How to correct UTF8 when download to csv or excel

Hi,
when download function in IR to export to csv or excel, how to keep utf8 characters correctly ?
Thanks & regards

"hlthanh",
If you want the CSV download to always be encoded in utf-8, then you should set the application-level attribute "Automatic CSV Encoding" to No.

When downloading a .csv file in Safari, it adds .xls, making the file filename.cvs.xls
If I rename the file, it opens just fine, if I don't it opens all in one column.
I had found a fix on my old macbook, but just got a new MBP and it's happening again.
Can't remember or find where the fix is.
    Thanks!

Safari: Downloaded file's filename may have an additional extension

    That's from June 11, 2007!
Working from my defective memory, this happened to me, but stopped if I unchecked 'Open safe files after downloading' in Safari Preferences/General.
At least I think that's how I stopped it - it hasn't happened since!

  • Dashboards - Download to CSV or Excel?

Is it possible to download to csv or Excel from a dashboard?
    Thanks!

I found the answer. The "Properties" button for the report(s) on the dashboard has a "Report Links..." option. This is where to change the setting.

  • How to use auto fit selection when downloading to csv file

    hi,
I am working on reports, i need to download to a .csv file. I am using GUI_DOWNLOAD is there any option for it where text fits exactly in a single cell.
    For Eg:
I excel there is an option (Format-column-Autofitselection).
Then the column size increases or decreased according to the text size.

    Dear Josephine,
There is no option the way you want of autofit. Rather while opening the CSV in excel u can do the required formatting.

  • Issues when Downloading Large Datasets to Excel and CSV

    Hi,
Hoping someone could lend a hand on the issues described below.
I have a prompted dahsboard that, dependent upon prompts selected, can return detail datasets. THe intent of this dashboard is to AVOID giving end users Answers Access, but still providing the ability to pull large amounts of detail data in an ad-hoc fashion. When large datasets are returned, end users will download the data to thier local machines and use excel for further analysis. I have tried two options:
    1) Download to CSV
    2) Download data to Excel
For my test, I am uses the dashboard prompts to return 1 years (2009) worth of order data for North America, down to the day level of granularity. Yes alot of detail data...but this is what many "dataheads" at my organization are requesting...(despite best efforts to evangelize the power of OBIEE to do the aggregation for them...). I expext this report to return somewhere around 200k rows...
    Here are the results:
    1) Download to CSV
    Filesize: 78MB
Opening the downloaded file is failrly quick...
126k rows are present in the CSV file...but the dataset abruptly ends in Q3(August) 2009. The following error appears at the end of the incomplete dataset:
    <div><script language="javascript" src="res/b_mozilla/browserdom.js"></script><script language="javascript" src="res/b_mozilla/common.js"></script><div class="ErrorMessage">Odbc driver returned an error (SQLFetchScroll).</div><div style="margin-top:2pt" onclick="SAWMoreInfo(event); return false;"><img class="ErrorExpanderImg" border="0" src="res/sk_oracle10/common/errorplus.gif" align="absmiddle">  Error Details<div style="margin-left:15px;display:none" compresssrc="res/sk_oracle10/common/errorminus.gif">

(HY000)</div></div></div></div></div>
    2) Download to Excel
    Filesize: 46MB
Opening the Excel file is extremely painful...over 20 minutes to open the file...making excel unusable during the opening process...defeinately not acceptable for end users.
When opened the file contains only 65k rows...when there should be over 200k...
Can you please help me understand the limitations of detail data output (downloading) from OBIEE...or provide workarounds for the circumstances above?
    Thanks so much in advance.

    @chandrasekhar:
Thanks for your response. I'll try with the export button but also willing to know how to create button on toolbar. And by clicking on that button a popup box will come having two radio buttons asking to download the report either in .xls or in .csv format. I am looking for the subroutines for that.
    Thanks.

  • How to pass strings when downloading file

    Hi,
I have a requirement to pass the below mentioned two string at the start of the file when download.
    wf_firstline =  '$$ADD ID=HTAUSRF1 BID=FKI4990016797'.
    wf_secondline = '*03000820000049900167970'.
pls.provide me pointers how can this be done.
    Thanks.

if it is a presentation file download, you have to append the data into the table before the data is filled
and if it is in App.server download, you have to wcan write the strings before transferring the actual data.

  • Display of leading zeroes when downloaded from ALV to excel

    Hi All,
I have a problem in ALV grid display.
There is a specific field which has value starting from '001' to '999'. This is a char(3) type of variable.
The problem is that the display shows the value as '001' which is correct. but when the same file is dwnloaded to excel using standard SAP functionality, the value of the field gets changed to '1' instead of '001'.
Is there any option by which this can be controlled. Please let me know, its urgent!!
    thanks

    hi Ankur,
the Excel download is done by Z program? IF yes you have to do:
       SET PROPERTY OF go_cell 'NumberFormat' = '@'.
this will set the Excel cell to Text type and leading zeros won't be lost.

