How take snapshot of the screen and save it as jpg

Dear Friends,
I need to take some snapshot of the screen but i want to move with the mouse a square and then resize the square to define the area to take snapshots .... i would like to take a snapshot for example every second or less and saved as jpg with a name x and then replace the x with the next snapshot ... x.jpg (always) ...
How can i start ...what classes can i use , please help me ...

Java 1.3 introduces a class java.awt.Robot, which includes a method

Java Advanced Imaging is downloadable for Java 1.3, or included in Java 1.4, and includes codecs for reading and writing images to and from files in various formats, including jpeg... there should be examples in the download.
The part where you may find trouble is drawing a rectangle with the mouse to define the area to take snapshots - you cannot track the mouse outside the area of your application, so cannot draw an area to capture unless it is entirely within your application Frames/Windows. It may be possible to create a fullscreen transparent window to track the mouse, but this will interfere with the operation of the desktop while it is displayed... which may be desirable to be able to draw the capture area.

Hi Atrec,
If you don't need your old custom template, save your changes with the same template name. It will tell you that this template exists and will ask you Replace? Say yes (if you do want to replace the old with the new!)
To delete unwanted templates, go to Finder > Menu > Go and press the option key. Your Library will show in the Go Menu. Navigate to Library > Application Support > iWork > Numbers > Templates > My Templates.
Delete any unwanted template by dragging it to the Trash or click on it then command-delete.
Having gone to all that trouble to find My Templates folder, right click (or control click) on it and Make Alias. Drag the Alias to any convenient place for a quick way to get back to that folder.

The Welcome to Thunderbird takes up half the screen, and I can't delete it.

Since that notice popped up, it takes up the bottom half of the screen, and I can't find a way to delete it. Sometimes when I open Thunderbird, the Welcome message isn't there, but one of my regular emails takes up the bottom half of the screen instead. I want to go back to a basic list of emails and only read the ones I click on.

If that is the Thunderbird start page, you can disable that from Preferences/Options > General by unchecking the box under "Thunderbird Start Page".

I have seen videos of people using their isigght camera to record their screen and a video of them is in the shape of a square on top of a corner of the screen.

I'm not certain I know what you want to do, but consider these ideas:
(1) If you have seen a video of people doing it, the people who made the video surely know how. Ask them if you can.

(3) The easiest way I was able to record my screen and simultaneous video of me in a window in the top corner of my display was to use two webcams. I used QuickTimeX to make a screen recording while I used my built-in iSight to show me moving in my Photo Booth window on the display.

Capturing Screen and save it as JPG

I'm making an exe with flash that will go on CD and what I
need is to capture the screen so the user can save the image and
send it by email. I've seen that you can capture an image using php
but my project will go on CD. Is it possible or I should explain
the user how to printScreen on Windows...

If you just want to capture what is on the entire Flash stage
then you can use the Bitmap class in Flash 8. If you are trying to
capture items outside of Flash then the answer is no, unless you
find a third-party tool to use.

Recently Yahoo Groups has gone to identifying all photos with a link. I used to be able to drag the photo to my desktop as a jpg and putin IPhoto. Now, it only lets me drag the link to the photo on the page. Is there a way to capture the image as a jpg? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are ready to switch off, put to standby/sleep mode you laptop by pressing alt-F3-F4 or through menu, then I recommend you set in power options "when I close the lid-do nothing". In that case closing the lid will switch off the screen for downloading time.

First of all, are you using the OS native screen capture?
If not, make sure the application you're using has been update for Lion. I was using Snapz Pro for years, but I need to update it for use with Lion. Meanwhile Grab and the keyboard shortcuts are working on my Lion load.
If you are using the native capture mode unsuccessfully, I would run the Disk Utility and repair permissions on the drive. For some reason, even in past OS Versions, routine maintenance of permissions makes life a lot easier.

The Firefox [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Page+Zoom Page Zoom] feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox, as with some other browsers.

Definitlely have it looked at. That could be a hardware deffect on the maker(apple) so there could be a definite replacement option.

When I use Firefox to access Facebook the font is tiny and only takes up half the screen. Everyother website is normal and This doesnt happen using any other browser, ie: Internet Explorer. How do I change the size to be regular?

Happens only on facebook. How do I adjust the font and image size to normal like every other web page?

The page may have been zoomed out, with Facebook on display try resetting page zoom by using the keyboard shortcut Control+0 (zero)

How can I do to acquire and save date in the same time and in the same file when I run continual my VI without interruption.

I've attached a VI that I am using to acquire amplitude from Spectrum analyzerse. I tried to connect amplitude ouput to the VI Write Characters To File.vi and Write to Spreadsheet File.vi. Unfortunately when I run continual this VI without interruption, labview ask me many time to enter a new file name to save a new value.
So, How can I do to aquire and save date in the same time and in the same file when I run continual my VI for example during 10 min.

Your VI does work perfectly. Unfortunately this not what I want to do. I've made error in my last comment. I am so sorry for this.
So I explain to you again what I want to do exactly. I want to acquire amplitude along road by my vehicle. I want to use wheel signal coming from vehicle to measure distance along road. Then I acquire 1 amplitude each 60 inches from spectrum analyzer.
I acquire from PC parallel port a coded wheel signal coming from vehicle (each period of the signal corresponds to 12 Inches). Figure attached shows the numeric signal coming from vehicle, and the corresponding values “120” and “88” that I can read from In Port vi.
So I want to acquire 1 time amplitude from spectrum analyser each 5
period of the signal that I am acquiring from parallel port.
So fist I have to find how can I count the number of period from reading the values “120” and “88” that I am acquiring from In Port (I don’t know the way to count a number of period from reading values “120” and “88”).
Here is a new algorithm.
1) i=0 (counter: number of period)
2) I read value from In Port
3) If I acquire a period
i= i+1 (another period)
4) If i is multiple of 5 (If I read 5 period)
acquire 1 time amplitude and write to the same
file this amplitude and the corresponding distance
Distance = 12*i). Remember each period of signal
Corresponds to 12 Inches).i has to take these
values: 5,10,15,20,25,35,40,45,50,55,60............
5) Back to 2 if not stop.
