How to connect to pioneer vsx42 through air play
Has anyone here used airplay through a pioneer receiver? I just purchased vsx42 Elite and I can't figure out how to get it working. I have both the iPad and the pioneer on the same network. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
you can only connect your iPhone 4S and iPad2 for the purpose of tethering your iPhone's internet connection to the iPad. Any other connection is not supported.

Hi
Hi I just got my new Apple TV and I cant figure out how to connect it with My MacBook Air (11-inch, Late 2010- Processor 1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) OSX Version 10.8Are you referring to mirroring or you just unable to set up homesharing.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi. -

The following gives details about how to set up personal hotspot so your computer can share your phone's data connection. Note that in order for this to work you must have a cellular data plan that supports this feature. You may need to contact your cellular provider. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4517

Duplicate iPad screen on HDTV through air play
How do I duplicate iPad screen on HDTV through air play?
You need an iPad 2 or 3 (new iPad).
The iPad 1 only allows basic Airplay.
The iPad needs to be on the same network as the AppleTV.
Airplay needs to be enabled (or not disabled) in AppleTV settings.
On iPad, press the Home button twice, swipe to the leftmost screen where if AppleTv is detected you should have an Airplay option and a slider to turn on mirroring. If you have a compatible ipad and don't see this try rebooting all devices and your router.

How to connect Macbook to TV through Dvi to VGA adapter.
I recently got s Macbook and was wondering how to connect it to my 32 inch sony tv. I have the dvi to vga adapter and recently bought an adapter that converts the VGA into RGA adapters + S video (all of which my tv has) When I connect the TV with these components nothing happens. I am curious to know what the next steps are to getting the Macbook to recognize the tv and how to produce an image on my TV. Any input would be helpful
what plugs do you really have.. that was confusing? This is a Macbook (not pro)?
First, it could be as simple as going to System Preferences|Displays| and choose to "Detect Display". It may not be recognizing you plugged something in.
If you want to connect you should probably get the proper Apple mini-dvi adapters to match exactly what your TV has. I use the adapter from mini-DVI-to-DVI with my DVI-ready TV and it works great. They have one adapter for mini-DVI-to-VGA, and one from mini-DVI-to-Svideo. Note that multiple adapters assume you have 100% compatible input when often adapters "cheat" on the actual output side... data and signals are probably not getting thru... your Mac can't recognize the TV as connected.
If you want to live dangerously, you might try using the mini-to-DVI adapter with a DVI-HDMI cable (single cable, no adapter) and see if that works (HDMI is a legit DVI spec so it should work, it works in reverse for my DVD player to TV connection) -

Getting started: how to connect to "tutorial-chat" via AIR app
Hi,<br />I've gone through the blaze ds "getting started" article and successfully got the chat application working.<br /><br />I now am trying to connect a test AIR app to that same tutorial-chat destination, but am having issues. How do i properly specify the "desination" via a fully qualified url?<br /><br /><mx:Producer id="producer" destination="http://myurl.com:8400/messagebroker/tutorial-chat"/><br /><br /><mx:Consumer id="consumer" destination="http://myurl.com:8400/messagebroker/tutorial-chat"<br />message="messageHandler(event)"/>
You don't specify urls in destination attributes. You specify destination ids which are defined in messaging-config.xml on the server. Destinations on the server (whose id you use in your Consumer) specify a channel id and channels are also defined on the server in services-config.xml. Channel definition is the one that has the URL in it.
All you have to do is to make sure you compile your AIR app pointing to the services-config.xml. If you can't do that, then you can create yoru own ChannelSet and assign to your Consumer, something like this:
var cs:ChannelSet = new ChannelSet();
var c:Channel = new AMFChannel(null, [URL_OF_YOUR_ENDPOINT]);
cs.addChannel(cs);
myConsumer.channelSet = cs;
If you're running this locally on your machine, URL_OF_YOUR_ENDPOINT is something like http://localhost:8400/messagerbroker/amf but it all depends on how you defined your channel/endpoint in services-config.xml on the server. -
How do I connect a Garmin 500 to ipad air?
I'm not sure what you mean by "use the gps app". There is no gps app as such on any iOS device.
Location services, a component of iOS, can use GPS on those device with it (iPhone and cellular iPads), but as a user, you use apps to access that location data and display it or whatever.
There are geotracking, biking and hiking apps in the App store that might do just what you want. Have a look through the app store for some of the navigation apps that might be suitable replacements to the Garmin device.
Just search for cycling apps in iTunes or the App store and you should get several hits (there is one called Cycle Tracker Pro I've heard of, by a company that makes a whole host of geotracking and exercise related apps - BlueFin software). -
Just hooked up my Apple TV. It's great. I have a satellite receiver and also a multi room sound system where I would like the sound to come through. Can anyone tell me how I would connect to accomplish this. My HDMI is connected so the sound is coming through my TV just fine. I would like it to come through my sound system instead. Your assistance is very much appreciated.

