How to calculate level summary  in Hierarchical tables by level

Hi ,
We all know how to present the data in hieararchical tables using CONNECT BY PRIOR and START WITH clause.
Did anybody get the sum on each level , rolling up this informations up to Top level.
Ex. Table Project_Task
(Task_id number,
Task_name varchar2(20),
Parent_task_id number,
Budget number).
Need to get report having sum(budget) on different level.
Level Task Name Total Budget
-----------------------------------------

I don't have 8.1.7 to test with anymore, but as I recall, you can create a new table from a join of your original tables, then query the new table. I believe you could also create a temporary table and insert into it, then select from that. What I am not sure about is whether 8.1.7 will allow the hierarchical subquery in the select clause or not. Please test the following and let us know. If not, then you will probably have to use PL/SQL.
scott@ORA92> -- test data:
scott@ORA92> CREATE TABLE task_id_hierarchy

scott@ORA92> CREATE TABLE budget_data

  • How can I use one hierarchical table as a node of another hierarchical tabl

    I have a requirement where I have two hierarchical tables and one table should  work as node for other table . How to achieve this??
    To elaborate more the structure is like
    Main Table (Company Structure)
    Sub table “Consolidation Groups” which has got hierarchical structure
    Sub table “Entity” which is also hierarchical.
    The Entity table should act as a node for table “Consolidation Groups”
    How can I achieve this functionality??
    Thanks
    Suvarna

    you misunderstood me apparently. I said you can't organinze to tables so one serves as a node's value of the other. Let me show you wnat I suggested by an example.
    First table has such values:
    -A
    |-B
    |-C
    and the second one is
    -x
    |-y
    |-z
    -p
    |-r
    |-s
    I thought you wanted to confine relationships between them so fo B node be able to select only x's branch and for C - only p's branch. If it's similar to the truth then let's create another table with two fields. Field one points to table containing capital letters and field two - lower case letters. Both fields are of type lookup pointing to an hierachial tables. Now when you populate this table you'll create records like (I list two columns):
    B - y
    B - z
    C - r
    C - s
    from your orinal table from now you should point to the above table. So instead of having two fields each pointing to its own table and compeling you to think how to organize two hierarchies, now you have only one field pointing to a table with all valid combinations. When you populate this table though YOU have to decide what such combinations are. It may make sense (if you have different users) to restrict access to this table on read-only level  for regular users to preserve the valid combinations.
    Hope it helps but if I understood your wrong give a concrete example.

  • How to query 2 hierarchical tables and join?

    Hi
    I've been bashing my head against a well to get this to work efficiently in 10g. I can solve the following writing some pretty horrible SQL, but can't figure out how to do it elegantly and optimally.
    We have two hierarchical tables as follows:
    select * from data_categories dac
    dac_code name parent_dac_code
    10 MANAGEMENT
    20 MEDICATION 10
    30 PROCEDURE 10
    40 SURVEY
    50 ASSESS
    60 NATURE 50
    70 OBSERVE 60
    select * from data_elements des
    des_id name parent_des_id dac_code display_seq
    100 DOSE MEDICATION 1
    110 1MG 100 1
    120 2MG 100 2
    130 3MG 100 3
    140 ROUTE MEDICATION 2
    150 ET 140 1
    160 EM 140 2
    170 RESPONSE MEDICATION 3
    180 IMPROVED 170 1
    190 NOCHANGE 170 2
    200 FILED MANAGEMENT 1
    210 INPUT OBSERVE 1
    You'll note:
    1) We have hierarchies in both tables, and a fk from data_elements to data_categories via the dac_code.
    2) The depth of both data_categories and data_elements is unlimited.
    3) There is no single root node record in either table.
    4) The appropriate PK and FK indexes exist.
    We need to write a query that returns the following results:
    root_dac_code parent_dac_code des_level des_id name display_seq
    ASSESS OBSERVE 1 210 INPUT 1
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 1 100 DOSE 1
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 110 1MG 1
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 120 2MG 2
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 130 3MG 3
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 1 140 ROUTE 1
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 150 ET 1
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 160 EM 2
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 1 170 RESPONSE 3
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 180 IMPROVED 1
    MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 190 NOCHANGE 2
    MANAGEMENT MANAGEMENT 1 200 FILED 1
    You'll also note we need to return the data in order of the root_dac_code, then parent_dac_code, followed by the display_seq.
    Does anybody know how to write this query in an elegant and optimal manner?
    Many thanks for any help!
    Cheers,
    CM.

    Flakey model.
    Why does data_elements.dac_code appear to refer to data_categories.name rather than data_categories.dac_code?
    You do not appear to be ordering by root_dac_code, parent_dac_code and display_seq (if you were MANAGEMENT/MANAGEMENT would not be at the end). Did you perhaps mean ORDER BY root_dac_code, des_id, display_seq?
    Something like this perhaps?

