How to debug reports in Reports 10g
Hi,
I'm customizing one R12 seeded report.Seeded report is working fine but when I modify the report by changing the query criterion then it's failing. Is there any debug feature like dbsm_output with sqlerrm in reports 10g .I can use srw.message to put messages inbetween. My report is failing in before report trigger itself. In the before report trigger I'm using lot of bind parameter and dynamic query construct. Is there any way I can get actual query construct from dynamic query the way we get it in back end using dbms_output and also trapping errors like sqlerrm?
Thanks,
Kiran
your report is from EBS Release 12?
then you have this sentece
SRW.USER_EXIT('FND SRWINIT');.
a user exit
you can call from the builder
you need to run with this sentence from ebs environment
comment this sentence
and similar in after report trigger
if you use views of ebs you need to set in before report the environment to ebs
you need to use
mo_global.set_policy_context ('S', p_organization_id);
inv_globals.set_org_id (p_organization_id);
fnd_global.apps_initialize (-1, 50587, 401);
the values of app_initialize depending the product that you use, (INV, AP, PO, etc)

VijayHi
I need to debug BPEL code in same manner how we debug Java Code ( Line by Line ) .
We are working with Java CAPS and Glassfish ESB for last 5 yrs. In NetBeans we debug BPEL in the same manner how debug Plain Java CODE.
Have a look at below link

how to debug a report
i am new to ABAPHi
<b>ABAP Debugger</b>
The ABAP Debugger is an integrated test tool within the ABAP Workbench. You use it to check the program logic and to find errors in the source code of an ABAP program. In the Debugger, you can step through the source code of a program. The running program is interrupted after each step, allowing you to check its processing logic and the results of individual statements.
As of Release 6.10, you can also run Business Server Pages (BSP) in the debugging mode. You can also display and set breakpoints here. Business Server Pages can be displayed in the Object Navigator when you select an appropriate application under BSP Application.
<b>Features</b>
The Debugger provides an efficient means of identifying errors in ABAP programs. It contains the following functions:
Ways of starting the Debugger
Choosing different views
Choosing different execution options in the Debugger
Displaying source code in the Debugger
Setting and deleting breakpoints
Setting and deleting watchpoints
Stopping a program at a particular statement or event
Displaying and changing field contents at runtime
Displaying ABAP Objects and references
Displaying and positioning strings
Setting and deleting database locks
Opening the ABAP Editor, or Object Navigator
System settings and runtime warnings
<b>Starting the Debugger</b>
There are two possible strategies for starting the Debugger in the ABAP Workbench:
By setting breakpoints then running the program
By running the program in debugging mode.
<b>Setting Breakpoints</b>
A breakpoint is a signal in a line of code that tells the ABAP runtime processor to interrupt the program at that line and start the ABAP Debugger. A distinction is made between static and dynamic breakpoints. For further information about the different types of breakpoints and how to use them, refer to Breakpoints.
Running a Program in Debugging Mode
You can start the Debugger without previously having set breakpoints. This is the best procedure to use when you want to test a program right from the beginning. It is also useful if you do not know the program very well and therefore are not sure where best to set breakpoints. You can start the Debugger as follows:
From the Object Navigator Select a report or transaction and program and choose Program Test Debugging.
From the ABAP Editor Choose Program  Execute  Debugging (or the Debugging pushbutton).
From any screen Choose System  Utilities  Debug ABAP.
From any screen Enter " /h " in the command field.
<b>Checking System Programs for Errors</b>
To check a program or program component that is part of the ABAP Workbench (for example, the Screen Painter), you must use the system Debugger. To start the system Debugger, choose System  Utilities  Debug system from any screen. To stop the system Debugger, choose Debugger  Debugging off.
<b>
Displaying Program Attributes</b>
You can display the attributes Fixed point arithmetic, System program and Unicode checks active of the program that has just been executed by choosing Goto  Further Information  Program Attributes.
<b>
Display Modes in the Debugger</b>
When you are debugging a program, there are various display modes that you can use. All of the display modes have the same structure. The top part of the screen displays an extract of the program source code. The bottom part displays the information specifically available in that display mode. There are also pushbuttons on the screen allowing you to switch to the most frequently-used display modes.
go to se38->give ur program name-.execute->give /h at command prompt->execute->now debugging will start->
f5-used for line by line debugging
f6-used for directly executing function modules or performs i.e. control won't go into that block.
f7-run to cursor
f8-direct executing.
fileds: here we can check fild values.
click fileds option and double click on the filed or type the filen name beside filed
tables : here we can check the data in the internal table.
click tables option and double click on the internal table.
Break points:
if you want to debug a particulr part you can use this.
place the cursor at any perform click breakpoint or double click on that line.it will be set.
if /h from report statement it will debug,so for debugging from particular point we will use break points.use f7 to traverse between multiple break points.
Watch-points: In some cases we need to check the data populated in the internal table for eample if we want to check the data of internal table record belongs to 100th vendor we will create watch point for this goto->breakpoints->create watch points->give filed itab-lifnr->=->100.
debugging procedure:
Use '/H' in the command line and execute the report/program, so that it goes to debugging mode
2. keep a hard coded break point in the code like BREAK-POINT and it stops there.
3.From the program Menu, Keep the Soft Break-points and do the debugging.

