How to Acces an EJB from a portal

I have a problem. I can't access EJB's from the portal.
I downloaded the tutorial "How to Access an EJB from a Portal component". The result was the following error
Can someone tell my how to access EJB's from a portal component. It is not needed to do this all in one EAR.
One PAR and a other EAR is also fine.
I use the WAS 6.4 SP9

  • How to call session EJB from EP service in EP 7.0?

    Hi,
    I am trying to invoke stateless session EJB from my portal service. Both the service and EJB are deployed on the same server which is EP 7.0.
    I found [this|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/42/9ddcc9bb211d72e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm] in SAP help and tried to implement it (added PrivateSharingReference to portalapp.xml and implemented the code), but everytime I try to lookup the session bean and cast it using P4ObjectBroker.narrow() method, I get java.lang.ClassCastException. The object found in JNDI and my portal service have different classloaders, so I suppose this is the problem, but I don't know how to handle it...
    Can anyone please help me?

  • How to trigger BPM Process from SRM Portal

    Hello Experts,
    I'am new to BPM and NWDS 7.3 but experienced with Abap and NWDS 7.0 Development...
    Before posting, i have been through the forum and couldn't find exact answer to my case..
    Basicly what i need to do is to trigger BPM Processes on the BPM Server from SRM Portal Server, I'm aware that i can communicate between these servers with WSDL basicly but how am i going to call the BPM Process' Web Service from Standart SRM  Processes?
    These processes will be standart ones mostly and also i am new to SRM.
    Kindest Regards,

    SAP SRM 7.0 user interface is developed in WebDynpro and runs on NetWeaver Portal (Portal was optional component in earlier versions of SRM but it is mandatory component now). So in order to call BPM Webservice (i.e., to trigger a BPM Process) from NetWeaver Portal / SRM 7.0 you can do the following
    - Develop a custom application (using EJBs,etc) to call the BPM web service by creating a web service proxy client using NWDS and then deploying it on Portal Server.
    - Directly create a model in WebDynpro project by using the WSDL of BPM trigger webservice (using NWDS). You can then call the model in WD User Interface, which in turn will invoke the BPM web service and start the process.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can we call Tcode from the Portal?

    Senario:
    2 BAPI’s are developed:
    1. The information say... ABC is stored into the table from the portal using the Create BAPI.

    The ABC information change will be done either through the Tcode in ECC or through the EP.

    I am very very new to EP field so please help...

    Hi Jignesh,
    If you have already performed these steps and are able to see the iview that you have created. Then I think your issue has been sorted out.
    To explain it to you in detail.
    Let us suppose, you have created a SAP Transactional iview to access the TCODE-SE38.
    Now, as soon as the user clicks on the iview, it will authenticate by asking for the username and password for the backend system...if your SSO is not in place.
    Now, if your asking me how to make the iview visible.
    You can add assign this SAP transactional iview to a page,a workset or a role and add the corresponding page, workset or role to the user in USER ADMINISTARTION by making it an entry point.
    Or to make the iview as an entry point, right click on the iview that you have created and open the properties, then for the option that says entry point choose yes.
    I guess that answers your question.
    Let me know if you have need any further clarifications on the same.

  • How can I call EJB from JSP/Servlets in iWS?

    Hi!!
    My JSP/Servlets are on iWS, and I deploy EJB on iAS.
    In this case, I don't know how JSP/Servlet call EJb on iAS.
    I'd like to know how I can set JNDI name in JSP/Servlet on iWS.
    I will thank you if you give me a simple example source using JSP/Servlet
    and EJB.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Park,
    Why Are you running your JSP/Servlets in iWS instead of iAS? For whatever
    reason,
    look at the Converter sample from iAS. You will be doing RMI/IIOP in this
    case and the sample explains in detail what to do.

  • How to run .EXE files from Linux Portal page?

