How to build 2 hierarchies in time dimension

Hi All
I want to know how to build 2 hierarchies in time dimension in SAPBPC 7.5 NW.
thanks

Hi nilanjan chatterjee
thanks for your feedback. please check my time dim below.
we got two financial years.
1. jan to dec ( thats my parenth1)
2. apr to mar ( thats my parenth2)
In usertime id i copied 2008 time ids for fy2009 jan sep and from oct to dec copied 2009 jan to mar time ids.

  • How to create Hierarchies for a Dimension?

    Hi,
How to create Hierarchies for a Dimension in Multidimensional Models? Could you please suggest some document provides step by step instructions to create Multidimensional Model?
    Thanks
    M Thiyagarajan

    Hi M Thiyagarajan,
connect dimension to first level and after that connect that level to another one and so on. For level - each additional outgoing connection means additional hierarchy.

  • Are we able to build hierarchies for time characterstics

Are we able to build hierarchies for time characterstics? If possible in what scenarios?

    hi chandra
go to transaction rsd1 and tick the 'with hierarchies' box, then you should be able to create a hierarchy against the characteristic in rsh1.

  • How to know on which time dimension level we are ?

    Hello,
I would like to know is there a variable or a mean to know dynamically on which time dimension level we are in order to use that in a CASE WHEN clause ?
By using a sort of aggregation tables in which one of the column contains the name of the level, I could know on which level I am but I can't use that for drill down. What I mean :
    Tab1 :
    'Year' as typelevel, year
    Tab2 :
    'Month' as typelevel, year, month
In BMM, I have made one logical table with as Source tab1 and tab2 and as columns typelevel, year and month.
tab1 has in content column the year level
tab2 has in content column the month level.
So when in Answers I retrieve
    typelevel, year
the result is : 'Year', 2008
and when I request : typelevel, year, month
    the result is : 'Month', 2008, 1
But if I want to drill from year to month in order to have :
    'Year', 2008
    and then after drill
    'Month', 2008, 1
it is impossible as a filter on typelevel='Year' is added on the month level, so it retrieves 0 columns.
If someone has an idea on how to do that it would be very great.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Supriya,
OOTB I think you can use SharePoint designer, but I would suggest  custom code to iterate to all pages, and get the lists that are associated with these pages.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/633633/sharepoint-how-can-i-find-all-the-pages-that-host-a-particular-web-part
another one would be if those lists were never used and you can check for list with empty data.
I would use Get-SPLists to get all of the lists to check for zero items.

  • Oracle Warehouse Builder 11GR2 -no time dimension wizard?

    Hi,
I am running OWB 11GR2 on top of a 11GR2 database (OEL 5.4 64 bit).
I don't have a time dimension wizard, just a normal wizard. What I do is right-click, new dimension....but no time wizard. How can I activate it?
I have installed everything several times, but no luck...
    Can anyone help, please?

    Hi
Right Johnny. This happened when we moved to the new UI, all objects can be created using the New 'gallery' style approach, not exactly intuitive for how you remember time dimensions being created but it's still all there.
    Cheers
    David

  • How to generate a Time Dimension?

    Hi,
How can you generate a Time Dimension for both fiscal and calendar year, complete with Month Ago, Quarter Ago, Year Ago, etc Attributes, and then populate with data? Is there any documentation on how to do this?
    Thanks

  • How to time dimension

How do you link a time dimension to the fact table?
If the time dimension has a sequence as the PK then
    the following columns:
    year
    month
    quarter
    day
    time
    etc..
How is the fact table connected to the time dimension if the fact table has the
primary key as a FK in the fact table?
    -Jim

    Hi Ragnar
Because a date is in fact stored as a number you don't need a surrogate key for your time dimension. You can make the primary key the date itself. Then you just join from the fact to the time dimension on the date.
Oh yes, you would need to populate the time dimension before loading the fact table. But then this is true of all star schemas. You must populate the dimensions before you populate the facts.
However, in the case of time, because it never changes over time (pardon the pun) you could load years of dates way out into the future. Then you would never have to worry about it for a while.
I have customers who are using E-Business Suite where the time dimension is fed from GL_PERIODS and BOM_CALENDAR_DATES. Because the periods are entered once per year in most cases then they only need to run the load once per year. Matrialized vieww of time work well too.
    Hope this helps

  • Time Dimension Does Not Aggregate to Q1 and Year Level

    Hi All,
Our fiscal year starts from Jul - Jun with standard quarter and year summation (no custom measure).
Now we are facing problem where the account balance in period July and August do not add up to Q1 level and Year level, BUT account balance in SEP is added to Q1 level and Year level. Same thing goes for other quarter where only Dec month can update Q2, Mar month can update Q3 and Jun month can update Q4. Other months can be submitted but they do not aggregate to its respective quarter level.
Below is the summary of the setting:
ID                   Parenth1        Year       Period     Level      TimeID          UsertimeID         MonthNum     IsBeginning
    2010.Jul         2011.Q1          2011        Jun        month      20100700      "Blank"                       1             "Blank"
    2011.Q1        2011.Total        2011        Q1         quarter    10000013                                         3
    2011.Total                              2011     Total         year         10000012                                       12
Is there any setting that needs to be done for fiscal year not like calendar year? We do not use UsertimeID and IsBeginning because we do not use custom measure (is this understanding correct?).
    Thanks a lot,
    Liam

You don't have to change the ID, you just have to change the hierachy to be how you want and to make sure isBeginningproperty is 1 for month which is starting the year Quarter and Year.
In your case if I understood correct you would like to have
    2010.JUL will have prenth 2010.Q1
    2010.AUG will have prenth 2010.Q1
    2010.SEP will have prenth 2010.Q1
    2010.OCT will have parenth 2010.Q2
    2010.Q1 will have parent 2010.Total
In this way you will have your Fisacal year with the aggregation expected.
If you need both fiscal year and Standard Year then you have to build two hierarchies into Time dimension.

