That wasn't the question. For now.

No but it will probably make a difference on how you do it.
I was ready to bet some pennies on what the next question would be ... but it hasn't come yet.

  • How to concatenate two different strings?

    I am facing problem in concatenation of two different strings.Basic behind two strings is that 1st string consist today's date (ddmmyy) and second one is two digit number from a loop (01-99).So that I will come with 8 digit unique number(20100801) every time I hit it.
    Can u please give any reference for this?
    I will be very thankful !!

    ... or you could use StringBuilder...
    or you could use the formatting functionality of java.util.Formatter ...
    You need to be more specific about your problem. Concatenating string is the one of the simplest things one can do in Java. If you really are having a problem with it, you should be clearer about your problem. Post a SSCCE.

  • How can I squeeze a clip in between another clip?

    I'm not sure if there is a better way to explain my question than simply writing it out: Imagine Clips A, B and C
    A=====B======C=====
    I want to move C between A and B so it looks like this:
    A=====C=====B======
    Notice how C just gets nicely squeezed between A and B with no space or gaps between the clips. Everything just sort of snaps into place.
    I know something similar is possible when you insert a clip for the first time with the "insert edit" tool. But that seems to just be for clips that are in the 'All Clips' bank. What I want to do is move/insert clips that are already in the story line.
    If I try to "squeeze" a clip in between 2 other clips (with the Select tool), it pushes the other clips above or below the clip I am trying to squeeze in between. I don't want it above or below--I want it in between them!
    I'm hoping there is a simple and easy tool for this. I just don't know about it. Thanks for any and all help!

    … all of my clips have that. is there a way to detach or remove those? thanks!
    … sorry to say - your discription/screen-shot confuses me a bit …
    it looks like, your work-flow doesn't match with the intended one in FCPX:
    • everything is based upon a 'storyline' - a 'main track'
    • 'docking' anything (clips, stills, audio) upon or below it, gives the question: Why not IN the storyline?
    • if you 'compose' such a cluster of clips, you'll notice those tiny 'legs' you called it - because, the storyline is The Master - if the storyline's clip, that other clips are connected to, is moved, everything's connected to it moves with it = magnetic timeline
    • if you do NOT want that additional material being connected to a 'Master' - then, why not putting it into the storyline
    • I use tons of cut-aways in my lil' sport-documentaries  - for a quick 'first sight/first snych' I put'em on top of the main storyline; but the moment, I decided "yes, fits!", I press cmd-alt-down arrow: instantly, the connected clip gets a normal clip in the storyline - where it belongs! … and behaves like any other clip
    the easiest way to understand that concept:
    • think of a Lower-third-Title you add to some clip (e.g. person's name) - you move the video clip = the title SHOULD move too!
    • but… if the Title is a clip of its own (e.g. "Here comes the bride") - it shouldn't be 'connected' to anything - it HAS to be part of the storyline! When you realize, the bride comes later, you can move it… that simple.
    stacking clips: only, when a 'Master', a Main Cam content or just audio, e.g. music or an interview exists, and this is additional material
    in all other cases, your material should be in the Storyline.
    Even if you show a dozen pictures and 300 soundeffects simultanously - there's allways just ONE 'pace maker' - the story(line).
    btw: this is one of the very major differences to other NLEs - and it needs a while to 'get it'

  • How to concatenate values from one form to another form using calculated columns in sharepoint?

    Im new to Sharepoint.
     I need to know , how to fetch the x1 , x2 values from one form to another form x1, x2 fields, this wants to happen when 2 forms ID fields(Drop down field) are same.
    ex:
    first module I have 3 fields like, "Marketing ID" , "Company name" , "Vendor name".
    second module I have the same related fields like "Marketing ID" , "Company name" , "Vendor name" and some more fields.
    now i need to fetch the information from 1st module to 2nd module ( "Company name" , "Vendor name" ) when I select the Marketing Id(Drop down - field)
    it should be want to show in Calculated columns.
    Can someone make a suggestion on how I can do this.
    Thank you so much for any help you may be able to provide.
    Sincerely
    Ahalya Babu

    Calculated Columns can only generate a value from fields of the current item. And only some types of fields (for example, it can't use a lookup column).

  • How can I share a static field between 2 class loaders?

