How RMAN job progresses

is it a way to know how RMAN job progresses when it is doing :

If the rman job is in fact a Scheduler jobs (appears in the dba_scheduler_jobs view) then you can create a second event-based job that runs after the rman job (and set the raise_events attribute for the rman job).

How do I cancel a rman job from command line?

I am having some problems with a rman job that is running via OEM-GC. I get an error message regading the SPFILE and control file being locked due to another job accessing it. I found this in the RMAN ref guide:
To determine which job is holding the conflicting enqueue:
1. After you see the first RMAN-08512: waiting for snapshot controlfile enqueue message, start a new SQL*Plus session on the target database:
% sqlplus sys/sys_pwd@prod1
2. Execute the following query to determine which job is causing the wait:
SELECT s.sid, username AS "User", program, module, action, logon_time "Logon", l.*
FROM v$session s, v$enqueue_lock l
WHERE l.sid = s.sid and l.type = 'CF' AND l.id1 = 0 and l.id2 = 2;
You should see output similar to the following (the output in this example has been truncated):
SID User Program Module Action Logon

Solution
After you have determined which job is creating the enqueue, you can do one of the following:
* Wait until the job creating the enqueue completes
* Cancel the current job and restart it once the job creating the enqueue completes
* Cancel the job creating the enqueue
So with this in mind; How do I cancel the job from RMAN command line!!!

Thanks. I can change the forwarding settings in Gmail to be either POP or IMAP. That is quite simple. I just looked at those settings on the Gmail server and, to my surprise, both are enabled. In order for outlook client on my computer to receive IMAP emails I have to change the email account settings in my current outlook from POP to IMAP. I don't need to be using the Exchange version of Outlook to receive IMAP. I guess I'll do a little research tomorrow on Exchange so i can figure out what, if anything, it might do for me.
I glanced at the link you sent me and it looks like it might be very helpful - another project for tomorrow.
BTW: I hit "This Solved my Question" by accident. I meant only to "like' your response so you would get some benefit from the help you've given me so far. I hope I haven't discouraged others from taking a shot at helping me. I suspect there is more than one way to approach this and, as you know, my problem isn't really solved until I have what I need all set up and running smoothly.

I have received an requirement to setup job progress monitoring in JSM(job schedule monitor).i have done my search in Google for configuration guide, but i could not find it.
My Requirement:- i need to monitor the jobs progress(running on manage system) which consists on nearly 10 setps.End user need to monitoring the job progress using PI diagram.
Guys if any one of you have done this setup please help me with configuration setps.

I use ProgressMonitorInputStream class but it can not work well. It appear and read file record by record and store in table of database but its progress dont move and do nothing. How many jobs we can define with DBMS_SCHEDULER maximum?

We have created a program which helps us to make trend analysis. It extracts tables which we want and calculate the variance between that tables. We do that extraction jobs by using DBMS_SCHEDULER package.
I would like to learn that how many jobs i can define using DBMS_SCHEDULER package.

I don't think there is a limit for number of defined jobs , but there is a limit of 1000 jobs ( slave processes ) to run concurently.

RMAN job very slow

Oracle 9i, patch set_04,two node fail safe cluster.
I have set up, with OEM, a RMAN job in order to backup the databaase of approx 20GB.
I use RMAN with a recovery catalog.
The job run for about 4 minutes, so very good performance I think.
Now something change and the job run for about 27 minutes, the db is always the same and the job is still succesfull.
What can you suggest in order to come bak to the previous perfomance?
Where do I hava to investigate?

Now the problem is that the processing takes few seconds to fetch data from database according to where condition. For the time being I want to display a progress bar to user.
How it is possible....?
