How to create default MTD,YTD prompts at universe level.

I want to create default prompts for mtd and ytd at universe side.
Please  help me on this issue.

Hi
If the universe source is bex query, as per the best practice you can define all Predefined Time Periods like,
LY        Last Year
MTD     Month To Date
YTD      Year To Date
MTG     Month To Go
at the Bex query level. so complexity will be decreased while developing the universe  and performance also increase.

    (:P124_USER_ID, :P124_USER_NAME,:P124_USER_FIRST_NAME,:P124_USER_LAST_NAME,' ',:P124_USER_EMAIL_ID,'xxxx');

    The default workspace for the user is set as blanks. I would like to set it to be the default workspace as per the current logged in user.
    Can you help me with the syntax for this
    thank you in advance
    Laxmi

    Laxmi,
    The subject of the post is "How to create Default Schema from within the application".
    But your question asks how to set the "default workspace" for a newly created user.
    Those are different questions and not the ones I think you need answered.
    Let me answer this question "How can you set the default schema for an account when creating the account and set it to the same value used for the default schema attribute of the administrator account used to authenticate to the currently running application?".
    In the apex_util.create_user call use named parameter notation and fetch the information about the currently logged-in user first, e.g.,declare
      l_workspace               varchar2(256);
      l_user_name               varchar2(256);
      l_first_name              varchar2(256);
      l_last_name               varchar2(256);
      l_web_password            varchar2(256);
      l_email_address           varchar2(256);

      l_allow_access_to_schemas varchar2(256);
      l_person_type             varchar2(256);
      l_default_schema          varchar2(256);
      l_groups                  varchar2(256);
      l_developer_role          varchar2(256);
      l_description             varchar2(256);
    begin
    apex_util.fetch_user (
      p_user_id                  => apex_util.get_current_user_id,
      p_workspace                => l_workspace,
      p_user_name                => l_user_name,
      p_first_name               => l_first_name,
      p_last_name                => l_last_name,
      p_web_password             => l_web_password,

  • How to create a report in EM from scratch level ?

    Hi,
    Can anybody help me on this ?
    The report I want to create in EM is about where the user selects a target from a drop down and it shows the CPU utilization or memory Utilization for that respective target. Is it possible to create such kind of ? If Yes, How to create the report ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Are you sure you want to create a report for this info?
    As CPU and MEM utilization changes every second, what would be the use of a report?
    I assume you are aware of the fact that CPU and MEM utilization is included for instance in the Host Homepage and can also be included in Group Pages and Dashboards.

  • How to create a optional filter condition in Universe

    Dear All
    I am using BI 4.1 ( .Unv ) , we need to add a optional condition in Universe. I tried different ways to do it, but unable to do it correctly.
    In one of my approach, I created a report and put a optional prompt there then edited the SQL and copied that prompt condition and pasted that into a Universe condition. Then I used this filter into a report when i ran the report without selecting any value into the prompt it was throwing an error.
    Please suggest if there is any way by which we can do this.
    BO should have this functionality for better end user experience.
    Thanks,
    Mayur

    Hi Bill,
    Yes we are still using .unv as the universe we have is created in 2008 and since then we been migrating this through different versions.
    What I meant is a Filter which is created in the Universe and which has ability to act like a report level optional filter ..means if you select any value then it will fetch data for that selection else it will give data for all LOVs
    Yes BO has optional prompt functionality only for report level filter .. I mean when you pull a dimension into filter panel and select its value equal to prompt and in prompt properties you check mark the Optional Prompt option.
    The requirement is to create a Universe level filter which when used into a report then it should should have this optional prompt functionality. either users can run report with setting some value or without selecting anything.
    Thanks

  • How to create default column in XML schema ?

    Hi All,
    I would like to define a default column let's say Run_Date as Date datatype in XML schema definition (XSD) and would like to populate SYSDATE to the column Run_Date, When XML records are parsed to that schema.

    When I executed the above SQL, It only populates main data(Perosnal Details such as EmpNo,FirstName,LastName) but not attributes (Workhrs.Day,WOrkhrs.Hrs).
    Please let me know, how can I move those attributes data?

    what i do I couldn't call the non default constructor from the client! how can I pass my arguments in the constructor? worse yet, I tried to pass my arguments to another exposed WebMethod, guess what? the public or private variables i'm trying to update,
    do not get updated, what gives? any documentation on how to use web services? i'm pretty newbie at this. thanks

  • How to create reports with the prompts like the pre-defined reports ?