    Hello Matt,
I recommend to post this query to the [BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration|BI Platform; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to administration and configuration of BusinessObjects Enterprise, BusinessObjects Edge, and Crystal Reports Server.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all BOE Administration queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • Can anyone explain how to correct printing when only the first page prints?

I am having a problem printing pdf document.  I am using Adobe Acrobat X, MacBook Air.  The first page of the pdf will print, but the remaining pages of the document do not.  I occurs on multiple printers. I have tried "Print as Image" and that works, but I want to be able to print without having to use Print as Image.

Let us know which specific USB model you have.
Normally when someone receives a USB modem error there are only a few places to look for solutions.  First would be a reinstall of the connection software.  Always go out to VZW and check to see if there is a newer version when you have problems.  Even if there isn't a reinstall can clear up many temporary problems with these devices.
Your error mentions something about connecting to LTE.  Perhaps there is an issue with the authentication of your device.  It might be a good idea to contact VZW to make sure you are properly registered. You also might want to try connecting in a different location incase there is something wrong with your current environment.  Connecting to a different tower or in a different location may be able to work around the problem.

  • Getting ERROR when downloading alv output to Excel

    Hello All,
I get a error message when I try to use the standard funtionality to download the alv output to excel.
The current statement only supports character-type data objects.
    What happened?
The current ABAP/4 program "SAPLKKBL " had to be terminated because
one of the statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP/4 program.
    Error analysis
    In statement
       "STRLEN( obj )..."
the argument "obj" can only take a character-type data object.
    Source code extract
038620   *   ansonsten entspricht sich min. Ausgabelänge und Ausprägungslänge
    038630       else.
    038640         if gs_fc-tech_form ne 99.
         >           gs_out-hlplen = strlen(  ).
    038660         endif.
    038670       endif.
In this case, the operand "obj" has the non-character type "I".
Please can anyone put some light on this. It is veru difficult to go through the whole std functionality to download.
    Thanks for all support guys!
    Sri.

    Hi srikanth,
This error comes because the values present in any one of the displayed coloums containing special character like * present before or after the number....  i.e  instead of 4 ...**4.
While displaying in the screen it is of no problem. since both *4 are converted into char format (internally) and gets displayed.
But while you download the same throu the EXCEL functionality SAP will intenally convert the same into NUMERIC format. Since 4 is number.
So in that case *4 will cause dump.
*So find out the place in which the value appearing like this *4 and try to correct it.
*Surely it is of Field LENGTH problem. Try to increase the length of the field 4.
It Should WORK.!!!..  else post ur query here.

  • Error 'Unable to open file' when downloading SAP Query to Excel

    Hi all
I'm running a SAP Query which is set to download straight to a spreadsheet (Pivot Table / Microsoft Excel).  Intermittently it does not work -  apparently at random (at least, I've can't recreate the error at will).
It does one of the following:
    - Works ok, and creates the pivot table
    - Gives an Excel error message 'Unable to open file', then returns to the 'save the data in a spreadsheet' popup when enter is pressed on the error.
    - Does not issue error message, just goes to the 'save the data in a spreadsheet' popup.
In the last two cases, the excel pivot table sheet is not created.
Has anyone seen anything similar, or have any idea as to what is causing the problem?
    Any help gratefully received!
Not urgent as I've found a way round -  further testing seems to show that I don't get the error is Excel is already open - but in the past I've run many SAP query downloads without needing to open Excel first.  I suppose it's possible that this is just something to do with the Excel setup at the user site

    Hi,
Ensure that file name with same name and in same path should not be open while saving the data.

  • Login pop up when downloading BW query to Excel in Portal

I have published several BW queries as iViews in the EP 6.0. I have SSO set up between the BW and the EP 6.0 and viewing the queries on the Portal works fine.
However, when I open the queries in Excel or download them to Excel, a pop up box promting the user for a login keeps appearing. This only happens with queries that contain images, for example hierarchical queries contain little arrow .gifs for expanding and collapsing hierarchies - queries without images don't promt for a login. The behavior is very annoying since one pop up is generated for every image and you have to click ok or cancel 100 times before you are finally able to view the content in Excel.
Can anyone tell me what to do to prevent this from happening? Can the images be put in a public part of the BW Server that doesn't require a login or can the images somehow be downloaded to Excel or even be totally ignored?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Nicole
