How real time senario goes in XI ??

Hello All,
How is the real time senario goes in XI, Is that the same as we do in ABAP like Devlopment, Testing and Production? If so how will we transfer an interface from devlopment system to testing and then to production? Can any one please give the steps in involved?
I would feel happy if get the whole details from the scratch.
Thanks in Advance,
Suma

Hi Suma,
<i>Is that the same as we do in ABAP like Devlopment, Testing and Production?</i>
Yes
<i>how will we transfer an interface from devlopment system to testing and then to production? Can any one please give the steps in involved?</i>
XI objects can be transported in two ways.
1. File based transport.
2. using CMS.
Check these weblogs for more information..
/people/sap.india5/blog/2005/11/09/xi-software-logistics-ii-overview
/people/sravya.talanki2/blog/2005/11/02/overview-of-transition-from-dev-to-qa-in-xi
For transporting XI Objects to another server, there are two ways.
1. Using CMS mechanism, I haven't worked with this.
2. Exporting SWCVs using TPZ format:
a) Goto Tools Menu->Exprot design objects->Select the SWCV
and follow the screens, your TPZ file will be available at
\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\import\
3.Copy the TPZ file into the new server folder:
\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\export\
4.Login to new Server XI IR Design
5.goto Tools->Import design objects and select the TPZ file you want to import.
Using CMS you can right click the rlevant namespace, which you want to transport and then in next screen select the required Namespace & click finished. (it may look like it is transporting the whole SWCV, but it allows you to select the required NS alone)
This allows you to transport only the appropriate namespace and not entire SWCV.
This is possible in File Based also
Cheers...

  • How Real Time Apply works while physical standby is open in Read Only mode

    Hi,
With Active data guard option, we can open physical standby DB in read only mode, while redo log are being applied. (Real Time Query)
Standby Redo log (SRL) enables Real Time Apply (with "USING CURRENT LOGFILE" clause in recover database command on standby DB)
I am interested to know, how Real Time Query works ?
What is the mechanism with allows us to open physical standby DB in read only mode while redo logs are being applied continuously ?
    Regards,
    Sujit

    Dear user7419391,
That is a new feature in Oracle Database 11g. MRP can use the real time apply in 10g but the concept here is different.
    Taken from the following document;
    http://www.ascent.co.za/documents/oracle/Oracle%20databse%2011g%20Active-Data-Guard%20datasheet.pdf
*Unique Advantages of Oracle Active Data Guard*
+Active Data Guard is an evolution of Data Guard technology, providing unique+
+performance advantages while leveraging all other enhancements included in Oracle+
+Data Guard 11g. For example, any Data Guard 11g physical standby database can+
+be easily converted to a Snapshot Standby. A Snapshot Standby is open read-write+
+and is ideally suited as a test system, able to process transactions independent of the+
+primary database. A Snapshot Standby maintains protection by continuing to receive+
+data from the production database, archiving it for later use. When tests are+
+complete, a single command discards changes made while open read-write and+
+quickly resynchronizes the standby database with the primary.+
The other link in the previous post is excellent and you really have to read it to understand the active data guard aspects.
    Regards.

  • How "real-time" is Media Server

    Hi,
I am testing a developer version of Media server. I am
    broadcasting real-time audio (not a pre-recorded file). I am
curious how fast the audio is distributed among the clients? What's
the delay value between the Media server and the clients?
On the client side I am monitoring a "liveDelay" value every
five seconds. The value keeps its value at around 0.200-0.500
seconds. Is that a real delay between the client and the server?
Sometimes this value jumps to 3.5 seconds and stays there for
a long time. My network is perfect (it's our internal network and
the latency is less than 1ms).
Is it possible to make sure that the Media server broadcasts
the audio data as fast as possible please?
    Thanks

  • Replacing main HD, how is time machine going to be affected?

