything displayed in the XY graph.
Am I not sending the correct input to the graph builder?
Should I just wire up my values directly to the XY graph by concatenating values to an array, and then clustering it?
Also, on the right border of my case structure, one of the orange squares is not solid - how do I fix that?
    any help much appreciated!

    thanks for the tip Tim,
I wired up the stop button to the VISA close block, and now I'm able to run and stop it multiple times without freezing.
    1)  I know how to add shift registers, but why do I need one?  It doesn't seem like I need to pass values from one iteration of the while loop to another...

  • How plotting on a digital waveform graph the bit transition in function of the time

    Hi everyone,
I am using LabView 6.1 on a Windows XP computer. I am to plot output bits sequences on a digital waveform graph just before sending the information to a board.
So far I can see the transitions for my 16-bit port (16 plots) but the width of a pulse is always identical, no matter what times I enter. I wired my 1-D array timestamps to the property node Xscale.MarkerVals[] of my digital waveform graph... but it doesn't seem to affect my plotting...
Thanks in advance for any help concerning this problem.

Well here is piece of my VI with the necessary sub VI.
I also want to hide/unhide plots... I have found how to hide.. but cannot figure out how to unhide.
    Any help please ?

  • How do I make an XY-Graph plot points over time?

I am building a program to plot and take data of a relationship between two voltages.  One is voltage is uniquely dependent on the other.  So far I have successfully built an XY-Graph to plot the voltages against each other (Voltage1 along the x-axis and Voltage2 along the y-axis).  However, the XY-Graph only diplays the point (V1, V2) at the instantaneous time I am looking at it, and does not continuously plot different points as I vary the independent voltage.  I need the graph to display all the points that occur as I vary the independent voltage.  As of right now, all I see is one little cursor that moves all over the graph as I vary it.  My program consists of a While Loop that contains all of the following:  two seperate data anolog input functions that take both voltage separately from my board.  The the output samples from each 'AI Sample' function are then bundled into one cluster using the 'bundle' function.  The cluster output from the 'bundle' function is then wired to a 'build array' function.  The 1-D array output from the 'build array' function is then wired to my 'XY-Graph'.  How do I get the XY-Graph to plot a point every millisecond or so?

Bundling and then using the Build Array is not correct. Yuo can see the correct method in the help for an XY Graph below. In order to use the normal XY Grpah, you would have two shif registers. One for the X array and one for the Y. Bundle the two arrays and then wire to the graph.
The other way is to use the Express XY Graph. With that, you can just wire your scalars to the X and Y inputs and set the Reset input to false.

  • How to add multiple plots programtically to XY graph.

    Hello,
I am new to Labview. My code is reading Voltage value from no. of Power supply & storing in 1D-array of string. No. of power supply will depend upon user selection. Now I want to plot all these Voltage's value to XY graph,in which X is time stamp at which  value is read & Y  is Voltage value.
Please suggest me a solution to add multiple plots programtically according to the no of power supply, so user can have a one XY Graph with multiple plots of  Voltage's value of each Power supply.

Better hide from the front panel. In my projects user used to had 6 plot at the maximum. Before plotting I used to ask how many parameter you want to plot. All the time I used to plot 6 plots only but visible according to parameter selection done by user.
Here is what I used to do
Kudos are always welcome if you got solution to some extent.
I need my difficulties because they are necessary to enjoy my success.

  • When simulating a circuit, how do I display current and voltage on the circuit?

Hello, how do I get Current and Voltage to display on the circuit design without using meters?

    saxyman123,
You can use probes (yellow instrument towards the end of the instruments toolbar) and then set the properties.  You can choose to display just current and voltage.

i was going to use a 20amp 50mv, or a 20amp 100mv current shunt and connect wires directly into the AI input terminals of the scc-68 from the current shunt would these be suitable. would current shunts such as these be suitable to use http://uk.farnell.com/elc/sh10020/shunt-sh10020-20a-100mv-1-class/dp/1319576 or http://uk.farnell.com/datel/3020-01098-0/shunt-50mv-20a/dp/1339338
is it ok to use either a current shunt or should a hall effect sensor be used  such as this http://ie.farnell.com/honeywell-s-c/csla2cd/sensor-hall-effect/dp/1082269 . which of them would be more accurate or are both of them fairly accurate.
when i am measuring voltage can i connect two resistors between the positive and negative of the wires going to the battery and connect two wires from either side of the resistor directly into the analog inputs of the scc-68 and measure the 12-15 volts directly would the pci6221 and scc-68 be able to measure the voltage drop across the resistor.
i wanted to measure rpm also does it matter whether the proximity switch has 2 or 3 wires and should it have an analog or digital/frequency output for cponnecting to the scc-68

  • How can I make a waveform graph store the entire wave, not just the current time period and how can I save the actual graph?

I am taking temp readings with a 4 channel DAQ, sending them to a waveform graph and exporting the data to excel, how do I manipulate the graph to take a continuous reading as opposed to losing the previous GUI and how can I save the entire graph?
Using LabVIEW 2011 operating on Windows 7 professional.

That is the nature of the chart -- everything not in the history is lost (it is a FIFO buffer of length=1024 samples by default).
The scroll bar is probably grayed out because you're show all of the data.
Attached is a program that will add 5 random points to a graph and prompt you for a file location where to save a JPG snapshot of the graph.  It's not particularly good programming style, but it has all of the elements/concepts you're after.

