How to code Java client for a Java Web Service

Hi,
I have a modest knowledge on Java and new to Web Services. I have create a web service using JDeveloper as detailed at the URL http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/jdev/obe1013jdev/10131/devdepandmanagingws/devdepandmanagingws.htm
In my Web Service, I have one GetSum java class, which has a method addSum(int x, int y) and this method returns the sum of x and y. I am able to successfully test the addSum method in the web service via the end point. However, I would want to use the addSum() method of the web service in a stand alone java class. For this I have used the wsimport utility and the WSDL of the webservice, from which I have got the following java classes.
AddSum.class
AddSumResponse.class
GetSumWS.class
GetSumWS_Service.class
ObjectFactory.class
package-info.class
I have packed all the above class into a jar file.
I have tried many options provided in various websites, but am not able to get this resolved. I am pasting the WSDL for any reference

</definitions>
Can someone please provide me the code to invoke the addSum() method in a stand alone java class. I would really appreciate the help
Thanks,
Suresh

Hi,
The following is my code to invoke the addSum() web service method.
package com.FirstWS;
import com.firstws.*;
import com.firstws.GetSumWS_Service;
import com.firstws.GetSumWS;
import java.rmi.RemoteException;
public class useWS {
public static void main (String[] args) {
GetSumWS port = null;
try {
int number1 = 10;
int number2 = 20;
port = new GetSumWS_Service().getGetSumWSSoapHttpPort();
System.out.println ("Invoking addNumbers(%d, %d)\n"+ number1 + number2);
int result;
result = port.addSum(number1,number2);
System.out.printf (
"The result of adding %d and %d is %d.\n\n",
number1, number2, result);
} catch (Exception ex) {
System.out.println ("Caught Exception: %s\n"+ex);
But when I compile, I get the following error: "Error(14,20): Service not found in class com.firstws.GetSumWS_Service in class com.FirstWS.useWS"
Please let me know where I have wrong, and would appreciate if you could correct it.
Thanks,
Suresh

  • ABAP code and konfiguration for consuming secure web services

    I need some help/links on how to create an abap program (on 4.6 or WAS 620, or 640 if not possible in older releases) to consume a web service with authentication using certificates based on WS security  (<a href="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/wss">http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/wss</a>) or client certificates. The request must include attachment in DIME or base64 format (preferably DIME).
    On 4.6 I have used the FM HTTP_POST with the if_ixml interface to consume web services, but I don't know if it can handle https authentication and attachements.

  • Java web service question

    I am trying to create a java web service using the wizard in Jdeveloper, but I am not able to pick up the java class I want. I already setup the classpath and library to include the java class files. but seems the wizard doesn't look at the classpath. what's the right way to do it?
    Is there any demo or tutorial code about how to create java web service ?

    Hello again,
    I am quite surprised I got no responses to my query below.
    Can anyone explain how I might do this?
    Please feel free to respond to [email protected]
    I am looking for what I think should be a simple
    example/tutorial but so far no luck. I am using
    JDeveloper 10g 10.1.3 and the Oracle Application
    Server.
    want to do this:
    create a simple Java web service
    deploy it
    create another simple Java web service, that makes a
    call to a method on the first service
    deploy it
    client->WSfront->WSback
    want to keep this as basic as possible.
    lthough I have found examples of how to create a web
    service proxy, there are no examples that I have
    found that show how to use that proxy in another web
    service:
    I did what I thought were the right things; generated
    a proxy for the first web service, and used that
    proxy in the second web service's source Java class.
    However when I deployed and tested many classes were
    missing: all the classes the proxy class depends
    on.
    I actually managed to get something like this working
    but had to manually create the .ear and .war files
    for WSfront, explode the archives, and manually add
    the missing classes to its WEB-INF/classes.

  • Get client ip address from Web Service hosted on OAS 10.1.2

    Hi,
    Can anyone advice how to get the client IP from a web service (java) hosted on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.
    The below code works if the web service is hosted on Tomcat.
    MessageContext msgCtxt = MessageContext.getCurrentMessageContext();
    String IP = (String)msgCtxt.getProperty("REMOTE_ADDR");
    This code is causes built errors on the OAS 10.1.2 since it needs Axis and many other Jars. I tried to insert the jars needed but unfortunately when i was able to compile it returned a java.lang.NullPointerException.
    Is there a way to get the IP address of the client that calls this web service ?
    Or is there a way to read the SOAP request maybe i can retrieve the client IP from it.
    Thanks for your support,

  • The Best Java Web Services Technology for Developing Web Services

    Hi,
    I am new to Web services world.
    I read the java web services page . there are more than 6 technologies.
    JAX-WS,
    JAX-RPC,
    JAXB,
    SAAJ,
    JAXP,
    WSIT,
    XWS-Security
    I went through several documents on web services.
    I could not get a clear idea of which technolgy to use.
    Which Java web service technology will be the best to develop web services independant of language, platform.
    or is there any 3rd party implemetations available ? for rapid development of web services.

