I suppose to schedule a batch job with a temporary variant or as a real variant. can anybody guide me how to create a temp. variant for a batch job..

Hi Thirumal,
                  First run your program through se38. Then enter your values which u
                  want to use. Then save that by using the save button. Then goto
                  SE36 and define your job while defineing when you define the step
                  give the name of the program then down of that you will have an option
                  of giving the variant use f4 then it will show the value which you have
                  saved while executing the program through se38.Now save your job it
                  will run with the variant.

In se93 there is a check box cross-client .
The Cross-client switch identifies which transaction variants are cross-client and which are client-specific. If the switch is set, the transaction variant is cross-client. If the switch is not set, the transaction variant is client-specific.
A client-specific transaction variant can only exist in the client where it was created. The field contents of the transaction variant only have to be available in the particular client. A cross-client transaction variant is available in the system regardless of which client is currently active. The field contents of the transaction variant have to be available in all clients.

1. The ALV Grid Control is a tool with which you can output non-hierarchical lists in a
standardized format. The list data is displayed as a table on the screen.
The ALV Grid Control offers a range of interactive standard list functions that users need
frequently (find, sort, filter, calculate totals and subtotals, print, print preview, send list,
export list (in different formats), and so on. These functions are implemented in the
proxy object class. You as the programmer have the possibility to turn off functions not
needed. In most cases the implementations of the standard functions provided by the

Hi,
Transaction variants are created with transaction: SHD0
In the field Transaction on SHD0 enter the transactioncode for the screen you want tpo modify (E.g. VA03) . In the field Variant on SHD0 enter the name you want to give the transaction variant (E.g. ZVA03)
Press Create
Now the screen for the transaction is shown and you can enter default values in the fields of the screen
Press Enter. Now a screen that enbles you to make further customizing (Hide, Output only, Invisible, Mandatory) if the screen fields is shown.
After you have finished customizing the screen press Enter to go to the next screen or ave and exit to save the Transaction variant

How to Create a Temporary Table with SQL Server

I know you can create a temporary table in SQL Server 2000, but not quite sure how to do it in CFMX 7, i.e., does the SQL go inside a <CFQUERY dbtype="query"> tag?
I'm pulling the main set of records from an Oracle server (1st data source), but it does not contain employee names, only employee IDs. Since I need to show the employee name along with the Emp ID, I'm then pulling a list of "current" employee names from a SQL Server (2nd data source), which is the main database on our CF server.
I've got a QofQ that works fine, except it only matches EmpIDs that exist in both result sets. Employees who are no longer employed, don't match, and don't display. Since I can't do a LEFT OUTER JOIN with a QofQ, what I need to do is get the records from the Oracle server into the SQL Server. Preferably in a temporary table.
I was hoping if I could get those Oracle records written to a temp table on the main SQL Server, in same database as the Employee Name table, I could then write a normal <CFQUERY> that uses a LEFT OUTER JOIN.
I think I could probably write a Stored Procedure that would execute the SQL to create the temporary table, but am trying to avoid having to write the SP, and do it the simplest way.
This query will be a program that can be run hundreds of times per day, with a form that allows users to select date ranges, locations, and other options. That starts the queries, which creates the report. So I just need the temp table to exist only until all the SQL has run, and the <CFOUTPUT> has generated a report.
If the premise is right, I just need some help with the syntax for creating a SQL Server temp table, when you want to write records to it from an external data source. I'm trying the following, but getting an error:

But, I hate to have to create a table and physically write to it. For one, it seems slower, and doing it in temp would be in memory, and probably much faster, correct? Is there some way to code the above, so that it does something similar, but in a TEMPORARY TABLE? If I can figure out how to do this, I can pull data from multiple data sources and servers, and using SQL Server temp tables, work with the data as if it was all on the same SQL Server, and do some cool reports.
Everything I've done for the past few years, has all been from data from a single source, whether SQL Server, or another server. Now I need to start writing reports where data can come from 3 or 4 different servers, and be able to do joins (inner and outer). Thanks for any advice/help. Much appreciated.

While waiting to hear back, I was able to write the query results from an outside Oracle server, to a table on the local SQL Server, and do the LEFT OUTER JOIN required for the final query and report to work. That was with this syntax:

Note that if I didn't have the DROP TABLE in the beginning, the 2nd time you run this query, you get an error telling you the table already exists.

If you're trying to look at the documentation of java files and want to know everything about them w/o opening each file yourself you are probably going to need to write your own code to examine each .java file on a text level. As far as I know there isn't any special classes or API's out there that will automate the documentation process for every variable and method (including private ones) and also standard comments. If this is what you are trying to do then you will probably need to create it yourself. The other aspect is trying to decompile the class files but that too can be misleading and incorrect many times.

Suppose you are creating signs, street signs to be more specific. The width of each sign will be determined by the length of the text it contains. So you have a spreadsheet containing these [examples] and many more.

The goal would be to create a document (or, if it's easier, multiple) that contains spreads/pages whose widths are adjusted to fit the content. I would prefer to automate this process, like a data merge, rather than create each of the varied pages manually. I assume that creating each sign as a page will enable me to adjust bleeds and trim marks for the sign manufacturer more easily, but perhaps a sign maker might think that this is unnecessary. I've experimented a bit already by creating a large page (sized similar to a big sheet of aluminum) and using data merge to layout multiple textboxes (widths adjusting automatically) to a single page.
