How to check for java version in unix?
hi,can anyone tell me how to find the java versionin AIX unix?
In addition to Annie's answer: if you mean to get it in your code, then do this:
String version = System.getProperty("java.version");
System.out.println("Java version: "+version);

How to check the JDK version of a compiled java file
can anybody tell me how to check the JDK version of a compiled java file ?
Edited by: gbhatia8 on Sep 9, 2010 7:04 AMThe major/minor version of the class file is the way to go.
Also, it's not necessary to write a separate program to get to those. javap prints them out when being passed the -v flag.
Note, however that "JDK version" is not a correct term, as I can create 1.4-compatible class files with a Java 6 JDK (by passing the -target flag to javac). Those won't look any different than .class files written with a 1.4 JDK. -
I just want to know how I can change the settings to check for newer versions of stored pages in Firefox.
There is a hidden preference that controls when Firefox checks for a newer version. # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference '''browser.cache.check_doc_frequency''', double-click on it to change its value
For details on the possible values of his preference see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.cache.check_doc_frequency -
I need the firefox equivalent of Internet Explorer's (v8) "check for newer versions of stored pages under Tools, Internet Options, Browsing history. I cannot find where this would be in firefox and have an application that depends on seeing a "fresh" copy of a page each time it's served up by the web. Please advise.
You can find the tools under the Comments menu.

How to install 64bit java version
Dear All,
I need config jvm memory greater than 2G because "Account Analyst Report" issue.
If I must need to install JAVA version 64bit, how can I do it?
Platform is: Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Current Java version is:
java -version
java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 17.0-b16, mixed mode)
Please Help!!
Thanks,
JackieHey, Guys,
Thanks for your information.
Customer's information:
EBS version: 12.1.3
Platform: Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
The instance was fine, after run pre-clone scripts, then OPP service can not start up.
I tried these notes and doesn't work.
At first, customer's error message is:
"Invalid maximum heap size: -Xmx5120m
The specified size exceeds the maximum representable size.
Could not create the Java virtual machine."
Then, I let customer set to 2G, 3G and 4G. Also doesn't help.
I checked customer's context file:
See following information:
<oafm_jvm_start_options oa_var="s_oafm_jvm_start_options">-server -verbose:gc -Xmx256M -Xms64M -XX:MaxPermSize=128M -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+UseTLAB -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -Djava.security.policy=$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/oacore/config/java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dhttp.webdir.enable=false -Doracle.security.jazn.config=/AP/crp2/inst/apps/CRP2_m4000/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/oafm/config/jazn.xml</oafm_jvm_start_options>
<oafm_jvm_stop_options oa_var="s_oafm_jvm_stop_options">-server -verbose:gc -Xmx256M -Xms64M -XX:MaxPermSize=128M -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+UseTLAB -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -Djava.security.policy=$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/oacore/config/java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dhttp.webdir.enable=false</oafm_jvm_stop_options>
The max is 256M, min is 64M, then I let customer to increase the value, run autoconfig, but also doesn't help.
Another engineer said customer should install 64bit java version on 64bit platform. His comments is:
Please check the java version.
The 32bit Java version can only address 2GB memory which in reality is 1500M for VM Heap Space.
If customer needs more than 1500M VM Heap space, then they need to install the 64bit Java version.
And customer run command:
java -versionoutput is:
java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 17.0-b16, mixed mode)
Then engineer provide solution:
update FND_CP_SERVICES
set DEVELOPER_PARAMETERS = 'J:oracle.apps.fnd.cp.gsf.GSMServiceController:-mx1024m'
where SERVICE_ID = (select MANAGER_TYPE from FND_CONCURRENT_QUEUES
where CONCURRENT_QUEUE_NAME = 'FNDCPOPP');
and commit.
But customer need config jvm memory greater than 2G because "Account Analyst Report" issue.
If I must need to install JVM 64bit, how can I do it?
Our EBS version is 12.1.3
That's the whole process.
Please HELP!!!
Thanks,

How do I delete java version 1.6.0_37? This update prevents me from running PowerTeacher Gradebook; I want to go back to 1.6.0_35. Thanks
arnab wrote:
I wanted to know if you are asking for the html version or you want the html itself. ..I want you to post the complete, (but short & validated) HTML used to test this applet, directly into the thread - with code tags. I'm really not sure what you mean by the HTML 'version'. The only thing I can associate with that is HTML Spec. 3.2, 4.01, 5.0 etc., but I cannot see how it relates to anything I mentioned (and in any case, the 'version' should be obvious from the copy/pasted HTML).
..The website is our client website and this problem is coming during login. I won't be able to share the credentials with you. I don't want any 'credentials', but I will expect that if you are serious about solving this problem, you will set up a version of the applet at a public URL so others can see it fail if they think it will help solve the problem. Of course, what you do is up to you, because ultimately it is your problem, not ours. (I just thought I'd stress that last part to indicate to you that it is your onus to encourage people to read, experiment & answer.)
The only change I need to do to make it work is enable update 23 and disable update 24 in Java Control Panel.Have you tried searching the bug database for hits? There were some security updates in 1.6.0_24 that affected a number of things, including copy and access to the Robot. Perhaps there was a bug introduced at the same time.
..Unless I have misunderstood & what you are trying to do is somehow related to (yet) another security bug fix. ;) -
Endless Checking for Latest version
JavaWebStart works fine when used anywhere within the network. However, we we logon to the network using a dial-up connection, java webstart never seems to pass the Checking for latest version screen. This screen runs for as long as the dial up connection stays up. Has anyone seen this type of behavior? Another interestin fact is that webstart's examples run fine with our dial connection. It is slow but it works. Here is my jnlp

