How to convert DBSequence to Number

my case is
i can not convert DBSequence (id) primary key to Number
public String confirm()
AttributeBinding id = (AttributeBinding)getBindings().getControlBinding("Id");
AttributeBinding emp_id = (AttributeBinding)getBindings().getControlBinding("emp_id");
Number confirm_id = (Number)id.getInputValue();
emp_id .setInputValue(confirm_id );
return null;
}

sorry but it does not work correctly
1- i already got(read) id from the binding by
AttributeBinding id = (AttributeBinding)getBindings().getControlBinding("Id"); -------> "Id is of type sequence"
2- i got emp_id
AttributeBinding emp_id = (AttributeBinding)getBindings().getControlBinding("EmpId");--------> "EmpId is of type Number"
3- i want assign id to EmpId so i should read value of id
Number confirm_id = (Number)id.getInputValue();
4- finally i want assign confirm_id to emp_id
emp_id .setInputValue(confirm_id );
the problem is in step 3 because id is not Number and when i try to read another attribute instead of id (phone_no for example )
it work correctly becuase the phone number is of type Number.
so how can i assign id of type sequence to emp_id of type Number !!!

    your advice is at most appriciated .

    Example of what I was saying...
    SQL> create table myexp (name number);
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into myexp values (2447051301970090001);
    1 row created.

    The number you are seeing as an exponent is not just the number that is stored with lots of 0's on it, there's other information you are missing, so you need to change your format to see the true value.

  • How to convert raw to number in oracle 8

    Does anyone know how to convert a raw data to number format ???
    If i do: select dump(50,16) from dual, it will return bytes c1 33.
    With this bytes in a raw variable, how can i convert it to a number variable in Oracle 8.
    PS: Oracle 8 doesn't have utl_raw.cast_to_number function...
    Thanx.

    Thanx for help... But...
    This examples are very usefull, but only converts a value in HEX to number.
    In my case, i need a routine that convert the bytes of value 50 (i.e. 2 bytes -> C1 33) into a number variable. If i only use hex to number, will return wrong value. I need to convert this bytes (C1 33) into original number, i mean, value 50.
    Using dump function for 50, will return C1 33...
    How can i make to convert C1 33 back to value 50??
    I think that is the same of the utl_raw.cast_to_number, but i'm using Oracle 8, and this function is in Oracle 9...
    Anyone have idea ??

  • How to convert an int number to a byte array, and how to convert back?

    Hello, everybody,
    Just as the topic, if I have an int number(which should have 32-bit, or 4-byte), how can I convert it into a byte array. And also, how to convert it back.
    Thank you in advance!

    Alternatively you can use ByteBuffers to do this work for you
    // to a Byte Array
    int originalInt =...;
    ByteBuffer myBuffer = ByteBuffer.allocate(4);
    myBuffer.putInt( originalInt );
    byte myArray[] = myBuffer.array();
    // and back to an int
    ByteBuffer myOtherBuffer = ByteBuffer.wrap(myArray);
    int finalInt = myOtherBuffer.getInt();

    This question is not clear at all.
    "Fractional decimal" is not a data type, but a way of formatting in readable form using numeric characters and a decimal separator.
    Same to "hex number", but only for integers.
    What do you mean by "convert"? Do you want to keep the value the same or retain the bit pattern of the numeric data type?
    Hexadecimal is for integers. Are you talking about fixed point?
    We clearly need significantly more information. What are the input and output data types? What are you actually trying to do?
    Do you have an example input and corresponding output?

  • How to convert a large number to hex without truncating to 32-bit.

     I am trying to convert a very large number to hexadecimal (string). The number gets truncated to 32-bit, which is not what I want. For example, the number 28037546508295 (double) should be 0x198000000007. Labview truncates it and the resulting string is 0x7FFFFFFF, using Number To Hex String.vi. I am stuck. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You can split your dbl into two 32bit integers using quotient&remainder (divide by 2^32 followed by "toU32").
    Now format each with %032x and concatenate the strings.
    Remove leading zeroes if needed.
    (Sorry, posting via phone. I can show an example later)

  • Essbase 9.3 Calc scripts. Pb with dates. How to convert (string = number) ?

