How to create material

Hi, I have an issue my company is into paints they sell same item in various sizes , say 1,5 , and 20 liter how do i create the material for the same in sale order if I enter 20 liters of 25 drums it should pick up 500 liters please suggest.

Using MM01/MM02 transactions in basic data1 view under additional data-> units of measure tab as below screenshot
Here you can define unit of measure(Liter) as you required (20 Liters = 25 drums), hope it will helpful for you.

    Hi ,
    The material group hierarchy and product heirarchy is used in SD of ECC 6.0 . These can be created in Logistics General -> Material Master-> settings for Key fields--> Data Relevant to Sales and Distribution-> 1)
    define product categories
    2)Define material groups
    But If you want to make of use of this in SRM ,I won't think it is available . I guess Probably this is avl for CRM .

    Hi,
    to start with you have to know some basic things, like if the material is for procurement then you enter as follows :
    1. Material No' - Whether internal or external, give as set.
    2. Industry Sector :- what kind of industry sector for the material.
    3. Material type :- whether raw material or semi-finished, etc.
    4. Select views :- Basic views required are Basic Data, Purchasing, Plant and Storage, Accounting1 and if subjected to MRP, select MRP view 1,2.
    5. Specify your plant / storage loc'n in Organizational details.
    6. Basic data - give Desc and various basic parameters for the material.
    7. Accounting view - get the valuation class for your material type from FICO and enter the class. Also select valuation price either S or V depending on your requirement.
    8. MRP view give the type of MRP you are using usually it will be manual re-order Pt plgg, Ro-order Point, MRP Controller for your plant, Lot size details.
    Hope this will give you some idea for MM Rec creation.

    In this step you create material groups.
    You also have the option of using the same transaction to carry out the following activities:
    Creating superior hierarchy levels
    Assigning the superior hierarchy levels to a material group hierarchy
    Assigning the base material group to the material group hierarchy
    Assigning characteristics profiles below material group level
    Requirements
    Your R/3 System is configured as an SAP Retail System.
    Activities
    1. Create superior hierarchy levels
       You create hierarchy levels using transaction WG01 (creating
       material groups) via menu options MG environment --> Hierarchy
       level --> Create
    2. Assign the superior hierarchy levels to a material group hierarchy
       You assign hierarchy levels to a hierarchy using transaction WG01
       (creating material groups) via menu options MG environment -->
       Hierarchy level --> Maint. MG hierarchy
    3. Create material groups (base material groups) and then maintain the
       pre-defined materials (reference material/material group material)
    4. Assign the base material group to the material group hierarchy

    When creating material groups and then maintaining the pre-defined materials (reference material/material group material) you should be aware of the following.
    As these materials can be created automatically using a minimum of data, you should follow this procedure with a check and possibly further maintenance, especially of plant-specific data. The material group reference material should be defined in as much detail as possible so as to keep the workload to a minimum when you have to create more materials for this material group.
    All hierarchy allocations involving a material group (base material group) and a higher or lower hierarchy level can be carried out on the initial screen (there is no need to switch to the detail screen). All further hierarchy allocations can be defined top-down when you maintain material group hierarchies.
    Only the material groups are transported automatically!

    I am not getting the error exactly. But have some suggestion:
    If the schema owner does not own the master tables, then the schema owner must have the GLOBAL QUERY REWRITE privilege or the QUERY REWRITE object privilege on each table outside the schema.

  • How to create materialized view based on a view?

    Hi,
    I hope this is not very far fetched idea.
    I have a very complex view and I would like to replicate it 'in place' that is I would like to make a materialized view that is based on this view complex view. I would like to use this materialized view (i.e table) to query data instead of using the original view, since it takes Oracle some 10-15 seconds to execute my query on the original view and I am not allowed to create indexes on most of the tables that are included in the original view.
    Can this be done?

    I created configurable material and assigned class and BOM and object dependencies as well as configurable profile its working fine.
    I need to create material variant so i assigned configurable material to material variant in MRP 3 view then selected the characterstics as per requirement. BOM also i assigned the configurable material. But at the time planning its not planning as per requirement also i need to consume the stock as per configuration at the time of sales order delivery.
    What are all steps to be followed, where i did mistake pls correct me.

    I am very clear  in configurable material  we can use only sales order. I did in my projects no issues.
    But material variant i have doubt, I tried once am not able get what i suppose to get.
    I read the sap help.From that what i understood  we can create PIR for material variant and can make stock thorugh the  order it will consume only whatever we selected from MRP 3 configurable material.
    If i make sales order for configurable material if the material variant and configurable material properties are same it will pick the stock. (For that in sales order item category (mat variant action) to be set).
    1.  Configure the configurable material in the sales order.
           2.      On the value assignment screen, you can already check whether material variants match the material configuration (see Variant Matching on the Value Assignment Screen).
    For a material to be replaced by the material variant in the sales order, the configuration of both materials must match exactly.
           3.      When you have configured the material, exit the configuration editor.
           4.      Depending on the settings in Customizing, the material is either replaced directly by the material variant, or a message is displayed indicating that a suitable material variant has been found.
           5.      If the material is replaced, the material variant is entered in the order item.
    Individual or collective requirements can be created for the material variant. Pricing is also carried out for the material variant, provided that you have not defined the configurable material as a pricing reference material for the material variant.
    So i have doubt on material variant only if  wrong pls correct.