    We have an IIS web server that runs a Photoshow_player.exe slide show program. I'm not sure if this can run from Linux Portal, but we are trying.
    The link in an IIS web page looks like this:
    <a> href="file:///\\mulsrv22\share\PCS\PhotoshowPlayer.exe" title="clean slate">clean slate</a>
    Portal is installed and running from two Linux servers. If I create a link using the above syntax, I get "can not display page" browser errors.
    I copied the entire PCS directory from the Windoz box to a Portal web_dav folder, but running the .EXE link from that Portal page gives errors indicating that the /PDS/data/.XML and /PCS/data/.jpg files can not be found.
    Any ideas on how I can run this slide show from Linux Portal?
    Thanks.

    if you just need to run a slideshow in you portal, why don't you use a javascript slide show ?
    Just "googleize" and you'll find tons of javascripts taht can do that.

  • How to move UME data from one portal to another

    I have two portal system ,one is the runtime system ,another is a backup system.
    Is there have a method can synchronize the UME from one to another ?
    I know we can export the user's information to format text document using the user management in the portal ,but there is a limitation about the number of export user's data (1000) ,and this is a manual method ,is there have any automatical method ,such as using a command or  code ?

    I assume you have UME set to Java database? Then there's no official tool for moving users that I know of. The 1000 limit is the least of your problems! It also won't export passwords...
    Why are you not using an LDAP as the UME source? That would be my first choice and would allow easy access from multiple portals...

  • How to remove logoff button from the Portal?

    Could anyone help me to remove the logoff button from the Portal? I am using netweaver portal 7.0 Thanks!

    Hi Michael,
    Thank you for your reply!
    Can I do it through the portal or I have to do customized programming in NWDS? Could you please show me step by step in details?
    In the future the portal will be use SSO with active directory so user does not have to login/logoff. I think the session in the server will be closed after a couple of minutes. What do you think?

  • How to access an EJB from a web application deployed in the same server

    Hey All,
    I deployed an EJB named EventServerBean to Sun Application Server 9.0, and put the client side jar file (named eventserver.jar which is generated by Sun Application Server) to C:\Sun\AppServer\lib. Now, I have a web application which is a simple jave file -- lookup EventServer EJB and invoke a remote method in this EJB. However, the web application always throws an exception "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: eventserver/EventServerRemoteHome"
    Here is my java class that access the ejb:
    public class Post_Event {
        public HashMap<String, String> getEventInfo(String event_name, String site) {
            System.out.println("Post_Event, the class path: " + System.getProperty("java.class.path"));
            System.out.println("Post_Event, user.dir: " + System.getProperty("user.dir"));
            System.out.println("Post_Event, java.library.path: " + System.getProperty("java.library.path"));
            HashMap<String, String> result = null;
            EventServerRemote remote = null;
            StringTokenizer st, st2;
            // here get the event information from host
            try {
                String lookupStr = "corbaname:iiop:" + site + ":3700#ejb/EventServerBean";
                InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
                EventServerRemoteHome remoteHome = (EventServerRemoteHome) javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(initialContext.lookup(lookupStr), EventServerRemoteHome.class);
                if (remoteHome != null) {
                    remote = remoteHome.create();
            } catch (javax.naming.NamingException ne) {
                ne.printStackTrace();
                return null;
            } catch (javax.ejb.CreateException ce) {
                ce.printStackTrace();
                return null;
            } catch (java.rmi.RemoteException re) {
                re.printStackTrace();
                return null;
            } catch (java.io.IOException ioe) {
                ioe.printStackTrace();
                return null;
            System.out.println("look up remote event server successfully.");
         result = remote.getEvent(event_name);
            return result;
        } I output the class path in this java file, and the class path DOES include the path C:\Sun\AppServer\lib where eventserver\EventServerRemoteHome.class is.
    Does anyone know why it happens? Why a java class can't find a class that is in its class path?
    appreciate any help!

    Thank you for your great topic.
    I think you need to copy the snippet code and past it to every application, applet, servlet or JSP every time you need to use your EJB.
    Its better to include this snippet code in a simple JavaBean and use this bean as a bridge to your EJB, you may include a connect method in your JavaBean or but the connection code in the constructor and include a setters, getters and other methods to encapsulate your EJB methods.
    You can use your JavaBean in any application, applet, servlet or JSP just create an object form it and call its methods.
    Its just an idea
    I hope it will be useful.

