How to create a loopback adaptor

Hi all,
I am trying to create a loopback adaptor to bind a Sun Virtualbox virtual machine to. I need to be able to ping from the Mac host to the Virtualbox VM.
The VM has a fixed IP address of a.b.c.d/24 which has to remain, due to the software loaded on it. I can setup the Virtualbox VM in bridged mode and specify one of my adaptors for it to bind to and the options I have are Airport and Ethernet.
I know OSX has a loopback interface and I can add a new address to that (using ifconfig lo0 alias a.b.c.d+1) but the lo0 interface doesn't appear in the list within Virtualbox UI.
The only ways I've managed to get the host to be able to ping the VM are:
1. Set the ethernet/airport addresses manually to a.b.c.d+1 - this is a non starter as I still want to be able to connect to the internet using my ethernet/airport adaptors.
2. Create a new adaptor in Network Prefs with the static address. This works but only when the parent adaptor is connected. i.e. if I create a new ethernet adaptor, call it LoopbackAdaptor and give it a static address, I can bind Virtualbox VM to it and then ping between the Mac and VM, but only when there is a real ethernet connection. Similarly with the airport. I need to be able to connect between the Mac and VM even when I am not attached to any real networks.
In M$ world (which I'm so glad to be out of) I would have installed an M$ loopback adaptor which would appear as another network interface which software like Virtualbox could see.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Does Virtualbox have "host only" or NAT networking? VMWare Fusion has a "host-only" networking mode that will "attach" a NIC to the virtual machine. (NAT also attaches a virtual NIC similar to host-only, but also adds routing info.) You can set any IP addr you want, since with a loopback you wouldn't have any LAN access anyway, so the effect is the same. And if you chose NAT, but used your own IP addr that's NOT on the correct subnet for that NAT network, then again, you don't get LAN access and the effect is the same as a loopback.

How to create process task adaptor for Manager DN for OID?

We are trying to get provision users in OID and need to populate manager DN. We created pre-populated Rule generator adaptor to create user in OID. We used utility task and concat cn=managerid and ",, cn=users,dc=mycompany,dc=com." it work great at the time of user creation. Now we are trying to build "process task" adaptor in same way but it is failing and complaining about users not exist.
I used same way to build process task adaptor as I did for prepoulate rule generator only difference it selected "Process task" at the time of creation. I am new to OIM and trying to get some details. Please let me know if I am missing something.
If you already build process task adaptor to create users in OID with single location, I will appreciate that if you share with me.
Example cn=user1, cn=users,dc=mycompany,dc=com.

You have changed the manager DN in Trusted Resource and you are able to update this information in OIM also. Now you want to update this manager DN in OID.
If this your requirement then following link may help you

Or in this task you can write your java code to update the process form attached with the provisioning process of user.

How can I create a loopback process in BPEL? For example: I have a flow that has a human task that submits a proposal. After
this, Theres is another human task that will review this proposal with Approve or Reject options. If it is approved, then the flow goes on. If it is rejected, then the flow has to go back to the proposal subimission process. You can see an image (the first image in the URL) that ilustrates this flow here: http://onbpms.com/2007/02/08/looping-backward/. The rest of the page is not important. Just look at the image to understand my problem. How can implement such loop in BPEL?
I´m using JDeveloper Studio Edition 10.1.3.2.0.4066 and SOA Suite 10.1.3.1.0

Yes, I have. This is the instructions that oracle gave me.
There are two approaches:
1) use WHILE bpel activity.
a) Have a variable initially set to N, and loop it till it becomes Y.
b) Inside the loop, you can have the assign activity, and human task call.
c) If the humantask result is Reject,continue the loop again
d) Else, set the variable as Y and end the loop
2) Use scope
For loopback process you can place the process in a scope and make use
of the replay scope method to repeat the scope.
a).Place the assign and UserTask in a single scope.
b) For the Reject condition in the swtich activity , place a throw
activity that throws a remoteFault.
c). Put a catch around the scope to handle the fault thrown by the Reject condition.
d). In this catch place a throw activity, with local part = replay. Choose the remoteFault fault and change de local part to replay
e). This would replay the whole scope when the reject condition is meet.
Both approaches work just fine.

How to set up loopback# as source fro NTP and/or built-in DNS server ?

I have created a loopback# interface which I would like to be used as the router source interface for the NTP client and/or built-in DNS server so everything originating whithin the router has only one and unique IP address (such as: logging source-interface Loopback#)
The documentation explains how to create virtual interfaces but I cannot find how to associate them to the mentioned services except logging.
IOS is 12.4.15T.9

For DNS, maybe this would do the trick:

Why do you want to use bonding? If this is not a real RAC, what do you want to achieve by bonding?
I do not see a dedicated Interconnect interface. Node 1 has NIC eth1 and node 2 has NIC eth2. One of the basics for RAC is to have the same configuration on each node. So if node 1 uses eth1 for public/virtual/private networking, then so should every other node in the cluster.
If you bond eth0 and eth1, then what do you want to use for your Interconnect? The same bond0 interface that is now used for your RAC's public and virtual interface configuration?
Make sure you understand the basic requirements for a RAC configuration. Make sure you adhere to these - even in a virtualised environment.

