How to config Gmail SMTP server for Crystal Report servers

Hi Experts,
My customer is using Gmail. They need to send out email from Gmail account via Crystal Reports Server to do some reports bursting.
I tried many ways to setup in both CrystalReportJobServer and DestinationJobServer, but just got the following error message.
[AccountsID (8caa73d5-fd2d-469d-8ef2-4d8bd277dc20)]. login error. [[CrystalEnterprise.Smtp] ([1]/[1])]: [SMTP Server does not support authentication. Return code: [SMTP 502 - Command not implemented.].] (FBE60013)
User name and password are correct. It seems it just cannot get authentication.
Anyone can help? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Sebastian is right. BO doesn't support SSL for email.
However, there is a workaround by using a program sTunnel which redirects a default connection to a SSL connection.
Have a look at the note 1611420 which explains on how to do it.

This will not be supported by BO of course but feel free to test it

How to set defalt parameter(s) for Crystal Report in CRS

Hi everybody,
I am new to Crystal Report designing and Crystal Report Server. My problem is; I had created one Crystal Report with sub-reports and some parameters. I had given default value for those parameters. These parameters are there in main report and linked with sub-reports. After that I deployed it in the Crystal Report Server.
Now i want to schedule the report. while scheduling the report, I want to run the report using default parameter(s). If I Clicked on Schedule button, it is giving "report failed" error. And in parameter list it is showing "No parameters". Why this is happening? Is this default behaviour of Crystal Report Server? Can anybody please suggest me how can I give default values for a report automatically?(using Crystal Report Server)

Not sure if I understand the question correctly or not. It sounds like you have a main report, with a sub-report and a value is being passed from the main to the sub-report.
When you say you created some parameters, are those parameters in the sub-report or main report?
If it were me I would create a parameter in the main report, and a parameter in the sub report. Have the two reports link on the two parameters.
When you go to schedule the job, set the default value in the cmc under process/parameters.
Let me know if this answers your question. I tend to not fully understand the problem often times.

Cold Standby Server for Crystal Reports Server...

We have the confirmation from Hong Kong SAP that Crystal Reports Server 2008 does not come with any clustering feature as Business Objects Enterprise does. We are to set up a cold standby server for the production server for high availability. Below is our procedures to work it out:
1) we set up two machines for CRS 2008 with the same licence key and identical hardware; otherwise we clone the production machine to an identical hardware for a cold standby machine
2) we are using our Oracle instance (same instance for both the production and the standby one) for CRS 2008 repository; we bring the production sever offline and perform the standby server installation of CRS 2008 without resetting the repository Oracle database
3) we are to use a SAN LUN for storing the reports produced by CRS 2008
Once the production server does not work properly due to any hardware problem, we switch it off manually and turn on the standby machine and the Crystal Reports service should resume with no repository problem (all the settings) and no loss of printed reports. We would be grateful if you could confirm the feasibility of these procedures. Thanks a lot.

Correct, CRS is for a single machine use only, that why it is not as expensive as the full BOE. Talk to Sales to upgrade.

Answered my own question. Managed to upgrade to 5.0 following this process, but follow these instructions with care...
1. Stop all CMS services in Config Manager.
2. Go to Add/Remove programs and click "change" for Crystal Reports Server XI. Click on "Modify" then change the entry for MySQL4.1.13a to "Entire Feature will be unavailable" (from Enterprise -> Server Components -> Servers - > Central Management Server). This will remove the existing mySQL version and any data/license key information/customisation, so be wary.
3. Install the desired version of mySQL.
4. Use the MySql command line to create a new database - "create DATABASE BOE115;"
5. In the Central Config Manager, select the CMS and display its properties. Select the Dependencies tab and remove the old version of mySQL and add the new version. Click on the Config tab, then Select Datasource. Select mySQL driver, then complete the details for the newly created database. Once complete it will still produce an error, at which point you need to select the options to Re-create the Current Datasource.
6. Once the datasource is sucessfully recreated, restart the Crystal service in the Config Manager.
7. Open the Config tool, and add your license key. Then Re-Enable all the servers within the Servers page.
8. Any other customisation or preferences would need to be re-applied.
This worked for me, but obviously take care as your existing mySQL database will be completely removed during the process.

I configured the same way. When I am sending email to an account on the same domain as my SMTP server is the sending of email is successful. But its giving error when I am trying to send an emain to an account which is on different domain. It giving error as "Operation has been cancelled"

Can gmail smtp server be used (requires authentication)

I would like to configure my 10g XE environment with Apex to handle email.
However, I don't want to set up an SMTP server on my environment. Instead I would like to route to the gmail smtp server.
But gmail like many SMTP servers requires authentication and TLS security. Can authentication be coded into the calls or any suggestions on how to handle?

