How to create odbc (dsn) connection for OBIEE AND INFOR in unix environment

Hi,
we are establishing OBIA in Unix environment we set all the things fine but we are getting problem how to create ODBC connection
for INFORMATICA AND OBIEE. I searched some blogs thats telling there is a ODBC.INI file we need to configure.
but i am not getting clear idea to give parameters and it will not showing any TNSNAME ..........etc
please any body give clear idea about how to create ODBC connection and LOCATION of that file AND parameter which i need to give.

yah i already checked that one but i have not find out any parameter for TNS NAME information.
is OBIEE connected to ORACLE DATA BASE without giving TNS information?............in UNIX OPERATING SYSTEM.
pls give me the clear idea abt how to connect OBIEE, INFORMATICA to ORACLE DATA BASE IN UNIX ENVRNMENT

I first posted a question in the SQL forum but I'm posting it here instead because its a Powershell question.
In a non-persitent VDI enviroment we are trying to automatically create a ODBC DSN connection to a SQL server.
We are using Windows 8.1 so we also have Powershell 4 together with the add-odbcdsn cmdlet.
But when trying to add set -SetPropertyValue for network port different than default and a password we get an error.
here is the command:
Add-OdbcDsn -Name test -DriverName "SQL Server" -DsnType User -SetPropertyValue @("PWD=test", "SERVER=10.0.0.1")
and here is the error message:

NB!: this command does not contain a port number, but when adding it without a password(PWD string) we just the default port.

Agree with Jrv, we cannot store UID and PWD in an ODBC datasource, For example, you can create a DSN using the user interface but if you look at the DSN stored in the registry the UID and PWD are not stored.
ODBC it is always required when you connect using a DSN that the caller supply UID and PWD if they want to use standard login during connection time.

Are you asking how to connect to an Oracle database from OBIEE in Unix? (Your question is too vague as datamart could mean anything) If so, read this thread:

Thank you for posting the screen shots I have been unsuccessful in determining exactly where the problem is coming from. Would it be possible for you to post the actual VI so that I can work with it so see if I can reproduce this issue using your code? In regard to your questions:
1.    You are correct 1000 samples read should write 1000 samples to the table
2.    I believe the discrepancy is due to amount of manipulation done between the read and the file write but I cannot be certain, without the code to work with.
3.    I am unclear as to exactly what is happening. If you are reading empty channels then you may receive erroneous readings this is to be expected. When you connected your accelerometer did you connect in RSE or differential? You can also manipulate the signal range with will affect the gain setting, how off are the readings?

Automatically create ODBC DSN connection with powershell or GPO

Hi,
I'm trying to create a ODBC connection that has a special network port and also password automatically stored.
I have tried to do this with the add-odbcdsn cmdlet and adding attributes to a group policy object configuration without luck.
If I try to export settings with regedit and import them trough logonscript, the normal users dont have user rights to the LOCAL Machine hive.
Therefore I have tried to export a USER DSN instead, but either of the port or password settings are exported.
Please help.

Hi Sunil,
Your problem Subject and Description doesnot match. If you need to transfer your RPD from Windows to Unix, here are the steps. In fact there is nothing complicated involved.
Hope you have OBI already installed in the Unix machine,
1. Ftp your RPD from Windows machine to the Unix server.
2. Put it in the $SAROOTDIR/server/Repository path
3. Make changes in the NQSConfig.ini file, if needed
4. Bounce the OBI Admin service
But if you need to change the connection pool details on Unix, that is another story altogether.

How to create a special effect for 'wipe' and 'wheel'

New to Captivate. Recently purchased Captivate 7. I'm trying to obtain an object 'add effect' similar to the "wipe" (from left) and the "wheel" animation effects found in PowerPoint. I want to simulate hand-drawing an emphasis line under text. I have a .png graphic of a hand-drawn red line (transparent background) that I'd like to appear by "wiping" from left to right. The "stretch" effect (from left to right) found in Captivate's "Add Effect" doesn't look right; it's obviously a 'stretch' instead of a 'wipe'. Likewise, I would like to hand-draw a circle or oval around certain text or other objects to draw attention to these items. The "wheel" animation in PowerPoint works perfectly for this.
Is there a way to do this in Captivate? Maybe some variation of one of the built-in effects that I've missed? Camtasia Studio has "sketch motion graphics" built in - which also does this nicely.