There's nothing stopping you from using the generated sequence for something else, however you can NOT override it when doing an insert (as long as you've specified ALWAYS which is the default).

How to bridge a loopback interface on Mac OSX ?

I would like to know how to bridge a loopback interface lo0 to the ethernet interface en0 . The en0 gets an ip address from a modem which act as a DHCP server; en0 has currently an ip add of 192.168.0.10.

YES my friend there is away, i do it by myself and it's work well…
Here are the steps:
1. go to "/Applications/Mail " and "get info" for your mail and look how much is size of it.
2. from "/Applications/Utilities" open "Disk Utility"app.
3. from file menu select "Blank Disk Image".
4. Save as: "chose the name you want" I save it as "Mail".
    Where: "Better to be on Applications Folder" or in Privet Place on your hard.
    Name: "chose the name you want" I name it as "Mail".
    Size: set the size Bigger than the size of Mail you take it from "mail info".
    Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
    Encryption: 128-bit AES encryption.
    Partitions: Hard disk.
    Image Format: sparse disk image.
5. when you finish Press "Create".
6. Enter the Password You need, be sure to remove the mark next to "Remember password in my keychain".
7. press "OK".
8. you will find new hard disk open on desktop called "the name you chose it before".
9. now copy "Mail.app" to the new hard disk, and remove mail.app to trash but don't empty it. "if you can't delete the app get the info of it and make all the Permissions Names Read & Write" you need Administrator password to open the lock down below.
10. now remove the mail shortcut in Dock and drag the Mail.app you copy it to Dock.
11. now Eject the new Hard disk.
12. open mail from the Shortcut you add… it's will ask you for a Password.
Be sure to Eject the hard disk when you finish from mail.

How to create a report based on a DataSet programatically

I'm working on a CR 2008 Add-in.
Usage of this add-in is: Let the user choose from a list of predefined datasets, and create a totally empty report with this dataset attached to is. So the user can create a report based on this dataset.
I have a dataset in memory, and want to create a new report in cr2008.
The new report is a blank report (with no connection information).
If I set the ReportDocument.SetDataSource(Dataset dataSet) property, I get the error:
The report has no tables.
So I must programmatically define the table definition in my blank report.

How to create a group calendar?

i am sorry but this is one more question on wiki-group-calendars.
*In short:*
I am not able to create a group calendar with the wiki frontend. the calendar that is created with a wiki is owned by the admin of the wiki. So it is always a personal calendar that cannot be shared in iCal.
LONG:
I want to create a group calendar that is viewed and edited through iCal.app and the web service. Apple´s "wiki deployment" guide says on page 57:
+"The web calendar allows you to easily schedule events for yourself or your group. ...+
+There are *two types of web calendars: personal and group*. You can send and receive event invitations through the personal calendar but not through the group calendar. Also, *while anyone in a group can create or edit events in a group calendar*, you can edit only events in your own personal calendar or event invitations you send to other people.+
+The web calendar uses iCal Server to store events and invitations. ..."+
But there is not mentioned how to create a group calendar. The calendar created with the wiki web-frontend belongs to the admin of that particular wiki. This is why the calendar data ist stored in folder named with the UUID of the wiki admin. Also the alias "http://server.fqdn:8008/principals/groups/mygroupname/" which i provided in iCal turns into ..._uids_UUID-of-the-wiki-admin and only the wiki-admin can access this calendar in iCal.app.
My research on this topic reveals that there were in issue that should be resolved in 10.6.4 (that is running on our Server). So, again, how to create a group calendar?

I went to http://ical.mysite.com/ical/ and logged in as the Directory Administrator but didn't see anything resembling what you described.

How to create a variant to a maintenance view (trans: SM31)

Hi gurus.
I have created a maintenance view (called z_jest). By running it from SM31 there is a variant option. However, I am not able to create the variant which I want to filter a selection upon in this transaction.
I have even looked into transaction SE54 and created a variant for the maintenance table view there( called z_jestv). Then going back to transaction SM31 and view z_jest, i push 'Variant' radiobutton and type as variant: 'z_jestv', I only get the message: "Variant z_jestv for object z_jest does not exist".
Can anybody please advice on how to create and/or connect the variant to the maintenance view?

When I look into the procedure, there is a prerequisite: "The basis dialog for which the maintenance variant is created already exists."
I am a little bit unsertain if I miss this 'Basic dialog'. Can you please advice on how to check / create this 'basic dialog' before I go on to create the variant. (I need this 'basic dialog' as input in the procedure you sent.)
(Note: I have already created a 'maintenance dialog' for the view, but I have a feeling, that is something different...)

Go to se93.
Then create the new T.code.
Under that select parameter Transaction.
Then give the sm30 in the t.code in default values tab.
check the checkbox skip initial screen.
in classification tab.
click checkbox inherit gui attributes..
Now below..
In the default values..
select
viewname and give ur table name.
UPDATE= Xsave
view - table name ( Should be upper case
update X ( should be upper case).
