  • How to create a data load file from Excel !!!

    Hi All,
I'm new to HFM and would like to load data into an HFM application. As I have an Excel file with all the data. When I'm directly loading the data it throws an error saying "No section has been specified to determine if this is data, description or line item detail". How can I convert this excel file into proper format (.dat) file understandable by HFM ?

There are several ways to get this data into HFM.
    1) FDM - best option if you have it
    2) Webforms/Data Grids
    3) HsSetValue formulas in Excel
    4) DAT file loads
    5) JVs, etc
If you wish to use DAT files created via Excel, you will likely want to use Excel VBA macros to create your DAT file to load. We do this on occasion for special projects and it works quite well. What you can do is set up an Excel file with your data inputs to look however you want, then link your POV members and amounts to another tab (we commonly call this the Export tab and it is set up in an HFM-friendly format).
Create a macro to write a DAT file to a specified location using data from the Export tab. The DAT file will need to be formatted as below. For a specific sample, you can extract data from your HFM app and see the format.
    !Data
    Scenario;Year;Period;View;Entity;Value;Account;ICP;Custom1;Custom2;Custom3;Custom4;Amount
    Scenario;Year;Period;View;Entity;Value;Account;ICP;Custom1;Custom2;Custom3;Custom4;Amount
    Scenario;Year;Period;View;Entity;Value;Account;ICP;Custom1;Custom2;Custom3;Custom4;Amount
    Scenario;Year;Period;View;Entity;Value;Account;ICP;Custom1;Custom2;Custom3;Custom4;Amount
    Scenario;Year;Period;View;Entity;Value;Account;ICP;Custom1;Custom2;Custom3;Custom4;Amount
Brush up on Replace, Merge, or Accumulate load options in the HFM Admin and User Guides, then upload your new DAT file.

  • How can I create a data file?

I'm back. I found the CFA & PEF files and I am getting ready to go to work and delete all these on all my drives.
What I need to know now is how to create a data only file on a DVD for back up.  I have successfully burnt a DVD in Encore, but I do not want to use that as a back up
I feel like it would be degraded somewhat. Besides it is an Encore file.
What I want is a Premiere file from CS4. This way I can always go back to it and make any changes or edits in the original time-line.
If I can do this I was planning on using a DVD-RW so I could make changes later on.
I also want to make a transfer DVD to install my projects on another computer. This will be a Video only computer with no internet connection to mess with my OS and slow things down.
    Thanks Again

For the Projects, the trick will be the Asset files. If they will fit onto DVD DL discs, you're OK. If they are too large (DV-AVI is ~ 13GB per hour), then you'll need some type of backup, or spanning software, that will write files across multiple discs. A better choice, IMO, would be a 1 - 2 TB external, where you can use Project Manager, or just Windows Explorer and Copy, to do the entire Project folder with Assets. I'd recommend against a USB and go at least for FW-400. FW-800 would be better, but you'll need FW-800 connections on your computer. eSATA would be the best, but then you'll need eSATA connectors.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How do I create a data file of my library

I would like to create a data file that will list artist/album for my iTunes library. I would like to put this on my iPod so that I know exactly which albums I have so I do not buy duplicates when I am out rummaging at used record stores. How do I go about doing this besides typing the whole thing in Appleworks?

Creating such a list as pdf file is quite easy:
    In iTunes select your Library
File - Print: Album Listing/List of albums
    Print - Save as PDF
If in need of any conversion: copy all entries from that pdf and paste it to whatever application you want.

  • How  to  Create a PSD file  in C#

How  to  Create a PSD file  in C#

Converting an image file to .psd is easy in Aperture - just export the image version with one of the export presets "PSD - Original size" or   "PSD - Half size".
But I suspect, that will not solve your problem, since you are trying to create a watermark in Aperture and probably want to create a transparent background for the watermark, to give it an arbitrary shape. That cannot be done in Aperture. Aperture does not support compositing and layers. If you want to create an image of an arbitrary shape with a transparent background you need to use  a program that supports compositing. Since you do not have Photoshop, you could try the free GIMP instead (afaik, there is no Lion version of GIMP; the most recent version is Mt. Lion only; you could try if the Snow Leopard version works on your system).
Any program that you own, that lets you write or draw on a transparent background will be fine. The Watermark file does not necessarily need to be a psd-file. A png will also work. You can also use Preview to convert between image formats or to annotate an image with text.

