How to create type pools

Hi Experts,
I have a query like can we create custom "type pools". if yes, then what are the steps to create it.
Thank you in advance.
Samad.

hi..
Pls check the f1 help in ur system.
It gives u  simple examples. Anyway,
Typepool falls under - Data types.
Data Types
You can define program-local data types in ABAP programs that can be used for typing or declaring additional data types and data objects according to validity and visibility.
The corresponding statements are:
1. TYPE-POOLS
2.  TYPES
3.  INCLUDE TYPE
TYPE-POOLS
Syntax
TYPE-POOLS tpool.
Effect
Declaring global data types and constants from a type group.
The TYPE-POOLS statement declares the data types and constants of type group tpool You can specify it in the global data declarations of an ABAP program or in the declaration section of a class or interface. The data types and constants of the type group are visible as of this statement in the current context.
Notes
If the declared type group tpool integrates a further type group with the TYPE-POOLS statement, its data types and constants are also declared.
,,Data types declared using type groups cover ABAP Dictionary data types of the same name.
Example
Declaration of the predefined type group abap. By referring to the table type abap_func_parmbind_tab from the type group abap, the system declares an internal table parameter_tab for the dynamic parameter transfer to function modules.
TYPE-POOLS abap.
DATA parameter_tab TYPE abap_func_parmbind_tab.

    how to create our own Type-pools?for using alv?

    hi,
    This is taken directly from the HELP.
    Type Groups
    Before Release 4.5A, it was not possible to define standalone types in the ABAP Dictionary to which you could refer using a TYPE addition in an ABAP program. It was only possible to refer to flat structures. Structures in programs corresponded to the structures of database tables or structures in the ABAP Dictionary. In ABAP programs, you could only refer to database tables and structures in the ABAP Dictionary using LIKE. It was, however, possible to refer to individual components of the Dictionary type. Complex local data types such as internal tables or deep structures had no equivalent in the ABAP Dictionary. The solution to this from Release 3.0 onwards was to use type groups. Type groups were based on the include technique, and allowed you to store any type definitions globally in the Dictionary by defining them using TYPES statements.
    The definition of a type group is a fragment of ABAP code which you enter in the ABAP Editor. The first statement for the type group <pool> is always:
    TYPE-POOL <pool>.
    After this came the definitions of data types using the TYPES statement, as described in Local Data Types in Programs. It was also possible to define global constants using the CONSTANTS statement. All the names of these data types and constants must begin with the name of the type group and an underscore:
    In an ABAP program, you must declare a type group as follows before you can use it:
    TYPE-POOLS <pool>.
    This statement allows you to use all the data types and constants defined in the type group <pool> in your program. You can use several type groups in the same program.
    Let the type group HKTST be created as follows in the ABAP Dictionary:
    TYPE-POOL hktst.
    TYPES: BEGIN OF hktst_typ1,
    col1(10) TYPE c,
    col2 TYPE i,
    END OF hktst_typ1.
    TYPES hktst_typ2 TYPE p DECIMALS 2.
    CONSTANTS hktst_eleven TYPE i VALUE 11.
    This type group defines two data types HKTST_TYP1 and HKTST_TYP2, as well as a constant HKTST_ELEVEN with the value 11.
    Any ABAP program can use this definition with the TYPE-POOLS statement:
    TYPE-POOLS hktst.
    DATA: dat1 TYPE hktst_typ1,
    dat2 TYPE hktst_typ2 VALUE '1.23'.
    WRITE: dat2, / hktst_eleven.
    The output is:
    1,23
    11
    The data types defined in the type group are used to declare data objects with the DATA statement and the value of the constant is, as the output shows, known in the program.

           END OF hktst_typ1.

  • How dynamically create connection pool and Datasource

    Hi
    How I can dynamically create a connection pool and Data source in Oracle 10g Application server. In our J2EE application the user will be login with db user name, password and database name. I want to create connection pool and data source on the fly while login the user with database name. I our application we have access approximate 80 Databases. so my approach is given bellow
    1) Planning to create 80 connection pools and 80 Data sources so when user logs in while selecting the db name i will call the appropriate data source and create the DB connection. Is there any limitation to create number of data sources in oracle app server?
    2) Create DB connection with out using connection pool and data source. But i am not prefer this approach coz we need to handle some transaction in our application.
    Kindly throw some light on managing connection pool programmatically or in application run time.
    I would really appreciate if any one can provide any links or any inormation on this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Kindly let me know is there any drawbacks to create 80 Data Sources to connect 80 database in Oracle 10G App server and each data sources should have one connection pool. so i need to create 80 connection pool. Please let me know is this right approach or any work around to create Data source on fly for each request for corresponding database.

