How to convert imaq image to a 2D array without vision development module

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to convert an Imaq image into a regular picture (2D array) without using "Vision development module", nor saving it to a file (I need a refresh rate of about One frame per second).
any ideas?
thanks,
Gilad.

Greetings,
If instead of attempting to acquire the image as the raw data as per the last example, are you looking for something then like the IMAQ Image to Array? I made some research and initially I believed this VI was part of the Development Module, but I was thinking of the Array to Image VI, which is why I did not bring it up earlier.
Finally, how exactly will you then be manipulating that array? Or will you simply be interested in displaying it?

  • How to convert an Image to a byte array?

    I want to make a screenshot and then convert the image to a byte of arrays so I can send it through a BufferedOutputStream.
    try
                   robot = new Robot();
                   screenshot = robot.createScreenCapture(new Rectangle(500,500));
                   imageFile = new File("image.png");
                   ImageInputStream iis = ImageIO.createImageInputStream(screenshot);
                   byte[] data = new byte[1024];
                   byte[] tmp = new byte[0];
                   byte[] myArrayImage = new byte[0];
                   int len = 0;
                   int total = 0;
                   while((len = iis.read(data)) != -1 ) // LINE 52 --- EXCEPTION CATCHED HERE
                        total += len;
                        tmp = myArrayImage;
                        myArrayImage = new byte[total];
                        System.arraycopy(tmp,0,myArrayImage,0,tmp.length);
                        System.arraycopy(data,0,myArrayImage,tmp.length,len);
                   ios.close();I get this exception while running:
    Exception in thread "Thread-0" java.lang.NullPointerException
    at Server.run(Server.java:52)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

    Fixed that. I got a new problem.
    When I connect to my simple server application that reads the image file, converts it to an array of bytes and sends it back, the file is created on the client side and it containts data, but I am not able to open the image. I have checked that the image that the server is sending is working. So where is the problem?
    The client application recieves the image as following:
    public void run()
            try
                socket = new Socket("127.0.0.1", 2000);
                BufferedOutputStream out_file = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream("recieved_img.png"));
                BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream()));
                int inputLine;
                while((inputLine = in.read()) != -1)
                    char c = (char)inputLine;
                    System.out.println(c);
                    out_file.write(inputLine);
            catch(IOException err){ err.printStackTrace(); }
        }And the server sends the image like this;
    try
              socket = server.accept();
              in=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream()));
              out = new BufferedOutputStream(socket.getOutputStream());
              out.write(25);
              while((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null)
                   System.out.println(myArrayImage.length);
              System.out.println(inputLine);
                        out.write(myArrayImage);     // Send the array of bytes
         }

    How to convert a image layer to a text layer any idea? a image looks like a text in layers box

    You can't convert an image into a text layer.  What you can do is clip an image to a text layer so that just the image layer shows up where there is text.  Create a text layer, then above it put your image layer.  Hold down the alt/opt key and click between the two layers to clip them.

    New mac user. How to convert NTFS external hard drive to FAT32 without loosing data?

    You have to off load and backup then.
    don't have backup drive ?
    Get one.
    Want another option? Paragon NTFS for OS X will provide write function to your drive, works with the most PC cases and drives (not all NTFS drivers for OS X do) and does so with fast I/O and low overhead.
    Not sure about using Seagate GoFlex as I seem to recall a number of threads reporting problems.
    Windows can do a convert -fs to NTFS just never tried the reverse from NTFS to FAT32 but I would not use FAT. I'd either erase and reload and use as Mac HFS Extended; or if you actually do need to use it with a PC user running Windows, the driver would be handy and better.
    Or your PC w/ Windows there are HFS drivers for Windows to mount and WRITE to a Mac formatted drive under Windows. There MacDrive has more and better support feature set.

    How do I import images from my hard drive without losing resolution? My original files after import are significantly smaller. What should I do?

    Hi Keith, and all others chiming in, I do have the correct option checked in advanced settings telling iPhoto to copy the images into the library. What is a refernced library? Perhaps this is where I am getting confused. I exported my entire photo library from an old iMac5 to my external hard drive, from there I attempted to import the entire library to my new iMac. Am I overlooking an obvious and easy way to import from the hard drive to the new iMac--I dragged the entire photo pholder from the hard drive to the open window of iPhoto on the new computer. Now, I only get preview file sizes in iPhoto, unless I have my external drive open. Perhaps I need to import the original images from the hard drive in a different way...?! (This is making me feel pretty stupid.)

  • Is vision development module in labview 8.6. sufficient for real-time image acquisition and analysis using a webcam

    Hi,
    I'm new to labview and trying to develop an eye-tracker using labview 8.6. It has the vision development module and i was wondering if this was sufficient for real-time image acquisition and processing or would i be needing any other software tools.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello, certainly it is possible and sufficient for real-time tracking!
    About eye tracking - if you need an example, you can find the code here:
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/blogs/kl3m3n/2013/10/08/real-time-face-and-eye-detection-in-labview-u...
    The code uses OpenCV functionalities along with the LabView UI (and some other functions like overlay).
    Hope this helps a bit.

  • How do I make an executable that includes vision development module?

    Hi,
    I am trying to make an executable from a labview program that uses the avi tools from the 2012 vision development module to open and read each frame of the avi file. The executable will be used on computers that do not have labview or vision development. When I make the executable I make an installer that includes the labview 2012 runtime engine and the vision development 2012 runtime engine. When I attempt to open my executable everything works properly other than the fact that a blank screen is displayed and the avi frames cannot be seen. The executable even reads the proper frame rate for the avi file that is selected in the executable. I do not understand why the video is not showing up. Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
    Welcome to the NI Discussion Forums! Do you have the proper video codecs installed on the deployment machines? The IMAQ AVI functions use the codecs installed on your computer to process AVI files.

    Jpeg File format does not support vectors.  Photoshop has limited vector support and tools.  Photoshop can not save vector file formats like SVG.  What File type does your printer want?
    Adobe Illustrator is Adobe vector application.

  • How to convert color image(24 bit) YUV 4:2:2 to gray scale 8 bit image

    I am using sony DFW-X700 color camera for one of vision applications.Does NI Compact Vision System(CVS) support YUV 4:2:2 format(8 bit each).I want to do gray scale processing, so i need to convert the YUV color into gray scale (8-bit) in the software(like Labview). Please suggest us how to do this conversion for better gray scale image clarity from color.

    In YUV color space, Y represents the gray scale; in RGB color space, R=G=B represents gray scale. You can simply set R=G=B=Y, to convert YUV to RGB. If the original color depth is 24 bit, then the result is 24 bit too.
    You can create gray scale color table like this:
    array size = 256;
    [0] = 0x000000;
    [1] = 0x010101;
    [2] = 0x020202;
    [255] = 0xFFFFFF;
    To convert 24 bit gray scale to 8 bit, check every pixel in 24 bit image to find the array index according to the color table, and replace the pixel with array index.
