How to: Blank row on report between break group

Hello,
I'm using AppExp 2.2.1.00.04. I have a report region(based on a sql query) with 5 columns, the first column is the break column. I am using the query specific column (named columns?) setting. How can I get the formatted output to have a blank row between the different sections(break groups)?
Example:
Col1 Col2 Col3 Col4 Col5
HR Smith J. dfs dfsf
Jones H. djfsj skdfjsl
SALES Green K. sdjfks jkjlkj
Smith B. jkjkj jkljl
I'm not sure if I should be looking in to a row template (never created one of those), or if this can be accomplished by using one of the fields supplied for break formatting (the "display this text before break columns")?
Thanks,
Marty

Hi, I have a working method, and I wanted to post it in case anyone was trying to do what I was.
First, I picked a column that I was selecting (but not displaying) and clicked on the Sum checkbox (the break formatting fields only work when you are also summing a column).
Next, I placed the following code in the "...display this text before break columns" field:
<tr><td colspan="5" >
Then in the next field, I placed the following(without the quotes and spaces - I added them so that it would display here):
"& nbsp ; "
Finally, in the last field (labeled "...display this text after all break columns"), I closed out the row with:
</td></tr>
The only "issue" that I noticed is that at the end of the report, I have two empty rows. I'm guessing that they are because one is intended to display the break group total, and the other to display the report total. Oh well.
Hope this helps someone out.

  • Remove blank rows in Report painter

  • Subtotal in Matrix reports at break groups - very urgent

    Hello,
    I have a matrix group with 2 break groups above.
    So I have
    Group 1
    Group 2
    G_Cross
    G_Column
    G_Row
    The wizard gave me the subtotal for Group2. I cannot figure how I can get subtotal for Group 1 which is the top break group. Please Please help.
    I also wanted to find out if there is a way to show the variable columns only once in the report and not every time the break groups kicks in?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    -Rishi

    The fact that you have a matrix further down the group hierarchy doesn't affect how you create summaries in the break groups. The wizard only gets you so far. For more advanced functionality you need to go into the data model & layout painter.
    In this case, you need to create a summary column in the "Group 1" break group. Set the source as the appropriate column and the "Reset At" property to "Group 1". To add the summary to the layout; run the wizard (since the column is already there) or manually add a field to the corresponding "Group 1" repeating frame in the layout.
    If you only want to see the break columns on the first page and not every page of the break group then set the following properties:
    PrintObjectOn: FirstPage
    BasePrintingOn: EnclosingObject
    The object will then only print on the first page that the enclosing object prints on. ie: You wont get these objects repeated if the enclosing object extends onto another page.

    Hi user,
    do you have condition on which to select the rows to be hidden?

  • Report page break not correct in browser

    Hi all
    I have 150+ reports that I am converting from 6i to 10g. These repors print correctly in 6i (client SErver) with page break at proper places. When I run the same report on web, the page breaks in the reports are converted to lines in the html output. Also the page headers appearin the middle of the page. Page break seems to be controlled by the browser and not by report. How do I make the report page break the same way as in 6i.
    any help is appreciated. We are in the middle of testing and the users will not sign off until this is resolved.

    SET
    System parameter MODE = Default
    On Report Level Property Sheet
    Under Report Escapes
    SET After Page Value =
    <table style="page-break-before: always;height=0"></table>
    Run reports as DESFORMAT=HTML
    This will resolve the Page Break issue.
    Unfortunately, printing reports from browser will generate a blank last page.
    Perhaps the command line parm BLANKPAGES=NO will work for you...
    I am told it does not work because printing is a browser issue not a reports issue...

    in mu query i can see posted values where i need blank rows as well.
    i have set number of new rows in analysis item.
    what else i should do.
    when i run my query, it gives warning that i have no columns that i can enter manually.
    Any help?
    thanks

    Hi,
    A few points that you should check:
    1) Whether all characteristics of the Aggregation level are restricted to one single value except for characteristics included in the rows;
    2) Whether all the characteristics included in the rows are displayed with the Key (with or without text);
    3) If you have a Unit characteristic in the row, it still has to be restricted to a single value in the filter.
    These are some of the typical reasons why I have encountered the same problem!

  • How to add a blank row in a report structure ?

    Hi,
    I have a report which uses a structure in both the rows and the columns. It also using cell definitions to define some cells in the report.
    What I want to do is to format the report a bit more and insert a blank line at various points in the row structure.
    Can this be done and if so how?

    Are you creating report on InfoCUbe or ODS?
    Are you aware of any characteristics for which value will never be ZERO in the Dataprovider?
    If yes, then remove the formula and create the selection with description .(dot) and restrict that characteristics by #. That would pullout space for all the KFs.

  • How to add blank rows between groups of duplicate rows?

    here is my setup

    2             a         b
    3
    4             c         d

    I came up with the following on my own.  I was just hoping there might be a fancier way to do this - like without looping -- and yes, I could/should do this in a presentation layer, but I just wanted to do this in Query Analyzer (or whatever they call
    it now -- SSMS ...) -- BTW, thanks CELKO for the suggestion about how to insert multiple rows using Values -- works great.

    Hi,
    As far as I know, if we follow your steps: Page Layout settings > Page Setup > Print title> Sheet>Rows to Repeat at Top,  we can set the row labels to every page, please see the below image:
    We can see the row labels with page layout mode, but it does not display in Print Preview. Please try to save it as PDF or print it to see the row labels with every page.

    I've just guessed that you can find a unique record (a persons account) by partitioning by the vendor_name at that point but perhaps you need other things.

  • Intermittent Blank Rows coming in BI Publisher Report output

    Hi,
    We are working on a BI Publisher report output.
    Issue
    The report sometimes creates a blank row along with the headings of the report columns. Table has multiple records and between 2 records we have a data being displayed which is optional. When this record is null, it is creating an extra space and hence creating a new page with the headers and a blank row.
    Reducing the space is one issue we have thought of. Are there any other pointers to this.
    Thanks
    Ishani

    Hi,
    I did not got the complete thing but as you told you need to remove the blank space in the report and at the same you told when a column returns null the row get displayed as blank row.
    Then can you try using the Conditional region so that when ever you find the column value as null so you can hide that row.
    Just try it i donot no if your requirement is exactly like this or what.
    Thanks.

  • Omit the final SUM row in a report using breaks

    We have a report using breaking whereby it is broken for current day, week to date and month to date. We want to use the column SUM feature so that we have a count of all records for the day, week to date and month to date.
    This works fine, however we also get a final sum row on the bottom of the report which is a sum of the month, week and day count. This is meaningless as the month includes the week which in turn includes the day - all it gives is a useless large number! :)
    Is there a way to stop this final column being displayed?
    Thanks in advance

    I have managed to remove the last row in a table using the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function() {
       $("#JK_TEST .t7standard tr:last").remove();
    </script>However, the report uses a bottom border implemented using a <TR> so I actually need to remove the second to last row. I have tried to work out how to do this but am still trying!!! Any suggestions?
    EDIT::
    DONE IT!!! :D:D :D
    Cheers for the help!
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function() {
       $("#JK_TEST .t7standard tr:last").prev($('<TR>')).remove();
    </script>Cheers!
