How read from CD?

Hi,
I m new to swing and hope somebody can help me. I want to read from CD drive when click on a button. How can i do this ?
thanks in advance

well, the code sample i sent you, works fine. When i click on a button, this little code runs. The dialog box opens, showing directories somewhere in my C drive. The rest of the code is not relevant to what i need here, because its just a sample piece of code. (when users selects a file ,it adds name of the file to a JTextArea).
But what i need is, to show the contents of CD ROM drive when this dialog box is opened! I do not want user to select CD ROM drive from this dialog box. When dialog box opens, the contents of CDROM should be in there. I googled but could not find a way to implement what i need.
Hope you can guide me.

  • How read from the HDMI Input Port?

Pulling down the Add Media menu in my Premiere Elements 11 window, I do not see an HDMI port input.
My Dell XPS ONE PC (running Win 8.1 Pro) has an HDMI Input port.
I would like to pull audio/video off this port into Premiere Elements 11 to edit and save to a disk file.
    Any ideas on this?
    Thank you!

    AT,
    Thank you for your reply.
First to comment on DV, HDV data capture.  Yes, reading Adobe documentation I see the Premier Elements data capture works with Firewire.
For example, one Adobe document is at:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/setting-system.html
The HDMI port in this diagram is an output port on the camcorder and connects to a TV set.  That way the user can monitor the data capture in progress.
I suspect that most PC's and laptops, like the DV/HDV camcorder labeled with letter "D." in the Adobe diagram have an HDMI output port only.  The intent is to put the screen or video content out to an external TV.
Some PC's now, as does my Dell XPS, include an HDMI input port.  It is connector # 15 on the diagram for the XPS at
    ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_xps_desktop/xps-one-27-2710- aio_Setup%20Guide_en-us.pdf
To make my post brief and concise I purposely left out any detail about the input device.  I believe HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface.  I want to assume some high definition (and therefore high speed) digital data stream accompanied by a digital audio stream is coming into the PC.  Whatever HDMI supports, the HDMI hardware on the PC input port should handle.
As one example, I should be able to play a file from my DVR into the PC over the HDMI input port. This might be a saved TV show or a clip from a DV/HDV camera recording.
That's just an example. But, what I am trying to do is recover the video/audio off an old Samsung SCL901 Hi8 camcorder.  I was asked and I told my acquaintance I would try.
The camcorder interface is the legacy S-video port.  A second audio port (3.5 mm female jack) carries (as you know) only mono audio (left side in the stereo cable).
One thing to do is to play the camcorder Hi8 tape into my DVR.  The DVR has a legacy S-Video port and phono plugs for the audio right in the front panel.  Then burn a DVD.  Then put the DVD in the PC, read it into Premier Elements and edit the material.
Instead, what I'd like to do is play the tape right into the PC.  There seems to be a lot of legacy media that folks have just let sit around way too long.  And now the world has passed them by.  Enough people that apparently some companies have built converters.
I looked at this S-video to HDMI converter.
    http://www.walmart.com/ip/Composite-S-Video-and-HDMI-to-HDMI-Converter-and-Switch-w-HDMI-P AL-NTSC-Support/39457809
This is a Roku brand S-Video to HDMI converter.  It upsamples the legacy 480i to 720p or 1080p HDMI digital signal.
The Roku converter appears to get the S-Video into the PC hardware.  Then what?
It was sort of wishful thinking pulling down the “Add Media” menu tab in Premier Elements 11, wanting to read from the HDMI Input port.
Still, Adobe does magical things, so I thought I would ask in this forum.
So “Yes” to your add-on question at the end of your post.  I was thinking of capture via HDMI.  And I agree with your first impression that this is not possible.
It could be there is software available from somewhere that will dump the HDMI port on the PC directly into an AVI, MOV, Microsoft, Flash, mpeg, DVD or some other standard file format.  Then Premier Elements can open the file for further editing.
AT, I appreciate your response and comments on this project.  They have been useful guides.  Thank you so much for your time.

In the iTunes window, when I update my nano ipod, I get an error message "User ipod cannot be updated.  The disk could not be read from or written to."   How can I overcome this error message.

    Hello there dilip77707,
It sounds like you are getting this error message that your iPod cannot be read from or written to when you are trying to update your iPod Nano. I recommend the troubleshooting from the following article to help you get that resolved. Its pretty straight forward, just start at the top and work your way down as needed:
'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • How to open saved files using 'read from text file' function

Hi everyone, I am having a hard time trying to solve the this particular problem ( probably because I am a newb to lanbview ). Anyway , I am able to save the acquired waveforms by using the 'Write to text file' icon. I did manually modify the block diagram of the 'Write to text file' icon and create the correct number of connector so as to make my program work. But now I have no idea on how to modify the block diagram of the 'Read from text file' block diagram to make my program 'open' my saved waveforms. Or i do not have to modify anything from the block diagram of the 'Read from text file'? Can anyone teach/help me connect up? Do i need the build array on the "open" page?
Here are some screenshots on part of my program
let me know if you guys would need more information / screenshots thank you!

