How to check if a specific file exist and which exit code to use ?
Hi, First I'm not a scripting guy and I know almost nothing about VB scripting.
I have a deployment of 6 tasks and I want to make sure that step # 2 will not be process if it failed in step #1, and so on for the 6 task.
To do this, i have to run a vb script before installation or uninstalltion on each steps
I'm trying to use a script (not from me) that i have modified for pre-uninstallation of software and also post-installation of the software.
Pre-uninstallation: The script will look if the specified "exe" exist on the server and if so, than it will run the msiuninstall "application_name".
If the uninstallation is successful, the post-installation script will check if the "exe" file exist again on the server, and it shouldn't find it (because it was deleted from the uninstallation), than it will return an exit code of successful
to run the next process.
Here an example:
Step 1: Uninstall "Software#1" with msiuninstall Software#1.exe command
Step 2: Uninstall "Software#2" with msiuninstall Software#2.exe command
Step 3: Install "Software #3"with an .exe extension
Step 4: Re install "Software #2" with an .msi extension
Step 5: Re install "Software #1" with a .msi extension.
Step 6: Send email to confirm the deployment is successful
So i need to validate that step #2 will not process step #3 if it failled on # 2. It need to validate if the file exist before and after.
At the end, Step 6 should send an email to confirm that the 6 steps of the deployment was completed without errors.
Any idea how to do it ?
Many many thanks for all the help !
A desperate guy :)
This is what i have
'This script will look if an .exe file exist for a specific application.
'=============================================================================================
path = WScript.Arguments.Item(0)
set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
If objFSO.FileExists(C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Enterprise\EnterpriseWS\web.config) = true then
exitCode = 0
else
exitCode = 1
End If
Wscript.Quit exitCode
Since you are not a scripting guy here is a very good place to start:

Checking List of Specific Files exists in Folder
Hi all,
Please help and advice
business promises that they drop 10 Different Files with TimeStamp.
1. QHP_Group_Association_Benefit_Periods_20140117104957
2. QHP_Out_Of_Pocket_Limit_20140117110805

I have a requirement where I have to start SSIS process Only if all 10 files are available. If any file is missing Dont start any process.
Please help me How to check all files needed are available in a Folder using SSIS?
Thanks
KodiI would perform this task by using a Script Task the System.IO classes. The task would have access to an SSIS variable that was the directory path. The task would get a listing of the files in the directory. Another Boolean package variable would be set
to True if all ten file where present. A conditional expression on the workflow using this Boolean variable would control whether execution continued or not. -
Hi again
I'm using KDE 4, and I've just installed JACK again, and since I can't find any decent documentation on this, I'm having a bit of a problem.
Currently I have jack from [extra] installed, rather than jack2. When I try starting jack as the ArchWiki suggests, i.e. by typing "jackd -d alsa", I get the following error:
$ jackd -d alsa
jackd 0.120.1

I've also tried jack2 from [community], and after starting it with "jack_control start", I get this...
$ jack_control start
--- start
DBus exception: org.jackaudio.Error.Generic: Failed to start server
So how do I start it? I'm guessing jack doesn't want to start because some other KDE application grabbed alsa before jackd (but I've been wrong before), and I don't have the slightest idea what jack2 is about with that "generic" error. If anyone would help me shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it a lot.
Thanks in advance!
Last edited by Wintershade (2011-03-26 19:22:08)@schivmeister thanks that one worked
Yes, it was knotify4. So now this part works. I've switched to jack2 and it works flawlessly when starting it with jackd
So this part is solved... now, would you be so kind (if you know) as to point me to some tutorials or howtos (or proper documentation, cos I can't find much of that either) on how to connect various ALSA channels with JACK?
Basically, I want to route my PCM channel and the Mic channel into Capture 1 (or one to Capture 1 and other to Capture 2), since my Intel HDA audio card doesn't have the "Mix" or "What-U-Hear" or whatever as an available capture source. Any leads on that? (or do I have to open another thread for it?)

How do I find out what program / file is using 100 GB of space on my Hard drive? Once I find the problem how do I delete the specific files to increase GB of space?
Use OmniDiskSweeper
Once you find file, it can be deleted from within OmniDiskSweeper

Utl_file.open_file question to check if a file exists and is not empty
Hello,
I am trying to write a code where in 3 seperate files are created based on some parameter condition for the extract call.
Say the parameters are NULL, 'A' and 'B'.
When Null condition is passed to the extract call then it should create file A and B if records are found. If not it should create empty files.
It is possible that the parameter to the extract is just 'A' then it would create A with say non zero file and B with zero file.
Now when the extract is called with 'B' parameter and if the file A already exists and is not empty then I should not touch/overwrite it with empty records.
Is there any simple way that I can do this to check if a file exists and is non empty?
I am using
open_file

I've added it in the script where I need to use it. in noce big letters, hopefully its not a big job.

