How To Check File A records in File B

Question

Hi All,
There are two Tables A and B
A has only one column(consist of 100 records) and B Has 70 coloumns.
I want to check all records of A(1 to 100 records) into B columns (1 to 50 columns) and also count how many records are present in first record of B.

Here's one way to do that:
SELECT       a.col_1
,       COUNT (*)     AS matching_rows
FROM                 a
LEFT OUTER JOIN      b  ON  a.col_1      IN (b.col_1, b.col_2, ...,  b.col_50)
;This seems like a very bad, unnormalized table design. If if makes sense to compare a.col_1 to multiple columns in b, then it probably doesn't make sense to have all those columns on 1 row. Instead, you should have up to 50 separate rows, each, perhaps, with a column containing the number (1 to 50) of the column in your present design.
and also count how many records are present in first record of B.When you say "record", do you mean "row"?
What does it mean for a row to be present in another row?
Whenever you have a problem, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables, and also post the results you want from that data. Simplify the data if possible. For example, if table b really has 50 columns, post an example where it only has 3 or 4. If you make it clear that your real table has 50 columns, you'll get an answer that can easily be changed to work on 50 columns (if it needs any changes at all).
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using.