Ohmy, thanks altenbach. oh yeah i forgot about those sub VIs. will upload them now. Was rather demoralized after reading the comments and really struck me on how weak i'm at on labview really hope to get this done. But of course i have to study through and see how it works. Actually i am going to replace those 'signal generators sub vi' with ThoughtTechonology's sample code so i can obtain data waveforms real-time using Electrocardiography (ECG) ,Electromyography (EMG ) and Electroencephalography (EEG) hopefully i can find out how to connect the sample code.
( ps . cant connect it now unless my program is working otherwise labview will crash )
( p.s.s the encoder of my biofeedback trainer already acts as an DAQ so i wont need to place an DAQ assistant in my block diagram i suppose )
The sample code of ThoughtTechnology is named as attachment.ashx.vi. too bad i cant use it and present it as my project

  • HOW TO WRITE AND READ FROM A TEXT FILE???

How can I read from a text file and then display the contents in a JTextArea??????
Also how can I write the contents of a JTextArea to a text file.
Extra Question::::::: Is it possible to write records to a text file. If you have not idea what I am talking about then ignore it.
    Manny thanks,
your help is much appreciated though you don't know it!

    Do 3 things.
-- Look through the API at the java.io package.
-- Search previous posts for "read write from text file"
-- Search java.sun.com for information on the java.io package.
That should clear just about everything up. If you have more specific problems, feel free to come back and post them.

  • How can I back up the iPhoto library when iPhoto won't open and I can't simply copy the iPhoto library packet because "some of the data in the packet cannot be read from or written to"?

How can I back up the iPhoto library when iPhoto won't open and I can't simply copy the iPhoto library packet because "some of the data canny be read from or written to"?

Regarding not being able to open iPhoto.  As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Were you able to create a new library?
If so then your current library is damaged and needs to be repaired.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How do I stop Serial "VISA Read" from giving me packets instead of available bytes.

    Dear Labvillians,
    Highlight:
How do I stop serial "VISA read" from giving me packets instead of bytes?
    Background:
I have a system that serially publishes 14 byte packets on a semi-regular interval.
At busy times, the producer of these these packets queues the data, effectively producing super-packets in multiples of 14 bytes sometimes as large as 8 packets (112 bytes).
My protocol handler has been designed to processes bytes, packets or super-packets.
My application now has multiple devices and the order of message processing is critical to correct functionality.
My observation is that the VISA read waits until the end of a packet/ super-packet before passing the data to the application code. (See Plot Below)
My expectation is that VISA read should give me available bytes, and not get too smart for itself and wait for a packet.
I have observed this on PXI, Embedded PC, cFP and most recently, cRIO
I have experimented with the cRIO's Scan interface rate, which helps with reducing the packet backlog but doesn't resolve to sub-packet byte read.
I understand that one solution is to Write FPGA code to handle it and pass the bytes through R/T-FIFO, and there are some great examples on this site.
Unfortunately this doesn't help with non FPGA devices.
I have also dabbled in event based serial reads but it is diabolical on vxWorks devices.
    Any Help is appreciated

  • How do I add a txt file to read from in the following script

First thanks for the help, PS newbie.
I need to add a txt file that has the Exchange aliases listed to the below file. So if the .txt file is sitting in c:\temp\readme.txt how do I incorporate into the following script. Given, I only want the outcome to read from only the txt file.
    $mailboxes = Get-Mailbox -RecipientTypeDetails UserMailbox
    ForEach ($mailbox in $mailboxes) {
      $FilePath = "\\server\folder\" + $mailbox.PrimarySmtpAddress.Local + "@" + $mailbox.PrimarySmtpAddress.Domain + ".pst"
      New-MailboxExportRequest -mailbox $mailbox -FilePath $FilePath
    Thank you for your time.
    Chris

    Thank you -
    You're welcome.
I need to make sure that when the user from the list is exported to .pst it is named with their primary smtp address? Will the above code do so?
No, it won't. This adjustment will take that into account:
    $aliasList = Get-Content .\aliasList.txt
    foreach ($alias in $aliasList) {
    $mbx = Get-Mailbox $alias
    $filePath = "\\server\folder\$($mbx.PrimarySmtpAddress).pst"
    New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox $alias -FilePath $filePath -WhatIf

  • How to print the content in Reverse which is read from the file

i have written a program to display the content of the file using files concept. now the task is how to display it in reverse order i.e from last to first which is read from the file.

If it will all fit in memory read the file as you are doing now appending everything into a StringBuilder. Then use the reverse() method of that class to obtain your output.

I have read through some of the tutorials that you have directed me too and they are very useful, thank you. however there are still a few things that i am not clear about. I am using net beans 5.0 I have placed a text file named Results.txt into the project at the root so the program can view it.
When I use the code that you provided me with, does it matter where the file is, or will it look through everywhere on the hard drive to find a match?
This code compiles but at run time it comes up with this error

    I don't understand your question.
If you don't know how to use TreeMap why do you think a TreeMap is the correct solution for what you want to do?
If you are just asking how to use TreeMap then there are PLENTY of tutorials on the internet and the Java API provides the methods that area available.