  • In a single program how to lookup different EJB from different application

    Hi,
    I have deployed two applications app1 and app2 on oc4j.
    There is a stateless session bean in a1 called ejb1.
    And there is also a stateless session bean ejb2 in app2.
    I write a test jsp in app1 to lookup ejb1 and ejb2 as an application client. So I need to create an application-client.xml for it.
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE application-client PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD J2EE Application Client 1.2//EN" "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/application-client_1_2.dtd">
    <application-client>
    <display-name>ejbs</display-name>
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>ejb1</ejb-ref-name>
    <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>class_of_ejb1Home</home>
    <remote>class_of_ejb1</remote>
    </ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>ejb2</ejb-ref-name>
    <ejb-ref-type>ejb2</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>class_of_ejb2Home</home>
    <remote>class_of_ejb2</remote>
    </ejb-ref>
    </application-client>
    However, When I run the test.jsp, It will report following error:
    javax.naming.NamingException: Error reading application-client descriptor: No location specified and no suitable instance of the type 'class_of_ejb2' found for the ejb-ref ejb2
    In fact, if I only lookup any of the ejb and the application-client.xml just specify only the according ejb-ref, everything is alright.
    But how to construct the application-client.xml so that it can suitable for 2 different ejb in different application? Do I miss something in doing it?
    Kindly advice!
    Queeny Tang

    Hi Debabrata Panda,
    I did add parent in web.xml, but it still encounter
    "Error reading application-client descriptor: No location specified and no suitable instance of the type 'class_of_ejb2' found for the ejb-ref ejb2"
    In my program, a jsp in app2 will lookup ejb1 of app1. In the same way, a jsp in app1 will lookup ejb2 of app2.
    if I declare in server.xml
    <application name="app2" path="../applications/app2.ear" parent="app1" auto-start="true" />
    <application name="app1" path="../applications/app1.ear" parent="app2" auto-start="true" />
    That will cause error reading application-client.xml for all
    ejbs.
    How to solve this.
    Thanks in advance!
    Yours Queeny

    } catch ( Exception e ) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    return null;
    }//EJB1LogBean ends
    Here as you can see, EJB1LogBean(session bean) is calling a second EJB, EJB2LogBean (entity bean). TestVal is a sample value object passed. It is plain java class and can vary from app to app and it has got nothing to do with ejbs.
    "java:comp/env/ejb" is a J2EE standard and while getting a home interface, you have to append the home interface class name to "java:comp/env/ejb". Here I am passing "java:comp/env/ejb/EJB2LogHome" and "1" to getHome method, whose job is to get a reference to a home interface. getHome method is a local method. "1" is passed just to give a flexibility to getHome method as you can have more ejbs to invoked. In that case, you can go on adding different case statements for 2, 3 etc.
    The only thing you have to keep in mind is that your deployment descriptor for EJB1LogBean will contain the entires for both the beans i.e. for EJB1LogBean and EJB2LogBean. This is because EJB2LogBean is wrapped by EJB1LogBean.
    Hope this helps.
    Please let me know if you need anything more.

  • How to access same ejb from different applications

    Hi
    I have two applications (.ear). Each application has 4 EJBs. These EJBs are same in both applications including their names. JNDI names are also same in each application.
    in detail
    ApplicationA (appA.ear) contains
    web1.war
    ejb1.jar
    ejb2.jar
    ejb3.jar
    ejb4.jar
    and
    ApplicationB (appB.ear) contains
    web2.war
    ejb1.jar
    ejb2.jar
    ejb3.jar
    ejb4.jar
    both web1.war and web2.war has same JNDI references to these EJBs.
    The problem:
    If you access the applicationA, works fine. But if you access applicationB, it throws ClassCast Exception
    After restarting.....
    If you access the applicationB, works fine. But if you access applicationA, it throws ClassCast Exception
    Both the applications are not working same time.
    I suspect that It is because both applications have same ejbs and with same JNDI names.
    Please validate.
    Thanks