    Which Java web service technology will be the best
    to develop web services independant of language,
    platform.
    Java by nature is a cross-platform language, so if your focus is on the need for portability, the choisce of WS should not be a problem. However, each WS is best suited for paricular uses.
    SAAJ, a low-level level API, offers much simplicity, but is not the first choice for programmers, as SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)messages need to be constructed piece by piece, making it a quite arduous code to program.
    If you are not familiar with XML, your best bet would be to use JAX-RPC (Java API for XML-Remote Procedure Calls), as it hides the underlying detail from the programmer, in terms of SOAP and XML. The shortcoming with RPC-based WS is that it is "restricted to the local programming experience". Another failing is that assumes there is a network path- a reliability concern.
    If your program will be contacting other services during downtimes, unlike JAX-RPC, JAXM is quite useful. However, your listing did not mention it, so I wont cover it.
    JAXR is a client-side only API that acts as an interface between registries (not referring to JAXP)
    I am not famiiar with JAXB, JAXP, WSIT or XWS-Security..
    or is there any 3rd party implemetations available ?It depends on what platform you are used to. Assuming you are familiarized with the J2EE platform (now changed to Java EE SDK), the NetBeans IDE (either 5.5, 5.5.1 or the latest editiion) is quite useful. I am using 5.5.1, but have found that it is quite buggy, especially when adding WS operations, a core requirement of a WS. if you will be using to devlop a service for an immediate need, you may find the learning curve to be a bit high, in terms of getting to grips with how to use it. (Download link:
    http://www.netbeans.info/downloads/index.php)
    The IBM Autonomic IDE (or AIDE), based on the WSDM standard, includes 3 sub-tools, icluding the IBM Manageability Endpoint Builder which, according to their website, allows individuals to build endpoints to allow manageability interface exposure; Manageable Resource Browser and the IBM Manageability Endpoint Simulator. However, I'm not familiar with this IDE. (Download link: http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/aide/download)
    The .NET Framework uses the Visual Studio IDE. For an unbiased comparison of J2EE and the .NET Framework in terms of WS, see http://www.webservicesarchitect.com/content/articles/hanson01.asp.
    Apache Axis2, Geronimo and JiBX allows fast development of WS, or so the creators profess.
    The PHP environment- you could try NuSPHERE PHPed. According to one website, with it you can develop a web service in under an hour.
    I hope this was useful to you.

  • How to Deploy a Simple Java Web service in Oracle E Business Suite Server

    Hi,
    I have created a simple Java webservice using Jdev11g.
    I am able to Test the Webservice using Jdev11g itself.
    How Can i migrate the same to Oracle E Busienss Suite( - 9iAS ) so that webservice clients connect to 9iAS instead of my local machine
    Thanks,
    Gowtam.

    Hi Sudhakar,
    If you are used to working with ant then you can very well use eclipse to deploy your web service.
    You would usually have the ant script in the source root working directory. From eclipse if you select the build file from the navigator view and right click you will see a run ant option in the pop up menu.
    Select that option and you would be able to see each targets with a checkbox select option. So define each target maybe one for wsdl2java conversion, one for compilation and one for deploying your web services. You can either make all of them run by having depends option on or you can run them individually as it takes your fancy.
    I am not sure about debugging a web service yet.
    Hope this helps

  • Using request object in java web service code

    Hi,
    I am working on a java web service and require the request object in my code.
    This is because i want to get the name of the user who is using this web service.
    I am getting error in the line
    IPortalComponentRequest request = (IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest();
    Please guide me how to use the request object.
    Please also suggest if there is any other way to get the name of the user who is using the web service.

    Simple answer: This is not possible due a web service doesn't has such request objects.
    If you want to use the user information you have to pass it from the programm logic you are calling the web service. When you have e.g. a JSPDynPage you can read out the user information and supply this information for your web service.

    From your post it is not clear what kind of Java web service client (JAX-WS, JAX-RPC, Axis) you are using. The problem being faced is also not clear in the post. Some more elaboration may help others in providing inputs.

  • Looking for More Info on Java Web Service

    Hi Everyone,
    Where can i find More info on Java web Service in BPEL? Is there any link or documentation for this? I looked at the tutorial and the only info available is:
    B.2.7 Java Web Service
    This service enables you to publish a Web service from a Java class. A wizard creates the WSDL document and deployment files needed to publish your code as a Web service. After you select the class and methods you want to publish, the wizard generates deployment descriptors, a JAX-RPC mapping file, and a WSDL document that can be deployed to an application server.
    Thank You,

    Sure,
    one way would be to upload the files to XE using the WebDav feature of the XML DB. You find more information here: http://daust.blogspot.com/2006/03/where-are-images-of-application.html
    Another option would be to configure a standalone Apache as a proxy server to XE. This way you can configure the Apache any way you like.

  • How to deploy and debug java web service in eclipes or using any other soft

    Hai,
    can any one tell me how to deploy and debug java web service in eclipes or using any other software.

    we have used web service to interact with MS outlook .

    sudhakar.m

  • Java web service -- how to re-generate Java sources when WSDL changes?

    I created a new web service using the "Java Web Service from WSDL" wizard.
    Some time later I changed the WSDL and now I need to rebuild the Java sources. What is the best way to do this? I can't re-run the wizard, it returns an error: "The name of this web service is already used by another web service in this project."
    Using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 on Linux.
    Thanks.