    Hello,
    I've a problem with Essbase(Planning?) Scripts on version 9.3. It looks simple but I do not find any (clean) solution :
    On my Essbase database, I have a member called "Reference_Date" on my axis Indicators. It is a date data type, that is to say, it displays a number corresponding to a YYYYMMDD format. For example : 20091029 for October 29th 2009.
    In calc scripts I often need to compare the month included in that "Reference_Date" with the current Member of my Time Axis (I have 12 Months members based on the format M02 for February for example). The final aim is to calculate a number of complete years since that "Reference_Date".
    But theses two elements are not of the same "type" (one is a number value and the other is a "member" in Time Axis). So I'm forced to convert one of this two elements in order to compare it.
    For example I can extract the month value of the "Reference_Date"' and put an "M" before it to have a Time member equivalent or I can convert the member Name M10 to a number (10))
    in both cases I have the same type problem : I don't know how to convert a string into a number nor how to convert a number into a string.
    (For example @CONCATENATE doesn't work with numbers). and that my only remaining problem.
    I didn't find any Essbase Function which do this (conversion number <=>string).
    Is anyone have an Idea ?
    Thanks for your help
    Best regards

    I don't know any way for you to compare your data against your metadata. Not directly. To me it makes little enough sense to try that I'm not surprised the developers didn't provide for it.
    I've converted member names to strings, manipulated the strings (calc script functions are not good at this), and turned them back into member names, but that's really the only use I've had for string manipulation. I don't think an equivalency operator even exists for string data. And I see no way to begin thinking of a member name, once converted to a string, as a number.
    It makes even less sense to me to try thinking of a data value as a string. Even text values in Sys 11 are stored as numbers. Not encoded characters, but just a number to look up somewhere.
    I think you can do what you want though, with something like this...
    IF (@ISMBR("FY08"))
    vYr = 2008;
    ELSEIF (@ISMBR("FY09"))
    vYr = 2009;
    ENDIF;
    IF (@ISMBR("M01"))
    vMth = 1;
    ELSEIF (@ISMBR("M02"))
    vMth = = 2;
    ENDIF;
    "Years_Since_Reference" = ((vYr * 100) + Mth) - ("Reference_Date" / 12);
    Obviously, the math will need some work, coz that doesn't actually work, but the logic above essentially turns your metadata into numbers, which is what you are after.
    Good luck,

  • How to convert an int variable into Number

    Hi all,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.2
    When I insert a row in a entity object I want to create another row in another entity object, but when I am setting the attribute for the new row I have a problem.
    Here is the code:
    int a = EO1Impl.paramA;
    NameEO2Impl.setAttribute("Attribute1", a);
    The error is that variable a is an int, while Attribute1 is a Number.
    How can convert an int to a Number.
    Thank you.

    Andrea9,
    If a, as you say is an int, and assuming you mean an oracle.jbo.domain.Number,
    NameEO2Impl.setAttribute("Attribute1", new oracle.jbo.domain.Number(a));works just fine.

  • How to convert a number to duty cycle (FPGA)

    Hi
    I want to convert a numerical number to a duty cycle value in FPGA module so I could use it to generate a PWM signal for the numerical value.
    I tried dividing it but it shows an error in FPGA as it would produce a float value. I tried even the example of scaled division but the quotient is rounded of to 0 (I wanted to convert an output by multiplying 10/36).
    In my project the 100% duty cycle is 360 degrees and 0% is 0 degrees of the motor shaft rotation.
    Please help me I need to use it for my project.
    Thank you
    Dinesh

      I am not exactly sure how your duty cycle is setup, but here is a way we have used a number to create a PWM in our FPGA.
         If you have 360 deg. then I would guess you want to create a PWM duty cycle that is some fraction of 360, say "number"/360.  You could use a for loop where 360 is wired to the "N" and then your "number" can be compared to the current loop count.  That comparison would be true/false which could triger a DIO to be high or low.  Therefor, if   (loop count) < "number"  then DIO is HIGH,  if (loop count) >= "number then DIO is LOW.   This would send out a PWM that has a duty cycle of "number"/360, (multiply by 100 to get in %)
         I hope this helps.