I am going to have to replace my internal main HD (just failed). I was using an external HD for TM. I also made a clone of my failed HD few weeks ago (lucky). Now, once I have my new HD installed and transfer my clone back to the new HD, is time machine going to work from where it left off (before the failure) or am I going to have to reset and start fresh with TM?
    Thanks

TM should recognize the cloned drive. However, since your clone is a few weeks old I would restore your system from TM. This will give you a more recent version of your computer.
To do that, make sure TM drive is connected, start from the leopard install DVD and once past the language screen go to the Utilities menu and choose restore from TM.
Follow the instructions. Your system should be restored to the most recent TM back up and you can keep using TM as normal. I've done this a number of times on two computers and never had a problem. However, I've seen posts here by people who had some trouble with full system restore from TM. Hopefully yours will be ok. If not you always have your old clone.

  • TCP/IP Connecting with Real Time Controller

I have a host running Labview on a windows XP and a realtime embedded controller on a pxi chassis that acts as the server.  When the realtime is started it automatically goes into listen mode and listens for a connection from the host.  The host opens a connection.  After a valid connection is open the Real-Time side goes into a TCP_Read and the host can then send commands that the real time processes and sends to the FPGA on the pxi-chassis.
Now the problem I'm having is how to handle the case when a TCP connection is lost.  I can have the TCP_Read on the real-time error on a time out and then go into a listen mode but this isn't very logical because then the host will have to reconnect each time a time out occurs.  So if I make the TCP_Read timeout be infinite and if the connection is lost (let's say I unplug the ethernet cable and re-plug it back in) then I cannot recover from this and the Real-time will need to be re-booted.
I've tried to send the Real-time into listen mode if the error code is other than a timeout error (code 56) and have it go back to TCP_read mode if it is a timeout error.  But if the connection is lost by means of a physical way (such as me pulling the ethernet wire and plugging it back in) then the Real-Time never sees that the connection is invalid.  The host on the other hand can detect it bc it will get an error when it's trying to write?
    So my is:
Is there any way to prevent an infinite loop that needs a reboot and at the same time prevent the host from reconnecting every time there is a timeout?

    Hi SJeane,
I apologize for taking so long to respond, but I wanted to test this on my end.  In doing so, I realized that using the RT Reboot Controller.vi after the connection is lost does not work because the message to reboot cannot be relayed to the target without communication!  Thus, to solve this problem, we have to approach it a different way.  You mentioned that you tried programmatically clearing errors, but did you try to reestablish connection after clearing the errors?  I tested this on my end with a FieldPoint controller, and the attached VIs resumed operation even after unplugging/replugging the Ethernet cable (no reboot).  Will this solution work for you?

  • 3D Real-time Visualization

    Hello everyone.
I'm working on a program that will produce dynamic data (in the form of vectors
or coordinates) that I would like to be used on a plot.
My readings produce continuous data that is used to plot a flexible tubular
shape in various positions. The details are, I think, not necessary to be said
here. As a simple example, imagine that I have an array of data listing X, Y, Z
data. I would like to have this data plotted as a tubular shape, along with a
specified diameter. I've come across "3D Picture Control", but before
venturing off to learn this package, I thought I would ask whether this is
really possible in LV, and, if not, how I should go about doing this.
In one of the documents talking about 3D Picture Control, they said that their
software is good for simulating an aircraft's wing from strain gauge readings
-- this is actually very similar to what I want to do. But I remain uncertain
as to whether this is exactly what I need.
Please offer any help that you can.
    -Alex

    Agree, 3d graph.
I did this using the 3-d graph to analyze pipes as they come of the end of the line.
Real-time is going be dependent on how efficient your code is and its CPU agraphic capabilities. If possible keep your data sets small.

  • How come you can not use more than 126GB of a 1.5TB diskdrive with LabVIEW Real Time?

How come you can not use more than 126GB of a 1.5TB diskdrive with LabVIEW Real Time?
This is only 8.3% of the available disk drive space!
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/E7E2F5657B6026358625750B007201A6?OpenDocument
National Instrument's solution is either reformat you drive to less than 126GB or replace the drive with one less than that size.
Please NI, tell me you are going to fix your LabVIEW Real Time soon, and that we won't have to wait for LabVIEW RT 9.2.1 in 2011 for this one to be fixed.
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/90/Hard_drive_capacity_over_time.svg
Drives as large as 126GB or more have been around since about mid 2002.  That's about 7 Years now and LabVIEW Real Time STILL can't use drives larger that 126GB!  Please NI.  Do something.
We deserve fixes to the old versions of LabVIEW RT.  How about updates to LabVIEW RT.  Such as 7.0.2, 7.1.2, 7.6.2, 8.0.2, 8.2.2, 8.6.2.
We don't need new features or versions of LabVIEW RT such as 9.0 until we have some of bugs fixed in the existing versions.

