To call just this method from another class you'll have to make it static:
static public void updateData(GeometryUpdater updater)
}This way you can call it from another class this way:
className.updateData(updater);

As of Java1.4, you can no longer import classes from the default package (no package declared) into classes that are packaged.
All Tomcat classes are in packages, including the compiled JSP.
Therefore: Your classes need to be in a package inorder to be imported and used by the JSP.
Why the problem? If you know it works with packages, why try not to use them?

If ur requirement is to call classes then use this declaration to call classes.
DATA: <ANY USER DEFINED NAME> TYPE REF TO <ACTUAL CLASS NAME U WANT TO REFER>.

How to call class os functions defined in share/vm/runtime/os.hpp?

HI. I haven't coded in C for some time, and no experience with JNI
I dabbled a bit in JNI and creating native functions.
I would like to know, how can I call Java VM os functions from my own libraries without much hassle? e.g. os::javaTimeMillis(), or os::active_processor_count() ?

Could I create a custom header file copy-pasting parts from os.hpp to make some functions known?
And I don't want to java-call the native java methods that mapped to these os functions, but call C functions directly.

Two parts
1. How do you write C code.
2. How do you use JNI to interface between java and C code.
1 is independent from 2 but 2 requires 1 because you can't do it if you don't know how to write C code.
If you want to do JNI then you start by writing C code and debugging the C code. No JNI at all in that process.
After you complete that then you write wrappers around the C code which are JNI.
JNI code tends to make Java unstable because bugs in JNI code will cause the VM to crash. So it is often better to find an executable that does what one wants and then use Java Runtime.exec to manage that executable. That is going to be true even if one is writing the executable (like in C.)
To learn C you should start with a C site.

Hi Smita,
you just need to create an object of that class,thats it. Then you will be able to execute each and every method.
e.g.
you have developed A.java and B.java, both are in same package.
in implementaion of B.java
class B
            A obj = new A();
             //to access A's methods
             A.method();
            // to access A's variable
            //either
           A.variable= value.
           //or
           A.setvariable() or A.getvariable()

How to call a method in private section of a class in the public section

i have written a method(meth1) in the private section of a class(C1).
it is as follows
class C1 definition.
private section.
methods: meth1 importing im_dt1 like tp1
                                         im_dt2 like tp2
                                         im_dt3 like tp3
                                         im_dt4 like tp4
                           returning value(re_dt1) like tp5.
endclass.
i have the final data that has to be displayed in internal table re_dt1.
now my question is how to call this method present in private section into public section and display the data present in re_dt1.

what you need is one public method being called at start-of-selection. Within this the private methods have to be called.
The question is, why has the method for reading the database tables to be private? If you have only one private method reading all database tables the public method being called at start-of-selection will only consist of a call-method statement.
This seems to be one call to much.
The logic for reading the different database tables is hidden inside the class anyway.
Is there any further logic reading the different database tables?
Have always all table to be read? If not another approach would be one private method for each database table being called by a public method deciding which table has to be read:

How to call a method from a separate class using IBAction

I can't work out how to call a method form an external class with IBAction.
//This Works 1
-(void)addCard:(MyiCards *)card{

I have tried tons of stuff here, but nothing is working. When i build this I get no errors or warnings, but trying to call the method in anyway other that what is there, i get errors.

Can you explain more about what you are trying to do? IBAction is just a 'hint' to Interface Builder. It's just a void method return. And it's unclear what method is where from your code snippet below. is addNewCard: in another class? And if so, does it have a reference to the 'card' object you are sending the 'insertNewCardIntoDatabase' message? Some more details would help.

you MUST have a reference to the other class or MIDlet in the current MIDlet ...
i think that i have answered to these kind of questions a few month ago.. you should use the 'search' engine to find the topic..

GOT IT !!!
I had to change the name of the method in .h file generated by javah command. On doing
javac -d ../../classes HelloWorld.java
go to the ../../classes directory (where you have the class file) and do
javah HelloWorld
I got a HelloWorld.h file in which I had
JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_HelloWorld_display(JNIEnv *, jobject);
I added the package name too:
JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_GUI_HelloWorld_display(JNIEnv *, jobject);
The HelloWorldImp.c file should have the same name (ie with package) and be in the same directory(ie ../../classes)
compile and build the shared library to get "libhello.so" file
gcc -c -fPIC -I/usr/lib/j2sdk1.3/include -I/usr/lib/j2sdk1.3/include/linux HelloWorldImp.c
gives .o file
gcc -shared -o libhello.so HelloWorldImp.o
gives .so file
then run java with the command in my first message. It works.

I am developing a web application which uses weblogic portlets and struts. This is what I have for now in the .portlet file.

I want it to change something like this:

How to call a method of another class ?

I�d like to know how to call a method of another class. I have to classes (class 1 and class 2), class 1 instantiates an object of class 2 and executes the rest of the method. Later, class 1 has to call a method of class 2, sending a message to do something in the object... Does anybody know how to do that ? Do I have to use interface ? Could you please help me ?

import your singleton class to your JSP using page directive.
And also import Vector class.
Then as usual create object to vector class
Vector v = singletonClassObject.getAllFactory()

How to call a class that extends a frame from a panel ?
I am trying to create an application say "Videoshow"
Videoshow has a panel which in turn consists of 2 components : 1]a textarea( to show the contents of a page) and 2] a mediaclip(to show the video).
Now I have an application "MediaApplication"(to show the videoclip) which extends Frame (Code from Java 2 Unleashed, Chap 21). I want to show this MediaApplication in Component 2 of the above panel. But when I do this, I only see the MediaApplication frame instead of the whole SlideShow.
I want to do something likethis.

im not familiar with the code you mention from Java 2 Unleashed, but your best bet is to read up on Swing a bit - so you get an idea of how Swing containers and components work - then im sure you'll find a solution to your problems. Then if you encounter any difficulties whilst your attempting to do that, post your code in the Swing forum and im sure someone will help you.

How to call java class from pl/sql procedure ?

Hello everyone,
My query is..
There is one pl/sql stored procedure which is doing some business logic and storing data in some columns of one table, suppose the table name is 'ABC' .. and the rest of columns of table ABC are getting updated using java class. Now my problem is whenever I insert data in ABC using store proc.. i have to call that java class so that it will update the rest columns ( why java class for updating the columns in ABC is ..because that logic cant be done from pl/sql proc.. it has to be done using java )
and the other thing is.. oracle is in one machine and java is in another .. :(

but that updation have to be done from java code only.. we are using GIS tools .. have to create some shape files and update the column with that shape file.. so creation of shape file has to be done from java code only..
