How to capture MediaCapture video preview stream without CaptureElement?

Hi!
I'm using Windows Runtime in my non-metro class library and I need to get a video preview stream from MediaCapture class. I can't use CaptureElement - actually, I can't use any XAML at all, I just need a stream that I'll be able to parse from WPF app or
whatever else.
I found a method called StartPreviewToCustomSinkAsync, but I'm not familiar with Media Platform and I can't spend much time in diving deep into it. So please, could anyone help me with this?
I know I can use CapturePhotoToStreamAsync method but it's not the best idea I think.

This is no longer true. You can now create an "uncompressed" video encodeing profile.

How to tell whether video preview is working?

An app shows video preview with code essentially the same as in
the MSDN document:

It works most of the time. However, sometimes the video does not show. When this happens, myCaptureElement.ActualWidth and myCaptureElement.ActualHeight still return the correct values. This probably means at least something is working. In this case, how can
the code tell what my eyes can see - the video is not showing?

Based on my knowledge, your problem may related to the dispose of the MediaCapture object. Forget to dispose it when app suspends will result in a negative user experience for your app.
About your question, I’ve not seen such property in MediaCapture class, so it’s recommend to create a Boolean that indicate whether the app is currently previewing video. You need to maintain this object when start or stop preview. You can find more information

How to download youtube videos to ipad without using a computer??? Looking to download some videos people created using Dr. Jean music. My kid used Dr. Jean in preschool and wanted to keep singing them at home.
Looking for a friend that doesn't use a computer. I myself have downloaded some kids educational stuff and added to itunes and then put on ipod/ipad using firefox.
Is there an easy way, so they don't go to the photo roll??

There are some Apps you can use, but be careful they will only download these videos inside the App, so you won't ba able to play them in your video app or share them.
Most popular is the app called "Video Download" but there are a lot of alternatives for free and even with more quality which you can pay for.

How get all photos from photo streams without iPhoto

Hi to make A long story short, I lost a Hard Drive with iPhoto on it... Including all my baby's pics ... However I can still see them in the photo streams on my idevices.. First off without that Mac how can just grab all the photos off photo stream without iPhoto?
Secondly, if I can install iPhoto on another machine or drive will that help or hurt me? Will all the photos show up under my Apple ID and can I just copy them or am I running any risk of deleting the streams?
Is my only option to copy photos from photo stream a few at a time? And does that not repush them back up to the stream and erase older photos?

Yes I know I am a complete idiot for not backing up or using online backup service...

If you create a new library on another Mac, set its Photo Stream preferences to
and log into your iCloud account on that Mac and enable Photo Stream, the Photo Stream photos will automatically be imported into the new library. It can take a while depending on how many photos are in the stream.
When you're done log out of your iCloud account and copy the library to a flash drive or DVD (if small enought) till you get your new drive.

How to capture DV video with Date in Premiere CS5?

I'm running Premiere CS5 on a Mac (Lion osx 10.7), and for the first time want to transfer a bunch of DV tapes I have recorded over the years. The camera I am using for the transfer is a Panasonic PV-GS250. I would like to be able to transfer over the original date/timecode information in each individual clip so I know when the scene was shot.
Is this possible? I've tried reading through the docs and searched the web, but can't seem to figure out if/how to do this. And/or how to even view that metadata information from within Premiere.
If Premiere is unable to accomplish this, is there a better software that will allow me to capture the video like this?

Since CS4 (I think...or CS5...) there is the option to display the shot date.
On the bin window click it's context menu button (the upper right one) and choose Metadata display... then choose under Dynamic Media->Shot Date.
If this doesn work with your files, then try the Basic->Date Created choice under metadata too.
This will display on your bin the date of the shooting. It works perfectly with dv tapes captured via firewire. Please note that if the tapes being captured are dubbed tapes, they should be dubbed via firewire too, to maintain metadata. Any other way the metadata will be lost.

But I could not find a better place to ask
i want to capture live video (i have avchd camcoder vixia hfs 21) to my laptop and stream it in the same time with the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder
i read about the Black magic Solution like the Intensity Shuttle, with good price, but i understand that this machine good for cupture but dont work well with the FMLE.
Does anyone have a solution for me that can fit a laptop too.

How can I move videos to computer without syncing

Can anyone suggest how I can move video clips to my computer from the playbook which will not sync now that I have update the lastest software. They are too big to send in an email. When I tried to upload them to a youtube account, the file was rejected because the name looked like VD 000164.mp4. In edit mode in the video file I have the vast array of editting options: delete or cancel. I cannot change the name as it is uploading.. Any way to salvage this as a video camera?

I don't want to use third party applications for downloading videos because they make so many troubles as slow downs and disconnections. The Activity tab in safari is disabled. Is there any way to download videos by safari without third party apps?