The RealTime OS is an NI Product that is purchased from NI.

Yes, 126GB is some space.  I see that there are now 2TB drives available.  126GB would be 6.3% of a new 2TB drive.  Should we all be happy with being able to use 6.3% of the available drive space.  Moore's Law seams to be alive and well.  Drives larger than 126GB have been readily available for 5 or 6 Years.  This should not be a surprise to NI.  Why don't they do something about it.
Thanks for the trivia on Bill Gates.  I must have missed that one since I don't try to keep up with Microsoft.  I believe that he is a wonderful person and he and his family are doing wonders for the world in their "retirement".   The world needs more like him.
What I do remember is Steve Jobs telling us that we would never need more that 128MB and that we would never to need to do anymore software development because everything was already in the "ToolBox".

  • How to make 1D Array but with only one element filled in Real Time

    Hi folks,
here I am with another question. I want to implement an prediction discrete state space observer which is going to run on a CRIO real time target. I am going to do it just like in the example which comes with LV.
I have some questions regarding the input and outputs which in the example those are "dummy".
My model is a SISO model, but the function "Construct SS model" returns parameters (A,B,C,D Matrices) as 2D arrays, so once you connect the cluster model into the Discrete Observer model, it takes y and u as 1D arrays despite of the fact that there is a SISO model.
I realized that the function I am using in the simulations, uses 1D arrays but with only one element filled:
Does anyone knows how to implement such 1D arrays in Real Time? I guess the way to do it is preallocating one array of zeros of size 1, and then recirculating it through some SR, and replacing the element with my real input and output, but at the dummy.vi, they are using a simple "build array"
    function.

Ok, I did it that way. But I am facing another problem right now...
At some point the Discrete Observer return a NAN array, you will see the code in the code snippet?
I get rid of that component by component, but the observer gets "stuck" in it. So my Control law is zero... but the state stimate is NAN.
Also I am attaching the VI.
I do not know why, since in the simulation program all runs well. any thoughts? Maybe the internal numeric precision of the State Space Model?

  • How to get the real-time data from a CCD camera in labview?

How may I do this using Labview?
    Thank you very much.
    Kai

We don't have special powers, so we can't guess if you have Imaq Vision or not, if your camera comes with a LabVIEW driver, if it has an USB interface, or firewire, or a dedicated NI card, if you just want to detect a move, or a change in intensity, etc...
So, try to be more specific with your question, that will helps a lot

  • How can I make the x axis real time?

I would like to know how to make the X axis of a chart/Graph into realtime so that I can go in increments of seconds or milliseconds. How can I do this? I am getting some really funny stuff on my graphs and I notice the manual says that the "Time" label is just a default label. So I would like to know how to get the "real" time on my axis. Do you have any good ecamples?
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Zvezdana,
I don't have LV 7, (I have 6.1) so that executable didn't come in. Also with what you mentioned won't I just get the time and date in seconds? what I want to get is the data ploted for the amount of time that the VI is running or that my Kodak Imaging board has been programmed to cycle within. I am going to attach some of the stuff I have been getting, I don't know if it is REAL TIME ,which I want, or if it is not.

  • How do I generate a compiled app with a user interface running real-time?

    Hi everyone,
I've developed a simple application that uses a PXI chassis to run.  It toggles some discretes and does some simple things, but it doesn't really have any "real-time" requirements.  We're just using the PXI chassis because we have it and we need the discrete I/O.
My question is this - how can I convert this application to a compiled real-time app and yet maintain the front panel on the local PC.  LabView appears to simply do this for me.  I am connected to the real-time target via ethernet.  When I compiled the program, it puts it in the target's startup directory, but how do I run the front panel from the local PC?
    Thanks,