    We are analyzing pre-defined report: Historical Pipeline Analysis. When executed we can see the prompts for Pipeline Fiscal Quarter and Pipeline Fiscal Year.
    If we open this analysis I cannot see how this prompt have been built.
    If I save this pre-defined report (without any change) to My Folders and execute it from here, the prompts are gone.
    I´d appreciate any help.
    Antonio

    I have the same issue. The prebuilt reports are actually dashboards, which is why the dashboard prompt filters show up.
    I'm not sure how they get it to be a link like that on the reports tab (since the link doesn't point to a dashboard URL ).
    Any idea how to get this same effect assuming I built the dashboard/prompt around updated report?

  • How to create an optional indexed prompt?

    Hi,
    We are using WEBI 3.1. We are trying to create the following pre-defined filter prompt in the universe but does not work. Has anyone successfully built a WEBI report leveraging an indexed optional object used as a prompt?
    For example:
    @Select(Employee Class\Employee ID) in @Prompt('Select Employee:','A','Employee Class\Employee Name',Multi,primary_key,Persistent,,User:0,optional)
    If I create at the report level, the indexed Primary_Key is not pulling in for some reason. It does not pull in the ID. It ends up doing a Employee ID IN ('Name of Employee1', 'Name of Employee2') instead??
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Should work, though I never used the user:0 thing in universe definitions, just extra comma's
    Did you check the index in the employee name object, is it defined, parses, enabled?
    If you do a simple condition on the employee name object, does it translate to this index?
    Easy to check by checking the SQL before running the query.
    Making it optional in the query panel, does it still work?
    If you do a multiple without optional, does it still work?
    Making this optional in the query panel, does it still work?
    Look at the SQL generated, is it different from what you use?
    (I currently get
    Outlet_Lookup.Shop_id  =
    @prompt('Enter Store name:','A','Store\Store name',Mono,Constrained_key,Persistent,,User:0,KEY_'N',optional)
    in WebI where I also used to have primary_key.
    It may be a version difference, or the fact that it is side by side with BI40,
    but it may also hold a clue as to why it doesn't work.)
    Hope you can find what is wrong...
    Good luck,
    Marianne

  • How to create a hyperlink to prompt an email to a certain email address?

    If I want my readers to be able to click on the text "[email protected]" I want their email to automatically pop up with [email protected] as the recipient of the email they are composing.  Does anyone know how to do this manually?
    Thank you times infinity!
    Support will not help me because I am running Acrobat Pro 10.. =[
    -Krystal

    Hmm, it might be possible to do it with a script, then, but if the built-in function failed it means there's probably something wrong with the text, like a space in the middle or something, that could prevent a script from working as well.

  • How to create a dynamic parameter off a universe field

    Post Author: Summer Frend
    CA Forum: General
    Hello,
    I am trying to create a dynamic parameter in Crystal Reports off my universe field. However the fields appear to all come in as STRING with length 65534 (memo field?). Therefore the fields are not available to choose in my parameter creation box. NOTE: In the universe designer, the field is set as CHARACTER type. I am just trying to make it work with the sample universes that are shipped with BobJ.
    Is there a way in the Universe Designer to make the fields come into Crystal Reports as string fields so that I can choose them as the value for the dynamic parameter in Crystal Reports?
    Thanks,
    Summer Frend

    I'll try again,
    My problem is that I want a dynamic paramater for my Master flow (on START1 activity, so it is something like that : start1.param = select seq.nextval form dual; or from a function GET_PROCESS_ID) but it seems that I must give a permanent parameter it can not be set dynamicaly. I want my flow to be independant of any human intervention. So if it is the first load it does one thing if not the first load it does something else. I can not understand the point of having a parameter (in) that can not be set dynamicaly (looks more like a constant to me, or I'm missing something here). Hope your getting my point.
    Thanks again

    Now, I want to create contacts at the party site or account site level. Which API is used to create a contact? (I found a note 985500.1 but it shows creation of contact point such as a phone number or email but not the contact itself).
    Any pointers appreciated.

