You can connect trough ODBC if you install OCA software (taken from your forms CD) and using this connect string
user/password@ODBC:access
Remember that ODBC is a keyword and access is your self made ODBC Data source name ...

  • How to connect a database (Access)?

    can i know how to connect to MS ACCESS, the database file name is "account"
    I have column "name" with data "testing"
    and column "id" with data "123", can i know how to link the data and view it on JTextField?
    Thanks

    on Windows:
    Contr Panel->Admin Tools->Data Sources(ODBC)->System
    DNS tab->MS Access Driver, give it a name and use that
    name in ur code.
    <code>
    Class.forName(driverName);
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL,"","");
    </code>
    i think the dbURL is
    'sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver'....Wrong. That's the name of the JDBC driver class.
    The URL is "jdbc:odbc:dsn", where dsn is the data source name you gave in the Control Panel.
    and i think standard
    SQL querying applies ... i haven't worked with access
    b4 so i am not sure...i would like to know the correct
    way...so keep me posted...
    good luck!If you stay away from M$ JET SQL and stick to ANSI SQL your code will be portable.

    so many question at a time . yes but pls hlp me to learn how to create a table that 'll connect to some database.

    You need to use JDBC to access the database, a TableModel to contain the memory image of the data and a JTable to display it. You can derive your TableModel from the DefaultTableModel class. There is a tutorial on JTable use that builds a Stock Quote table that fetches its data from a database in

  • How to connect with Microsoft Access Database with JAVA

    I want to know the command and query to connect between MSAccess and JDBC.
    Is it beter way to make connection with MSAccess comparing with other Databases such as SQL and Oracle.
    Which Database will be the best with Java?
    I also want to know to be platform indepadent which database is suitable?

    On Windows, you can use MS Access database by:
    Set up a System Data Source using the ODBC control panel applet.
    Use the jdbc:odbc bridge JDBC driver, and specify a jdbc url that points to the data source name you just specified.
    It's been too long since I've done this, so I don't remember the syntax of the jdbc url, but I'm sure that if you do a search for the jdbc:odbc bridge that you will find what you are looking for.
    As far as the question about which database is best, you will need to determine that based on your project requirements.
    If you want a quick and dirty, open source, cross-platform database, take a look at HyperSonic SQL.

    There is a worked example of how to connect oracle to an Excel spreadsheet, which is easily modifyable to read from an Access Database.

  • How to connect ms access in swing application  JDeveloper

    hi guys,
    How do I do to connect MSAccess database in a swing application in JDeveloper?

    Just wondering, you asked how to connect to MS Access from a swing app being developed on JDev...
    Are you using ADF ? Or just using JDev to develop a plain vanilla java swing app ?
    If not using ADF :
    You could try the JDBC ODBC bridge. http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jdbc/bridge.html
    Might be better than half baked JDBC type 4 drivers for Access.
    If using ADF, I'm assuming you have an ADF model project and an ADF swing project. If you can manage to use the JDBC-ODBC bridge, you should be able to configure a DataSource for your model project as javax.sql.DataSource and javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource are now supported though the bridge.
    Please keep in mind the warnings on http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jdbc/bridge.html, especially the limited scalability and performance.

    Hi,
    For some databases (for example MSSQL, Oracle,...) you can use transaction DBCO (table DBCON) to create connection to external database. Then you can use native SQL in ABAP programs (EXEC SQL command).
