How to debug during Web Dynpro Test...from SAP Pop-Up Window?

How can I go into SAP logic in test mode when my WebDynpro is being displayed with an SAP Pop-up? I want to jump into SAP debug from there into SAP code....Thank-You.

In the Popup application that opens in the web, right click on any UI element in the window.
The right clicked context window displays an option "More help field"
Click on that.
Here you are given the Technical Information for UI Element.
Here you would be given the webdynpro Component name and the webdynpro view name
Now logon to the SAP system, click on SE80
Select the menu tab repository browser
In the drop down select the WebDynpro Comp/Intf
Input the webdynpro name here
Look for the view that was displayed in the technical component under this component
Click on the view and navigate to the Methods tab.
Double click on the WDDOINIT method and place a breakpoint here. This is the first point thats hit after the event handler of the inbound plug is executed.

Hi Kaushik,
You can add the existing zip file into your workspace by the following way -
First open the NWDS and create a new project by clicking file -> new -> Project -> Simple -> Project
and then File -> Import -> zipfile and then browse the zip file into the newly created project.
or else you can also unzip the zip file into a folder and then Use the option of Import an exisitng project into workspace. You can find this in the File-> import -> Existing project into workspace. and then use the Browse option to browse to the existing folder.
After importing the project you need to rebuild the project

Since I do not have a VS2012 environment, according to your provided link, I created a test demo with VS2013, however, both ways catch the validation error:
If possible, you could have a try with VS2013 to see if it works or run the example on other machine with VS2012 to see if this is caused by the VS environment, in my side, I do not change any configuration, all are default.

Debug a Web Dynpro Java Application.

Hi All,
I am trying to debug a Web Dynpro for java application, however I am getting this error whenever i try to do
Failed to connect to remote VM. connection refused.
I tried the following options that were suggested in few Threads
1) I have the J2EE server running in Debug mode,
2) I also ensured that there is no one else using the NWDS in debug mode
3) I restarted the NWDS and the portal server several time.
Are there any other suggestions apart from the ones mentioned above?
the following thread talks about locking of port [link|NWDS: Debug: Failed to connect to remote VM. Connection refused.;. I doubt if that could be the issue.
Can someone suggest how to identify the port is locked and how to unlock it?

Hi Bharath,
1) Check if you are following the procedure as mentioned at the following link:

2) Please do check whether the Server Instance Debug Mode is "ON"
You can check it from NWDS >J2EE Engine View>Server Instance>server0
If its not then you need to change it and any Basis Team can help you.
3) If it is running in the debug mode then please ensure that there is no one else debugging on the same server node. Generally there is only one instance configured for debugging. If someone is using the same server node instance for debugging then you might have to ask for closing that debug session to continue with your debugging.
4) Check whether you are using the correct server for debugging. Most of the we make mistake while configuring the debug server

What do you mean with real time scenario? Do you talk about runtime?
NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS) is only for design time and you install it on the local PC/laptop of the developer. The 'connection' between NWDS and engine is specified in the preferences (Window->Preferences->SAP J2EE engine) of NWDS. The development track is in 'real life' (e.g. if the engine is a remote one) connected with support from SLD (System Landscape Directory) which is a tool for managing the NWDI (NetWeaver Development Infrastructure). In normal case, there are so-called 'development configurations' that can be imported into NWDS (Window->Preferences->Java Development Infrastructure).
For starting and stopping the engine, there are several possibilities: SAP MMC, view in NWDS or console.
If you've a central server, you connect your NWDS to this central server and then you can deploy to this central server.

How to delete deployed Web Dynpro Content ?

How can i delete a deployed Web Dynpro Application from my portal ?
Due to all these tests and trials there are a lot of useless WDApps in my portal.
Did not find anything in help.sap.com or in the portal.

You can remove the deployed components through either SDM or through Visual administrator
1) In SDM, you will find a tab 'UnDeployment'. In this view, you will be able to see all the applications currently deployed. Select the applications that you want to undeploy and proceed to undeploy.
2) In Visual Administrator, under Server->Services->Deploy, you will find a radio button 'Application'. From here too you can select the required application and remove them.

Debugging a web dynpro application

Hi,
I need to debug a abap web dynpro application from the internet browser. I only have the application URL and i don't know the component name and application name. So i can't put a break point in the methods.
I there a way by which we can call a debugger dynamically from the browser without knowing the WD component.

