How to add components in java studio creator (htmLib)

Hi,
I'd like to add htmLib.jar into the palette of Java Studio Creator or at least into my project. Does anyone know of a tutorial or know how to do this? In particular, I need help in adding htmLib into my project: http://jsftutorials.net/htmLib/

To add jar files :
From the main menu, Tools > Library Manager.
In the Library Manager dialog box, click New Library.
In the New Library dialog box, enter the library name.
Choose the library type and click OK.
Click Add JAR File/Folder to browse for and add JAR files to the library reference.
Click OK.
In the Projects window, right-click the Libraries node and choose Add Library.
In the Add Library dialog box, select the library reference.
Click Add Library.

How to control margin size between components in Java Studio Creator 2?

Hi,
a website layout with hard-coded coordinates (x,y) for component positions cannot adapt to the size of the user's browser window. Therefore, I use a kind of flow layout instead, consisting of components that are grouped in nested GridPanels (without any hard-coded coordinates).
This works pretty well, but the layout looks a little jammed, i.e. each text box or button is immediately followed by the next element (vertically). Therefore, I'd like to introduce some whitespace / increase the margins between the elements. However, all solutions I came up with are not really applicable:
1. Using the CSS Margin and / or Padding properties shifts the text of e.g. "Static Text" components by the selected number of pixels (which is good), but it does not shift the components further below (which is bad). Hence the text will frequently overlap with the text of the following component.
2. I can solve the overlap problem by increasing the height of the the component, but this has to be done separately for each component and fails if the number of words in a "Static Text" field is dynamic.
3. I did not find a way to specify in the CSS or elsewhere that a "Static Text" component should be 10 px + its "natural size" (i.e. height required to display all lines of a multi-line "Static Text"), which would also solve the problem.
Ideas and suggestions are highly appreciated!

How to do internationalization with Sun Java Studio Creator?

Hi everybody,
the Sun Java Studio Creator seems to be a great peace of software ;-) Currently I'm trying to design some forms for a hello-world-test-project. My question now is: how can I realize internationalization with property-bundles? I already managed it to create my own bundles, I set up a few locales (de, en, fr) and put in some "SayHello" Variables. But how can I associate my locale-variables in the .propertie-files with the value- or text-attributes of the UI-Components using the form designer?

I created some locale-properties. Put a
<f:loadBundle basename="mypackage.mainlocales" var="messages"/>directly under the "<f:view>"-Tag as it is descriped in the manual.

I'd like to know how I can increase the heap size in Java Studio Creator 2.
I already tried editing creator.conf, but it doesn't seem to work...

In the servers window of creator, right-click 'Deployment Server' and choose 'View Admin Console'. A new web page comes up with the web interface to the Sun Application Server 8. Type your username and password that you configured during installation. I think default username is admin and default password either admin or adminadmin. After you're in, click 'Application Server' link in the left window, then click 'JVM Settings' tab, then click 'JVM Options' tab. Add new JVM option -Xms512m to start the server with 512MB. Find the -Xmx option and edit it to something larger, provided you have enough memory on your system.

How to avoid Java Studio Creator 2 to use the regional settings to select the language that will be used to display the IDE in a certain language?
My country settings are set to Belgium (French) but I want to have my IDE running in English.
What should I change in the defautl properties of JSC2 to avoid this behaviour?

How to Install Java Studio Creator

Hello:
I have a question regardin on how can I optimize the resources that my enterprise already have. I.e I can put an X86 Server (i mean really a server) to be an application server, however i can do It with the Java Studio Enterprise, but not on the Java Studio Creator, the question is the following.
Can I put an application server to the wole development departemen (the only have got The Java Studio Creator) so their Pc run smoother and need no RAM upgrade (actually most of the have got 256 Mb).
I Mean Put only to the PC the IDE an point the application server to another Server

Sun Java Studio Creator comes bundled with all the various components.It does not have an option for choosing the components to install .
An RFE has been filed on your behalf for choosing the required components only at the time of installation.