  • How can i calculate manually fact and dimensional table ralations?

    hi friends,
    how can i know the information dimension table >15 of fact table, how can i calculate thses percentages manually?
    regards
    suneel.

    hi Suneel,
    it's another topic, to improve query performance, we evaluate if aggregate help or not, to justify we use bw statistic or ST03N, where summarization ratio is > 10;
    the summarization ratio = number of record read from database / number of record transferred,
    we need also the other parameter 'percentage of db time', time spent on database / total query runtime.

  • How to calculate the RMS level of a signal with its spectral representation

    hi!
    how to calculate the RMS level of a signal with its spectral representation
    thanks

    1. Find the length, N, of the spectral signal.
    2. Convolve the magnitude of the signal with itself.
    3. Take the Nth element of the resulting signal
    4. Take the square root.
    5. This should be the RMS value of your signal.

  • How to calculate New customers and Returning customers in a Pivot Table?

    Hi,
    I have a Pivot table with columns as Order Date, Customer Name, Qty, Cost, Freight, Invoice, Adv Payment. I have only 30 customers and 11000 transactions for 4 years sales period.
    How to calculate New customers and Returning customers in Pivot Table for any given Month or Quarter or Year. I am open to use helper column, formula or a calculated field etc
    Thanks
    Arjun

    Hi Arjun,
    I have received the file and read it, based on your further explain, I know your requested more clarity. In my view, the requested could be done via VBA code or Select function in other dataset, like Access/SQL. (Because before we count the new
    customer and return customer, we might to filter them via rule, the formula need to assign the customer one by one. So, it's inefficient)
    Thus, I recommend we try the above workaround: Use macro or Select function in Access. If you have further question about the coding, please post to the MSDN forum for Excel

  • How to calculate the total running time for process from sysssislog entries

    Hi All,
    I have the below query which gets me the log entries form the logs table when the process started/completed.
    Select row_number() over (order by starttime) row_num,Substring( Substring(message, CharIndex('''',message) +1 ,Len(message)) ,0, CharIndex('''',Substring(message, CharIndex('''',message) +1 ,Len(message)))) as Description,

    order by starttime
    However,I have to build a report on the top of it showing how much time that attribute/dimension/heirarchy took to execute(Ex-How much time did YearlyReview dimension take to complete).I dont have much knowledge of T-SQL and unable to figure out how to calculate
    that on SQL or report level.
    Could someone please assist me in getting the exact query for that?
    Thanks a lot.

    I have Calday, Calmonth, Calyear all three objects.
    Now my question is how I can achive this? On which i need to create hierarchy?
    and how to calculate the YTD at day level.
    Note:- in the selection calyear is mandatory. User wants to display as per year.   So What infoobject I need to take in selection?
    and the way to calculate YTD on Day (in the case also ,where user doesn't give the date in selection)
    Plz reply asap its uregent !!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Amit

    Hi,
    As per my understanding I think YTD means JAN to current date result. I means say if user enter 062005 then result in YTD should be from 012005 to 062005.
    And to do this you need to write a customer exit variable where LOW field of internal table you will put JAN year and HIGH will contain month year entered by user.
    Hope this will help you.

    Iam having time blocks of 96 for 24 hrs each of  15Min.

    Hi,
    You can achieve using a counter at baselevel and use exception aggregation at query level...

  • Issue with new 'Display Summary Type in Table' Attribute

    JHeadstart Version: 10.1.3.1.26
    JDeveloper Version: 10.1.3.1
    We have configured our top level groups in our JHS Application Definition Editor to have each table's first column (Primary Key) set to 'count' for the 'Display Summary Type In Table' field level attribute.
    Our problem is that now that we have this handy counting functionality, we found that it breaks the row focus when entering data in a table-forum. To be precise, when typing in or modifying the field that contains the defined 'count' attribute, when we 'tab off' from that field the page seems to run some JavaScript (the recounting of the rows I presume) and loses the keyboard's focus from that row. This outright prevents users from tabbing to the next field to continue entering data - which is rather important for our application.
    I am presuming that this is a bug. Any ideas on how to fix it?

    Erik, Michael,
    I checked with ADF Faces development. I have a logged a bug for this against ADF Faces. Hopefully it will be solved in release 11.
    There is nothing JHeadstart can do to fix this. Wherever we have autoSubmit=true generated on an item to get AJAX-style partial page requests (LOV item, summary item, depends on item), then tabbing out the field will loose the cursor, and pressing Save immediately after entering a value in the item will not save the data.

  • How to calculate milestone percentage for final milestone (billing rule 3)

    Hi,
    Client is using percentage based milestone billing. For final milestone, billing rule is set to "3 Closing invoice in milestone billing" and milestone percentage, field FPROZ, is empty without any value.
    My aim is to calculate final milestone percentage, so it would be printed on invoice layout.
    I have suggested below logic to developer:
    "If RV60F-SFPRO field is not equal to  0,00 (zero), pass billing plan VBRP-FPLNR and item numbers VBRP-FPLTR into FPLT table to get FPLT-FPROZ"
    But developer can't find RV60F-SFPRO value anyway...
    Therefore, I have a problem - how to calculate final milestone percentage in this case?
    Could anyone provide any other logic how to calculate it?