Thanks for the info on Infosemantics and their widgets. As a Newbie I wasn't aware of them and their cool, useful products. However, after going through all the tutorials I couldn't figure out how the 'slider' widget would serve my need to simulate a hand-drawn line, from left to right, under text on a Captivate 7 slide. Yes, it can be used to animate (or move) any object, but not to "reveal" an object like the "wipe" animation in other programs.
I'm thinking now that it would be easier to just build an animated GIF or a small flash file to show a hand-drawn red line moving from left to right. I have Flash CS4 but have never used it. Something else new to learn.

While creating CURRENCY/QUANTITY fields in the DataBase Table, you have to enter a REFERENCE TABLE and a REFERENCE FIELD to the field.
For that, after entering the field name and the data type in the correcponding columns, you have to place the cursor on the data type of the required field and click the CURRENCY/QUANTITY FIELDS tab. You will find two columns called REFERENCE TABLE and a REFERENCE FIELD.
you have to enter a reference table in which a currency/quantity field is used and a reference field which is a currency/quantity field in that table.
For Example, below is the table details.
FIELD DATATYPE LENGTH DEC.PLACES REF.TABLE REF.FIELD
1.SNO     CHAR 5
2.AMOUNT CURR 10     2          T001      WAERS
3.NOS     QUAN 5                 KNA1      /VSO/R_PAL_UL
Here Field 2(AMOUNT) is a CURR field whose Ref. Table is T001 and Ref. Field is WAERS and Field 3(NOS) is a QUAN field whose Ref. Table is KNA1 and Ref. Field is /VSO/R_PAL_UL.

Issue with creating oracle ODBC DSN connection

We have BO X! 3.1. We have created some webi reports. Our universe connection is created using following method.
= Created a DSN connection for oracle 10g database
= created Bo connection object by selecting Generic ODBC connection
= in the service name we have given DSN name and tested successfully.
we have created reports universe under Windows environment.
= Now we deployed Biar file of the same on SOLARIS server.
We have created odbc connection in odbc.ini on solaris.
we have used path "/../boxir3/bobje/odbc.ini"
We have used "/BOXIR3/bobje/enterprise120/solaris_sparc/odbc/lib/libsqora.so.10.1" driver
But when we test connection after deployment connection fails. giving error
" A database error occured. The database error text is:. (WIS 10901)"
Can anybody suggest me right method to create ODBC connection for oracle 10g on SOLARIS.

You said your odb.ini is at the location "/../boxir3/bobje/odbc.ini". Verify if environment variable ODBCINI is pointing to this location. For this do a echo $ODBCINI. This should return the path of your odbc.ini file. If this command returns empty, that means this variable is not set. In this case you will have to set your ODBCINI using the below command.
If you are using bash shell
export ODBCINI=/../boxir3/bobje/odbc.ini.
if this does not work try
set ODBCINI=/../boxir3/bobje/odbc.ini

How to create a private network for OCFS2 in OVS 2.2.1

Does anyone know how to create a separate netwok for ocfs2 and leave the regular vm traffic on the main network.
I have done the following
- configured 3 vm servers connected fia fibre channel to a SAN
- Bonded 2 network cards on each server to provide 1 bridge on each. (172 network)
- Installed a 3rd network card in each server and configured on a 10 network with a separate switch.
so my servers are called bart, lisa, flanders
I can communicate between them effectively and the VM manager on a different server can talk to them all.
I have also configured entries for bart2, lisa2, flanders2
which are on the 10 network. I can ping and talk between these successfully.
I can't however configure the cluster.conf to use the bart2, lisa2, flanders2 as it has a problem with the names not matching the local name of the machine.
Im not sure if changing the server name will affect the VM agent.

Basically, Oracle VM uses the IP address you specify when adding the Oracle VM server to configure OCFS2 and Live
Migration. So you should use the private ip when adding the server.
Then, the "regular" VM guests network traffic will be on the network/bridge/bond the guest itself belongs to.

this is how i embedded the code

According to the installation instructions for that driver:
The driver is com.caucho.jdbc.mysql.Driver
The url is jdbc:mysql-caucho://hostname:port/database
You used something else for the driver name. So it doesn't work. By the way, I found those instructions here: http://www.caucho.com/projects/jdbc-mysql/