Unfortunately Sun Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 doesn't support 1.5 source level. But You can try to download NetBeans IDE (from http://www.netbeans.org) and there with Visual Web project You will find the same functionality as for Creator. And 1.5 source level is supported by NetBeans.

How to call Web Services with Sun Java Studio Creator?

Can someone from Sun please explain how to use the sample Web Services USWeather and GoogleSearch in Sun Java Studio Creator (no Portlet Application)?
I read the Web Service Tutorial Accessing Web Services (http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/webservices.html) and this blog entry: http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/winston?entry=code_google_search_in_no .
But the proposed solutions do not work with the services USWeather and GoogleSearch.

It seems that the MethodResultTableDataProvider does not return the response of the web service as a value field if the WSDL contains only one result element.

How to create a frame set in java studio creator ...!
I prefer to run my entire applicaion on a window which comes out as a frame set, rather open in a browser. How to do that ...! if some one knows it help me out.
Basically this is what i am trying to do.
in my web page or frame i have an list box on the left
based on the values selected in the list the information is displayed on the right which has bunch of text boxes.
through me an idea how to do this using Sun Java Studio Creator.

As of 1.0 Creator doesn't support creating HTML frames via the designer. However, it may be possible to edit the JSP source to include one by hand.

i think the best thing for you to do is to use javascript. go to jsp page of the form and find the button, as part of its attribute type onClick="window.print()"

How to get the client's IP address from within Java Studio Creator JSP/Java

Hi there.
I just started using the Java Studio Creator 2 and now I need to get hold of the client IP address - this should be part of the request, but I cannot fint the right way to get hold of that information. I want to be able to access this information from within the Java-code in a JSP/JSPF-page.
Is there a new way of doing:
request.getRemoteAddr();
This is the way I remember it from the JSP/Servlet-days...

Some Questions about Sun Java Studio Creator IDE

I am quiet new to the IDE, but I experienced some
behaviours I do not actually understand.
I hope I can get some help here.
Sun Java Studio Creator Update 9
Each time I change the font size and type using the
"Advanced" option of the IDE the font I changed correctly.
But after closing and restarting the IDE the fonts are set
back to the default undoing my changes.
Is there a way to use code completion for the jsf tags within jsps ?
I know that there are code clips for adding jsf components to the jsp,
but (coming from eclipse ide) I'd appreciate a feature like the code completion for the jsf components. If there is a way by configuring, how can that be acchieved ?
Trying to add a "taglib declaration" to the jsp e.g. "<%@taglib uri="..." prefix="..." I get the warning that the tags of the xml must be welformed.
How can I add those taglib declarations correctly ?
Using the "File System View" after each change made e.g. to a jsp the
tree collapses and I have to navigate to the tree again to find my resources.
Is this common behaviour or to be configured ?

1. The changes made to the font size and type are indeed getting reset in Creator update 9. However this behaviour is not seen in the latest version of Creator which is Creator 2 EA 2. The behaviour of the File System View was encountered in Creator update 9 as you have mentioned. Once again this behaviour was not see in the latest version Creator 2 EA 2.

Hi, i've done all described in the posts, but i
don't know how to call the servlet, using the web
browser, and more, how can i call the servlet frrom
a button action? or hyperlink?

use the SessionBean. What do you want the servlet to do that the session bean can't?
I use the sessionbean because I don't know how to receive or respond to xmlhttpreq messages directly in my sessionbean. If you just need the standard http req/resp it doesn't seem like a servlet is needed.

Can anybody give me a clue as to what I've missed? I was under the impression that Java Studio Creator had everything it needed to be able to successfully test these web services. What it looks like to me, is that the actual web service package is not deployed to the development environment. I have no idea where I would find those, if they were not pre-packaged with the software. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Are you to see the WSDL using the URL on a browser?
Check for proxy settings configured in the IDE.