    Hi,
    I've been googling for 2 days and it now seems I'm not understanding something because nobody seems to have my problem. Please, somebody tell me if I'm crazy.
    The system's architecture:
    I've got a web application running in a SunOne server. The app uses Struts for the MVC part and Spring to deal with business services and DAOs.
    Beside the web app, beyond the application context, but in the same physical server, there are some processes, kind of batch processes that update tables and that kind of stuff, that run once a day. Theese processes are plain Java classes, with a main method, that are executed from ".sh" scripts with the "java" command.
    What do I need to do?
    "Simple". I need one of those Java processes to use one of the web app's service. This service has some DAOs injected by Spring. And the service itself is a bean defined in the Spring configuration file.
    The solution is made-up of 2 parts:
    1. I created a class, in the web app, with a static method that returns any bean defined in the Spring configuration file, or in other words, any bean in the application context. In my case, this method returns the service I need.
    public class SpringApplicationContext implements ApplicationContextAware {
         private static ApplicationContext appContext;
         public void setApplicationContext(ApplicationContext context) throws BeansException {
              appContext = context;
         public static Object getBean(String nombreBean) {
              return appContext.getBean(nombreBean);
    }The ApplicationContext is injected to the class by Spring through the setApplicationContext method. This is set in the Spring configuration file.
    Well, this works fine if I call the getBean method from any class in the web app. But that's not what I need. I need to get a bean from outside the web app. From the "Java batch process".
    2. Why doesn't it work from outside the web app? Because when I call getBean from the process outside the web app, a different class loader is executed to load the SpringApplicationContext class. Thus, the static field appContext is null. Am I right?
    So, the question I need you to please answer me, the question I didn't find in Google:
    How can I share the static field between the 2 class loaders?
    If I can't, how can I load the SpringApplicationContext class, from the "Java batch process", with the same class loader my web app was started?
    Or, do I need to load the SpringApplicationContext class again? Can't I use, from the process, the class already loaded by my web app?
    I' sorry about my so extensive post...
    Thank you very much!

    zibilico wrote:
    But maybe, if the web service stuff gets to complicated or it doesn't fulfill my needs, I'll set up a separate Spring context, that gets loaded everytime I run the "Java batch process". It'll have it's own Spring configuration files (these will be a fragment of the web app's config files), where I'll define only the beans I need to use, say the service and the 2 DAOs, and also the DB connection. Additionally, I'll set the classpath to use the beans classes of the web app. Thus, if the service and DAOs were modified in the app server, the process would load the modified classes in the following execution.You'll almost certainly have to do that even if you do use RMI, Web services etc. to connect.
    What I suggest is that you split your web project into two source trees, the stuff that relates strictly to the web front end and the code which will be shared with the batch. The latter can then be treated as a library used by both the batch and web projects. That can include splitting Spring configuration files into common and specific, the common beans file can be retrieved from the classpath with an include. I regularly split web projects this way anyway, it helps impose decoupling between View/Controller and Model layers.
    On the other hand, you might consider running these batch processes inside the web server on background threads.

  • How to drag and drop tab nodes between tab panes

    I'm working on example from this tutorial( Drag-and-Drop Feature in JavaFX Applications | JavaFX 2 Tutorials and Documentation ). Based on the tutorial I want to drag tabs between two tabs. So far I managed to create this code but I need some help in order to finish the code.
    Source
    tabPane = new TabPane();
    Tab tabA = new Tab();
       Label tabALabel = new Label("Main Component");
    tabPane.setOnDragDetected(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>()
                @Override
                public void handle(MouseEvent event)
                    /* drag was detected, start drag-and-drop gesture*/
                    System.out.println("onDragDetected");
                    /* allow any transfer mode */
                    Dragboard db = tabPane.startDragAndDrop(TransferMode.ANY);
                    /* put a string on dragboard */
                    ClipboardContent content = new ClipboardContent();
                    content.put(DataFormat.PLAIN_TEXT, tabPane);
                    db.setContent(content);
                    event.consume();
    What is the proper way to insert the content of the tab as object? Into the tutorial simple text is transferred. How I must modify this line content.put(DataFormat.PLAIN_TEXT, tabPane);?
    And what is the proper way to insert the tab after I drag the tab:
    Destination
    tabPane.setOnDragDropped(new EventHandler<DragEvent>()
                @Override
                public void handle(DragEvent event)
                    /* data dropped */
                    /* if there is a string data on dragboard, read it and use it */
                    Dragboard db = event.getDragboard();
                    boolean success = false;
                    if (db.hasString())
                        //tabPane.setText(db.getString());
                        Tab tabC = new Tab();
                        tabPane.getTabs().add(tabC);
                        success = true;
                    /* let the source know whether the string was successfully
                     * transferred and used */
                    event.setDropCompleted(success);
                    event.consume();
    I suppose that this transfer can be accomplished?
    Ref javafx 2 - How to drag and drop tab nodes between tab panes - Stack Overflow

    I would use a graphic (instead of text) for the Tabs and call setOnDragDetected on that graphic. That way you know which tab is being dragged. There's no nice way to put the Tab itself into the dragboard as it's not serializable (see https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-29082), so you probably just want to store the tab currently being dragged in a property.
    Here's a quick example; it just adds the tab to the end of the current tabs in the dropped pane. If you wanted to insert it into the nearest location to the actual drop you could probably iterate through the tabs and figure the coordinates of each tab's graphic, or something.