Mac mail problem with gmail smtp server

I had 2 gmail addresses.
about 3 weeks ago mac mail decided to always send email from both addresses as if they originated from only one address.
I did not solve this problem.
For non related reasons, I got another gmail address.
The same thing started happening.
I now had 3 gmail addresses, but recipients were receiving all email from only one address.
I went to email preferences and started exploring and experimenting.
I was able to reconfigure so that the new gmail address sends from its proper smtp address.
However, there is nothing I can do to get my second email address to send from its proper smtp.
For some inexplicable reason the dialogue box beside "Outgoing Mail Serve (SMTP): tells me that smpt server is offline.
I have no idea how to get it back online.
(In the server editor, there is one more gmail smtp server than I need, 4 instead of 3 and 2 are offline - one just went off tonight)
All relevant mail boxes are online.
Does anyone know anything about this problem?

There are mail forums in the forums for OS X, because you are using Leopard 10.5.6 (why haven't you upgraded to 10.5.8?) you should re-post in that forum. Mail comes as part of the OS that is why they're there. The address is:

Also can someone help how we can set up the SMTP server on different host (not the Database server) and we can use the same for Workflow notification mailer.

It depends on the operating system you are using. If you are using *nix then sendmail needs to be configured.

Why is Mail asking me for the name of an smtp server for an email address that doesn't exist?

I've migrated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion on a new Mac, but in trying to use Mail on ML, it keeps asking me for the name of an smtp server for an email address that's never existed. The addy has my user name correct, but the server part of the address doesn't exist, or at least I've never used an email address with that provider. On ML there's no plist file for Mail, so nothing to delete there. What else can I do to get Mail working? The only other option I have is to abandon Mail as being crippled and useless, and use Postbox, which for it's price (US$9.95) is an attractive option. OTOH, I've paid for Mail after all, so it really ought to work. Any clues as to what I can do to stop its nonsensical behaviour? How do I file a bug report?

IPhoto 11 (9.2.1) can't use iCloud Mail smtp server for email.

iPhoto 11 (9.2.1) can't use iCloud Mail smtp server for email. "The email server didn't recognise username/password combination". Both appear correct in preferences/accounts. Mail sends and receives messages perfectly.
(This problem also occurs when trying to send from Thunderbird, however both iPhoto and Thunderbird can send perfectly well using the Gmail server).

I should explain that I have 5 days experience of the iMac but have had a working iCloud account with my iPad for several months. I don't think this is an iCloud issue as such. My thought is that this is something to do with the Mail application itself and its relationship to my Apple ID etc. (Perhaps when the iMac first configured itself?)
I have deleted and manually reset both Mail and iPhone account settings for iCloud using the Apple recommended settings and I have tentatively checked that the username/password combination is as expected in Keychain but I'm too much of an Apple novice to go any further with that.
On a PC I think I would try reinstalling the Mail programme but I don't see that as an option.

I switched from a BB to an iPhone a few days ago and I knew I was going to miss the QWERTY keyboard but then I also discovered that my GMail doesn't 'push' to my iPhone. I was used to 'push' for all mail accounts on the BB. I also missed being able to personalize text, email, and phone tones for individuals.
I tried the Gmail app for iOS and it does deliver Gmail to the iPhone app quickly but the text is tiny and when it is a web page it's almost impossible to read.
So, I have worked out a kludge to get around these problems.
I added my exisiting Gmail account to the iPhone.
Hotmail does push to iOS 7 so I created a Outlook account (could be hotmail or Live) using the web browser.
I added the hotmail account to the iPhone. I basically use this to give fast notification of important emails on my iPhone.
On my macbook email client I created a rule that 'redirects' incoming mail to the hotmail account. The 'Redirect' is important since the email will show up in the hotmail account on the iPhone as coming from the original sender and you can then respond to the original sender from the iPhone, though the sender will see it as coming from the hotmail account.
The other downside is that you will get a second copy of the email in the gmail inbox on the iPhone, probably 15 minutes later.
If you don't want all of the mail being redirected you can create a 'redirect' group in the Address book and then adjust the rule in Apple mail to only redirect the mail to the hotmail account if the sender is in the redirect group. You can add and delete contacts from this group depending upon which ones you consider to be important. You will still get two copies of the email on the iPhone, one in the hotmail inbox and one in the gmail inbox.
You can prevent this from happening temporarily by turning off, but not deleting, the gmail account on the iPhone. You could then edit the emails on the Apple email client before turning the gmail back on in the iPhone.
And finally if you use the VIP feature in email on the iPhone you can create a list of VIP contacts and then assign a different notification sound for the VIP's. So in effect important contacts mail will be redirect to the iPhone for quick notification and very, very important contacts will have a different notification sound.
I'm basically using the Hotmail account as a notification tool and basically delete all the emails in it since the original copy will be in the gmail account.
And best of all it's all free, except for the bandwidth.

More than 1 smtp server for out going mail

I am working off-site and need to send email from my Mail accounts. I am also connecting wireless. I can receive mail but cannot send.
Can I have more than one smtp server for an account?
Or do I need a separate account for this situation?

i had the same problem, i changed port# from 25 to 587, i think it was, & sent e again,it won't send it so i change back to 25 & send then it worked. In mail under help on menu bar it said i.s.p's sometimes shut down port 25 for junk mail reason's,so it could be temporary.