</jnlp>Our team ran into the same problem trying to connect to one of our test web servers, when the client ran Webstart using JRE 1.4 from behind a certain evil
Proxy Server, Webstart would get stuck in the "Checking for latest version". Note that this only happens when behind the proxy, everything runs fine with
a direct connection and users behind the proxy using JRE 1.3 also did not experience any problems. We later discovered that Webstart would complete the downloading of
updates and run our app, only it would take 40 minutes to complete (left it running overnight). The strange thing was that this problem only
occured when connecting to certain web servers of ours while there was absolutely no problem whatsover when connecting to other servers.
What we found was that when Webstart made a request (HEAD and later GET), the server would send the header/file back correctly. But we did notice
one thing. For the servers that were "working" we noticed that it would send the response and then close the connection. But for servers that
weren't working we discovered that it would send back the response but it WOULD NOT immediately close the connection. Instead the connection is
kept alive until a few minutes later.
The solution was that for web servers that were working, we had the KEEP CONNECTION ALIVE option OFF. (In the case of IIS its the Keep-Alive checkbox).
On web servers that weren't working (Webstart getting stuck checking for updates) the Keep alive option was ON. That was the problem. Once we disabled
the Keep-Alive option on all our web servers everything was fine and users behind the proxy, using webstart with jre 1.4 were once again able to
Check for Updates quickly and proceed to launch the app, whereas before it would take 40 minutes to Check for Updates and load the app because for
each request it had to wait for the connection to time out (900 seconds) before the next request could be made.
Well thats what we found in our research. We were pulling our hair over this for nearly a week. Hope this helps.
Thanks,

How to check for a function module with its description and functionality
Hi all,
How to check for a function module,with its description and its functionality,in detail how can I know the purpose of a particular function module,how to search for a function module which suits my requirement .Hi,
You can search a FM of your requirement by putting in the Key words and searching for a FM. Like * KEYWORD * and then pressing F4.
Say for example you need to search something regarding converstion.
Search for * CONVERT * and press F4.
If there is something specfic like converting date to something you can give
DATE * CONVERT *
OR
CONVERT * DATE * and press F4.
Once you narrow down your search you will have a Function module documentation inside the Function module. Please note that all the FMs willl not have documentation.

Want to know how to check for new line character in text file
Hi All,
I`m trying to read data from text file. However I`m not sure whether the data is in 1st line or nth line. Now I`m trying to read the text from the readline. But if text is "" and not NULL then my code fails. So I want to know how to check for new line character and go to next line to find the data. Please help.
Thanks
static int readandwriteFile(Logger logger,String filepath){
BufferedWriter out = null;
BufferedReader in = null;
File fr = null;
int get_count = 0;
try {
if(new File(filepath).exists())
fr= new File(filepath);
System.out.println("FileName: "+fr);
if(fr != null){
in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(fr));
String text = in.readLine();
if(text != null){
get_count = Integer.parseInt(text);
in.close();
else{
get_count = 0;
else{
out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(filepath));
out.write("0");
out.close();
} //Reading of the row count file ended.
catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
finally {
try{ if (in != null) {
in.close();
if (out != null) {
out.close();
catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
return get_count;
}You are calling the readline() only once which means you are reading only the first line from the file...
Use a loop (Do-While preferably)
do{
//your code
}while(text == "") -

SundharHi Sundhar,
According to your description, you might want to check the existence of sub folder in a folder of a library using Client Object Model.
Please take the code demo below for a try, it will check whether there is sub folder in a given folder:
public static void createSubFolder(string siteUrl, string libName, string folderServerRelativeUrl)
ClientContext clientContext = new ClientContext(siteUrl);
List list = clientContext.Web.Lists.GetByTitle(libName);
CamlQuery camlQuery = new CamlQuery();
camlQuery.ViewXml =
@"<View Scope='RecursiveAll'>
<Query>
<Where>
<Eq>
<FieldRef Name='FSObjType' />
<Value Type='Integer'>1</Value>
</Eq>
</Where>
</Query>
</View>";
//camlQuery.FolderServerRelativeUrl = "/Lib1/folder1";
camlQuery.FolderServerRelativeUrl = folderServerRelativeUrl;
ListItemCollection items = list.GetItems(camlQuery);
clientContext.Load(items);
clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
Console.WriteLine(items.Count);
if (0 == items.Count)
//create sub folder here
Best regards

How to check for updates on SCM packages?
Hey guys,
I wondered for some time now how to check for updates on SCM packages, i.e. -git
or -svn ones. Updates for binary packages are automatically updated by pacman,
no problem there. Checking for updates on non-SCM packages from the AUR is
easily done with one of the various helper tools available (personally, I use
slurpy).
However, SCM packages can change without their PKGBUILD changing, so I'm not
notified that I should recompile and update them.
Is there a "proper" way of doing this? Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance!If your system is booting then u can say that your bootblks are installed.Usually BootBlks are present in 0 & 1 slice of UFS Filesystem
/usr/platform/platform-name/lib/fs/ufs
directory where ufs boot objects reside.
An x86 FDISK partition for the Solaris software begins with a one-cylinder boot slice, which contains the partition boot program (pboot) in the first sector, the standard Solaris disk label and volume table of contents (VTOC) in the second and third sectors, and the bootblk program in the fourth and subsequent sectors. When the FDISK partition for the Solaris software is the active partition, the master boot program (mboot) reads the partition boot program in the first sector into memory and jumps to it. It in turn reads the bootblk program into memory and jumps to it. Regardless of the type of the active partition, if the drive contains multiple FDISK partitions, the user is given the opportunity to reboot another partition.