    Oracle docs at tahiti.oracle.com contain exactly the info you need as said previous poster. You can look into SQL reference about MV create statement that contains a brief overview of all types as well as data warehousing guide which contains at least 4 chapters that are about MVs - Basic MV, Advanced MV, Basic query rewrite and Advanced query rewrite.

    please help me...this module is very very urgen to me..

    I spent many hours when i first implemented connection pooling trying to put it together. The information is scattered and the config has changed slightly from 5.0 to 5.5 etc. This is how I got it working in 5.5.17:
    * server.xml seems to be a wrong place for the pool configuration if you consider it to be an application specific thing. It might be a better idea to put it into C:\tomcat55\conf\Catalina\localhost\ConfigFileForYourWeapp.xml as follows:
    <Context path="/ClientLink" docBase="C:\eclipseWorkspace\PortfolioUI3\WebRoot">
          <Resource name="jdbc/testportfolios" auth="Container"
                         type="javax.sql.DataSource"
                         factory="org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory"
                         username="****" password="******"
                         driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
                         url="jdbc:mysql://192.168.0.101:3306/testportfolios?user=***********&password=***********&useUnicode=true&characterSet=swedish"
                         maxWait="10000" maxActive="30" maxIdle="10" removeAbandoned="true"
                         removeAbandonedTimeout="60" logAbandoned="true" testWhileIdle="true"
                         minEvictableIdleTimeMillis="4000"
                         timeBetweenEvictionRunsMillis="60000" validationQuery="SELECT '1'" />
          </Context>* Then add the following snippet into web.xml in your webapp directory:
    <resource-ref>
                    <description>Database pool defined in ClientLink.xml</description>
                    <res-ref-name>jdbc/testportfolios</res-ref-name>
                    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
                    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
               </resource-ref>* Next put the jdbc-driver jar in a place where tomcat can find it. That is common\lib. Note that the shared/lib does not work.
    * Get connections in java as follows:
                    try {
                         Context initCtx = new InitialContext();
                         DataSource ds = (DataSource) initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/testportfolios");
                         this.connection = ds.getConnection();
                    } catch (NamingException e) {
                         throw new RuntimeException("Java naming exception when getting connection from tomcat pool: " + e.getMessage());
                    }I hope that this helps you to save the time I lost figuring this out!

  • How to create Type Def constants

    I tried doing some searching but I just see stuff on enums vs rings.
    I am trying to set up HW configuration. I have multiple boards I am talking to and would like to combine the IO into 4 arrays. DI, DO, AI, and AO. I can do this fine but I am worried if the designer decides to insert/change one IO point. (e.g. Board 1 slot 2 is an input and it is desired to change to an output). This would of course shift every point after that alteration by 1 and I would have to go through all of the code from the ground up an modify it. Instead it seems I should be able to create a I32 cons array that is a type def used through out the code that would look something like the following:
    [i32 array]
    0
    1
    2
    15
    3
    4
    5
    6
    16
    7
    8
    The idea is that at initial design the array was likely 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 etc but since slot 2 was changed it ended up being 15 and I just have to shift the type def constant. I would then use the type def constant to map the data properly before it reaches any of the other code.
    Am I missing something or is there no way to have constants update in this manner??? Only enums? that seems poor

    I usually simulate the CONST by using a vi that returns the constant.  An example is pi (YES I KNOW THIS IS ALREADY PROVIDED BY LV) place the double constant 3.14.....on the block diagram, and wire it to an indicator, select one terminal and wire it out.  Change the icon and your done.  This is different from the saved value typedef in one important way, the data can not be changed without opening the vi, which can be protected.  this can be used in conjunction with a typdef for complex data types.    An example of this is a version cluster, having a major, minor and revision integer inside of a cluster, typedef this and then make a vi called application version use the typdef for the constant on the diagram and the indicator out of the CONST Vi.  This is my prefered method to simulate a CONST in labview.  This is not as elegant as a preprocessor directive in C but it works nicely.

    That's the way I do it, too.  This method, combined with blanking the B&W icon of the VI and drawing an icon that doesn't use all the space of the 256 color slot lets you create something effectively similar to the primitive constants NI has.

  • How to create a Pooled VDI infrastructure using Win server 2012 as VM image?I have followed the "usual" way to build a pooled VDI desktop using Win7 or Win8 with success, but it fails when I use an image of Win Server 2012 as VM

    I have followed the "usual" way to build a pooled VDI desktop using Win7 or Win8 with success, but it fails when I use an image of Win Server 2012 as VM instead.
    Am I overlooking something?  Should I need to prepare the image in a different way? (Sysprep differently?)
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Can you specify the error which you are facing during VDI setup for server 2012?
    I might think that you need to check the memory setting for server 2012, as might happens that due to less memory you can’t setup the VDI setup properly.
    Memory: If the Master VM is configured with static memory, it must have at least 1024 MB as startup RAM. If the Master VM is configured with dynamic memory, the maximum RAM must be at least 1024 MB.