It doesn't seem that I have access to these functions from my version. I came with a partial solution to this problem which consist to use a theshold on a color and eclude the possibility to have a grey pixel (R~G~B).
Now, the problem I have is to calculate the centroide that I believed could be easy to identify as the point the closest to all the others (point with minimal distance to the ovther points of the cloud). Unfortunately, the calculation of all these distances takes for ever when processed with multiple loop. Is there any fast function to calculate the center of a could? That will be to replace the script in the VI attached here.
Here are the VIs and a JPEG to illustrate the issue. The goal is to find the center of the red star.
You can compare the conditions
(1) Threshold for red=40 ; threshol grey filter=0.75; grey filter = off;
to
(2) Threshold for red=40 ; threshol grey filter=0.75; grey filter = on;
to
(3) Threshold for red=99 ; threshol grey filter=0.75; grey filter = off;
(2) & (3) give good detection showing that excluding the grey condition is worthy....
but the position of the center identified in the star is not idealy located .... any idea to improve this with a low computing cost would be verymuch appreciated! I'd like to have this system quick enough to work during the video capture (on line).

How can I capture a video clip streaming on VLC?

I need to get a capture of a video that is playing in VLC. The video streams fine on my monitor but when I use Captivate to capture it all I get is a black screen. I am using Captivate 4 and using VLC 0.8.6i.
I have tried the Automatic Recoring and Full Motion Recording and neither work. Both of these work fine if I try to capture using a different video player but I need to use VLC becuase I get better quality.
Any suggestions?

Likely you will need to capture using a different tool than Captivate. Then you might save in a format Captivate understands (such as FLV or SWF) then insert that into Captivate.

Any ideas on how to make my video preview work?

We have installed Premiere Pro CS4 on some brand new HP Compaq dc7900 machines (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/au/en/sm/WF06a/12454-12454-64287-3328898-3328898-3785403.ht ml) that supposedly use the Intel GMA 4500 integrated graphics chip. The problem is, that we cannot play any captured or imported video (sounds do play though), all we get is this funny turquoise screen. However, if I click in the preview window while stopped, the frame does show as it should.
I have spent some time searching for this and I realize I'm not the only one experiencing this problem but I have yet to see a solution that works, at least on my system.
The Intel Graphics chip only supports OpenGL 1.4 (see hp link), not 2.0 as the CS4 requirements states.
Well, I could be mistaken already at this point, but I am under the impression that the OpenGL 2.0 only comes into play when playing certain effects, not just playing video on the timeline. Intel has also said that 2.0 support is included in the "new" driver for Q43/Q45 (http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/quick-reference-guide-to-intel-integrated-graphic s/) My current driver is from September 09, and I have also tried drivers from April and March without any luck.
The weird thing about this, is that when I disable the Q43/Q45 driver under device manager and restart my PC (with a blurry image in too low resolution), the video in Premiere plays back like there is no tomorrow! Everything runs just fine! (Except that I have to sit 3 metres from the screen to actually see anything)
The "Other devices" is most likely something to do with the 1394-card we put in. It does work as is though. Enabling/disabling the other video adapters shown does not change anything around our issue.
I can't understand what is making this problem, but it does sound a lot like a driver issue. For good measure I have included a screenshot from GSpot:

There are some low-profile slots though 1 of them are occupied by the firewire card: 1 low-profile PCI, 2 low-profile PCI Express x16, 1 low-profile PCI Express x1
We actually purchased 13 of these computers for video editing, so I really hope it is possible to fix this without buying 13 low-profile graphics adapters. What gets to me is the fact that it does work when I disable the driver. (!) Shold therefore be doable to make a driver/update that works :-(
Any ideas? Or, in worst case, anyone know about a low-profile graphics card that works?

Hi, I have a problem with RTPExport output video files. One side streams H263/RTP(AVTransmit2.java) and other write this steam to a file by RTPExport.java. When network conditions are ideal, output video file has same fps and same number of frames like original file. Problem occures, when theres packet lost in network, then output file has different fps,and also has less frames like original video(because it didnt write missing frames to file, and thats why it get shorter). Pls how can I achieve output file that will have the same fps like original one? How to write to file an identical copy of what I can see while receiveing video with AVReceive2.java? Its there a way to modifi rtpexport or avreceiver to do this? Thanks!

HOW TO CAPTURE DIGITAL VIDEO CLIPS, OPTIONALY WITH WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER

I want to capture video clips and save them on disk, when a certain event occurs.If possible I prefer to do it with labview only. Optionaly to execute a record command on windows movie maker, save with arbitrary file name, and go back to standby mode for the next clip.

Do you have a camera along with the IMAQ hardware? Then, the easiest way is probably using the IMAQ VIs to acquire frames and create avi files out of them. There is some example code on how to grab images using the imaq hardware.

Generating the avi files is fairly straightforward once you know how to acquire images. Lookup the help on the "IMAQ AVI" VIs.
If you have a camera hooked up through USB, you can try the documentation on the following link. I have never used labview with usb cameras though.