  • Optional prompt in Universe level

    Hi All,
    I am having a date prompt in a WebI report in which some default value will get display while refreshing the report. The issue is when ever we change the browser locale this default date value is not getting change.
    The prompt is coming from universe. In the prompt definition we have given the deafult value.
    The prompt definition is "@Select(Asset\Asset Install Date) between @Prompt('Enter Installation Date (Begin Date):','D',,mono,free,not_persistent,{'01/01/1970'},optional) and @Prompt('Enter Installation Date (End Date):','D',,mono,free,not_persistent,{'01/01/2020'},optional)".
    This default value which is there is not getting change according to the locale. Thats why we are planning to remove the default value in definition so that prompt will display calender to user to select the date values which is fine.
    The issue is when we make the prompt optional if user doesn't given any input value at that time prompts "Begin date","End Date" have to pick the default values. How to implement this ...?
    Any idea please help me out as this is very urgent requirement.

    Hi All, Any idea about above mentioned thread?
    Plz reply me ASAP...................

  • How to create a default Style for several Content Areas

    Hello,
    I have not been able to figure out how to create default styles/nav bars/etc... that can be used between SEVERAL Content Areas, and/or for any new Content Area. It seems to me that what is created in one Content Area, is not available for use in any other Content Area.
    Being that I'd like to keep the Administrative overhead as low as possible, I wonder if anyone has and/or knows how to create a default style, etc.. and use it with each Content Area across an Enterprise site???
    Many thanks for any information you may have!!

    Kahli,
    check out the Shared Objects node in the Content Area navigator.
    Good luck, Tony

  • How to Define a Required Prompt at the Universe Level

    Apologies if this has already been covered somewhere... I searched and can't find the topic covered yet.
    I've been under the impression for a long time that one could configure a Universe such that it would require a prompt on a dimension whenever that Universe was run, regardless of the tool or report.  For example, you could configure an eFashion Universe such that any report or analysis built against it (Webi, Crustal, Design Studio, Lumira, PowerQuery... whatever) would trigger a prompt, perhaps on Year or State.  The idea is that at the Universe you could prevent developers and self-service users from building "Select All" reports.
    However, even with the use of LOV flags in the Data Foundation and Business Layer (e.g. "Force users to filter values before use"), I can't figure out how to make it work.
    So, I have two questions...
    Is it possible to include required prompts/filters in the Universe definition?
    If so, how?
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Hi...
    Is it possible to include required prompts/filters in the Universe definition?
    Yes..it’s possible to include prompts at universe level,
    If all the reports are using same prompts, you can create at universe level and use same prompt in all the reports. You can define mandatory or optional prompt.
    Following is the syntax for the function.
    @Prompt('message','type',[lov],Mono|Multi,free|constrained|primary_key,persistent|not_persistent,[default_values])
    The following are simple examples of @Prompt syntax.
    Minimal use of the @Prompt function:
    @Prompt('Displayed text ','A',,,)
    Using the @Prompt with a LOV without default values:
    @Prompt('Displayed text ','A',{'Paris','London','Madrid'},,)
    Using the @Prompt with a LOV and one default value:
    @Prompt('Displayed text ','A',{'Paris','London','Madrid'},,,,{'Paris'})
    2 : If so, how?
    In the condition's SELECT or WHERE field, right-click at the place in the expression where you wantto add a prompt and
              select @Prompt editor from the shortcut menu.
    In the Message box, type the message that you want the user to see.
    Select Keep last value selected if you want the prompt to propose the values used for the previousreport.When the report is run for the first time, the default values (if any) are proposed.
    Select Allow multiple selection if the user can enter or select more than one value.
    Set the Selection mode. For Free selection, the user can enter any allowed value. For Constrainedselection, the user must select a value from a list of values. For Primary key, the user selects theobject name, but the object's primary key is used by the query. You can only use the Primary keysetting if Index Awareness is set.
    Note:
    When the Constrained option is selected and a List of Values is not specified, the corresponding Tab color turns to red, OK button is disabled, and on moving the cursor over the highlighted tab, the contextual tooltip displays a message indicating how to rectify the problem.
    Set the Value type for the selection mode: Alphanumeric, Number, or Date.
    If you have selected Primary key for the selection mode, set the Key type: Alphanumeric, Number,or Date.
    If you are using multiple selection, define the list of values. Do one of the following: you can type orimport a list of values, or you can select a universe object.
    Click the Default Values tab and define any default values. When you allow multiple selection, youcan set more than one default value.
    Click OK.
    The "@Prompt" editor closes and the prompt expression is visible in the condition's statement in the "Edit Properties" pane.
    Validate the prompt and click Parse.When the syntax is