    But as in further posts has already been mentioned , be carefull at publishing such kind of procedures and think on security.
    Also when you want dynamicaly change from clause , you should consider using different records to accept data ? Maybe all your tables has the same structure and then this problem will be smaller.

  • HOW DO I WRITE A STRING TO FLAG WHEN A CELL HAS OR 17 CHARACTERS?

    HOW DO I WRITE A STRING TO FLAG WHEN A CELL HAS < OR > 17 CHARACTERS?

    Hi Tassytiger,
    A "string" is just a string of characters. Examples are qwerty, 123abc, 43πbono. there are several ways to write one. A more precise description of your end goal might help answer "How do I write a string."
    To the current version of your specific question:
    What I actually need to achieve is a situation where, when I enter <17 Char. or >17 Char.
    inadvertently then tab to the next cell, I get the following response in the active cell:
    The cell immediately below "17 character ID" displays an error triangle. These are shown when the formula in a cell produces an error message. they are system generated and require two things to happen: The cell must contain a formula AND something must have happened to cause that formula to produce an error.
    I don't wish to add any columns to my s/s but would like to apply the rule to the current column just as i would change the text or fill colour.
    The difficulty there is that a cell may contain entered data, OR it may contain a formula. You want to enter data (a string of characters) and you want to produce an error triangle if that string has more or fewer than 17 characters. Evaluating the length of the string requires a formula. Getting the string into the cell requires direct entry (in your scenario). The two are not compatible within the content of a single cell.
    Terry's example uses a formula in column B to measure the length of the string in column A. If the length is 17 characters, the IF statement produces the empty string ( "" ), and the cell in column B appears empty. If the string is not 17 characters long, the IF statement produces the string "Not 17 Chars!"
    His formula is easily changed to produce an error triangle in place of "Not 17 Chars!":
    B1: =IF(LEN(A1)=17, "",17/0)
    In this version, if the length of the string in A1 is not 17 (characters), the formula will attempt to divide 17 by 0, and will produce a 'division by zero' error.
    But, as with all of the other suggestions, this one will require a new column to provide space for the formula and it's result.
    Changing the text or fill colour can be done using conditional formatting. Changing content of the cell (eg. choosing between the entered string of characters and the error triangle) cannot.
    Conditional formatting rules compare the content of a the cell to be formatted with either a fixed value (written into the rule) or to the content of another cell. In my examples (and in Ian's examples) above the rules compared the content of the cell to be formattes to the number '17'. The number was generated by a formula which measured the length (in characters) of the text in the cell where the ID was entered, and reported that length as a number.
    A way to show a red triangle using conditional formatting is to use Image fill as the default fill of the cell, then use a colour fill as the conditional fill to hide the trialngle when the conditions are met. Here's the same example as used above, with this technique applied to column B:
    The same formula is used in column B as in my previous example. Type size is set to 1 point (note the black dot, visible in the green filled cell) to keep the numbers from obscuring the triangles. The triangles are shapes, inserted onto the canvas (not into the table) from the Shapes button in the tools. Their fill colour has been changed to red, a 12 point exclamation sign character ha been typed into the shape and its text colour set to white, and the triangle's size has been reduced as much as possible without triggering the overflow symbol (boxed plus sigh) to appear.
    The triangle image (and some of its white background) was made into a png image file by taking a screen shot, and the image was inserted into all of the cells in the body rows of column B as an image fill, using the Graphic inspector. The conditional format rule below was then applied to the body row cells in column B.
    Finally, you can apply conditional formatting to the cell containing the ID. This will still require another column to contain the values to which the content of the ID cell will be compared, but that column may be hidden, or may be located on a separate table.
    The method requires an second cell for each cell contining an ID, and uses a formula that makes the contents of the second cell the same as that of the ID cell IF the ID cell contents are 17 characters long.
    Here's a sample. Table 1 is column A of the same table as above. Table 2 is a single column table holding the comparison cells.
    As in the example above, the cells on table 1 were given an image fill. The conditional format rule replaces that with a white colour fill when the cell contains the same text as its partner cell in Table 2.
    This is the rule for cell A2. In A3, the cell reference is to Table 2::A3, and in A4, to Table 2::A4. The cell references in conditional format rules must be edited individually.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • How to concatenate integers

    I need to display all the elements of a 2d array (all integers) using one line per row. Unfortunately, Java prints vertically, not horizontally. I know how to concatenate String, but how would i achieve the same in this case?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • How to concatenate single quote with any field like 'VBAK'

    Hi,
    How to concatenate single quote with any fields.
    say for example I have table name as MARA, I have to pass that table name to other fields with single quote , like I have to pass that as
    tab name = 'MARA'.
    but how to do this,
    below statement will not work
    concatenate '''  'MARA'   ''' into string.. it's giving syntax error...
    Regards,
    Mrunal

    gv_name = 'MARA'.
    gc_quote = '''.
    CONCATENATE gc_quote gv_name gc_quote INTO value.