I think you got your answer to your original post answered from Patrick and my earlier post (about what application is used in URL etc)
About the More Field-Info:
I checked the said scenarios again:
User with only my Basis ESS Roles: No Field Info available.
User with SAP_ALL: Field Info Available
User with my Basis ESS Roles and Content-Admin and System-Admin: No field Info available
It seems to be dependant on some authority from R3, and since you say it works for you if the user has sysadmin and content-admin roles, I would take a look at the identity management in portal for your sysadmin and content admin portal roles. Take a look at the assigned R3-Roles and look within these which authorities are given. Maybe this will unveil something. I cannot check this in my system since our portal identity management works differently.
Alternatively, maybe somebody with deeper knowledge pops up and delights you with the sample solution )

CRM2007 How to add a Web Dynpro ABAP application to a CRM business role

I am investigating CRM2007 UI framework and I cannot seem to find a way to add a custom made Web Dynpro ABAP Application (created in CRM 4.0) to a business role, or how to add a custom transaction created in classic ABAP (transaction created via se93, progam created via se38). Whatever I do, I only see BSP components. I am using transaction BSP_WD_CMPWB.
Next to this it seems you can add/integrate Visual Composer applications to (there is an entry in spro called "integration of the visual composer in BI"). However, I presume we first have to meet the requirements for the portal integration in SAP CRM 2007 as described in spro. If somebody knows how this works, that would be great!

Hello Angelique,
It should be possible to call web dynpro applications from the L-shape menu of CRM UI (check transaction CRMC_UI_NBLINKS). As for the old GUI transactions, you can embedd them also via transaction launcher using CRMC_UI_NBLINKS (search for "transaction launcher" in this forum, there is plenty of information on it).

Using Web Dynpro WDUrlGenerator from within J2EE Application deployed on NW

I have two applications deployed on a NetWeaver Application Server 2004s.
1. A Web Dynpro application.
2. A J2EE Application
What I want to do is to be able to build a url to the Web Dynpro application from within the J2EE application. Obviously the problem is using Web Dynpro classes within the J2EE application.
So I edited the Java Build Path of the J2EE application to include the werbdynproservices.jar file and exception.jar files by extending ECLIPSE_HOME variable in the libraries section. I also checked them in Order and Export. I verified the built .war file and it does contain the two .jar files.
This was sufficient to get my project build and deployed, however the servlet in my J2EE application shows NoClassDefFoundException when I run it. My guess is there's more I need to do to get the WDUrlGenerator to run in my J2EE class.
Is this possible or is there a better way? I am trying to avoid the client having to modify a web.xml for each depployment.

This looks like what I want, but I am unable to test it.
I found the application-j2ee-engine.xml file under the <project-root>/gen_wdp folder. I then attempted to open it with the SAP EARDD editor. It opens with the Source tab selected. If I try to click the General tab I get an error saying:
"The source page has errors. Other pages cannot be used until these erros are corrected."
I see nothing wrong with the XML document. It's source is here:

How to find out web-inf path from the physical drive?
I have some user profiles in web-inf directory.SO I want to know the path from root directory like
d:/program files/allaire/jrun/appname/web-inf/profiles/username like that.
Presently I am able to get the path upto the application directory and from that I am concatinationg web-inf/profiles/username .
But it is giving problems when it is deployed under unix or linux.Because web-inf there it treats as WEB_INF
SO I want to get the path of web-inf directory with out hard coding.

Note sure why you need this, but you don't need the real path to read the file - you can get an InputStream using the relative path. See ServletContext getResource() and getResourceAsStream().

Error while creating web dynpro project from DTR

Hello,
I am getting following error while creating Web Dynpro project from DTR,
org.eclipse.jdt.core.JavaModelException: File /<track name><DC><package>/.classpath is read-only.
Still project gets created but evenif I check out view , it does not allow me to edit it.
Also I have checked in and activated some changes but active copy in DTR is not reflecting those changes.
I tried Add subtree option in DTR perspective for folders in this project. Is it result of that?
Please help me in this regard.

Hi Beena,
.classpath file should not checked in to DTR(uncheck the Read only properties). It is local file it contains class path for local system.
Generally in webdynpro project only src folder should be checked in DTR.

Not able to run web dynpro application from portal.

I want to run my web dynpro application from portal.
So created a seperate iview and a role for the purpose.
Assigned the iview to the role and also mapped a abap user id to the new role created.
But when I click on 'preview' the iview , getting the following dump.

Are you able to run teh web dynpro application independtly i.e. without creatin an iview.

or there also you are getting the error.
i guess there also you should be gettign the error.
this is some problem with the FQDN settings in the abap system.
in the host name of the web dynpro applciation server one .(dot) is must.
so you might have to change the host name to some thing like mnghcmsap. from mnghcmsap
