How to add actionscript to a movie symbol
I am a complete newbie to actionscript and flash. I am using
Flash CS3 with Mac OSX.
I need to know how to add actionscript to a movie symbol?
I made a circle and coverted it into movie symbol. After
selecting it and opening Windows > Actions, it says that the
currect selection can not have actions applied to it.
I have also tried ticking the Export for actionscript option
and leaving the default options on, but still no use.
can someone please help me?
ticking Export for actionscript isnt doing anything for you,
thats to attach a movie from the library... click your movie clip
symbol, in the properties panel, click where it says 'Instance
Name', and give it a unique name, lets say, my_mc. then in an
actions layer, ON A KEYFRAME, add this
my_mc.onRelease
or
my_mc.onRollOver
or
my_mc.onRollOut
and so on, but that's how you reference the movie clip... by
its instance name

How to add Actionscript cuepoints in the latest version?
I can't figure out how to add Actionscript cuepoints...I see some documentation from November 2009 online but it doesn't match the OSMF docs online for Sprint 10.
I seem to be able to add a cuepoint by writing:

I'm not getting any trace message at 1 second into the video?Okay, there is some things about the CuePoint Sample that don't quite make sense to me.
When I try to add markers to the dynamicTimelineMetadata, I keep getting "null" when I trace the dynamicTimelineMetadata.
For this event:
MediaElementEvent.METADATA_ADD
Is that triggered when a marker is added to the dynamicTimeLineMetaData?
Because if the dynamicTimelineMetadata is returning null,
then how can I add a marker to it? -
How to Add Still Photo for Movie Trailer?
I can't get iMovie '11 to see any of my iPhoto still pictures to add to a Movie Trailer. How can I do this? The photo icon is gray.
The Trailers don't accept stills, as they are designed to work only with video clips. However, a workaround is to convert the Trailer to a normal project (File>Convert to Project). Then you can edit the project like any other. A downside though is that any modifications you make may cause the music and images to go out of sync. The video and music could end up finishing at different times. You may therefore have to add your own music, lessening the impact of the predesigned theme. NOTE: Before converting, Duplicate the Trailer first, then convert the duplicate. To duplicate, right-click on the Project name in the Project Library then select Duplicate Project.
You could create a project containing just the stills you want to use in the Trailer. Export the project at full size, then re-import to an iMovie Event. That will effectively create a movie from the stills which should then be available for the Trailers. I haven't tested this but assume it will work, given that the stills have now been converted to video.
PS. I just tested the procedure described in my last paragraph above. It works perfectly. In fact you can use the Ken Burns effect on the photos before exporting, creating movement on the stills, which works great with the Trailers!

Right-click an item, find its location, copy it as well as the other content near it to another computer, and then drag that instance of it into the open iTunes window.

IMovie 11 - How to add still photos to movie trailers
How do I get still images into my iMovie trailer (themed)? I can't seem to get them into the events tray. The project tray is filled with the trailer in process (can't pull them from there either). Import function just wants to pull video clips.

As a new user of an Macbook, and iMovie, I cannot figure out how to add texts to my movies. I do understand that I can add titles, but that doesn't allow me to change positions nor allows me to edit the font in the extent that I want to.
Naturally I browsed the web, and the only conclusion I can draw is that it is not possible (yet) to add plain texts to your movie. Is this correct?
If this is the case, do you use some other programs to circumvent this limitation in iMovie?

Content and Backgrounds
Titles
Tranistions
This is also known as the content libary
Click on titles and they should appear, it works for me. -

I have a stage that has some movie symbols, and they are
controlled by actionscript 2.
so when you click on the small movie it will load text
content in an area lower on the stage.
works fine....
so how do I duplicate this movie so it will do the same thing
and be clickable.
I select duplicate symbol and give it a different name, and I
drag it onto the stage, but the move does not allow me to click on
it. It seems it has the same settings as the original and also in
the script (i created the same code that worked for the source
movie, that should work with the new one, ie changing variable
names)
is there something I am missing?

Rose110caYou need to ues the text tool from the toolbox. Simply click it and put it on a location you would like to create a text layer. Once created you can use the selection tool to move it around.

How to add more drop zones or movies in an idvd menu
I was building a dvd in idvd and ran out of drop zones to fill but I couldn't figure out how to add more drop zones.
I tried different templates but I could find none that had more than 12 drop zones.
Then I was adding movies to the main menu and idvd refused to allow more movies added when I reached 10 movies. It said that the template did not accept more movies.
I tried a few other templates and could not get it to accept more.
I don't want to add submenus because the movies being used do not lend themselves to being put into different submenus.
Is there some way to add more than the default drop zones in an idvd template and to add more movies in a menu without having to use submenus?

You need to figure out how to work with what is available.
If you want more freedom, buy Apple's Final Cut Studio and learn to use DVD Studio Pro. -

I believe what you want to do is possible, but it will not be
easy. If you want to add a scroll bar that will scroll the graph
back and forth but keep the axis set, you would want to add a
horizontal or vertical scrollbar. Then you would create an event
handler for the scroll event. You would have to manually plot
different data within this scroll event. Unfortunately, there is
not really a built in way to do this with the Measurement Studio plot
control.

Thanks in advance!I also just tried an experiment. With the movie file on the desktop, begin to drag it across to the playlist area of the iTunes window. Hold the Option key while dragging. The file will copy in place, without adding itself to the Media folder.
I like to drag to the Playlist area because it is immediately accessible. I'm sure if you drag to the upper portion it will still get in there. But then you have to find it to work on it. -