  • Having issues when creating alternate hierarchy in time dimension

    Hi Everyone
I used How to guide of MS version 7.5 to build 2 hierarchies in time dimension.
    It worked in MS version.7.5
But when i copied the same dimension members to NW version the alternate hierarchy (parenth2) doesn't work.
I mentioned all the required properties for both roll ups (like parenth2,timeid,usertimeid,ISBEGINNING).
    Any idea?
    thanks

"This sounds confusing to me as to how a stored hierarchy can contain a shared member from a dynamic hierarchy"
You just need to understand how things are stored in ASO for this to make sense.
A level 0 member with no formula, even though it is in a dynamic hierarchy is still a stored member.
-- All level 0 members that do not have formulas are stored in ASO.
Upper level members are all "dynamically calculated".
-- Upper level members of dynamic hierarchies are pure dynamic.
-- Upper level members of stored hierarchies are candidates to have their values pre-aggregated and stored in a view.

  • Modifying the time Dimension in OWB10G R2

    Hello,
I've used the time-dimension wizard in OWB10G R2, but I am encountering some problems. Let me explain:
When you start with the wizard, it gives you the choice of a normal hierarchy based on year and/or quarter and/or month and/or day OR a week hierarchy, based on week and day. But I need a time dimension based on year, month, week and day. So I created a normal hierarchy time-dimension based on year, month and day and tried to alter it, by adding a week as an attribute (and level etc.).
So far no luck. I can't change the dimension, once it is created. Same for the other way around: create a weekbased hierarchy and ad month and year to it as attributes.
And now my question: Am I overlooking something? Or is it just a case of bad luck and do I have to build the time dimension myself by hand (not that much of a work, but still a pity of the wizard)? Or is there an other way around to fix this problem?
    Regards,
    Ingmar

    Ingmar,
I just read your post and I am trying to accomplish the same thing with the time dimension - can you help me or direct me to another post that can?
After I create the time dimension with the wizard, I go back in via the Object Editor and I see the check box on the Levels tab and I have checked the Calendar_Week and all the attributes pop up, so far so good, then I navigate next to the Hieararchies tab and I don't see that the Level for Calendar_Week has been added?
How to I get a time dimension that has a single hierarchy that roles up as follows:
    day ----> week ----> month -----> quarter ----->year
    thx

  • Time Dimension and database 8.1.7.3

    Hi,
I imported owb_bp project that is located in: <OWB install directory>\owb\misc\time directory into my OWB. Then i copied the standard time dimension and mapping from that project to my project. I changed the necesary things(removed day level, did reconcile inbound on a dimension in a mapping with "match by bound name" strategy) in the dimension and mapping and when i tried to deploy the mapping i got an error:
VLD-3268: A mapping can be deployed only if the database version is Oracle 9.2 or higher.
Is it true that you need Oracle 9.2 or higher for deploying this kind of time dimension. If that is so, how can i create a time dimension that is going to work with Oracle 8.1.7.3
    Thx

    Thanks for your answer Igor.
The problem is that we cant upgrade our database to 9.2, becouse our customers dont use it, so we are stuck with 8.1.7.3, which by the looks of things doesnt support a lot of things in OWB 9.04.
So I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some pointers as to how to generate data for time dimension, thats going to work on database 8.1.7.3.
Thanks you all for your time.

  • Time Dimension - holiday flag

    Hi,
Does anyone have good idea how to implement holiday_flag in time dimension?
    I wondered if I added "holiday_flag" attribute,
however, our universe is global and holiday date is different between each countries.
Some ideas has come up as below, but I don't think those are good idea.
    1. To create holiday_flag variable which is dimensioned by time and country.
    2. To create holiday_flag_XXX attribute for each country.
    3. To create holiday function which returns flag which indicates holiday or not.( to do that, kind of holiday cube would be required?)
The holiday_flag would be used to count business day or check for NAFILL.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Yukari.

Thanks for your reply. Did you use the dimension wizard of OWB to create pure relational dimensions (Not owb/oracle dimensional structures) ?
How did you work out week, financial years pieces upon using this OWB dimension wizard?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Time dimension member selection via MDX

    Hello everybody.
I'm working with SAP BW via XMLA-interface and select members of standard dimension with select expressions like this one:
    SELECT [GPTU_CA].Members DIMENSION PROPERTIES [GPTU_CA].[2CA_NAM], [GPTU_CA].[1CA_INN] ON 0 FROM [$GPTU_CA]
    where GPTU_CA is dimension.
So, I want to know how to get members of time dimension via MDX. How can I do it?

Problem solved. The method getMemberData() is what ia needed.