Hi:
My system is as follows. 1 only HDMI output on TV. I purchased an HDMI switch box/unit. I have the output from the Switch Box Unit going into my TV.
I have 5 inputs on the switch box unit. 2 I have used.....
1 input from my television satellite receiver
2 input from my Apple TV
My other equipment is
1 home theatre system. This is where the sound from my TV goes through
1 russ sound whole home sound distribution system
When I play my Apple TV I am still getting the sound of my satellite TV.
This suggests that your satellite receiver is connected to your "home theater system" (which I will shorten to AVR "Audio/Video Receiver") for audio. Is this correct?
If so, then your problem is that you're switching video inputs, but not audio, and what I listed as (2) applies:
2. You can connect the ATV to the TV using HDMI. Then you can either:
2a. Connect the TV to the AVR using an optical cable for audio.
2b. Connect the ATV to the AVR using an optical cable for audio.
You've connected the ATV to the "switch box" instead of the TV, which amounts to the same thing, as you're just expanding the number of HDMI ports on the TV by using the switch. So your simplest solution is either 2a or 2b. If your TV has an audio out port, and it's the same kind of port that your satellite receiver uses, you can just disconnect the audio cable from the satellite receiver and plug it into your TV. You may have to enable "external speakers" or whatever they call it in the TV settings. This would be best, because then you wouldn't have to change inputs on the AVR to select the correct audio; you would just change inputs on the switch, and both video and audio would switch between the satellite box and the ATV, solving your problem. Note that an optical cable is required to get Dolby Digital 5.1 audio (surround sound), and I mention that because it's possible you're using an analog audio (RCA) cable. So an optical cable is best.
Beyond this, I would really need to know your TV and AVR model numbers, preferably accompanied by links to specification pages or manuals, and it would be very helpful to know how the satellite receiver is connected to the AVR for sound. -
How to connect airport time capsule through wireless internet
Just purchased an Airport Time Capsule but having trouble to connect it through my Macbook Air using wireless. Could you please help? many thanks
Make sure the MBA has ipv6 set to link-local only for wireless.
I strongly recommend using short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
eg TCgen5 and TCwifi
In fact if you keep having wireless issues.. with the MBA in the same room as the TC, change the wireless name to TC24ghz and TC5ghz so you have different names for both bands and see if that doesn't help.. try to connect to this band and then the other.
Use WPA2 personal security.. password 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
Do not hide the wireless.. that is against the code and simply leads to issues.
If you still have issues.. post back.. does the MBA work ok on other routers or wireless access points?? -
How to connect to my router through airport
I can connect to my router configuration page when i use a direct ethernet connection, and use 192.168.1.1 in Safari.
However, does any one know how i access this page when the router is plugged into my airport base station, and i am wirelessly connected to the Airport network.
Thanks.Yes I know the IP address when connected directly with an ethernet cable- 192.168.1.1
This works fine with ethernet, but I wanted to see if there was a way to connect when the router is connected into my airport, and I am connected to the airport network. The Airport is distributing the IP addresses, and the router is in bridge mode, simply supplying the internet signal on to the airport base station. The base station is controlling my PPPoE.
My router has a configuration page with my web info, such as speed, and other statistics. It is useful to refer to to see if I am getting a good speed.
If it can't be done, then so be it. But just thought there would be a way to connect through the airport and on to the router.
Thanks for you advice. -
How to Connect to TCP Server in AIR?
I have a TCP server that apparently is working and is listening for incoming connections:
package
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.EventDispatcher;
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.events.*;
import flash.events.IOErrorEvent;
import flash.events.ProgressEvent;
import flash.events.ServerSocketConnectEvent;
import flash.net.ServerSocket;
import flash.net.Socket;
public class TCP extends Sprite
private var serverSocket:ServerSocket;
private var clientSockets:Array = new Array();
public function TCP()
try
// Create the server socket
serverSocket = new ServerSocket();
// Add the event listener
serverSocket.addEventListener( Event.CONNECT, connectHandler );
serverSocket.addEventListener( Event.CLOSE, onClose );
// Bind to local port 8087
serverSocket.bind( 8087, "127.0.0.1" );
// Listen for connections
serverSocket.listen();
trace( "Listening on " + serverSocket.localPort );
catch(e:SecurityError)
trace(e);
public function connectHandler(event:ServerSocketConnectEvent):void
//Thesocket is provided by the event object
var socket:Socket = event.socket as Socket;
clientSockets.push( socket );
socket.addEventListener( ProgressEvent.SOCKET_DATA, socketDataHandler);
socket.addEventListener( Event.CLOSE, onClientClose );
socket.addEventListener( IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onIOError );
//Send a connect message
socket.writeUTFBytes("Connected");
socket.flush();
trace( "Sending connect message" );
public function socketDataHandler(event:ProgressEvent):void
var socket:Socket = event.target as Socket
//Read the message from the socket
var message:String = socket.readUTFBytes( socket.bytesAvailable );
trace( "Received: " + message);
// Echo the received message back to the sender
message = "Echo -- " + message;
socket.writeUTFBytes( message );
socket.flush();
trace( "Sending: " + message );
private function onClientClose( event:Event ):void
trace( "Connection to client closed." );
//Should also remove from clientSockets array...
private function onIOError( errorEvent:IOErrorEvent ):void
trace( "IOError: " + errorEvent.text );
private function onClose( event:Event ):void
trace( "Server socket closed by OS." );
But how do I connect to it? I'm trying to make a multiplayer game, and I want variables and strings to be communicated to each client, but what code do I have to put in to get one of the clients to connect to the other? Again, it successfully LISTENS for a connection, but I don't know how to get anything to connect to it. Another thing is that I get an error thrown at me when I try to test the standalone SWF file, it only listens for connections when I hit "test movie" in the FLA... Thanks in advance...Well, i don't know how to detect your ps3 on your imac, but i know a way to connect your PS3 to you imac and Macbook, it's called Remote Play, this was created by sony some years ago, read this article for more: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/7225/playstation-3-use-remote-play-on-any-non-son y-vaio-windows-7-pc-ps3-firmware-3-30/