  • How to create .ctl (control file) to calide excel rows in ssis ?

In my package i have a requirement to use .ctl control file to valide excel rows. can anyone tell me how to create a .ctl file which will have all of this information.

    A few assumptions 1st:
    1) I understood the .ctl file can be any ASCII (flat) file of arbitrary format; and that
    2) You will drive the validation rules.
Since you seem like want to apply the validation as the first step in your package I advocate plugging the Script Transformation task in which happens to expose the "ProcessInputRow" method that in turn allows a developer to intercept each row for inspection.
This is where you will need to apply much thinking to how to make the validation rules applied in retrospect to the incoming data.
You drive the code (logic). More through help is a click away here http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/193855/An-indespensible-SSIS-transformation-component-Scr which only covers how to make the row-by-row processing possible.
If you expected SSIS to have this functionality provided for free - unfortunately this is not happening.
One of many reason is, what you want to do is extremely laborious.

  • How to create a pdf file from multiple images ?

    Dear All,
I want to create a SINGLE page pdf file from two or more page size images that are combined to make a single page pdf. Again, this question is on pdfs that are made out of several, atleast  two color images and a black-and-white mask for one of them.
I have such pdf files from an unknown source (the producer is edited out) whereby there are three tiff images, obtained using the well known pdfimages extractor.
When I want to make a pdf out of tiff or png or other image formats, I right click and tell Adobe Acrobat to make a pdf.
However, I dont know how I can give a command to select say,  three tif images and specify which is the mask for which and then join  them in a way that I get the pdf from the composite of the two color images and a mask for one of them.
    Please help me out.
I am a little familiar with the pdf structure skeleton and when necessary, fixed xref tables in one of my favorite editors. A few years ago, I also wrote a bunch of javascripts to make some annotations and needed some automation and used some itext type libraries. However, I need your help in this problem as I am now rusty and forgot some of what I studied to solve my earlier problems. This is a new problem for me. Gentle hints from you would be very nice to help me in this problem. Please specify if necessary what manual and pages to read. in the pdfspec.

I would gladly mention that I am working on windows platform, preferably XP.
I can also work on linux for free products that come with it.

Well, just add the few pdf stanzas since you are proficient on it and
I am presently a little rusty as I mentioned. Just asking a little
extra yard, not even to go an extra mile.

Well, ascii format or uncompressed format that is human readable. I
know its a binary file, but human readable ascii version of it.
I hope you can give me some stanza and various other approaches
possible so I can select or combine things for myself. I see only a
miniscule number of posts claiming to have written masks in this forum
    and then with no details.

  • How to update cgicmd.dat file during runtime?

I'd like to know how do update cgicmd.dat file during runtime. For example, I run a report one.jsp as
    http://<machine>:<port>/reports/rwservlet?one.jsp&USERID=uid/pwd@db&DESTYPE=cache&mode=bitmap&desformat=htmlcss
within this report there is a hyperlink to open another report named two.jsp.
before creating this hyperlink, I'd like to update cgicmd.dat file with passed in userID, pwd, and connection, so two.jsp can use this key for userinfo
so I can create hyperlink as follows
    srw.set_hyperlink('/reports/rwservlet?report=two.jsp'||
    '&cmdkey=userinfo&DESTYPE=cache&mode=bitmap&desformat=htmlcss');
    Thanks

To my knowledge the cgicmd.dat is only read when the OC4J starts, so you would have to come up with another solution. Using Single-Sign-On (SSO) is quite a good idea, and it's there for cases like this.