How to debug a report in production server
hello all,
how to debug a report in production ...
do i need to BREAK statement of that particular user.....
thanks in advance....Vinay,
Process of Debugging in Production will be same as in Development or Quality.
But,it is not advisable to debug in Production because it may lead to inconsistency in data that's get saved to Database. So,based on the acitvity that you intend to debug you have to take some precautionary steps.Usually Debugging access will not be given in Production, even if they give debugging access you will not be having authorisation to change the values in runtime while debugging. You will not be able to put hardcoded BREAK-POINT because the Production client is meant only for display and not modifiable.
If you can provide more details of what you intend to Debug, you will be getting more info here.

How to call Report 6i/9i Oracle Standard Report into Discoverer 10g
How to call Report 6i Standared report into Duscoverer 10g as there is a requirement to create or transfer Oracle Standard report into Discoverer.
1) Account Analysis Subledger Details(180 Char) - Standard Report 6i as i want the same report in Discoverer 10g.
2) Aging Report -- 7 bucket --Standard report in 6i,how to transfer in Discoverer 10g.
Is is possible to Transfer from Report 6i to Discoverer or How to Create this report in Discoverer 10g.
Please advice,
SushantWell, if I had to do it, here's how I'd start.
1. Get the SQL from the Oracle Report and then create a database view that's more generic based on the SQL but still gets the answers.
For example, you'd not code many conditions, etc. but the database view would be pointing to the correct Oracle Apps tables / views.
Once you've got the view, bring it in to Disco Admin, etc. and create a report from it that now adds the extra conditions needed. That way you can use the underlying concept without hard coding things like dates, etc. which you would ask the user at run time.
However ... as you may well know ... Oracle Reports can do some 'strange and/or powerful things' on the fly and, for example, it may be something like a temporary table generated for the report, etc. so may become a much bigger issue.
2. If you have NoetixViews views then they'll most likely already have the views for these queries already created as they're reasonable for what's needed in an Oracle environment.
3. I'd see if there is already a pre-defined BIS view that covers this as well. Again, you're in an area that's pretty popular so if a BIS view already covers much of the same info then you've got a create view 'head start' already. Check views owned by Apps starting with the application plus FV or FG (the one you'd really want) such as: GLFG_Budgets_To_Actuals to see what I mean.

Hi Every One,
1) How to debug (debuging steps )in a report in boxir2 webi based report.can any body help me out .
2)How we do the performance and tuning in the report level.
3)Aggregate awareness is possible to apply in report level or in universe level. If possible where we can find that option in webi..
Please help me out
Thanks in advanceHi,
1. Depends on what you would like to debug - Always remember that Data issues - look into generated SQL and compare with report output ..the values would be the same or at higher level based on output context.
2. There is not much to do in terms of improving performance in rendering a report. You should ideally concentrate on universe and underlying db performance for query retrieval.
3. Aggregate awareness is applied at the Universe level. Please refer to the universe designer guide for more details.

How to show web layout reports from 10g forms
Hi all ! When I try to open a report file with extension .jsp from a Form using web.show document() or run_report_object() only paper layout is showing on the screen so how I display a web layout from a form with proper documentation or design. Again why only data is showing on the screen without line, ractangle and other documentation but when I run the same report from report builder It is showing all on the screen. Please help how to resolve this. Please provide some proper code or way to solve this.
Thanks & regards
SanjitWell,
Web layout means that in place of (or in addition to) the paper layout, you get the report designed in JSP code. So all the frames, repeating frames etc will be expressed in JSP code using the Oracle Reports custom tags. Since it is code-based, you can insert your HTML or Java code in here to customize the output. You can in fact start with the HTML template, open it in reports builder, and start inserting the data using Reports custom JSP tags. In web layout, there are no "page breaks". So your report will be a JSP file, and can be deployed along with your J2EE application.

How to schedule and e-mail reports in OIM 10g
Hi,
Could you please let me know how to schedule and e-mail OOTB reports in OIM 10g.
When I click on reports tab and try to run a report, I see the report displayed on the screen and has an option to export to CSV format.
I could not find a place where I can specify the scheduling interval or the set of e-mail recipients.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Many thanks in advanceYou can write your own schedule task to do the same. You can use the existing Stored procedures which are used by OOTB reports to get the desired report.
You can also make use of API: http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/id_mgmt/idm_903/doc_cd/javadocs/operations/Thor/API/Operations/ReportOperationsIntf.html -