    Percentage can't be added into final milestone in SO billing plan, field FPROZ is not editable....
    Moreover, this milestone just have billing value in SO billing plan.
    I am going to use this logic that hopefully would fix the issue:
    If invoice billing type VBRP-FKART value is XXX and billing plan rule FAREG value is 1, or 3, or 4, or 5, then milestone percentage should be calculated by following formula: milestone billing value x 100 and then divided by order net value from VBAP-NETWR.
    If invoice billing type XXX, but billing plan rule is different then, no milestone percentage is not printed. This logic is valid for header and item level billing.

  • Hierarchical Table Commands in MDM API

    Hi,
    I found only RetrieveLimitedHierTreeCommand,RetrieveLimitedHierChildrenCommand in MDM API for hierarchical tables.
    So how can we add a child or a sibling, delete a child or sibling to the nodes of the tree.
    Can anyone please give me links or some documentation on how to proceed with this.
    The other problem we are facing when retrieving the children using RetrieveLimitedHierTreeCommand
    When we add a search on the command it does not retrieve the children. it says the children for the level one node are null but if i donto set search it retrieves the children for all the nodes.
    Is there any specific setting that has to be done for using the search.
    Please let me know
    Thanks,
    Padmaja

    Hi Greg,
    I am adding the code snippet below. Can you please look into this and check if there are any problems
    RetrieveLimitedHierTreeCommand hr=new RetrieveLimitedHierTreeCommand(conAccessor);
    Search ser=new Search(repoSchemacmd.getRepositorySchema().getTable("New_Code").getId());
    FieldId fldId =repoSchemacmd.getRepositorySchema().getTableSchema("New_Code").getField("New_Code").getId();
    StringValue fldVal = new StringValue("G0440");
    ser.addSearchItem(new FieldSearchDimension(fldId),new TextSearchConstraint(fldVal.getString(),TextSearchConstraint.EQUALS));
    hr.setSearch(ser);
    ResultDefinition rd=new ResultDefinition(repoSchemacmd.getRepositorySchema().getTable("New_Code").getId());
    rd.setSelectFields(repoSchemacmd.getRepositorySchema().getTableSchema("New_Code").getFieldIds());
    hr.setResultDefinition(rd);
    hr.setSession(userSessionID);
    try {
         hr.execute();
    } catch (CommandException e) {
        e.printStackTrace();
    When i execute this part of code and get the children. i get the children as null.
    Thanks,
    Padmaja

  • How to load master data and hierarchies from R/3 systems

    HI all,
    how to load master data and hierarchies from R/3 systems.
    Please explain the steps.
    Thanks,
    cheta.

    HI,
    Its normally done following: Transferring the master datasources in RSA5 to RSA6 and then replicating the DS into BW and assignment of DS to Infosource and cretaion of Infopackage and load it into the master tables.
    Generally, the control parameters for data transfer from a source system are maintained in extractor
    customizing. In extractor customizing, you can access the corresponding source system in the source
    system tree of the SAP BW Administrator Workbench by using the context menu.
    To display or change the settings for data transfer at source system level, choose Business
    Information Warehouse → General Settings → Maintaining Control Parameters for Data Transfer.
    Note: The values for the data transfer are not hard limitations. It depends on the DataSource if these
    limits can be followed.
    In the SAP BW Scheduler, you can determine the control parameters for data transfer for individual
    DataSources. You can determine the size of the data packet, the number of parallel processes for
    data transfer and the frequency with which the status IDocs are sent, for every possible update
    method for a DataSource.
    To do so, choose Scheduler → DataSource → Default Settings for Data transfer.
    In this way you can, for example, update transaction data in larger data packets in the PSA. If you
    want to update master data in dialog mode, smaller packets ensure faster processing.
    Hope this info helps.
    Thanks,Ramoji.

  • How to calculate commodity code  using Tabe MARC and field STAWN.

    Hi All,
    how to calculate commodity code
    This attribute is stored at the Material/Plant level.  For each material, this attribute must be evaluated at all applicable plants.
    u2022     If ALL values are the same, output the value to the report
    u2022     If all values are NOT the same, output u201CNot Consistentu201D in the column for the material
    The table to be used is MARC
    and the SAP technical field name is STAWN

    Hi Debrup,
    try this ... i have put down code here ... test it and make changes as needed.
    data:
    t_marc type standard table of marc with header line,
    lv_matnr like marc-matnr,
    lv_same type c.
    select MATNR WERKS STAWN
    from MARC
    into corresponding fields of table t_marc.
    sort t_marc by matnr werks stawn.
    loop at t_marc.
    at new matnr.
    clear lv_same.
    lv_matnr = t_marc-matnr.
    endat.
    at new stwan.
    * material is same but STWAN changed so flag change
    if lv_matnr = t_marc-matnr.
    lv_same = 'F'. " False.
    endif.
    endat.
    at end of matnr.
    if lv_same is intial.
    write : t_marc-matnr,t_marc-stwan.
    else.
    write : t_marc-matnr, 'Not Consistent'.
    endif.
    endat.
    endloop.
    hope this helps.