  • Chart Web Part to not plot zeros on a line graph

    Hi all,
Is it possible to not plot zeros on a line graph?
I have a line chart with days of the current month along the x-axis and a value on the y-axis. I have a series representing a forecast as a line that will show what the values along for the whole month should be and a second
line chart series representing the actual. This tells the reader how the actual is tracking against the forecast. The data is based on an excel table.
Currently when the latest value is set the line skews back to 0. I don't want this shown, I just want it left blank. On excel you can change the zeros to na() and the line graph will not plot, however, if I leave them as na() in the source data, the whole
column wont be imported in the chart wizard.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Andy

It's true -- the RangeBar chart type only has two field options (X and Y) while the RangeColumn correctly has an addtional Y field. The RangeBar chart should obviously have two X fields if it's supposed to plot a range, as the name and example image indicate.
Neither this thread or the one linked has led to an answer. Can this be fixed?

  • Combining multiple plot data into a single graph.

This is my current data structure:
1D array of...  (contains 6 plots, each with their own x and y arrays)
    A cluster of two elements
    1D array of I32
    1D array of DBL
    A cluster of two elements
2D array of DBL  (y points for multiple plots)
1D array of I32  (x points for the multiple plots)
I need to combine these into something suitable for throwing at an XY-Graph.  This operation will need to be done three times (for three different graphs), where only the 2D array of DBL is different for each graph (all three 2D arrays are located in the same cluster along with the shared 1D array).  What is the best way of doing this?
The 1x6 array of clusters contains plots 0-5 for each graph.  Is there a way to hide these plots from the graph's legend?

Sorry - this was actually a bit wrong/incomplete.
Graph1 includes one 2D array of DBL against the 1D array of I32.
Graph2 includes elements 2-3 of the 1x6 array, and also one 2D array of DBL against the 1D array of I32.
Graph3 includes elements 4-5 of the 1x6 array, and also one 2D array of DBL against the 1D array of I32.
This is how I'm doing it at the moment, but am I missing a trick here?  Is there a better way?
As for my question about hiding any plots (on the legend) that came from the 1x6 array, is this even posible?
Either that, or is it possible to hide a graph whilst leaving its legend showing?
    Or can one show/hide a graph's label in run-time?

  • How to save data on a graph and then add new data to it

i am currently plotting data on a graph from a physical system. However when i want to add new data to the plot, the old one is replaced. I am trying to do more than one plot on the same graph, where the incoming data is at different times. I want something like Excel where i can just add a new plot to the graph. Can i save the data or freeze it onto the graph or something so that i can add a new plot and see the two at the same time?

As the other post pointed out, there are two objects in LV for plotting,
graphs and charts. If you wish to have a chart recorder that
accumulates data into one or more plot with time, you probably want a chart.
If you push a button and acquire a trace and want to add that to your
    graph, you just need to
combine it with the data you plotted before and
update the graph. It isn't the most efficient, but you can easily read
the value of the graph using a local, add another row or column or
element to your data and send it to the graph.
To directly answer your other question, no, the grah doesn't have a
functional interface for clearing, adding, or deleting plots. Instead,
you do that with the diagram nodes and give the graph the results.

  • How to generate an s-curve graph/chart in labview

I would like to generate my s-curve shape in a visible graph in a labview vi. Are there any quick/dirty vi's that can take position, accel/decel, vel and jerk value, and plot this into a time graph? Something akin Motion Assistant...
I am able to construct a trapazoid graph using basic algebra within lab view, but cannot find a good formula to compute an s-curve. I am familiar with converting the jerk value to actual counts/s^3, but from there on, I do not know how NI-Motion calculates to accel, decel and velocity times. Thanks.

    Hello,
What versions of LabVIEW and Motion Assistant are you using? Motion Assistant 1.2 exposes its API to LabVIEW and these functions can be accessed by opening LabVIEW and navigating to All Functions >> NI Measurements >> Motion >> Motion Assistant. Using these VIs, you can set up a move and use the Get Move Profile VI to obtain an array of points for the velocity profile.
Beyond this method, there is no straightforward way to obtain those datapoints.
If you have any questions about this method, please let me know.

  • How to create a Bubble Motion Graph?

The purpose is to implement a “Bubble Motion Graph” in LabVIEW similar to the Trendalyzer, Gapminder or Googles Motion Chart implementation. However, they all lack of flexibility in the first column in the data table which has to be date and they are not LabVIEW VIs.
The motion graph wanted is a scatter plot that is updated stepwise with scatter sets to display trends visualized in time.  In the VI attached there are three Y-variables (Sine, Cosine and Sinc) and one X-variable. Both colour and size should be added for each Y plot point to display more variables simultaneously.
    How to do this programmatically?
The only possibility I have found so far to change the plot size in a XY-graph is to change the line width in 6 levels. In the attached file this is affecting all Ys when active plot is set to plot 0.
    Help wanted.

    Thank you Paul.
This gives me the control of the property node.
Now the remaining question is how plot points could be controlled in more steps than six.  The size in the example code uses line width to change size which indirectly effects size.
Is there a way for true size control of the plot points. For ease of use 255 levels would be convenient.
    How is this achieved?