Search if a layersets with a specific name exist and execute a function if it is the case
Hello,
How can i write a script that search if a layersets with a specific name exist and execute a function if it is the case?
Some examples?
Many thanks.
Regards.
SebastienThis would check for a LayerSet if a name with DOM code – so it’s fairly slow.
var check = checkForLayersetNamed(app.activeDocument, false, "thisName");
alert (check);
////// function collect all layers //////
function checkForLayersetNamed (theParent, theCheck, theName) {
/* if (!allLayers) {var allLayers = new Array}
else {};*/
for (var m = theParent.layers.length - 1; m >= 0;m--) {
var theLayer = theParent.layers[m];
// apply the function to layersets;
if (theLayer.typename == "ArtLayer") {
// allLayers.push(theLayer)
else {
if (theLayer.name == theName) {theCheck = true};
theCheck = (checkForLayersetNamed(theLayer, theCheck, theName))
// allLayers.push(theLayer);
return theCheck
Below is AM code Paul Riggott posted some time ago in connection with linking Layer Masks.
Re: Automatically re-link layer masks
You could add a check for whether the Layer is a LayerSet, but if the name is the sole distinguishing feature this might work as a basis for your operations.
app.bringToFront();
main();
function main(){
if(!documents.length) return;
linkLayers();
function linkLayers(){
var ref = new ActionReference();
ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('Dcmn'), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') );
var count = executeActionGet(ref).getInteger(charIDToTypeID('NmbL')) +1;
var Names=[];
try{
activeDocument.backgroundLayer;
var i = 0; }catch(e){ var i = 1; };
for(i;i<count;i++){
if(i == 0) continue;
ref = new ActionReference();
ref.putIndex( charIDToTypeID( 'Lyr ' ), i );
var desc = executeActionGet(ref);
var layerName = desc.getString(charIDToTypeID( 'Nm ' ));
var Id = desc.getInteger(stringIDToTypeID( 'layerID' ));
if(layerName.match(/^<\/Layer group/) ) continue;
/* you could insert your operations in an if clause here */ -

,Here Test Cookie Value prints the following instead of its original String value
{JSESSIONID=javax.servlet.http.Cookie@7da288, oracle.uix=javax.servlet.http.Cookie@399f62}
I have passed employee name "Robert" to cookie in srcpage.jspx,but it prints "JSESSIONID....." instead of "Robert" in destpage.jspx
Thanks in advance
KaleeHi,
"cookie" is a reserved name. If you want to write to a session scope attribute called "cookie" then you have to call #{sessionScope.cookie}. If you want to use EL to set and read from cookies then you will have to use
#{cookie.cookieName}
Note that #{cookie} writes to and returns a map

How can I create a custom formula that checks if a PC file exists? (CR10)
Post Author: lgayosso
CA Forum: Formula
Hello,
I need to create a formula that validates whether a PC file exists or not to display a message ('File Found' or 'File not found'). I created a custom formula that displays the appropriate message based on a report field composed of the FilePath + FileNameWithExtension that works correctly if the field includes a value or not (Basic Syntax below):
If {ctDocumentImages.ImgPath} <> "" Then Formula = "File Found"Else Formula = "File not found"End If
Now I want to validate that the {ctDocumentImages.ImgPath} value corresponds to an existing file; that is, I need to check that the file specified at {ctDocumentImages.ImgPath} location truly exists to determine that the file is actually 'found'. How can I accomplish this?
Any help is greatly appreciated,

( my file connection name was CrystalReports_Reports.File Name) I have generated a report, that shows all my rpt file names, size, last updated.... etc )
Go to database expert, create new connection, select file system data, your starting directory will be
genplex\E\JEMS51_Server\Imaging\Int\2007\..... you can then report on the file names found in that directory / subdirectory, etc... When creating the link you can select all files, or just *.rpt for example
Ok, so you define more than one connection on your report to be able to access the File System Object, right? The problem is that my reports are generic and meant for distribution for customers where no generic base folder will exist. The value of the starting directoy is then unknown, FilePath+Name then can be any value.
