How to administer custom Desktop Channel Attributes via Admin Console?

I have a desktop channel (JSPProvider) that requires some global settings (database connect info, etc.) to be made by an administrator after deployment and before use. Is it possible to make the custom attributes show up in the administration console (Manage Domains --> myDomain --> Applications --> Desktop --> Domain Attributes --> myChannel --> Edit Channel)? Is there a HTML-Template that I can edit?
What would be the preferred way to enter such settings?

this is a little more difficult when you are using JSPProvider rather than a direct custom channel. Basically what you need to do is go into /etc/opt/SUNWips/xml and find something like iwtUserInfoProvider.xml
Copy and edit this file for you own channel and then using ipsadmin -import bring the new channel attributes and privs into the profile service. These will then show up in the admin console. If you want to be doing this sort of stuff then I would recommend write a whole new channel provider rather than use JSPProvider

Regarding adding properties to user data control, i have the following information. But i am not sure, whether it will be helpful to you.
You can add a personalise property/User mapping property into a user data control.
Drag a User data component, go to configure and click the + sign at the bottom of User parameters.
You can add any personalised properties to the user data (with valid data types and allowed values). Then can use the property in any formula.
When iView is opened in portal, the personalise property of that particular iView is used to change the property value

Hello Gurus:
Our dev team have been using pointbase db to create all objects related to our
portal app. Now we wish to export it to Oracle db. We were able to sucessfully
export objects (eg. user profile, navigation etc) created via EBCC to Orcale but
we need to know how do we do this for objects (mapping of portlets to portal page,
user etc) created via Admin console ? Thank in advance

This is a common question, and the answer usually does not make people happy.
As you pointed out, the solution for migrating EBCC data between dev-staging-production
environments is simple. The data sync mechanism handles this well. The problem
is with the data that you generated with the JSP based tools. Currently, there
is no other supported way than to replay your changes in the JSP tools in the
new environment.
That being said, it is a high priority task within BEA to provide a better solution.
Check periodically with this newsgroup or dev2dev.bea.com for news concerning
this solution.

Start managed servers via admin console

Hello,
I have installed weblogic server, created a domain, added a managed server. All working fine. Now I want to be able to start managed server through admin console.
According to this documentation (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs81/adminguide/confignodemgr.html), it should all be pre-configured for development environment. But when i try start the managed server in admin console, it says "server does not have a machine associated with it." I added a machine and assigned that machine to the managed server, now it says "the Node Manager associated with machine m1 is not reachable.".
Can someone point to instructions on how to setup this on dev environment. In one of the instructions, it is suggested to change nodemanager.properties in common\nodemanager folder. But this file doesn't exist in my environment.
All i want is to start all admin and managed server with one script or with start the admin server and able to start the managed servers via console.

Check from the console whether your node manager is reachable or not.
Console Path:
Machines -> <YOUR_MACHINE_NAME> -> Monitoring (tab) -> Node Manager Status (sub-tab) -> Status: Reachable

Once done,check the status of the node manager.
Still even after this if the node manager is not reachable
Check the node manager logs,whether you get any exceptions

How to access custom property for attribute and control in .vm file?

I have created custom properties in OPM for attribute and apply also that properties to attribute.
But if how to access that value in .vm file?
I accessed using
$attribute.getProperty("ScreenProp", "default value")
but it's not working but same is worked for screen custom property

$control.getProperties().get("PropertyName") works for custom properties on a control
If you output $control and $control.getProperties() to the html you can lookup the API for the used classes.
I can't give an example of the html because it's stripped in this forum

How to display custom names for attributes in JSP pages

I would like to use custom names for my attributes in Struts JSP table headers.
For example, if the database table named "Country" has a column CNT_ID and BC4J wizard mapped it into an Entity Object's attribute "CntId" I would like to display it as "Country ID" in my JSP table header.
Now, I suppose the place to try this is probably in DataEditComponent.jsp, DataQueryComponent.jsp etc., and probably has smthg to do with jbo:AttributeIterate, but I still can't figure how to achieve this...

It's not clear from your posting whether you've worked out how to do what you want with control hints, so just in case, here's how:
- In the navigator, select your entity object or your view object
- In the structure pane, double-click the attribute you want to edit (CntId)
- In the attribute editor, select the control hints page
- In the Label Text field, type the text you want to use for your label (Country). Click OK.

we have successfully implemented Kerberos Authentification (SPNego) in SAP Portal
but now have to fill user attribute krb5principalname in ~500 Users.
How can this be done?
Is there any possibility to do this by Database-Script or ABAP or Java-Code?
Are there any other user mass change solutions out there?

We have had a similar requirement and did a file with the following code in it.
[User]
uid=p00000001
com.sap.security.core.usermanagement:krb5principalname=************;
[User]
uid=p00000002
com.sap.security.core.usermanagement:krb5principalname=************;
[User]
uid=p00000500
com.sap.security.core.usermanagement:krb5principalname=*************;
Repeat the above block of the code for all the 500 users and put it in a note pad in the same format.
Now logon to Portal with "User Administration" role and navigate to User Administration-->Import
Click the "Overwrite Existing data" checkbox and select the notepad with all the 500 users and click "Upload".
This only takes a while and will update all the user records. Before uploading the file for all the 500 users, first test the process with 5 users and proceed accordingly.

How to create an enterprise role in WLS admin console ?

we have an ADF application developed using jdev 11.1.2.1.
we have some web pages that are assigned to the application
role: users.
the app role is mapped to the enterprise role: agt_users.
after deploying to a WLS standalone server, we were able to
login, but a http 403 error was returned.
i have tried creating a role in myrealm->global_roles->agt_users,
and have added the group/user to role.
we're still getting 403 errors.
how can we create an enterprise role, so that the pages can
be returned ?

I believe that you should look at the Forms functionality for UCM . Under Content Management - Web Form Editor will show up the editor where in you can add buttons and attach functionalities to it . With UCM 11g this is not available thus you might need to use AJAX to build the requirement .

I'm experiencing problems when attempting to deploy a WAR using WLST using the below python script. If I deploy this WAR using the Weblogic Admin Console, all works well. When I attempt the same deployment using WLST, the deployment 'appears' to work and the script shows no sign of error BUT the application does NOT show up at all in the admin console.
